i will post my general shino strategy/advice if it helps anyone: torp caps at start if you know enemy is coming at that cap (RPF needed), cap if you know he isnt coming. with little luck (and stupidity of enemy dd) you can get free kill or just a torp hit dont enter cap first if you know enemy is coming (RPF again). chances are if you enter that you can eat a torp while dodging enemy guns. scout and position yourself. try to see how many ships are going for the cap. if enemy dd is solo hunt it down (unless it is gunboat, then coordinate with your teammates) if you are aggressively scouting/flanking always have a smoke ready. you dont want to be caught with your pants down after you smoked your bb and enemy dd surprises/detects you and whole enemy team focuses on you. while it may seem selfish, it is better to use selfish smoke and have dd that survived than smoke a teammate (who usually drives through smoke) and having a dead dd. if you are low hp (5k or less) go into back and smoke your bb. wait for end game where everyone is low hp and then go and try to finish off some dd if you are losing. if you are winning stay close to your bb and scout for them. . if you are 12+km (15+km best) away from bb or there is big island in between you can engage on 1v1 vs dd. if you can, bait him into chasing you and shoot him with 2 rear guns. shinos guns are very powerful and can get you up to 2-3k per volley. but they turn slowly and have shitty reload. BFT+AR+SE is very useful build for shino in ranked. use RPF (or radio location as it is now called). it is damn useful to know where is the enemy dd. you can prevent enemy flanking and you can chase and finish off enemy dd. too many players dont use RPF in ranked. dont sit in smoke unless all dd are dead. use smoke as means of retreat or to smoke your allies. sitting in smoke even while in cap is recipe for disaster. if enemy uses RPF be extra careful when you are detected. flank only when you are not detected.

got to rank 1 in 170 battles, could have done it in less than 150 if i didnt take fuso on excursion. while i did lots of damage to enemy with fuso, my dd dying early made it impossible to carry (joys of getting into ranked late in season). so i went back to shinonome and guaranteed my team at least one good dd player. i had my derp moments with shinonome, so thanks to players who carried after i derped also special mention to enemy dd-s in last ranked battle. you were so bad that i complimented you for giving me almost a free rank 1

nah.. it is cause smoke has hallucinogenic properties. when plane pilots inhale it they dont see boats in the water

first time this happened to me. so theoretically if one team is full of afk players they wont lose a star

my biggest problem is suiciding dd-s in my team. i usually mention several times not to enter cap on some maps (e.g. trident) cause you can get torp spammed or spotted and focused by enemy team. and what do ppl do? they enter cap and get killed. sometimes people just dont want to listen

ah the glorious OT. back to the subject. i have only played 2 ships this season and got to rank 3 so far. shinonome and fuso. must say that i havent been thrilled with teams when i got into my fuso. just couldnt compensate for idiot dd in my team with fuso. shinonome performs good, but it is too big and turns like a bucket. maybe i would prefer more of a gunboat for ranked. anshan seems best and gallant also seems good, but i havent played and didnt want to buy any of them. also thought about bringing gnevny into ranked, but lack of torps... bad: dd-s are generally too overconfident and die too quickly(and they dont use RPF so it is easy to ambush them) teams usually dont focus fire even in premier league unless i am only ship visible (specially hurts when i say that i will aggressively scout ) amount of bb that sails broadsided is staggering good: i have seen some good leanders and clevelands that with good positioning could deny lot of area. too bad they were usually in enemy team there are no obvious p2w ships (although some ships have advantage like anshan and maybe gallant)

funny thing is that his kutuzov average damage is better than his mogami and atago average damage by a lot. 64k average damage in kutuzov vs 48k damage in atago vs 44k damage in mogami...

while it seems like good solution, it really isnt.. it is on some level even more punishing mechanism then reducing smoke duration. what would RN CL do ingame? now you dont affect their survivability, but you affect their dpm drastically... even now they have questionable penetration on angled targets and you want to add 50% dispersion nerf to them? -

i would like to see this game go back to open beta stage. cause even with OP CV meta, BB werent dominant, AA CA were actually a thing and there was teamplay cause you couldnt survive if you went in solo... game was way more fun then... -

like nerfing torps did? if you want to make players more mobile, nerf BB so they dont do 10-15k damage to DD with AP. nerf BB so they dont overpopulate server and make playing cruisers offensively impossible. make it so cruisers can push cap points and radar if needed... and what about RN CL? only viable way to play them is to smoke up and spam ap at enemy. sure you can find odd island here and there to spam shots over, but in 90% of the cases you need smoke to effectively deal damage cause islands dont cover all direction.
