I did what you did and shot up the tiers too quickly and had a sub 50% WR. Essentially, I stank. I therefore went back to a low tier ship (in my case the Tier 3 St Louis) and played her till I was better. Once there, I then played different classes and am now passably acceptable, despite being decidedly aged compared to most players. (In later 50s) The game is far more fun when you can top the score board and although I have days where I still emit a bit of a whiff of my previous stinkiness, I have learned how play as part of a team. Dropsiq amongst others, pointed out that to do well, it helped not to die too early as battles are rarely won in the first 5 minutes but can be lost. Watch plenty of replays, and when you die, watch the remainder of the battle and see how others play. Flamu is clearly one to watch but in reality is too good, at least in his shown videos. Watching Jingles is amusing as you will see both good and bad play which is rather more representative. And get a Fiji - best ship in the game!!

Sailed almost exclusively cruisers, got to Rank 9 and had had enough - however Karma up to 115 - I reckon all the Fusos that one shotted my Leander gave me Karma for pity!

Good idea - let's make them a decent size and model them from gold. Of course that will weigh a lot, slow the ship down and make Blogis so slow that either he will never reach the fight or so slow that he will be blown out of the water by all and sundry - but he will die a known hero's death! (British humour alert!)

Got him, though bought three using my duplicates - is on the Gallant for now and upskilled to 14.

Never check in battle - have looked after once or twice at people who have been particularly obnoxious! I do look at who is in team - always good to see a clan or two, (particularly if Omni or OM on my team!!) and also to see if any forumites as I always send a compliment, even if they die ignominiously!

I would argue that is was not pointless but a lot more should have been done to avoid it. It is certainly not something that should be regarded as anything but a waste of brave lives. I think if the roles had been reversed, there would have been considerable reaction by the British couched in similar terms that you have mentioned. However at the time, the British were standing alone against a victorious German regime and the only area in which they were superior was in naval forces. The ships of the French Navy when added to those of the Italian and German forces would have meant that this may well have not have been the case. As I said before, a tragic day for both nations.

Of course it was slightly more complicated than that! A number of units of the French Fleet elsewhere were either captured or agreed to demilitarise, Cairo and the West Indies being two examples and the Surcouf, Paris and Bretagne were captured whilst in British ports. I know the French Fleet were scuttled, but that was after the fall of the Vichy government and the threat was that under the Vichy government, there was a risk that these capital ships could be used against the British, or at very least would be a potential threat. The resistance to US and British forces shown at Casablanca during the TORCH operation only confirmed the threat was there. The impasse at Mers-el-Kebir was largely to a degree of pigheadedness shown by Admiral Gensoul and a lack of the finer skills of diplomacy by Admiral Somerville. A more junior officer had been sent to conduct the negotiations which clearly had rankled with the French Admiral - the reasoning by the British was that he spoke fluent French, which Somerville did not, and that there would be less chance of any misunderstanding. Withe the benefit of hindsight, Somerville should have gone as well and the French Admiral was less likely to have taken umbrage. As it was, this was a tragic day for both nations, with the French suffering many seaman killed and the British clearly having to perform a hideous act upon a friendly nation. It did however show both the Germans and the rest of the World that the British were not about to surrender and later attacks on the Jean Bart at Casablanca were undertaken not only by the British but also the Free French.

Agree - getting the hang of her - as with all dds, does best when supported and supporting! Had one very frustrating battle where a good CV player kept me spotted all battle - only dd in battle and capped as much as I could but unsupported so not very effective. 4 cvs in game - I think theirs were both AS so trounced ours. Lack of any AA didn't help.

It is the well played bit that seems to be missing!! Had one that seemed to get about 3 lines in and then just reversed till hit map edge, where he died!

And what about double XP for picking up enemy survivors! Agree with first reply really though!

Got to rank 9, don't want more camo and simply don't have enough hair left to make getting to 1 viable - returned to random where at least it only affects the win rate! Increasingly frustrated there by Dunkerques that despite being one of the fastest BBs, and with lousy gun performance at range, sit either still or reverse all game till they burn away! Why do they all do that!!?

