Why are BBs hanging back and how to fix that?

No one has to be punished. Just reward those "doing the right thing" better.

Why are BBs hanging back and how to fix that?

You don't win battles by avoiding danger. Playing defence only works if you have something to defend and to get that you have to play offence first. It's not how long you survive, it's what you do while you're alive that matters. The teams are as most balanced when the game starts. The goal is to change the balance in your favor. How do you plan to do that by being passive? Sure, you can wait for one of your teammates to do something or for the enemy team to mess up. But by doing that you give up what control you had over the battle and rely soley on the actions of others. If enough players on one team acts that way the whole team will become punching bags. Solution? BE ACTIVE! I've studied war and warfare for about 30 years and one thing always comes back: The active part usually wins. (It's called "initiative".) Yes, the defender can win but that usually has to do with the strategic position. (Strategic offence vs. tactical defence, medieval castles often works this way.) Now, I don't play WoT but I keep an eye on it (mostly QB) and I've noticed that when someone takes a hit it's : "Ohhh, I lost some HP!" That mindset doesn't work in WoWs. Especally when playing BBs. The way I see it it should be: "I'm going to lose some HP here. What will I do to the enemy while that's happening?" YOU WILL TAKE DAMAGE! GET USED TO IT! He-slingers are all about DPM. DPM = "Damage-over-time" The key-word here is "time". He needs time to do damage. Don't give him time. How do I give him time? I stay at range and shoot full-spread salvos at him and give him time to manuever and shoot back. Don't. Give. Him. Time. BBs are the core of the fleet. They have the most HP. They have the most armor. The have the biggest guns. They should be in the thick of battle and all the other classes are to work around them. If you click the battle-button in a BB then your job is to go in harm's way. All of you saying "Yeah, but…." don't have the mindset of a BB-captain and should never be allowed to command a battleship ever again. Are you men or are you mice? I could go on for hours about this but the bottom line is that if you want to camp the back then nothing I can say will change your mind. Truth is that active players will do better than passive ones. Which one will you choose to be? It all comes down to your mindset. Hanse77SWE, an active 57% WR WoWs player.

Why are BBs hanging back and how to fix that?

I would like some CC try this out: Set up a trainingroom. Invite some friends. Everybody pick a BB with >20 km range. (Some DDs for spotting might be of use.) Everybody has to fire from at least 20 km away. Time how long it takes to sink a BB that way. Do the same but no BB can fire from beyond 15 km. Time how long it takes to sink a BB that way. Compare notes. Present results to the community. I know that this will show that shooting at a closer range in more effective.

Why are BBs hanging back and how to fix that?

"Be the change." Push when you play BBs and let the border-humping wannabe-snipers hang in the back untill they understand that they will always be at the bottom of the score-card unless they change their ways. "When in doubt: Attack!"

Super Container Loot Thread [ topics merged ]

I have gotten three in the last eleven day without even choosing "Try your luck". I'm scared. When something like this happens, bad things usually follows.
  6. As a casual I play neither Ranked or Clan Battles. The real question is how long I will play the game at all. It feels like WG is pumping content into a flawed system. Complex mechanics, multitasking, 300+ ships to keep track of, short term missions and gimmicks. But the core, the soul of the game gets weaker and weaker. I miss the "old" style of Campaign that I could do at my own pace without deadlines and railroading. My plan is that if I'm not 100% satified with the implementation of the submarines, then I'm gone.

CV's shouldnt be in the game, by a CV player

IMHO CVs can't be balanced due to the range and speed of the planes. They will allways outrun, outrange and outspot all other classes and to bring balanace to that things like damage would have to be nerfed into the ground. I'm with Flamu on this one: The basic concept of CVs in the game is fundamentally flawed. No balancing can save it.

DD Tactics for first 5 minuets

Sorry, but I've died in a cap too many time to take that for granted so my rule of thumb is that if the team doesn't psuh for the cap then neither do I.

DD Tactics for first 5 minuets

My to-do list is as follows. 1: Scout 2: Screen you team. 3: If possible, take out enemy DDs. 4: Cap if possible. 5: Help focus down lager ships. At low tiers DDs can rush ahead and fight for the caps but that don't work in the higher tiers. There you have to wait for your team to push and "cover the cap" before you can take it.

CV's shouldnt be in the game, by a CV player

As far as I'm concerned CVs could be removed and replaced with an "Air-strike-consumable". But all of this will soon be a moot point for me as with the introduction of subs I will probably stop playing. The complexity of the game are turning it into 3D-chess with extra bells and whistles. I can see why new players fail to grasp the game when the stuff I learned during four years are dumped into their laps all in one go. This can also be the reason for the growing toxicity in the game. If my interest in the game drops even 1% after the subs enter, I'm out. Used this one before but it still rings true.

why german BBs should be the worst BB line in game?

Doesn't change anything. German BBs are still built for close range brawl and getting into close range means taking damage. No way around it. To get the most out of a german BB the whole team have to play aggressive. If they don't then that is a "player-problem", not a "ship-problem". Every time you choose to play a german BB you choose to go all-in. If you don't like to play like that way or you don't think it will work then you shouldn't play a german BB. Choose the tools that are best suited for the work at hand. Also: It's not about if you survive, it's what you do before you die that matters. If your push killed you but paved the way for your team to win then the push was the right thing to do. If you get focused down and die alone, then it wasn't.

why german BBs should be the worst BB line in game?

Ehhhh…….. because it's not? They take cits at long range because their armor is built for close range brawl. The gun dispersion is good enough for close range brawl. They have 2ndarys that are very good at close range brawl. Concelament doesn't matter because it should be played at close range anyway. Ergo: They should be played at close range. Anything else is just a waste of time.

