Give them a chance El2aZer

None whatsoever. Lets assume that the power of AA will be similar as the current AA model. 3 planes will almost never survive a same tier CA or BB AA and die at a decent rate to a non-AA DD's AA. But you get 4 tries so ¯\_(ツ)_/¯. I mean WG's intention is to make CV fun. Viable on the other hand seems to be a long way to go and I can't really judge anything until I try the rework out and WG finalizes the rework.
-
Just make sure not to complain when the CV is not there to support you in any way, otherwise it'll just be hypocritical.
-
That's the thing, if I'm not wrong Mr Conway said somewhere in this thread that not all the AA was on in the demo we watched and during some earlier testings planes were just shredded to pieces. That's why to me the current concept is balanced to your fear of an infinite hanger space. Your AA will not be so weak that it cannot stop 3 planes coming after you and the time it takes to make those 4 strikes should give you plenty of option to do something about it, full AA or otherwise. Even in a weakened AA state, you don't have to dodge a cross drop or face a sledgehammer drop of 12 torps coming your way, only 3. That being said I'm pretty sure WG will add in some other tweaks as well to balance it out but at present from what I can see an infinite hanger space doesn't really make it instantaneously overpowered late game.

Maybe the Hamsters decided it's finally time for a revolution. Everyone at WG are actually human- shaped mechs piloted by hamsters

Why doesn't it? Throughout an entire game, whenever you're attacked, you're only attacked by 3 planes. Be it at the start of the game where you have 100% AA rating or end game where you have only 15%, that number is currently fixed at 3. That gives you the opportunity to do whatever you can to avoid the damage from 3 torps or 3 bombs every run, be it using your AA when its at 100% or the maneuverability of your ship alone when you have no more AA. If we're talking about AA levels, wouldn't it be unfair for the CV to be unable to do any damage to you at the start of the game then because you have 100% AA rating and just shred the attacking planes to pieces every time the squad comes in for an attack run? Should WG buff planes strong enough so that at least 1 will get through or nerf AA? Does your fear of inequality as the game progresses take this into consideration? Why should you be damage free from any CV attacks at the start of the game when you have full AA? Maybe WG should introduce ship fatigue into the game. After all, a ship that has taken so much damage throughout an entire game shouldn't be able to fire all its guns, go at full speed or have full maneuverability after being shot to pieces. Its not fair that 1 hp Khaba can still do 40 knots after being so badly damaged.

( ͡º ͜ʖ ͡º) Lol it took me awhile to find it. I initially thought it was in Hot Shot or Naked Gun.

IMO the rework makes it easier to kill CVs. Currently if a DD manages to ambush you, you can still try and attack the DD and at the same time directly move your ship to avoid the DD's torps. However, with the rework, base on what we know currently a) you can only set way points for your CV b) you have to focus trying to land hits on the DD since attacks are even more manual now and you can't just do a predictive drop and forget about that DD. With a)+b) you're liable to get sunk much more easily than before. Don't get me started on charting a wrong course on the map, getting spotted and then sank by enemy ships shooting you from afar

Well, I take a more proactive approach tbh. If I'm in my DD and I see CV planes coming in my direction, I tend to run towards the nearest CA or BB and let their AA do their job instead of asking for helping and waiting for it, although any help given without asking is very greatly appreciated. So I technically don't need my teammate to cooperate with me, just close enough to me to take advantage of their AA I doubt they'll be a turnaround in players cooperating more with each other. That requires some other tweaks to be made. There will definitely be players who will cooperate with each other but not all the time and probably spontaneous midway though the game.