Charge the smoke - you are going to be angled so will take little shell damage and you have German Hydro so will spot the pesky smoker and obliterate him if he is stupid enough not to have legged it! It which case you will then have the smoke! Only the Belfast can really hurt you and everyone agrees that the Belfast is OP.

To be fair, no country is without some shame - the British invented concentration camps (Boer war), successfully perpetrated genocide (Tasmania), participated in many massacres (Amritsar springs to mind first) and subjugated a quarter of the world's landmass and indeed population. However they have usually been on the winning side so I see little call for the Union Flag to be struck out. I think if we all look at our own countries, there will be very few where there is not at least one incident which causes some degree of reflection. Having said that, the Swastika is clearly not going to appear and the Far Eastern market is too important to risk insulting. It is also a Russian game so clearly their history is going to be seen through slightly rose tinted glasses. I post as a British citizen though of New Zealand and Irish ancestry!

Seems a bit silly for RN cruisers to lose the smoke advantage - they only get 2 puffs, they lose HE (Belfast excluded) and have painfully thin armour - Neptune will be a joke and only Fiji will be any use really. Maybe they need to give them HE to make up for it!!

Trainspite is completely correct - the real Minotaur was laid down on 20/11/1941 at Harland and Wolff and given to the Canadian Navy on 25/5/1945. It had 9x6" guns 10x4" dp guns and some more AA guns. It had 6 torpedo tubes. 8000 tons and similar in armour to the Uganda. It could be tier 7 but is not as powerful as the Fiji as these modified Colony class had the X turret suppressed. Better AA though. The Minotaur seen in game is not related and is a paper ship that was never really built but was a design study that was postulated for after the war.

You are right - he is everywhere! Just met him in his Warspite - he died very early but his team, despite some rather questionable tactics actually managed to win - lots of destroyers - as usual I played the Leander and was not too surprised to get single salvo deleted by an unseen Fuso! Very close at the end but the other team's destroyers did very well. I believe we swapped totally undeserved compliments so we both got something from the game. Advanced to rank 9 tonight and am probably calling this a wrap as ranked is most frustrating and I don't really want more camos!! Leander is nothing like as forgiving as the Fiji as a Fuso can kill you from any angle and range it would seem! Thought about joining the BB crowd but don't play BBs enough to be anything but a liability!

I think your stats are fine - just keep doing what you are doing and I am sure you will get even better. Situational awareness is the big one - avoid showing broadside as much as possible and support your team. Going with your team is tricky to criticise - being by yourself or border hugging less praiseworthy! I agree it is useful to see the game from all ship types - though CV play leaves me cold. Confess to not liking BB play much - too slow!

I had this - seems to be a Mac problem - I changed the settings to low and the problem has gone.

Moderately amusing that I have read two threads in the last few days - this one , which says most forum members complain all the time, and another saying all here are WG fanboys! I like the game - there are a few frustrations, some of which are down to my lack of skill. None the less, only game I play and I echo your sentiment. Don't need more credits though - have 350 million!

It was built for me by Anglian Triumph in 1999 - it is a late Mk 3 GT6 chassis with a Californian Spitfire body and a new GT6 bonnet (1999!) on it. It was shown on the TSSC stand at the 1999 Classic Car show at the NEC. Doesn't get out that much - about 11,000 miles since - the picture is last year at the Whitley Bay Car Show - blisteringly hot day with not a cloud in the sky! Like it always is up here ! ? I live in Earsdon, just near Whitley Bay. Come and have a look if you like if you are nearby.

Happy to admit potato status - at rank 11 and will keep going though not much incentive as don't need more camouflage. Stopped at 10 last time as had no interest in modules either. Getting better at Leander though and there is more teamwork which I like: you can usually tell what it is going to be like by looking at the team before you start though!

Struggling up! Actually lost ranked in the Warspite! Had 100% record before! Just won last battle mainly by opposition having an afk Warspite and a moron of a pink fubuki who apparently was trying to kill his own team. Last time seemed much more civilised!
