I think I have said this before, but I do love your picture. Sadly I just lost my dog - still have the three of my wife and daughter though.

I start quite a few fires with the secondaries on the Fiji. I sometimes use the flag to increase range but obviously not the increased fire risk! Agree that Bismark/Tirpitz are monsters with secondary build though.

Just had a Graf Spee complain that my Fiji was bouncing his shells! He did it in a very nice way but was clearly astounded, as indeed was I! Didn't bounce the Tirpitz shells unfortunately though!

Doesn't having a US passport make you liable to US taxes? A friend of ours gave up hers recently and it cost her quite a lot of money! On the May 4th, it was the 75th anniversary of the defense of Cowes by the Blyskawica. A truly remarkable ship and crew - was remembered on the BBC news today.

Friday was the 75th anniversary of the defense of the Isle of Wight by the Blys. Wonderful ship and courageous crew.

Thank you for pointing this out - not all of us read all the news.

The arc is fine but you need to get closer. Firing at maximum range is a waste of time on the whole - 10km seems to be about right and against DDs, 6km is deadly. Stealth allows you to get close and then drop smoke and waste them. Still not sure if I prefer Belfast or Fiji as both have distinct advantages and disadvantages. Have taken to only really playing them and destroyers as BB play is so slow. Wish Belfast was quicker on the accelerator though - and the brakes!

Of course win rate is important - it allows one to judge when one improves. Of course you can cheat by seal clubbing a lot but at the end of the day the information is only really useful to yourself. Mine seems pretty static these days at around 54% as I played a lot in the beginning very badly!! My XP count continues to rise and I only play solo but try to always be helpful. Don't hide my stats but don't advertise either as they only really matter to me.

30 days of Premium and 10,000,000 credits in last couple of weeks. Don't need the credits but the premium was nice surprise. Would prefer useful flags - did get some module but these are not much cop.

Actually, despite being British, I agree mainly with AnuSuaraj. The Royal Navy was the biggest in 1939 and had been since well before the start of the century. This of course covers the majority of the timescale covered by this game. If there had been a direct fleet action between Britain and Japan in 1941, the Japanese would have had a huge advantage as their carriers would have wiped out the much smaller strike force offered by the British carriers. After that it would have been a torpedo soup served up and without the support of allies, I would imagine the Japanese would win. This is assuming the conflict was in the Far East of course as I doubt anyone would suggest the Japanese were about to invade Europe! As far as the US Navy is concerned, the ability to churn out the number of cruisers and destroyers that the Americans could was far in excess of anything the British could hope to achieve. That is not to belittle the efforts of the British yards, who were under attack unlike the Americans, but is simply stating facts. I also don't think anyone would argue that the later ships would easily outmatch the corresponding British ships - Iowa vs Vanguard, Baltimore vs London (and there were 14 Baltimore class ships!) and against the 24 Battle class destroyers they had 105 Gearing class. Of course the US Navy was the best at the end of WW2 - the fact that the Royal Navy was next was incredible given the size of country and the fact that they had suffered such grievous losses during the war. And we mustn't look through rose tinted glasses - the KGV class were not great sea boats due to the requirement that they should be able to fire the main armament at zero elevation straight ahead and no matter what anyone says, would have been better with 9 16" guns rather than the 14" fitted, due to adherence to treaty regulations - these issues were rectified partially in the Vanguard and more fully in the proposed Lion class. The Hood was described as the Navy's biggest submarine as the rear deck was almost always under water. The fact that they did so well was testament to the crews.

To say the Italians were nothing sells them very short. The Italian navy was designed to have a strength of 35% of that of the US or the UK and was obviously all in the Mediterranean. This was one of the major reasons that Churchill was worried about the French fleet falling into Axis hands as that would be another 35% and that in addition to the German fleet would result in very similar numbers of ships, most of which were more modern than those deployed by the RN. Luckily for the British, the Italians, though possessing excellent ships, were poorly led though as seen in the chariot raid, exceptionally brave. The German fleet, though small, had been built with no regard to naval treaties and therefore were also modern and often better specified that the British counterparts. They did however have faults of their own, possibly as a result of a loss of experience following WW1 in large warship construction. One should remember however that as far as war losses of major warships are concerned, the German fleet lost 827 ships, the vast majority being submarines, the Italians lost 141 and the Japanese 335. The Royal Navy lost 278, the majority being destroyers. The US lost around 157.