Obviously AA doesn't scale up as you go up the tiers and WG hasn't nerfed the hanger capacity of a certain CV and given it lower tier planes recently.
-
I think my answer remains the same. If the CV can only control 1 squad at a time and has to "manually" make attack runs, then there has to be a trade off somewhere to balance this out. Having a hanger capacity balances out the abilities of the current CV gameplay, which alot of people seem to neglect when talking about how OP CVs are. But with the removal of almost any form of ability and a seemingly focus on only dealing damage in the rework model, minimal damage per strike for that matter, CVs need something to allow them to stay relevant for the entire game, just like the other classes. In any case from start to end game you're only being attacked by 3 planes at any given time and the CV player has to manoeuvre the plane every time he makes an attack run. I feel that it gives the target plenty of time to take evasive actions. Remember your own AA is not the only defense against aircraft attack. Friendly AA, hard turn etc are all stuff you can do now and can probably still do so later.

Watching the demo, only 3 planes attack per "wave" so even if there are 12 planes per squad, the whole squad does not attack at the same time. Good enough balance i think.
-
I really hope so. The normal information dump will definitely not be enough for a class rework.

This may be just what the IJN torp boats need

From one of Jingle's video last week: And a game I had the other day: It still feels ridiculously accurate to me.
-
Who knows, there is always a chance you might be that unfortunate DD always getting spotted and then this You have to ask yourself what is better, the full love and undivided attention of a CV player or a CV player getting distracted dealing with multiple squadrons and stuff across the map

Given WG's track record I think some assurance or something on record would be good. I mean they don't have to have a full plan or all the details now but at least an acknowledgement that they'll do something about it. Sometimes they just introduce changes without considering whether or not the entire player base knows it or not. Sure they provide patch notes, update videos and the in-client news tab but I feel for something this major, especially the major shift in role of an entire class, something more needs to be done to change the mindset of the people. Call me selfish but I don't want to play the "new" CVs with my teammates constantly asking/demanding for fighter support or scouting that I cannot give them or asking me to sink an enemy ship chasing after them while I'm targeting another enemy ship halfway across the map from them, and then be abused for it just because they don't know I can no longer provide those stuff for them because WG decided to change the role of CVs to be less influential. That is why I want @MrConway or @Sub_Octavian to at least give us some assurance that they'll ask the Devs or marketing team or someone at WG to do something about it. No point making CVs more player friendly, only for these "new" CV players to be abused in game by the team and be turned off by that right?

Seems kinda contradictory to certain stuff you said earlier but whatever floats your boat. I'll just wait and see how it goes.
-
Not joking here but according to SO they were inspired by Final Fantasy. So now you press a button and fighters will swoop in and er, automatically attack enemy planes.
-
It wasn't confirm was it?

Mate, you can only control 1 squadron at a time now. What you said above is what a CV does now by utilising multiple squads at about the same time. You controlling only 1 squad now lose all that control you previously had. You think with 1 squadron you can stop a push from 3 enemy ships? You think one squad can stop a few enemy ships from capping. You think with 1 squad you can push an enemy's flank? Don't kid yourself. DDs are scout, CAs are utility, BBs are tank while CVs are flexible support. All of them do damage but they have their own roles to play in the game.WG is essentially removing any role the CV has as a flexible support into just a ship there to do damage. So there you go.

I know that its a work in progress, which was why I asked if they have any plans or considerations in properly educating the player base since the changes would be quite major and potentially affect all players negatively. They're more or less going through with a rework, just not set in stone as to what are the final changes. Instead of focusing solely on the rework, they also have to consider how to properly communicate and educate all this changes to the player instead of just chucking pure information at us.
-
??? A CV is responsible for no one with the rework. You just go around dealing damage to whoever you want. That's it. Maybe you can enlighten me as to whom a CV would be responsible for?
-
Tbh for me I've come to realise that people of all age group play this game and some of them may not have the ability or capacity to find such information. Thats why I feel that WG has to step in and do something in order to ensure the entire player base know and understand the changes. Even if they provide the details of those changes and players read them, do you think all the players will understand that there will be no more friendly fighters swooping in to strafe away those enemy planes? Providing information is one aspect but proper education of the changes is another.
