If you play a Bismark in a game where the CVs are tier 7 and below then there really shouldn't be a problem is there given that your AA is 1 to 2 tiers higher depending on which tier of CVs you come up against. Plus unless they work together (rarely though) and simultaneously strike you, you should be able to wreck their planes and minimize damage with wasd hack.

1/1/1 worked for me on Ranger. Regarding getting snipe its all about strafing. You can purposely lock yourself with his fighters, let the guy feel safe to move his strike planes past you, then just strafe out into them . You don't have to be afraid of losing planes in a Ranger since you have a decent reserve (if I remembered correctly) for a 1/1/1 loadout. I remembered in a game in my Hiryu once where I kept on strafing and killing this 1/1/1 Ranger's planes, yet he didn't seem to run out of planes. Also, one game a day for daily win, maybe a few times if I felt like it. Then I went full on strike for Lexi and still managed ok. It's tough, but the damage a strike lexi does is no joke, especially when unhindered. Plus AA can be worked out. Just because you don't have fighters doesn't mean all the enemy planes can't be shot down. An upgraded Lexi has such god tier like AA that only another strike lexi can do significant damage to you (not sure about graf since Im done with my lexi).

Those last strikes are always so amusing. Just when you think you're safe, that %#$* CV gives his planes to strike you. If you're good/lucky they miss terribly. If you potato then

I do it all the time. A good sacrifice if I manage to get those 2 other enemy squadrons, if not a write off I guess. Someday I guess

To be honest I don't really see how much difference it makes to me whether or not there is a CV in game or not. If there is then fine if there isn't it's fine as well. The only difference for me is perhaps in CV games the pace is faster cause the CV planes will be spotting enemy ships whether intentionally or not whereas a non-CV game may be slower since people may not want to push forward with nothing spotting the enemy, even the DDs. But that's just about it, a different pace. Well plus more exp from shooting planes.

Exactly, IJN CVs are a much more easier to play because of the all rounded ability while USN requires more skill and effort in order to perform well. Which is why I also say it contribute towards the low WR of USN CV.
-
Well the DBs RNG is good enough for me to work with and deal enough damage for me to be satisfied. As for USN CVs having the worst wr I think its more of how most USN CV players are unable to use it well enough? Don't get me wrong there are plenty of good USN CV players out there as well but like I've said before in other threads playing USN CV is significantly harder than playing with IJN as a result of the loadout. AS won't get you anywhere if your team is potato while strike allows you to influence the game but partially reliant on your team and mostly reliant on the enemy CV. Stock is debatable depending on the tier. Its fine up till Ranger and ok at Midway but definitely not for Lexi and for Essex it seems like a low/mid tier USN AS built where you get a TB instead of a DB. Whereas IJN from Hiryu onwards you just play "strike" and you can do everything a CV should do unlike USN which is forced into a specific role and that's why the stats are skewered.
-
But in return they are limited in plane reserves. High tier USN CV play differently in terms of attacking, a reverse IJN strike if you will. 3 USN DBs can do a ton of damage, set fire and knock out AA guns, then you go in with the TB and flood the guy since even if focused, plenty of the AA guns would have been knocked out, thus the TB have a higher chance of surviving and dropping. USN rely on dot damage, IJN rely on alpha. It's not like you and your ilk are debating anyway. The only thing you guys have said is CV OP please remove them. Nothing constructive or balanced at all so why not.
-
Because 2 squadron of 6 bombers when stacked is extremely difficult shoot down due to their health pool. On the other hand, 3 squadron of 4 bombers is much easier to shoot down and thus more balanced which is why Haku and Taiho have a strong alpha strike but in exchange weaker planes than the USN CVs.

I wanna play against you in a CV though Tell me about it Im in the middle of my qualification course and then its off to work forever. Play while you still can. Well compared to others my skills are still somewhat lacking. Im just slightly better since I know roughly most of the game mechanics. I got lucky and he potatoed. He spent almost 10 mins of the game flying around the map border just to snipe me. Should have just made use of the Atlanta on his team and bait my fighters instead of wasting time sniping.
-
Hahahhaha sure. You shouldn't give up though. My Kaga game just now was against a Saipan and we still won even though I lost almost all my planes. Came in top 5 ;) You'll be fine. I'm a potato as well. We'll just potato together then.
-
You're safe, I'm done for the day. But it'll be fun to play against one of you guys in a CV though. One of this days ;)

Just strafed an entire strike wing from a strike Ranger My best strafe so far.

