Oh come on El2aZeR, with you, you gotta give them a handicap and only use 1 fighter squadron for the game
-
Not that much though, especially if the Essex locks you down. I mean now it can go into multiple scenarios and the Taiho has to play more safely. With 2 fighter squad the Essex can sacrifice 1 squad to lock up the Taiho's fighters while the other going after those TBs. If the Taiho decides to do use his other fighter to go after that USN fighter the original one in the dogfight will probably die given that USN fighters are usually stronger which is why I think they're making Essex's new fighters tier 8 so that they're weaker. And don't forget with 2 DB and 1 TB the Essex can also dish out some decent damage with damage over time. That's another thing a competent Taiho player would have to worry about, how to stop the enemy strike planes+fighters now.
-
Yeap definitely. Like I said why do you think WG removed the original 2 TB setup from the Midway. Afterall both Midway and Haku have 12 planes in total right? The difference is that it is actually easier to shoot down Haku's TB squadrons since they have lesser health and plane per squad.
-
Because current USN CVs are forced to pick a loadout. Either AS, Strike or Stock. As a result most USN CV players would either kill alot of planes or do alot of damage but not that many would be a balance. With the new loadout they get to do everything their counterpart can do. Personally I feel up till tier 7 the line is fine so I'll just talk about this from tier 8 onwards. Stock Lexi was essentially lacking a way of being able to do damage in games with so much AA about. An extra DB squad will help it push though AA and be able to do more damage while at the same time with the fighter squad it can provide some air cover unlike strike lexi which is limited to mostly doing damage. Essex can do plenty of damage in its strike form but with only 1 fighter and facing off against a 2/3/2 Taiho, it is very difficult for it to perform in its air cover role. Its stock form, the 2/1/1 faces the same problem as the stock Lexi, the inability to deal damage. With a 2/1/2, you get the ability to lockdown a Taiho and be able to deal some actual damage. There is a reason why Essex is only getting tier 8 fighters in this new loadout and it's probably to not make Taiho players cry too much. Trust me with 2 USN fighter squad it'll be a nightmare for any IJN CV player even at tier 9 if that USN CV player is competent. Midway with 2 TBs, you tell me if its a buff or not. USN TBs have 6 planes with a somewhat tight pattern that spreads out and they have good health. You think a Hakuryu's 12 TB is scary? With those 2 TB squad a Midway can deal significant damage as well as having most of his planes safely return as compared to Haku which will have planes shot down all over the place. There was a reason why WG removed the original 2 T10 TB Midway loadout because it was just too powerful. Therefore I would say that the change in loadout is actually a buff. If they go through with this I can guarantee the overall stats for USN CVs will increase (ok I can't guarantee actually but mark my words it will) because with the new loadout they can a) do damage b) provide aircover which leads to c) winning games.

I disagree. If anything base on the information WG has provided or was "leaked" so far, I'll say that it's actually a buff to US CVs. At tier 7 and 8, 1 USN fighter squad is sufficient to fight a 2/2/2 Hiryu or Shokaku. Tier 9 and 10 with 2 fighters you can not only wreck IJN squadrons but at the same time now with the 2/1/2 or 2/2/2 do decent damage without having to pick AS or the somewhat lousier stock loadout. AA, granted while a problem, is nothing new. You'll just get used to it after awhile although for newer or less experience CV players I can see why it's a problem.

Always 50/50 I guess. Either you get some unicrum or you get a potato.
-
Yeah I don't think fighters are a problem, as with low or high tier attack planes. Its the mid-tiers that's a problem. There's a gap in the naval attack planes the UK has during the mid war period I feel. Probably have to either invent alot of planes or give different versions of the same plane I guess. Would prefer the Wyvern at T10 though just for the speed of the plane. I know, was there. While the Americans did use it more effectively, for some reason I find it more synonymous with the British when we look at it from a naval engagement prespective. Could always make it abit RNG, when the planes do a strafing run, the larger the ship the more likely it'll hit whereas the smaller the ship the less likely. Then make it light in the damage department but instead, can start fires, destroy modules and heck even "suppress" enemy ships like the stun they have for arti in WoT now.
-
Well we'll find out soon enough. Hopefully stronger.
-
Well Gz testers includes people who bought them when they were initially released. Plus I don't think every single STs are unicrum level (although I may be wrong). They just volunteering their time to help test new mechanics, ships etc I want new type of CV attack method. ROCKETSSSSSSSS
-
Guys 0.6.14 PT Test starts tomorrow and they're testing the new USN CV loadouts.
-
Crates can be opened mid-air as well ;)
-
1 squadron of 20 Swordfishes I don't think the British had that many "modern" naval attack aircraft do they? Will be a pretty big gap to fill in the mid tiers. High tier I hope the Sea Hornet gets into the game as a CV plane seeing that it could operate from CVs in real life. Watching the video I'm half expecting the Wyvern to be the tier 10 fighter, torpedo bomber and dive bomber. Maybe rockets. Would be interesting to see ships getting strafed by rockets.

The Brits are coming guys the Brits are coming. Well, probably not immediately but given that video probably soon enough.

