considering number of battles OP played and avg damage i dont believe you did 90% damage every time someone stole your kill. maybe if you only target t1 ship then maybe yes. otherwise fail troll.

i havent seen any legitimate question or forum thread that gets bashed. it usually gets very good response from community and people help. "toxic" are usually threads like: "this game sucks, i am quitting" "i lose all the time, so MM is rigged" "people play better than me, CHEATERS!!!" "weekend warriors again, i am on losing streak" "i play only one class, and other class is OP against me, nerf the other class" "insert random whine thread" "any skybuck thread" see the pattern here? when people come to whine on forums they get bashed. all whine threads except skybucks threads which usually contain so much stupid ideas that people cant resist posting sarcastic comments there (i suspect he is masterful troll considering his years of service, check google for more info). so no i dont see community as toxic, just people dont like whinny babies. if someone sincerely asks for help, he will most likely get it, but if he only came to whine he will get...- 130 replies

avg server xp for shima in last 2 weeks is ~1500xp so 30k xp=20 battles. i didnt include flags and camos and bonuses, but avg xp includes people with and without premium. and if you are using shima as purely torp boat it is easy to have shitty xp gain if people are using wasd (and certainly if player is using 20km torps). shima is great on paper, but it doesnt perform as well as gearing and khaba.

everything is situational. you cant decide tactic for ship without considering situation it is in. if enemy has backup, then it is better to be stealthed. if enemy is going into your torps, it is better to be stealthed. but considering that on t10 you actually find some people who use wasd, it is sometimes hard to actually hit with torpedoes and only way to get damage is to shoot with guns. also not to mention in lot of cases you just cant get close to enemy bb without getting spotted. ijn dd guns have best fire % chance out of all dd so they can set lot of fires with them. while using guns on ijn dd isnt for everyone, gunboat build (or using ijn dd as gunboat) is viable for any player that has little brain and knows how to use it. and no 30k xp is not 3-6 battles in shima. it is more like 10-20 battles (20 if you look at server average xp).

you dont go head to head against other dd with ijn dd. you either finish off low/mid hp dd or try to set fires on bb. if you have some backup with you, you can try to go against full hp dd. on 8+km you can even go against usn dd solo cause of the gun arcs and speed. btw to get to 12km torps, you still have to get xp to research them

ijn dd are good gunboats. just you need to know how to use them properly. yes shima needs to get as close as possible to ships torp with precision, but there are lot of situations where that isnt possible so using gunboat build gives you more versatility in dealing with enemy. e.g. when i played shima with shitty 20km torps i had to use gunboat tactics cause i couldnt get damage any other way.

i am more pissed at WG logic for choosing BoS for all classes of the ship. their logic: 90% of the players use SA, so we will give SA to everyone. 60-80% out of the remaining 10%(so actually 6-8%) of the players are using BoS instead of SA, so we will give BoS to everyone cause it is the next popular skill choice. if players on DD and CA chose BoS over SA then they are brain dead and i dont want WG to choose default skills based on what brain dead players have chosen. -

here is 5.9 update for dummies our research has shown that 60-80% of the players who dont choose situational awareness are BB players and some CV players. nice change no more free cap xp.. does that mean chat messages wont disappear?

wanted to make a poll so someone from WG staff can pass along community opinion of what skill should be default per class instead of BoS for all classes.

well i have distributed t1 skills that i wanted on all captains waiting for this update, but still i have few captains that dont have that extra point and grinding it would be too long. worst thing is that those are among my most high leveled captains...

maybe worthless for players, but i am sure WG support really appreciates the karma system. they would have 10x more tickets if there wasnt one.

setting up one default skill is crappy. they are just forcibly replacing SA which was skill that everyone took for BoS which isnt useful on half of the classes. SA was useful for every class, BoS isnt. and full skill reset should happen whenever they change something great (like torpedo change in ijn DD, there should have been reset there for at least t8+ captains). while i agree that free t1 choice isnt easy, setting up default replacement skills by class is really easy. but i guess there is bureaucracy at work...

big firms have this kind of behavior so everything is documented and there is clear line of responsibility. i have seen programmers spending half of their times on meetings cause of that instead of actually doing programming. and there is always question if it is worth it if there is easy workaround.

seems like CA is split between BFT and BoS.. well i would be fine with either... they cant refund cause it would break their current skill system. they can either full refund (which they wont cause $$) or chose to replace SA with one skill on server side. well they could make so they refund 1 point and you need to choose t1 skill, but that requires some development time (although it is easy to code it, it is possible that there is lot of bureaucratic bs involved which would make 20 minute job into week of development (have seen it in some companies)). so easiest solution is just replace it on server side.