I don't think the GZ issue blew up cause people wanted a god setup. It blew up (with regards to the GZ itself and not other factors) mostly cause a) the planes are weak and there is no way the player can mitigate it like the Enterprise and b) the delay with the AP bombs. There are plenty more reasons but those 2 are the main. So you're left with a CV that can barely do anything in any of the area it is suppose to do from dealing damage to providing AA support which leads on to the next point, what is a CV suppose to do. A CV is suppose to scout, provide AA and deal damage. You have to balance them I suppose in order to get the maximum reward. But it shows in your statement that you don't understand some stuff on the economics of this game. For one I may be wrong but the repair cost is fixed. Been fixed a zillion patches ago. No matter if you have full health or 2 hp left you still pay the same amount. Secondly tier 10 will not really make you money unless you buy the premium camo. For CVs it cost alot more i think cause of the planes+WG nerfed the earning income of CVs. Plus you don't earn as much purely spotting while shooting down planes I think someone mentioned somewhere that you have to shoot down a certain amount of planes in order for it to be equal to dealing damage or something. Also it's not about farming damages but dealing damage where needed in order to win. Domination match? Sink the enemy DDs, failing which spot them for your team. Timer almost gone and losing by a few points? Sink the ship with the lowest health so that your team will win, even if it is a CA or DD rather than going after the easy BB that is at the map edge. CV are all rounders. People have this misconception that CV only have specific roles to play like dealing damage or providing AA when the fact of the matter is its all of the above. You don't just blindly focus on one area and forgo the other, you have to try and balance the roles as far as possible.

Well they do have some naval torpedo bombers (yes I know on carriers), both in service and experimental during ww2. Supermarine Type 322 Fairey Spearfish Fairey Barracuda de Havilland Sea Mosquito bouncing bombs ;) Blackburn Firebrand Blackburn Firecrest Westland Wyvern (It counts xp) https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_carrier-based_aircraft#World_War_II Actually looking at the post ww2 section there seem to be quite a few British TB. Also I may have missed out some planes in the ww2 section as I just copied down those labelled as TBs. For example, the Firecrest is listed as a post war fighter when it can also carry torps. So there should be enough for WG to play around I guess.

From wiki: ...Admiral Otto Ciliax in the Scharnhorst described "The mothball attack of a handful of ancient planes, piloted by men whose bravery surpasses any other action by either side that day". As he watched the smoking wrecks of the Swordfish falling into the sea, Captain Hoffmann of the Scharnhorst exclaimed, "Poor fellows, they are so very slow, it is nothing but suicide for them to fly against these big ships"... I think if those swordfishes get place in the tier 6 or 7 British CVs they'll need at least 2 squadrons of 10 swordfishes each and even the Mutsuki will take down 1 squadron before the other drops

Its the strafing that makes it fun though for me. I can fight any combination of loadout, even AS and outplay them most of the time with the strafe. The lack of strafe I feel makes the 1/1/0 Bogue dependent on what loadout it's facing. Strike Bogue or Zuiho it's doable, AS Bogue you're kinda doomed. And we haven even got to the part on facing of tier 6 CVs.
-
I guess I just somehow enjoy the USN CV line, especially the Bogue in its 1/1/0 config. Its a beauty.

This has got nothing to do with your inability to play CV. Well at least not directly. More of the flawed assumption that CV has a tremendous impact on the game. Lets assume you get your wish and CVs are removed. Now DDs get free reign and wreck everyone else cause its harder to spot them all the time. Someone with the same flawed thinking like you comes up and say hey DDs need to have their own game as no one can reliably spot and hit them all the time. So what now, remove DDs as well? The fact that you think CV players are playing a different game is an indication that you don't understand the game itself, which may also be a reflection of why you can't play CV well cause you assume its and "RTS" game where the CV players do their own stuff while the other players do their own stuff, when the truth of the matter is it's not and that line of thinking separates a good CV player from a bad one. In fact it may also be a reflection of why your own stats are so bad. It shows that you don't know how to play or use the ships that you have. I mean you have some of the most powerful ships in that game yet you perform very poorly in them? I mean I have the same bad stats as you a year back but I guess the difference is I learn from my mistakes and try to improve while you're one of those that blame someone for your inability to do well?
-
"I can't deal with CVs and too lazy to learn how to deal with them. WG make my life easy and just remove them so I have the advantage" - OP in a nutshell
-
-
I hope you realise by now at tier 10 that AA guns get destroyed over the course of the battle by shell fire, bombs etc and your 100 AA rating only last to the point where your ship is getting attacked. Therefore it is perfectly reasonable for a tier 8 CV to not lose any planes since most of your AA guns have already been destroyed. On the other hand if you're saying that a tier 8 CV does not lost plane attacking you at the start then you're just trolling.
-
The problem is with the hanger capacity. Unless WG increases the hanger capacity for the Bogue its pretty difficult to do anything about it I think. They could always give tier 5 CVs manual drop and strafe again and stock Bogue will be OP again if the player knows how to use it. Sigh I miss my Bogue.

Graf Zeppelin is an insult to paying customers

You know something is seriously wrong when avenger121 drops by a CV topic and does not talk about how OP CVs are
