Tirpitz is weak to carriers, not to other battleships.
-
Problem is, the other ship I am leveling is Colorado. It's a potato I can't wait to sell. It can't play well versus t8 BBs, so I'm stuck farming with carrier, which gets boring quickly. Excuse me in your matchmaking in advance.
-
I've sunk over a thousand Euros worth of Tirpitz's so far.
-
I broke all my records so far. 8 ship kills for a game.
-
Here comes that train.
-
Easy 3000 experience points per game when enemy team is battleships with average AA. I'll be riding the Tirpiz hype with my carrier to the end.

Stats are not very accurate with the current matchmaking system. I agree on the obvious powerhouses that everyone has met in the game. These stats are results from games where one team has two t10 DDs spamming torpedoes for 20 minutes on t7 ships, or t10 carrier getting matched against no carrier team. Also, many players are still climbing the tiers. If you play a t9 ship, most games you will face t6-t8 opponents. It will be a while before the servers get saturated with high tier ships.

I have seen players fire over obstacles without having direct sight to the ship, while it is scouted by others. They aim at the obstacle but the shell fly over it. Is this some automatic game function or a script?
-
Testing showed me it is a built-in feature of the game. I can aim at rocks at 9km, and shots will fly to enemy at 15km behind them. It's purely intuitive and you don't know if it will jump them or not. Thanks for feedback to all.
-
I am always locked on target. I will do some more tests, from everyone's replies I gather it is a game feature that auto-aims your elevation.
-
I am not sure I have explained it correctly. I technically CAN hit the enemy. He is behind a very low land, for example. But when I aim at him, I mostly see the obstacle and not his whole ship. I can't directly aim at the water in front of him. I have seen people aim AT the obstacle, the range finder says 9km, but the shells fly to 13km to hit the enemy. With same ship as mine, it doesn't really matter for this question.

Why are Battleships so insanely weak ?
viceadmiral123 replied to eatmygoldshells's topic in General Discussion
I have leveled up a lot in CV, DD and to some extent in BB lines. BB is the hardest to get experience with. Cons: Very slow moving, can't react to map events, dodge torpedos, etc. Depends on team for scouting enemies, torpedoes and AA cover. Team play is non-existent in most matches. Long-range shots are a joke - most likely you will completely miss your salvo, and even if you manage to put enemy in hit zone, the RNG gives you 1-2 hits for 10% of your listed maximum damage. Extremely long reload times, huge spread in close range. Secondaries are strong, but at close range torpedoes of destroyers and cruisers are stronger...so yeah...I high tier games secondaries won't do anything for you. Pros: Very durable, I think it is your duty to soak up damage instead of other teammates. The tingly feeling when you actually manage to land a full broadside on a cruiser and sink him. Happens rarely. -
Do battleships need aim assist for long-range shots? Poll.
viceadmiral123 posted a topic in General Discussion
Similar to how torpedoes have aim assist that calculates speed and heading, battleships could use visual aid for shots that take long time to reach target. There is already enough RNG with the shell spread. There is a skill for 2 points that alerts you to incoming fire with flight time >6 seconds. There could be a 3 point artillery skill that gives lead indicator for shots >6 seconds (just example idea). Please don't turn this into "OMG CVs are OP, DDs need nerf, BBs one shot me" topic. Feel free to share your experience with how effective your long-range shots are. -
Stock hull is always underpowered, it stimulates paying customers. Baltimore has strong AA and good firepower, enough for a high-tier support ship. The rest is skill. The high trajectory of shells has it's perks, like firing behind cover. If you don't like it, don't play it.

If you have a reloaded squadron and press "f", it should start launching or get in queue to use the runway. There are many small gameplay bugs that I am too lazy to report that may be causing this.

Oh no, I have a tier 4 battleship and I can't be number 1 in the score table. I have played maybe 30 games with it. I'll cry on the forums about it.

Battleships, just a waste of space
viceadmiral123 replied to DreadArchangel's topic in General Discussion
Another "this ship is terrible/overpowered" topic from an unexperienced player. Watch how the successful battleship captains play and learn. I have enjoyed almost every battleship I've played and I am getting better with them. I still prefer carriers though, hehehe. -
Any news on when the skillships will be nerfed? (CVs)
viceadmiral123 replied to fenrirspup's topic in General Discussion
In higher tiers, you take more hits because your ship is longer. But you take less floodings and fires both in chance to occur and damage over time, and you have more HP to work with. And you get a decent AA. I do very well against the t5-t6 CV players I've played against with my battleship. I don't expect to win a 1v1 against a carrier I can't even catch up to with my slow potato, but I dodge and kill planes, heal the damage, and continue with the team objective. I've been getting a lot of 2 and 3 fire procs from one dive bomber squad drop with my t9 carrier. The t8 and above battleships are just enormous targets for dive bombers, forget the torpedos. -

I started the climbing the battleships tree after unlocking the t10 carrier, and I find it extremely easy to avoid torpedos in my battleship with stock hull. Last few games I played, I got hit by a total of 3 torpedos from maybe 10 bomber drops and 2 torpedos out of 20-30 destroyer launched. -
I'm interested in testing out the t7-t10 USN battleships, but the only bb experience I have is the Kawachi, and eventually I skipped it to get to the CVs. Currently dominating the skies with t9 CV, but getting bored of it. I am looking for general advice from experienced USN BB players - which upgrades on which ships are crucial to get with free exp for example. I also want to start leveling up a captain, what skills do well for a BB?

Advice for climbing the USN BB line
viceadmiral123 replied to viceadmiral123's topic in General Discussion
I also don't like the lower fire chance skill, I read that it acts in the weakest way possible in the calculations. And it costs 2 points on top of that. With 1 point skill, ship upgrade and flag, you can reduce fire duration by 50%. Technically, if you pay for the advanced repair party consumable and get the 10% reduction skill, about 1/4 of the game time you will be in repair mode. Battleships have a lot of strategic options how to develop. -
More XP for damaging different classes?
viceadmiral123 replied to rvfharrier's topic in General Discussion
I think it depends on ship Tier and % of health lost. The easiest points you can get are from sinking a high tier destroyer. -
Looking forward to 12/12 kills.

Advice for climbing the USN BB line
viceadmiral123 replied to viceadmiral123's topic in General Discussion
I'm having a blast with Wyoming, I decided to play the ships one by one and only free exp when I feel I absolutely need the hull. 12 high-caliber guns is so much DPM. The first minute I leave the ship on auto-pilot and go do something, then come back for the shooting bit. I have a question - the secondaries skill line talks about AA guns and <155mm guns. I presume this includes secondaries of battleships and main guns of other ships that fall under 155mm? So it will reduce cooldown of secondaries and boost aa efficiency of my battleship?
