incoming fire alert Commanders skills: Priority Target and Incoming Fire Alert
pra3y replied to Adm_Hoshiko's topic in General Discussion
One skill tells you how many people are aiming at you while the other tells you when you're getting shot at and how many people are shooting at you. You tell me which one gives you more info and is better. People can troll with you with PT by just aiming and not shooting but IFA gives you far more concrete information to work on. Lazy sure, but definitely more then enough time to react AnotherDuck. Edit: In case we misunderstand each other im not saying IFA is the best skill compared to PT for all the classes, only for CAs. For BBs and DDs PT would be more suitable although its a 50/50 thing for DDs on how useful it can be. For CV both are unnecessary. -
New captain to US CV line - Fighters losing badly every battle
pra3y replied to Stonedman's topic in Aircraft Carriers
Were you flying near any enemy ships @Stonedman ? Don't forget ships have AA too and the longer you stay within their AA range the more planes you'll lose so like what ColonelPete has said: -

The thing is, being told exactly when you're getting shot at is already pretty erm cheaty already. Knowing from which direction and when you're getting shot at removes the skill element from the game and dumbs it down alot. If you're good or know how to make use of IFA then you'll benefit alot from it but if you expect it to baby you then no it wouldn't really help. In the past I use to solely rely on just IFA itself while playing my CAs. As i grind through the CA lines I learn to incorporate other stuff in with IFA like cover and concealment. The skills are meant to help you but not help you cheat. Might as well ask WG to show you the shell's path so you'll know where exactly it'll land. -

Fair enough, though I prefer RNGesus whispering to me whenever I'm getting shot at it in my CAs -

@Cime this is one reason why I think the extra markers are not needed if you know what you're doing: Broadside baiting with IFA So you're in your Roon, Hindi, Zao, Mogami or any old cruiser. You show that nice broadside to all those nice enemy ships on the other end while letting loose your guns. That of course makes you a very nice juicy target for all those enemy ships. (Assume engagement distance is about mid range) So they'll all aim and shoot at you. Of course they'll have to lead their shoots in front of where you'll be in the next few seconds and then fire their guns thinking what a nice cruiser you are offering up your nice broadside. Your IFA symbol flashes, telling you that you're being shot at. Ok next will be a contradiction of what I said above but hey that's one way of using IFA and this is another As the IFA symbol flashes, quickly do a hard right. Since those shots are "committed" to hitting you where they thought you were going to be and not where you actually will be they'll just splash harmlessly. Since BB guns take time to reload, you get a 20~30 sec breather. CAs are abit tricker since they have fast reload but heck a) they don't do as much damage as a BB shell and b) if you're potato enough to show your broadside to another CA and let it use AP on you without some angling you deserve to sink anyway. So there you have it, one way to use IFA by "controlling" the enemy ships @RAHJAILARI interested now? Doesn't really matter which CA you're in tbh, as long as the rudder shift is decent -

Nah you can actually use it for tanking or angling but only for CAs. BBs are too sluggish and have enough armor to not have to use IFA while a DD relies more on concealment than tanking so..... You should see all those beautiful water splashes when the enemy shells hit the water left and right of my CA -

Actually its pretty easy. a) Everytime the IFA sign flash means someone is shooting at you. 5 flashes means 5 ships and 1 flash means 1 ship. b) Having map awareness. Know what ships there are on the enemy team and what can hit you and what can't from what range. Say start of the game in your CA you push forward to support your DDs and get spotted and shot at. At that point in time when the IFA flashes do not turn away from moving forward. Slow down if you must or angle left or right abit but do not turn away cause you'll just eat broadsides. Also usually only BBs will have the range to smack you at the start of the game. At the end of the day IFA is an abilty that can help you alot but it requires you to know how to use it properly. Ps: on a side note I think there is a bug with IFA right now where if an enemy ship shoots at you a few seconds after you drop back into concealment again the IFA sign will not flash. I feel that its a recent thing since I don't remember something like that in the past and I've always been using IFA. Did WG make any changes to IFA? -
Suggestions for changes of plane dynamics
pra3y replied to dCK_Ad_Hominem's topic in General Discussion
It could potentially up the "rage" at CV players though. Say this change goes through. Given most players often don't realise certain changes from the patches, they'll go " why aren't you spotting torps CV " when you did but it becomes unspotted. If you keep them spotted with the fighters then you can't provide air cover if the enemy cv takes advantage of it and attack the other flank. If you use strike planes, you minimise your damage output and limit your strike support. -
Had a game yesterday where me in a Yamato, along with a Prinz Eugen and Montana were capping at the end of the battle. This OMNI teammate of ours asked us wtf were we capping. When i said to win i was told "wow you aren't winning enough games are you". Same guy who wanted me to charge alone at an amagi, iowa, yueyang, kagero and roon when i had no support from any other BB or CA and only a lone gearing with me. Did i mention both sides have a Midway? Go figure Top clan indeed.

