My feedback on the state of Co-Op play (and a few other things)
Hanse77SWE replied to Kiwi1960's topic in General Discussion
I play only co-op (and some operations) these days and I feel that a queue-time of 60 seconds would help alot. I've been waiting for a game and there are 10-15 ships in the queue but when the game starts it's just me and some other poor soul among the bots. Not fun. About team-damage. I don't see the point of punishing ramming-damage at all. It happens way to often and sometimes you have to do it to avoid torps and such. Losing a litte HP is OK, getting a huge pink marker that say that you are a bad person isn't. Especially if I'm the one being rammed. I also don't see the point of having the player hit by friendly fire losing HP. He did no wrong so why should he be puinshed? Remove team-damage but let the offender be warned, and if repeated, punished. I would also like to see a change so that you can't lose credits in co-op. Yes it's not meant to pay of as much as randoms but the fact that you can lose "Money" by playing the most casual part of the game is somewhat wrong. "0" credits is OK if you had a "bad" game, but "- 100 000" isn't. At least since it happens sometimes that the whole red team goes one side and the players on the other side doesn't even get a chance to do anything. EDIT: This just happend. -

Can CVs be made unreportable? I am tired of being constantly chat banned

You're right. Why do I waste my time with a game that I no longer enjoy to play? I will follow your advice and stop wasting all our time. Thank you! -

The solution could be an off map air strike consumable. That would mean that ships would still have use for the AA but the planes wouldn't be controlled by a single player farming other ships while at the same time being untouchable. I think like this: * Number of "strikes"/player is set by tier. Low tier = 0 strikes. Mid tier = 1 strike. High tier = 2 strikes. Premium and SI gives one more each. * The strikes have a long cooldown so that one player can't spam it. * A max number of active strikes/team prevents the team from spam. * Plane loadout of the strikeforce is different between the nations. * Number of planes/wave increases with tier. I can't decide if the strike should be called in on an area and the planes attack a random enemy ship in that area, or, if it only should be able to be called in on a ship that is spotted. (If the ship becomes unspotted the planes go to the last reported position and if the ship is respotted they attack.) The first one has less control and can be used to scout out something like a cap being flipped. Not fun for DDs. The second is a bit better since it require some work before the strike can be called in and prevents the strikes from being used as scouts. I.e. the attack is made on a known target. This is not a perfect idea but it's a start. I have no clue if it can be done but if we can have bot-CVs in the game then this should be possible. -
Weekly Combat Missions: "303 Squadron"
Hanse77SWE replied to The_EURL_Guy's topic in News & Announcements
It's not for the ship. It's for the cammo. If you do the mission and get the cammo then it will be there waiting for you when/if you get the ship. -
Funny thing when BB-drivers think that falling back will help against HE-spam. A clue. It doesn't. HE-spammers needs time to do damage. Don't. Give. Them. Time. There are ways to do it but it requires taking a risk and as long as players are soooo afraid to get their pixels scratched I doubt anything will change. Best way is if the whole team pushes and focus said HE-spammers as fast as possible. But good luck with that as long as the cammping-meta rules. The solution to the problem is a change of tactic, not to enforce a tactic that clearly doesn't work.

I've sugested to push the queue-time to 60 s. but no takers so far. Also the points-system should be removed in Co-Op since very few game comes to that.

Doing well in a ship doesn't mean I like it and liking a ship doesn't mean that it's good. Don't mix the two up. This is just another "I don't like this ship therefore it must be crap"-thread. Players assuming that everybody must think/feel like them. Well, it's not so please stop it. You're not helping anyone, at least yourself.

Hey, Wargaming let's try this for CV direction?
Hanse77SWE replied to LowSpeedHighDrag's topic in General Discussion
CV's can outrun, outrange and outspot any other class in the game without even risking their HP. They break the mold, spit on balance and laugh at an even playingfield. It has nothing to do with ships since it's aircraft that's the active part, not the ship. They shouldn't have been in the game in the first place. -
No. Before 0.8.10 the Amalfi was classified as a "Special ship" that could use any captain of the right nation. After 0.8.10 she is a regular ship that needs a captain trained for her.

"Genny" bad? Funny, I've never noticed.

