Nah it's still workable without concealment expert. Heck any DD that trys to brawl at close range with an aki will die (well most anyways) with that dpm and arc. Just brawled with a mostly angled NO earlier under 5km and sank him with guns only. In the same match prior to that was a kagero who kept on showing broadside and an angled z23. All of them just died. Most fun guns on a DD so far for me Edit: spelling

Not my Haku stats pls, that's naming and shaming. Feel free to use my Midway one though.

You send your fighters ahead of the DD to scout and provide air cover, not stick the fighters above them. That way they know if an enemy DD is entering the cap and if enemy fighters appear you have a buffer to deal with them before they spot your own DD. You would have also spotted any other ship say that DM you used as an example. With all that info your DD can then decide what he wants to do, continue capping or run off and cap later. By not doing that you deprive your team a chance of winning. Information is king. No info=less chance of winning and as a CV one of your major plus point is being able to provide spotting information. Also you barely did anything in that game except farming damage. The thing is you're not even thinking when playing. If you were thinking you would have gone after their DDs right off the bat instead of farming damages from BB. You think those BBs are a threat to 2 DD they can't even see? In fact if I'm not wrong it was only until you strike the 2nd time you strike against the other BB at that cap did your DDs there got spotted cause of your planes since the Haku placed his fighters there to cover his BBs.

@Drone81 I watched the replay of that game you and RAHJAILARI were in and I can see why your teammates complain about you. That's because you don't understand the role of a CV. a) Take the very start of the match for example, instead of scouting for your team and providing them information you selfishly used your fighters to escort your own attack planes. You don't have to use your fighters to escort your attack planes. It's a waste of scouting resource. So your teammates have no idea whatsoever how the enemy team is playing, which enemy ships are heading in which direction. This is in contrast of the enemy Haku, who scouted right at the very start of the game, providing vision for 2 caps. b) I'll give you some credit for providing AA support, but not much and not enough. As mentioned in a), if you had scouted earlier on instead of sticking your fighters together with your attack planes, that Tirp may not have died to the Haku. You play too safely with your fighters as well at the start. c) The only reason why you did so much damage was because: i) It was a mostly BB and DD game, with very little AA heavy ships ii) You attacked the BBs only instead of other ships, thus getting all those easy damages I mean you spend the first half of the game focused at a cap your team has already gotten while giving RAHJAILARI and that shima free reign in B when you could have easily sunk the both of them. Your Gearing and Shima could have dealt with those BBs at the cap by themselves imo. Also near the end of the game, you literally flew past the shima heading in your direction. Instead of killing it first, you instead went after the Yamato. Why would you let a ship that can potentially kill you come so close before reacting? Also why don't you kill the enemy DDs? You know its a domination game right? If your DDs don't or can't cap, the next best thing would be to kill the enemy DDs so that they can't cap, thereby giving your team a higher chance of winning. By instead solely focusing on the enemy BBs, you contributed towards the loss of your team. It should be noted that the Haku's captain was undergoing retraining and still manage to perform decently. So your problem is that you still don't understand the role of a CV, which is whats holding you back. Don't be too focused on getting damage, instead focus on how you can help your team win. Sure you meet bad teams but you'll meet good teams as well. The only factor that affects both is you. If you've done all that you could setting up chances for your team to win then sure, be angry when you get raged at. But if have not and in this case you definitely have not, then learn from your mistake and improve from there. I don't doubt that there are always people out there who will be unsatisfied with how their CVs play and I've experienced it myself as well like all the other CV players commenting on this thread but I've also met players who appreciate a good CV that supports the team instead of focusing solely on farming damages. Like what the others have said, there is some truth in why your teammates behave that way (although they shouldn't all the time). Stats are important to a certain extent and show a player's general ability, which can be improved, but that replay is a definitive evidence of your lack in ability. Well I hope this helps you abit. @RAHJAILARI That 2nd line torping

Was referring to the tier. But on 2 TB squad, so far its either i lose a few planes or lose everything lol. It makes a huge difference but still feels like a hit or miss thing.
-
Have not seen any strike captains complaining on the eng forum at least. Well not engh to have an impression. Not much diff for me tb for the tb. At least they don't feel that papery. But im also on the memeway now. 2 TBs ftw
-
Well you do have more planes in a squad and more ammo, so you can strafe or strafe out more compared to a Taiho plus the fighter reserves ate reasonable. Thats why I said WG gave Essex tier 8 planes to balance it against the Taiho. Imagine all the salt if they were tier 9s <insert troll face>