Italian cruisers are intentionally that bad?

This was my first random match in the Amalfi. Remember that she can't start fires and the torps are not very good so 96k isn't bad for a first game. Now, I play mostly co-op and here are my co-op stats after nine games. The thing that stands out is the main battery hit ratio. Zara has 73% Trento 51% Raimondo Montecuccoli 52% Genova 56% (These are my stats BTW, not for the entire server.) If you know where to aim and when to fire these ships can dish out a lot of hurt. (Took a DD for 8k in one salvo today.) The torps works best as last ditch weapons or area denial weapon. I feel that for every game I have in them I learn something new. Just like the RN cruisers, the Italians need to be played in a way of thier own. Give it time and try other things than just the "Standard play" and these ships will work well.
  16. Dear WG. We've been over this before. I've already asked all of my friends if they want to play and they all said "No". I've asked total strangers and they said "No". Heck! I've even asked my boss at work and he said "No". As we say in Sweden :"You can't pull the hair of a bald man." You can offer gold and wealth but that won't produce more people for me to ask. Sincerely, Me

    Reporting & etiquette

Report: 1: Namecalling in chatt. 2: Excessive cursing. 3: Passive gamplay. (Does nothing or close to it) Doesn't report: 1: Teamdamage. (He already got his punishment.) Compliments: 1: Helps in chat (Answers questions or just basic comunication/info.) 2: Tries to to the right thing. ("Good idea, too bad it didn't work out.")
  18. I got all four from premium containers so the correct answer would be "0". But it would also be wrong.

    Edited* in clans?

I started [INTRO] for the economic benefits and was alone for the first six months. Didn't bother me. Then I did a shoutout in a FB-group and some more joined. Today we are 30 members and have an almost fully built base. We gather oil, keep an eye out for news and gift-codes. Help eachother with tips and tricks and anyone is free to ask if anyone else wants to div. up. No one's forced to do anything but if you're too inactive (at least 21 days) then you can be kicked out. We do Naval Battles but that's about it. "Pull your weight, reap the benefits." Most of us are swedish but anyone's welcome. Out of 30 members 12 are on our FB-group, we have a discord set up and if enough members want to play CB then we'll do it. That's it. As casual as they come. P.S. We have five empty slots if some one wants to join. D.S.
  20. On the italian smoke... I had three enemy ships about 10 km infront of me and I felt the need to get out of there. Popped smoke. Full speed. Full rudder. I got away without taking a single hit. I've also used it to rush in and torp a couple of times.

Why WoWS creates toxic players and fix

WG doesn't create toxic players. Some humans are toxic no matter what. Every time someone rages in chatt the game deterioates a bit more. Don't be that guy. You can't change how a person behaves with some foul language in some gamechatt so don't even bother. Lead by example. Take the moral highground and be humble about it. The only one you have full control over are yourself. What will you do with that control?

Are you joining us for Dreamhack?

Stockholm is another 300 km north of Jönköping from where I live so that won't help. I'm not too old to game. I'm just too old to hang out in loud crowds.

Are you joining us for Dreamhack?

I'm not going to be there. 1: 200 km drive on small roads (Or a full day on a train) 2: I'm brooke. 3: I'm too old to hang out on places like that. You kids have fun though!

Player base skill Level in this game is a SAD

I'm gonna use something I learned from my father: "I didn't ask what you couldn't do. I asked what you could do." And you can always do something. Two scenarios: 1: DD rushes of to the cap, alone, and dies. 2: DD doesn't rush of alone, but stays back to screen the rest of the team. In both cases the DD get screamed at in chatt because "He didn't do his job!" and your team will most likely lose. Let's try a third scenario. 3: The DD goes forward, makes first contact, comes under fire and have to disengage and fall back. We're now back at Square 1 with the difference that the enemy team has moved up and now holds the cap. One last scenario. 4: The DD moves up but this time the rest of the team moves with him so they are in good positions when first contact is made. Now the enemy team have more than one target to shoot at and the chance for the survial of the DD is far greater than in scenarios 1 and 3. I have some "Ground Rules" that I try to stick to. "When in doubt: Attack!" "It's better to act than to react." "Choose the option that give you the most options." "It's the ship up front that decides what to do. If you're not the ship up front, then your job is to support the ship that is. NO MATTER WHAT!" '"It doesn't matter if you survive or not. All that matters is what you did before you died." Bottom line: Don't bother yourself with what others do. Focus on what you are doing. What you do in response to what your teammates do and lead by example. The only person on that playingfield you have full control over is yourself. What are you doing with that control?

Player base skill Level in this game is a SAD

I'm on the board of my housing cooperative and I see the same problem here. It doesn't matter how much information we put in the mailboxes, how many meetings we set up or how much we try to explain to our members, there will always be: "I didn't get any info in my mailbox." 40 people out of 400 coming to the meeting. "I don't care what the law says, I want it this way!" I see the same thing in the game. Ignoring game mechanics then complaining about it. Not reading the info WG "hands" out and then complaining about it. Trying to change the game to suit you rather than adapting to the circumstances. WoWs is easy to play but it's hard to play well. You need to put some effort into it to "git gud" and most players doesn't seem to bother. Some say "If WG put in some skill-test then people will learn" but I doubt it. The potatoes will still just walk straight through, come out the other side and still haven't learned anything. "You can lead a horse to water, but you can't make it drink." Also, when I see/hear people complaining about DDs geting killed early in the game, my question to them will always be: "What did you do to help him?" We can't demand teamwork from others and at the same time ignore it ourselves. We can't put all the blame on WG and claim that our own actions have nothing to do with it.
