Well to be fair I don't think most of the present Japanese people really like/support those war criminals. If I'm not wrong they want the country to remain pacifist though the gov wants to change the self defense force into an army instead. Edit:typo

Well the overall difference I guess between Germany and Japan is that while Germany acknowledged that they made a mistake and made amends, Japan has refused to acknowledge that they have done anything wrong during the war, which is why China and South Korea have issues with Japan. The Japanese army rampaged through Korea, China and Asia and they treated the civilian population pretty badly, from comfort women, massecres and carrying out weapon testing. They also seem fine with venerating war criminals. If Germany had a war memorial honouring Himmler or any war criminals what do you think the reaction will be like? People will be up in arms. Yet people feel China and South Korea overreact when the Japanese PM prays at a shrine that also honour the same tyrants that decided to test viruses, plagues and other biological weapon on civilians? Perhaps the IJN didn't commit alot of heinous acts but I guess its the symbol that affects who people think. I mean the swastika is not even originally a Nazi symbol, yet people nowadays would refrain from using the swastika for fear of being branded as Nazis.Similarly while people who have knowledge know that there is a difference in the flag, it still stir up sentiments that have not been acknowledged. So i guess rather than stirring up a hornets nest of issue WG just substitue the flag or symbols. I mean think about it what would happen if Bismark in game has the swastika.

Slightly off topic but I'll just leave this here in case you're wondering why Asians get offended by the rising sun flag: http://thewandereronline.com/why-one-should-never-use-the-japanese-rising-sun-flag-by-dongwoo-kim/

Operation Dynamo Collection - How to get?

I run CE though. I guess I'll get manual AA then since I use the same captain on the Kaga as well and it has 2 sets 100mm gun.
-
Probably just you. That or I haven't been playing enough CV games. Btw what would you recommend for the last 4 points of an IJN CV captain? Manual AA, bft,aft or one of the endurance skills?

Have you bought Belfast, Kutuzov? if so prepare to be shocked...

If WG really goes through with this then they might as well remove smoke altogether. IMO smoke is best used offensively (ie shooting from smoke). In this form you can use it as a mobile cover to push or defend (especially if you're outnumbered) a flank, help cover friendly DDs who are capping while not dying immediately because that one enemy DD spots you next to the cap and every enemy ship then proceed to light up on you up. Smoke used defensively (ie not shooting) looks good in theory but fails horribly in practice. Some people say it should only be used to cover retreats but they fail to understand that the spotting mechanic in Wows will rarely allow this to work. It would more or less only work if a) all the enemies that can spot you are at 1 angle b) there is no cv in game c) the enemies do not have fighter or spotter planes/ they have not launched it or are too dumb to launch it/ its on cool down. But more often then not in reality you have enemy ships at multiple angles so while ships south of u may not be able to spot u after a friendly dd laid down a smoke screen to cover yr retreat, those SE,SW,E or W will still spot you rendering the smoke screen useless. Even if that is not the case, any plane will still spot you even if you shoot maybe say 10km from the smoke because anything within your gun radius, ship or plane will see you so it is also pointless. Therefore as a practical defensive tool, smoke isn't really that effective. Sure you can say "tweak it then so that smoke os effective as a defensive tool" but that would possibly mean changing the spotting mechanic again, which is another major mechanic of the game. -
What tier? Or in general? Tier 7 and 8 seems normal enough for me. Not sure about tier 9 though.
-
That is why you need to use the minimap. At the start of the battle when the enemy ships are spotted, have a look at where are most of them heading, to the left, right or middle. If you are on the flank with lesser enemy ships you should push forward. If you're on the flank where the enemy ships outnumber you and your allies, play defensive at range and hold them off. Remember to never blindly push forward. But obviously dun camp either.