At the beginning of the war, the Royal Navy was the biggest navy in the world. The US Navy eclipsed it during WW2 - probably around 1942 - and have continued doing so ever since. As to the best, as far as ships went, the British were hamstrung by lack of money and the novel concept of actually sticking to Naval Treaties! However the size of the navy allowed them to perform well and the training of the crews were certainly as good if not better than any other. Now you could easily argue that the IJN had the most powerful navy for some time in about 1941 as they had invested massively in aircraft carriers which were the most effective capital ships at the time. None the less, the Royal Navy would have struggled if it had not been for the help of the US even in the Atlantic. As it was, the alliance of the two proved to be a winning combination. I always appreciate an Atlanta around when in my Fiji! And a Fletcher or two is also most welcome! Like the bulldog by the way - I have basset hounds!

I think it will be interesting to see how it performs in the hands of the great unwashed - I suspect it will be pretty average. Because of what it was, it will be bought by everyone who is British and has the cash. Unfortunately many will be tier 3 players and it will be a turkey shoot for the seal clubbers. Bit like the Tirpitz really. I think the British sense of humour works badly on the whole in most forums, but humour it is! I think the Danes get it!

Why WG is so biased against anything British?[Espesialy LEANDER]?

Not so sure about that - the problem with earlier RN cruisers is that they were designed for servicing an Empire which existed round the globe and therefore were jack of all trades. Other nations had very different demands. As said earlier in this thread, the RN also relied on numbers - the navy was designed in WW1 to be able to take on the two next biggest navies and still win. I do find this thread interesting - I play RN cruisers almost exclusively - particularly T7. I play them like destroyers as I think they share a lot of the same characteristics. The Fiji is simply brilliant - I would always chose her over any other T7 cruiser - the US line goes down hill from T6, the Myoko seems very fragile - very easy to kill in a Fiji, the Russian T7 has no really special characteristics and I have not seen anything in the French line that makes me eager to change to that. The only bias I see is that WG have created a monster! -
The major problem with the Emerald is the magnetic citadel which attracts shells - if I see one, I know I will get a citadel with every volley. Must be rubbish for the other player.
-
Leander is much better but Fiji is light years ahead. I think she is the real sweet spot - lots of guns, nice torps and seems neat and small and very agile. Emerald is awful - so bad that is actually quite funny and a real challenge - one of the few ships I free XP'd as I had plenty.
-
I reckon I saw one player last night who will have received more reports in one game than any other. From the very start, he just pressed the F keys continually in All chat until eventually he was killed. It completely ruined the game for both teams and our team eventually told the opposition where he was, as he wasn't fighting but sailed to a map edge. I had thought you could block this but it didn't seem to work. I would be surprised if everyone didn't give him any reports they had - and quite right too!

I think almost all the RN ships are really rather good - or at least interesting. Even the dd has the long range torps and the lower level cruisers teach you to watch the mini map. I rather liked Caledon - Emerald is, I am afraid, the red headed child, but it does allow one to practice getting citadels if in any other RN cruiser! Saw a brace of Hoods in action last night and they seemed great. Seemed to bow tank well against Gneisenaus and we won the game so not like the adage of the team that has the most Colorados/Atlantas/Tirpitz always loses! Seems less true in the case of Colorados these days! -
Can I have the camo seen in the Naval base port as shown in the attached file ! I think it may be slightly OP!
-
Apparently a fault with the Mac wrapper so WG can do nothing about it - unfortunately only affects Naval dock so invisi firing not back!

"In every ship line there are "diamonds"." And in some, there are Emeralds! -
It is a rubbish flag - I have many and would sell them if it were easier on a Mac! Actually take back the last bit - the inventory is now available on the Mac - sold a pile of useless camos!

You have to remember that the Artillery score is artificially low due to the lack of HE. Once you have played RN cruisers, you realise that the better AP you get is actually rather good and as long as you pick your targets, you do well. Leander does pretty well at Tier 6 - does seem odd she is against the Cleveland though, but that has been nerfed so much that only astronauts can see the shell arc. -

In opposition - and didn't notice myself till the end! You were doing your best but your team's Scharnhorst sat still for large parts of the battle - and even I can hit that! -

Met MaxxyNL in his Sims on Two Brothers whilst in my Fiji - had been having a rotten day in it but this reversed the cycle - good team mates and drove off the push into A, the other half of our team took the other flank and pushed sown the middle so Maxxy and the rest went to defend but in vain. Nice to do well in a team when someone from the forum around! A good game though.I complimented Maxxy though I doubt he noticed me!
