But not all the BBs though right?

It the "evil baby" meme. I still have quite awhile with the Essex. If the change is at it is, I don't think I'll find the tier 8 fighters fun.

How to be a tomato (or my worst weekend ever = rant)

Weekend has been great so far Tbh this is getting kinda stale. There is very little distinction nowadays between weekend and weekday gameplay. If there are potatoes on your team there are potatoes on the other team as well. Potatoes for everyoneeeeeee

I know, its just that there are people who really want the ability to do so in game during battle. I'll probably stick to the HE bomb though unless the AP bomb works well against all BBs. Having consistency on all your targets feel much better than being able to 1 shot 1 BB while doing little damage to another.

Yeah. Its complicated as it is already. I mean there are people out there playing CVs with no idea on some of the CV game mechanics. My bad I checked the Enterprise's AP bombs and its 1000 pds. It's HE bomb is 500 pds though. GZ's AP bomb I don't know. Well no more 3 DB squad for USN CVs. In case you missed it: I don't really have a peeve about whether or not I can swap bombs while in game so I guess I'm ok for now.

Apparently it works differently on different BBs from what I gather. Its most devastating against German BBs with the exception of the Bayern. If I'm not wrong though the USN AP DBs that are incoming are using different bombs. 1000 pd AP bombs or something so maybe the effect will be different. Nah deep water torps are a bad idea for CVs. I think CVs should be able to strike anything but there has to be check and balance here and there. The balance should be as whole and not against individual classes. Deep water torps are a balance against DDs and CAs I think. Perhaps a better way is to find a way to make CAs more relevant in their role as an AA platform for the fleet. Like defensive AA granting a range boost so that they can cover a DD that is capping while not risking their ships right at the start that kind of thing.

Yeah that's why I'm usually more afraid of USN strike planes and IJN ones. IJN I can take down enough planes to mitigate most of the damage while taking evasive manoeuvres. Against USN strike planes though if the guy stacks and comes at me it is much harder to dodge and shoot them down. That's why I'm kinda ok with the accuracy of USN DBs right now. Imagine those 1000 pd bombs with IJN DB manual drop circles. Lightly armored ships will just die while other ships take even more damage. Heck I've gotten 2 devastating strikes just from using those DBs only on a Roon and Fiji.

Well gotta balance it somewhere. Individual Hakuryu TB squads will just disappear in front of enemy AA. Its only when you stack them together do they have somewhat better survivability. Same thing for the Midway TB. Since it's only 1 squad it'll melt, but slower than an individual Haku TB squad. Even stacked Haku TBs are not scary if you know what you're doing. If Midway have 2 tier 10 TB squad we'll never hear the end of it. That being said I'll prefer 2 tier 9 USN TBs instead.

Bots - there is a plague of them

Indeed. On a side note can anyone translate what he said? Google translate looks kinda gibberish to me.
  12. Went full secondaries on F.der Grobe. I regret nothing.

    No cause they can't strafe?

    fighters locked in combat

Because you don't understand the game mechanic? You know there is something called strafing out right where you can strafe out of a dogfight? You can do it too just fyi.

Bots - there is a plague of them

My "bot" loaded in game and literally spend his entire game doing nothing but sit in the spawn waving his gun around. His only in game reaction was to insult the enemy team and call himself a hero as they kill him I think I'll rather have actual bots if this is the case. Since I don't have a replay here is the result screen: He literally did nothing the whole game, nothing. 0. I've seen actual AFK ships that get some exp but this is a first.

I'm very frustrated with the US CV rework

I think WG said there is no fix time period for the CV rework. So there is no huge single CV rework but rather they'll make changes here and there. So this USN CV change is actually part of the rework. I think the benefit of the single loadout is at least it is more balanced for USN CVs in performing their role, especially at higher tier. Getting rid of that tier 9 and 10 USN AS CV loadout is great. I mean imagine coming across some guy with an AS loadout in a division with 2 minos or 2 dm or a combi. You'll be in for so much pain. That single loadout will probably benefit US CV players as a whole since they won't be forced into 2 extreme ends of a CV role.

I don't think I really did the reverse method on the Hiryu. I just stacked them and send them off on a target or just find a target with lower AA. Harder to do it on tier 10 though given that almost all the ships have somewhat decent AA except for the Shima.

    French Cruiser Line !!!

Yeah I probably should use black sheep instead. I feel that the floaty arcs are fine after awhile when you get use to them. I'm grinding down the CA lines as well. Done with UK and Russia, tier 9 on USN and IJN, 8 on German and 7 on French. I would say that I'm enjoying the French line, especially after having a go with them on the PTS. If all CA gameplay is the same then won't it be abit boring ;) The USN, IJN and UK CA lines are suited for close range support given their low surface detection rate, especially the Mino which is technically an oversized British DD. IJN is kinda debatable given the lower rate of fire but given that you can just stop shooting and drop up detection I would say it's still ok in a close support role. German CA feels more of a mid range support CA. They're pretty tanky for a CA and can push, but not all the time. Russian and French CAs are the long range HE spammer of the CA line. Both have poor detection and perhaps the only saving grace at tier 10 for the Moskava is its guns. Sure it has radar but pushing too aggressively right off the bat in a Moskava is a death wish. So both are stuck with long range support, with Moskava going in if there are not too many enemy ships to radar. But given that Henry IV has torpedo tubes, it can push slightly better than a Moskava can. Although that being sad the Moskava having radar is better at pushing in the utility aspect.

    French Cruiser Line !!!

Still feels very meh to me though. I guess its because to me at least it doesn't feel like much of an upgrade after the Emile.

NERF this STUPID BROKEN SHIP "FLINT"!!!

Charging sort of work even better against smoked up ship now. Was in a game where only enemy cv and neptune were left. I spotted enemy Neptune so he smoked up since the CV was "spotting" me and began shooting. I thought to myself since its the end might as well charge while forgetting about the new detection change. Imagine both of our suprise when I spotted the Neptune at 6km (or whatever its smoke firing detection range is) and promptly sank it after baiting and dodging his torps earlier.

    French Cruiser Line !!!

French cruisers feels like a Frenchman in a sports car tossing molotovs that have been dipped in gasoline from 5 streets away. La Galissonière feels like the only real bad egg of the line and everything tier 7 and above seems pretty fun to play.

    Player stats don't matter

Well you can do it with a DB. Drop the bombs manually into the water at the start then make it fly around. Because an unladen DB actually travels pretty fast, you can bait more potato CV players into chasing after them with their fighters while your TB/s go in for the kill.
  23. pra3y

    Player stats don't matter

Its more of how the enemy CV plays at the start in general, with the fighter engagement being part of it. Say at the start you send your fighters out to the caps to scout and provide air cover and for the next few minutes you don't see a single enemy plane. That tells you either a) the enemy CV is afk or b) the enemy CV is a potato trying to CV strike you. Fighter engagement wise, does the enemy use his fighters to cover his allied ships? Or do they randomly fly about? Does he try to bait you over his own team's AA bubble? Does he keep on chasing your planes with no regards to his planes? Does he strafe you? Those are all the true indication of the skill level of a CV player rather than his stats, especially when you consider the fact that said player could be improving his gameplay as he plays.