Clan members rigging the Ranked (with replay as proof)
pra3y replied to 22cm's topic in General Discussion
Well if there is another teammate on the losing that has a higher xp than your teammate before you let your teammate farm damage off you and thus get more xp and keep his star I feel that it is rigging. Sure it may not necesaary be the case (xp of the players) and depends on how the match went but like what DrDrKaputt said it is still poor sportsmanship to feed yourself to someone you know. -
Clan members rigging the Ranked (with replay as proof)
pra3y replied to 22cm's topic in General Discussion
Well when you and your friend/clanmate deprive the best player on the losing team the right to keep his star then that is rigging isnt it? Because if not for you freding yourself to yr friend/clanmate your friend/clanmate would bot have done more damage to get the star, thus depriving someone who really played well what he deserve, especially in a competative mode like rank. Is it really that hard to compute? -
Meh at least it is still possible to strafe his fighters to death and he has only 3 squadrons of 4 planes each (edit: so they'll die faster and easier when dogfight, strafed or exposed to AA compared to a normal usn fighter squad) I had a match against an AS Essex who apart from having 3 squads of 7 fighters in the air also knew what he was doing (despite his stats, which is why I've learnt not to judge a CV player by stat but by initial gameplay). Suffice to say it was an excruciating game for me.

Its not even a close game where you're losing in pts and have to cap to win so why not? Sure its a slight waste of time but apart from that unless the Cambelltown detonates everyone chasing him your team has won anyway.

Shower thought: CV strike power balance in AA
pra3y replied to Blood_Vessel's topic in General Discussion
As a captain skill? Or a standard game thing? I think it would be a good idea if it is a captain skill, perhaps induce panic plus slightly increase the effectiveness of AA guns even more to make the skill worth while. If its a standard game thing then nah since you already increase AA guns effectiveness by selecting a target. edit: Maybe add on to the manual AA fire skill the "always induce panic when selected" -
Ah ok.

I think someone from WG clarified that the CV rework is not a 1 patch fix all thing but rather in phases/ part/ overtime. So the rework is not yet fully completed.
-
I think WG is planning to tweak the loadout for USN CVs so we'll have to wait and see.
-
To be honest I don't get how it's a buff to premiums. If no DD can stealth fire, even the premium ones (stat change or not) then everyone got nerfed didn't they?
-
Well if you don't care about damage and focus purely on establishing air superiority then you should be able to do it fairly in a 3/0/2 Essex. I honestly never want to face one of that in my Taiho ever again. It was a nightmare to deal with
-
But its still a nerf though even if it is not directed at premiums but a global buff/nerf. Take Saipan for example, it is possible for WG to make exceptions for certain ships and in its case it does not lose a plane when strafing out of a dogfight when every other CV does. Therefore it is entirely possible for WG to not apply the global nerf of German BB secondaries to the Tirp and Scharn if they want to.

Just Citadelled a Montana with Neptune, But How?

Best not to think too much about it. RNGesus works in mysterious way -
Since this is the latest thread on potato BB ................ Almost 16 min into the game, Amagi is still on full health. When I remarked that to the enemy team they told me the Amagi was shooting HE. The Amagi was practically camping the whole game while the rest of the team, including the lower tier BBs were pushing and tanking.
-
Aye that's why. Perhaps its because a wide range of people play this game. For people like us we learn what we can about the game. But for others it may be only a ship arcade game, the only decent ship arcade game in the market right now. Fundamental mechanics and game economy means nothing much to them, just their fun and enjoyment (not judging them, just saying people play the game with different perceptions to it)
-
Yeah I played the balanced loadout for USN all the way till Ranger. Wanted to do so for Lexi but after playing a game on the pts with 1/1/1 in a tier 9/10 game I found that loadout on the tier to be severely underwhelming and couldn't do much. With AS Lexi you can still stack 2 DBs in and do damage but balance can't do so. Something to consider also is from tier 8 to 10 you meet alot of ships with good AA so while playing strike at low to mid tier is harder, you can use your team's AA to your advantage (against enemy CV fighters) while playing strike in you Lexi (unless you're in a tier 6/7 game then it'll be slightly harder). On a side note I hope that introduce the new loadout for USN CVs soon like what El2aZeR said. Playing without a fighter makes me feel naked and missing out on plane kills.
-
Not necessary. Think about it. WG introduced a new repair fee system which encourages people not to camp, yet it made not much difference. Sure it will benefit those that take advantage of it and don't like camping but in the grand scheme of things you still see people camping. Now on the issue of giving CV spotting XP, how many CV players would go spot a DD or spot for the team? In general those CV players who know what they are doing and teamplays will do so. But you have CV players who are potato too and play CV for themselves. For example they just want to do as much damage as they can and use their fighters to cover their strike planes. That's why I don't think it'll make much of a difference. You already have some DDs camping at the start with or without the spotting XP. Heck even without a CV in game a DD can still camp just like a BB for multitude of reasons.