Apearently its not working then. Maybe something more drastic is in order Poor internet or old processor? My old laptop has issues when I play tier 9/10 CVs. Probably all those planes squads giving my processor a run for it's money.

Suggestions for changes of plane dynamics
pra3y replied to dCK_Ad_Hominem's topic in General Discussion
Torps are permernantly "unstealthed" once they're spotted be it by a plane or ship. Good idea from OP but im torn though. On one hand its good team play if a CV player does it or it give sspotter/fighter planes something useful to do. On the other hand, as someone who also play DDs it'll help with my torp hit rate. Decisions -
But how many are actually solo all the way and how many in divisions? If we're gonna talk about the top CV players didn't most of them either played CVs right at the start before all the CV nerfs+they usually play on divisions? If the problem is ppl like El2aZeR then just nerf him and leave poor scrubs like me and the CVs alone. About time WG did something about him. I suggest the server give him lag spikes whenever he's in a CV

a) Has dd level concealment when fully spec out in concealment. b) Has one of the fastest reloading main guns in game. c) Has 10 10km torps on each side that can be launched individually. d) Has pretty solid AA. e) Has smoke. Boring is the last word I'll use to describe the Mino. If you have the balls and brain it's a pretty intense ship.

I don't get why people keep on thinking CVs are overpowered. You list all the strong points of a CV yet ignore the tradeoffs CV have in order to have those advantages. People also seem to forget that this is a team game and not a CV vs all or CV vs CV game. CVs can't solo win a game. Give you a slight edge? Sure. Carry an entire potato team? No. If your team can't take advantage of your help or you can't take advantage of your team's help then you'll still lose. I have plenty of games at tier 10 where my team just split to a & c and camp while the enemu team cluster togethet and push. I can barely strike the enemy team cause I have no AA support against the enemy cv fighters while he can make use of his fighters and team's aa to wreck my planes while making me move my fighters all over the map trying to stop them cause my teammates are that spread out. So yes alot of impact right there for you.

Hahahaha I actually like the Moskva despite it's poor concealment. I try to push forward if I can but usually end up getting badly smack by the enemy team and have to run off and get my health back up. It's pretty fun, especially with reload mod+AR and poof I have a Moskva with under 10s reload . I just try to avoid getting shot at again
-
When you're getting shot by half the enemy team and need to leave the party for a while, you'll realize how important concealment is. Unless you enjoy camping and pew pewing at max range without using the nice radar WG has given the ship to help your team spot those DDs in caps and the like then yes, concealment is important, even for a low concealment ship like the Moskva.
-
You don't play cruisers do you?
-
Wow the amazing Russian bias gave it one of the worse concealment among tier 10 cas. Clear bias there when almost everyone and their grandmother can spot you and shoot at you. Clearly not bias of you to ignore something that important eh

How to shutdown/outplay the Taiho in a stock Essex???
pra3y replied to Battleship_USS_Arizona's topic in Aircraft Carriers
Not doubting you but I'll guess the guy was strafing. RNGesus knows the amount of times I've used that trick to get away from enemy fighters when stuck in a gang up or when I only have a few fighters left and don't want them to die. -
What Were Your Greatest Gaming Achievements Today ?

No need to nerf CVs, just nerf you PS: Man 112 aircraft. I still got a way to go -
How to shutdown/outplay the Taiho in a stock Essex???
pra3y replied to Battleship_USS_Arizona's topic in Aircraft Carriers
As El2aZeR said there is strafing. Then there is also other factors like the fighters turning and flying over mountains which slow down planes. There is also the distance where you spot the enemy fighters. Perhaps you spot then at a distance where even with better speed you will never catch up to them. If im not mistaken the flag u get from clear sky boost fighter speed as well? -
Eh unless im wrong and tier 5 cvs have protected mm as well isnt this normal since mm is +2-2 usually?
-
Enemy CV called me a crazy strafer though and i only got reported one I can go look for the name and pm itnto u if u want. Pepsi's strong point is its insane rudder shift. I once rushed an Iowa in a pre-buffed pepsi and survived Its guns arent that bad as well. Having played all the CA lines to at least tier 8 O would say USN CAs have pretty decent HE, well in comparison to those pre-buffed German ones.
-
Only that first sentence, then i see a whine post again about other classes not supporting a BB.