Nah, as much as I miss my almighty 3 db squad, it's always the AS people that are the ones complaining how USN CVs are unplayable without AS loadouts

The Hipper is an unmitigated disaster and needs huge buffs
pra3y replied to Pocktio's topic in Cruisers
That AP though. Just had a Hipper game where I landed 4 citadels on a Atago that was turning away from me at about 15km, then landed a citadel on a Monarch. Slight RoF buff would be great though. Not an exceptional damage game and yes I'm the high tier but it was a tough game, no thanks to the BBs and a potato asking me to hunt a DD at the end of the game and then reporting me cause his div mate got sunk by said DD I mean look at the damage, for a CA that only did slightly above 72k damage I came out top. -
Who knows man, perhaps.
-
I agree but what can we do? WG has this misguided idea that not having manual attacks at low tier is a good idea because it protects new CV players or new players whichever they're targeting when the fact is it is not. Plus if we're gonna talk about seal clubbing people seal club in other classes as well, what about them? Rather than helping, as you described, it makes CV gameplay worse, especially since tier 7 and 8 where you have 2 premium CVs each so you'll find experienced CV players there as well.
-
Yeap. Nothing else really worth it to take at that tier first apart from that tbh since it's the only one that directly affect your attacks.

What Were Your Greatest Gaming Achievements Today ?
pra3y replied to Hanszeehock's topic in General Discussion
Trollmato is just too trollish. All the poor sods who think running away back to spawn would save them -
Well that can work too. Sounds much better then the current status quo and more balanced. @ForlornSailor Well WG were the ones who said one of the reason that they removed manual drop at tier 4 & 5 was to prevent seal clubbing so take it to them man not me. You don't have to explain the game mechanic of protected match making to me for that matter. If your problem is with the word "newer" note it's not newer players but newer CV players. By the time a player grinds up to a Langley or Hosho they're not exactly that new anymore.
-
The way i see it, fighters are an equalizer. Sure using fighters takes some skill but as long as the CV player doesn't keep it idle the entire game and left click on other fighters or bombers then the dynamic of the game will have changed as opposed to their being no fighter. You thing a scrub would know how to pick optimal targets? To be honest I think most people are at least more competent at using fighters then picking the right targets. That's why removing fighters are a bad idea. The better CV players would know what ships to target while the potato will just potato. Say a tier 8 CV in a tier 9/10 game without fighters. Competent CV players will go after enemy DDs first and scout. Potato CV players will just send their planes around the map border and try to snipe or waste time doing nothing useful to the team. I mean it's already happening now already. Removing fighters will exacerbate it even more. Also, WG's fault. They should have at most removed manual drop/ strafe from tier 4 if they're so worried about seal clubbing and let newer CV players practice manual attack at tier 5 and then enter the real world at tier 6. Learning how to do manual attacks at tier 6 is like having your first practical driving lesson on an LA freeway, you're exposed to all manner of danger even though you're still a beginner. Frankly I think that puts newer players off. Well unless they don't care and just play.
-
It makes the skill gap even greater imo. I played a few strike lexi vs strike lexi games in the past and I always outdamage and win against the other guy because I pick the right target to hit while the other guy potatoes. I think fighters kinda even out the skill level of CV players, well somewhat.
-
Fine fine. I pick have fun then.
-
Meh I got a 100% winrate in my Midway.
-
What who told you that? Those 1000 pd bombs are pretty scary crap when they hit stuff no matter tier or class. Its actually even better against tier 10 BBs since your target reticule can cover the entire ship. Literally nothing is safe from them. Once you try it it's like a drug, you'll get addicted to them Ok well I did in any case . Edit: Whoops I misread don't mind me.
-
Amusement and some help? Human being are randon enough that this game is pretty random at times. What about the reverse then? Say the other CV is a potato and does his own stuff but the Fletcher is good, then won't I be helping my teammate by saving his bacon?
-
Just when i finished grinding both CV lines. Great
-
No worries. WG removed the manual attack for tier 4 and 5 CVs, which is why it doesn't work for you as you're currently at tier 4. Only from tier 6 and above will you be able to use the alt key manual attacks. If you have time and space on your computer and really want to feel how the alt attack is like, maybe you can try downloading the public test server and try the alt key manual attacks there with the higher tier CVs since it's currently live. 2 days left only though.
