Thunderhart replied to DanSilverwing's topic in General Discussion
I dont know if they changed the Hermelin, but that thing used to be a little beast. Short range, but accurate guns. Very good ap for its class. I have only one game in Hermelin, but what a game. That game gave me a Kraken.:-) Thunderhart. -

Radio Position Finding. I am one of the BBabies. I play allmost exlusively BBs. Because thats what i like. In Closed Beta i played 169 battles in BBs and after release ive played 1860 battles in BBs. This puts me over 2000 matches in BBs. My stats are not stellar, but ok, there is still a lot of room for improvement for me as a player.. This is my perspective as a long time BB player : With a little experience a BB player can often predict where torpedoes from DDs would be comming from and if possible point your nose of aft so u dont have to turn much to dodge torps. Another way is to be on alert if u are spotted, and if u pass by terrain that blocks vision between whos spotting you, you will get unspotted and by this u can get a hint of the general direction of that hidden ship that is spotting you, which is often a DD. U can also use Catapult fighters or Spotting planes to spot dds if u suspect one or several are lurking close to you. And also paying attention to spotted DDs and typical DD ambush points on the map. If you as a BB player, with all these methods and tools still gets torped, u have only yourself to blame. I sometimes gets torped to death by a DD, it is very rare, but i know that the fault is mine and that i have only myself to blame for not paying enough attention. DDs are flimsy little tincans with low hp and very little, if any armour, they often take huge risks to help the team, and more than often risking being killed very fast. Their stealth is imperative to extend their survival. DDs have enough stacked against them as it is with a lot of ships carrying Hydro, Radar, Spotting planes, Catapult fighters and CV planes that can spot them. Radio Position Finding is the last thing this game needs introduced.. I have not been at the test servers, testing the new skills, but what ive seen from youtube videos of people testing Radio Position Finding, horrifies me. This could be the death of DDs in this game. It is an illconceived idea that will have very negative long term effects for the game as a whole. DDs are important in this game and have its place in it. Instead of introducing skills like this to cater to new players that struggles to deal with hidden destroyers that lobbing torps their way, why not educate new players tru a mandatory and good tutorial made by good players in cooperation with WG. Let ppl in the high level comp. scene help WG with this. These are the right ppl to do this. Make the tutorial a part of the lover level gameplay. The first one or two tiers for each class. This will lift the general level of players and how to deal with DDs and other matters. Suggestion : Use increased xp, silver, upgrades, camos, flags, even low level premium ships as reward for finishing such a tutorial. Incentivice players... It is a known fact that most gamers are men. As men, most of us are highly competative. Most of us explore our own potential as players and want to work on becomming better as players, no matter what game we love. We often spend a lot of money to get the best gear, whether its ships or other digital items, so that the only thing remaining that can can be improved is ourself as players. This makes us want to improvers, whales, (Moneyspenders) The drive to improve is a potent force that keeps many of us here. The long term effects of diminishing the skill level in this game: By lover the skillevel in the game, in part removes the driving force of the hardcore players to improve. Letting Radio Position Finding make it to the live servers could long term diminish the hardcore playerbase, It will also ruin the DDs as a viable class. In turn by ruining DD gameplay u will also slovly andsurely diminish your core playerbase. And a game with a small core playerbase soon becomes a game in decline. Which long term will hurt WGs income on WOWs. Radio Position Finding is a quick, but very bad way of solving a problem, that could be solved in other ways with better long term consequences. Sry for the wall of text. I wish everyone a Happy New year.:-) Thunderhart.:-)- 915 replies

Nerfing the bow armour on BBs to solve the bow in standoffish passive behaviour that ocurr in some matches will have the opposite effect of what they hoped. Why push in bow first if u can get citadelled more easily from the front. It will actualy punnish those that play agressively and push in their bbs. It will create more of the long range sniping that we see in high tier matches. This becase of dispersion at long ranges.. I dont know what mupped came up with this hopeless idea. But it will backfire bigtime... Thunderhart