You weren't spotting A mate, you were spotting C. That's why one of the reason why the Yamato was pinging you at the start, especially when the enemy Shima and Benson were spotted at A. I get that he was kinda irritating pinging the whole way but at least at that point in time was a good enough reason to spot A with at least 1 fighter. Enemies at C were all BBs, 2 Conqueror and 1 NC, so they could be easily spotted. Even if you don't spot them, you could have wrecked them without the need for those fighters being there. There were no smoke ships on your team on that flank, so no point spotting for them. And like I said, both the remaining enemy DDs were at A after you killed off that German DD at the start so you should have spotted the torps at A not C. Nothing wrong with killing off those enemy BBs at C but I feel that it was a waste of scouting potential and air cover for your team keeping your fighters there.
-
I watched the the first few minutes of the replay. While it's great that you killed of the enemy DD, what I don't get is why would you find it necessary to keep your fighters at C? Only the enemy Conqueror and NC were there and there is no reason why your fighters have to be there to spot those 2 ships. More so when both the remaining enemy DDs were spotted at A in addition the enemy CV's planes were focusing on A. Should have repositioned the fighters to A to spot the remaining enemy DDs and provide air cover while doing whatever else you want with those 2 enemy BBs with your strike planes. That may be why you got those negative karma, especially since your teammate was ping for help and there wasn't an actual need for your fighters to be at C at all. PS: A isn't really a trap. In fact I feel that spawning south and going to C is a trap because of that huge rock near C blocking your way. No way for a ship to manoeuvre to avoid shots or torps. Going AB when spawning C is the better choice I feel.

FIFY. Lol millions of Asians died to the Japs during WW2, yet they're let off with a slap on the wrist and the West thinks it's no big deal for Japanese PMs and politicians to pray to the same war criminals who carry out such atrocities every year. So you can take your double standards and keep it.

My best in the Essex so far :

Whose fault is it that created this refugee crisis in the first place. I really hope you'll never in up in a situation like them in the future because I heard karma can be a [edited] sometimes.

So far on tier 9 for both CV lines and I rarely lost money. Less can be said for my FDG, although watching my secondaries hit counter jump is intensely satisfying. I apologize but I think you have to go watch more vids on CV gameplay and improve. While AA is an issue here and there, it's not that bad that it would result in the amount of damage you're doing.

How to be a tomato (or my worst weekend ever = rant)
pra3y replied to SinkTheOthersNotMe's topic in General Discussion
True, so we as a player on the team is an influencing factor. Hahahahaha, its the same any day of the week to me man. Had a guy asking the team if anyone was drunk like him while playing on a weekday. -
Only recently did I keep on doing autodrops with US DB on DDs, but I make sure my drop is aligned with the DD as it goes in to be more accurate. RNG based but when you have 21 bombers hitting that DD RNG is usually in your favor and if you take turn to drop with each squad you'll just knock stuff out start fires, DD repairs, you 2nd or 3rd squad knocks out more stuff out or set more fire. Stick with the 1/1/3. Its tougher but gets the job done. I've been shut down by 2/1/1 or 3/0/2 but still won because i damaged/sank the right target which made life easier for my team. Don't be overly cautious and don't protect your strike planes. If I had to pick I'll try to cover my friendly DD first unless there is a benefit. At the tiers Essex plays, there are plenty of ships with decent AA. Probably a hold over from playing strike lexi but I use those ships as my AA defense against enemy fighters going after my strike planes, heck or even my own ship if they're potato enough.

Can't wait to hear the cries of how OP 2 TB Midway is.......and how it's gonna shred those Haku planes like no tomorrow
-
I use the 1/1/3 as well. I think for this loadout with regards to air cover the key is to know how to strafe and to be willing to sacrifice your fighters. Not a blind sacrifice. But say you're locked in a dogfight and the enemy strike planes are going to strike your DD that is near your fighters. As they come in, you strafe out of the dogfight and onto them. Try not to get into dogfights if both enemy fighters are nearby as much as possible. Fight 1v1 dogfights or if 1v2, over friendly ships with good AA. Btw strafe can be use to "boost" your fighters abit so if you're trying to run away from enemy fighters you can consider using strafe as a boost if you don't mind. Also I have dogfighting expert for that slightly more ammo. USN fighters have plenty of ammo so don't hesitate to use it. Attack wise, pick your targets. I often go after DDs at the start, especially in domination games or games where there are only 1 DD on both teams. That help my team abit by giving them a cap advantage. If we go slightly further there is the psychological effect. Not a USN CV but I had a Kaga game yesterday. Only 1 DD per side but our DD went solo to the D cap while the rest of the team move to A. I scouted D earlier and spotted 5 enemy ships heading towards it. Told DD to pull back but he refused so I sent my TB to the nearest enemy ship to D, a Fiji and 1 shot it. All the enemies straight away turned away from the cap. But there was only 1 actual ship in that cap only. So yeah, don't focus on pure damage, but doing decisive damage. That'll help your team alot. The rest is up to them.
-
Well someone's excited ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°) I still want to have to option of damaging DDs though. I get that we'll perhaps have 2 TB squad in the Midway in the future but it seems kinda wasteful. Had a match the other day where I auto HE bombed 4 enemy dds to death. Was quite amusing.