I doubt Tre Kronor for T 10. She's about the size of an Omaha and has a seven gun broadside, T6, T7 tops. -
Playing for fun / Frustration... The core issue with the game?
Hanse77SWE replied to DFens_666's topic in General Discussion
I play almost exclusively Co-Op nowadays. I just don't want to deal with the drama, frustration and toxcicity. That keeps me away from Randoms, Ranked and Clan Battles. Scenarios can be fun but I feel that there are too few and too far between my favorites for it to be worth it. Just to play the same scenario over and over again for a week is bit boring. Room for improvement there. I have two goals in the game. One long-term and that is to unlock and buy (almost) all the ships in the game. The other is to have a satisfactory experience, fun in another word. But what is fun? For me it's the equivalent of the medeival melee at a tournament. Two teams with similar equipment on a even playing field. "Here are we! There are you! Let's get at it!" That's what I'm looking for! And the funny thing is that Co-Op is the best place for this since bots will never back down or run away, they will fight to the end no matter what. This is also the reason that I believe that neither CV or Subs should be in the game. Archers/crossbowmen and ninjas had no place in the melee because of the nature of their weapons and tactics disrupting the even playing field. So for me it's: CV and Subs = uneven prerequisites= Less fun. Playing the game well is fun/satisfactory for me but if all the other players are playing the game as an archery contest instead of a melee then I'll have to find myself another game to have fun. Right now the things that drag the game down for me are: *The players. * CVs and Subs. * The teamdamage mechanics. * The lack of mission-based tasks/goals in the game. I'm finding less and less of "fun" in the game and see fewer and fewer reasons to keep on playing. Sad, but true. -
These ships can't be played as HE-spamming, fire-starters so many players struggle with them. If you missplay them they will hurt you but if you can figure them out they will reward you. Same as any other ship.

You learn, or you die. Your call.

That it's a thinking mans game. You have to reevaluate the situation over and over again. Use you experience and knowledge to devise a plan and hopefully come out on top. Nothing is written, nothing is given. What are you going to do?
-
What's needed is consistency. If an action gives different results each time then we're all in for the mother of RNGs. The probability drive would look like russian presidential elections compared to that.

*Retrain captains *Demount upgrades *Premium ships *Premium time *Portslots (on discount)

I've played 12k games over four and a half years. Never been chatbanned. How? "If you can't say anything nice, don't say anything at all."

"Flexible premium time" will be very hard to measure and be sensitive to meddling. Does it count just when you play or when the client is active? Perhaps premium time should be for a set number of battles instead? In Armored Warfare all premium time bought or recived are placed in your inventory so you can activate it when you want to. I find this to be a better system. I haven't played in ages but this is what it looks like:

None of the above. Both problems has a solution as does every other "problem" in the game. Act accordingly.

Four in 14 Days!? I have no idea what's going on anymore. -
Simply put: "Git Gud!" That meaning that you should learn what you can by reading stuff and watching stuff to know the mechanics of the game and remember what works and doesn't work after a game is over. Learn the armor of the ships so you can protect your weak points and at the same time hit them on your enemies. Learn speed, reload-time, torp-range, gun-range and turret-speed of the ships so you can use it to your advantage. Learn how to aim, what to fire, when to fire and sometimes, even if you should fire at all. This is not easy and it will not win games for you but it will increase your chances. There are no "One size fits all"-way to play so you'll have to find out most of this for yourself. There are hundreds of little things you have to think of in the heat of battle. What ship am I in? What ships are on my team? What ships are on the enemy-team? What is my team doing? What is the enemy team doing? Who has the points-lead? How much time is left? What ship am I shooting at? What ammo should I use? Where should I go? Does anyone on my team need my help? Which enemy do we need to take down first. And so on...…. There are no way in hell that anyone could tell you how to act in each and every situation. The variables are endless and so are the solutions. The only way to get a good grip on it is to play alot and have an open mind. I would say "Stop asking others how they do and find out for yourself." Nothing beats experience. One of the things I love about this game is that it's equal parts knowledge and gut feeling. Somethings you have to know, other things you got to feel. Just do your best. Sometimes you can turn a game. Sometimes you can't. Sometimes you'll see that your team can't win this game and all that remains is to go down swinging. You will lose and you will die, just sell yourself dearly. Doesn't matter win or lose. As long as you are at the top half of your teams scoreboard, you've done well. Tell yourself "Well played!" (because no one else will) and go once more unto the breach dear friend. Most likey the next game will be nothing like the last but the day will come when you'll go "I remember this!" and, hopefully, you'll use what you learned so long ago. Each game is a lesson. What will you learn from it?
