Problem is that domination has the same effect, thinning of the heard so CVs can pick of the strays with ease, ending up in a deathmatch 2 CV Vs. 2 CVs where they pretty much have to ram each other or get Close quarters Expert with their secondarys because they are the only ships in the game immune to planes. -

That may be true to your experience. The experience for specially DDs is that if you dont want to loose or get report-wrecked by half your team, sooner or later you will need to cap (because no one else will) and caps are pretty much a Kill-Box. The second you enter the cap that big siren goes of "HEY GUYS, SOMEONE IS ACTUALLY TRYING TO CAP A!!!!" and 3 seconds later the first squadron arrives, perma attacks that cripple or kill you, then fighters overhead, cross drops in smoke, radars, hydros, permaspotted if you try and leave, no AA do defend etc etc etc. Thats my reason for hoping for standardbattle, even if I know the game would suck more that way. I as a DD would actually have a option NOT to suicide every match. The fun thing about this is all the rest of the cry-babies on the team, you know the guys sitting in tha back, actually thinks DDs suicide into caps because its so much fun?! No, we have to or loose that game and get reported by half the team because you play like a P***y. Did they do anything at all to help or support said suicider? NOPE! Did even the green CV drop fighters to protect him? NOPE! -

I have pretty much given upp on all torp DDs in the current meta. Shimas and such has nothing to protect them from CVs. If we talking just DD vs DD , ships like Gearing and Z-52 has other good traits like good AA and extreme hydro as the same time they also have pretty strong torps and good guns, so not that much downside. Shima on other hand is a one trick pony, you can torp .... and maybe cap if there isnt a CV (yeah right), you cant really gun duel, you dont have AA or hydro. My Shima collects dust in port and will probably do the remains of this game since its the most crapped upon line in the game. But back in the day tho .... -

I made a thread about this a while back. Isnt it fun that WG gives us this whole new minigame for free. The added bonus that WG wants us to drop everything were doing (dodging torps, dodging BB AP salvos, stop duelling the enemy cruiser/DD) to instead play a little fun minigame called "Manage you bloody AA sectors"?!?! Where is the planes?! Switch LEFT, RIGHT, CENTER, BACK TO LEFT.... did I shoot down nothing?! No, but that doesnt matter because while you where doing that the 3 ships you were fighting just sunk you mate! Aah, GG! -

I will soon have 600 of the new credit and im actually struggeling a big. My choices right now is between the Grozovoi one for more stellar gun build, or the Republique one (also more stellar gunbuild ....). Im a DD main so im leaning towards the Groz, that said, maybe I will start playing my Rep more in the future (specially considering the anti DD meta) and then the module for that would make it insane. Anyone got a pro-tip? -

You mean really strong AA ships like the Kutuzov? Next video on my channel this coming friday will feature me in my AA specced Kutuzov getting permaattacked by 2 T8 CVs. This happens to me when I play my Wooster and Mino as well. Yuro just put up a video on his channel on how you perform a "Slingshot drop" on Minotaurs, Des Moines and Woosters, getting 2 citadels per strike on them without loosing any planes at all. Just one of several exploits this rework has brought. So I guess you would mostly see CV players in the first MM. Only DD I still play on occation is Grozovoi fully AA specced and I still get dropped every time I try and go for a Cap. Sure you could say that about DDs and you could say that with firespamming cruisers and DDs opting out of radarcruiser MM and cruises opting out of BB MMs etc etc, but thats not really the same thing. The big differense here is that all other examples are things you can actually controll, get better at and avoid. CVs you cant. Not even running to the far back corner of the map will save you, it will probably just make you an easier target for the carriers because you are alone. A BB can learn not to sail in straight lines and adjust speed and in that way learn to negate the "DD pest", cruisers can learn not to show broadsides to BBs etc etc. But no ship in the game can learn how not to get spotted, not to get focused by a CV! Bunch together lika a carpark for shared AA bubble? Nope, WG nerfed that effect (because they want to sell new CV premiums). Sail in AA cruisers? Nope, best AA cruisers in the game arent no-fly-zones anymore and can easely get hammered by CVs. Also the added bonus that WG wants us to drop everything were doing (dodging torps, dodging BB AP salvos, stop duelling the enemy cruiser/DD) to instead play a little fun minigame called "Manage you bloody AA sectors"?!?! Meanwhile CV sits in safety in back corner, not taking any damage, not putting himself in harms way. AAh, how nice that must be! Pretty much the complete oposite from DD gameplay then? Your last point is something I adress in my video. A easy fix to all this, take away all domination games with caps and just keep standard (no more free damage buffés for CVs) and DDs can survive and play lika they want. AND give all CVs a maxrange on all their planes to, say 13 km! This would mean that CV (as same as all other classes) actually need to go close, put themselves in harms way to actually be able to be effective, easy fix - Will never happen. Wouldnt it be nice to be able to grab a cap as a DD from 18 km sitting in spawn? Hey, how about sitting in spawn and just grabbing all the caps without ever getting detected or shot at?! Must be pretty great! -

I have a totally different experience in Hinden. I have a whole playlist on my Yuotube channel called "Hindenburg the T10 Tank". And the module just ads to that tankyness for me. I can duell with any other firespamming cruiser and win (because all fires set on me burns for like 7-8 seconds) I dont even put out doublefires and the German armour is great for bouncing tha most exept for Republique AP that for some reason always finds my citadel however I angle my ship. -

When were they not? Im not saying im a great player, but have been a DD main since CBT and consider myself above average. I hardly ever play DDs anymore. I have pretty much every DD in the game but the only ones I still play on rare occations are Grozovoi (for somewhat decent AA) and Harugumo (because then I can say I have 7 km detection and I dont have to push any caps.... ever). You have CC´s like Notser complaining over this CV meta, a Super Unicum DD main like Flambass almost quit mid game because of the CV meta and how its pretty much ruined the game for alla DD mains. So I do beleaive its a problem and I dont think the solution is as easy as "Git good". We had CV battles since the start of the game, Its nothing new, but problem with this new rework is that its not a thing you as a DD can "work around" or get better at coping with. WG still tells us by the 3-4 cap domination games that you (DDs) have to push in at some point to secure caps or you loose. And at any point its just to easy for the CV to spam attacks on you, find you whereever you try and go and put fighters over head or just spot you for the rest of the team to kill you, and this is not counting in other DDs, cruisers, hydros and radars. And good luck getting some random T10 player pushing in to give you AA support at the caps! They all sit at the 10 line with the Yama players. At this point I would actually not mind WG to implement submarines, specially since the DD lines are pretty dead (as one can see in every match these days). It wouldnt be a bigger mistake then this CV rework and it would bring a new ship line for all the DD mains to grind up. And also a big ..I.. to all CVs. If WG would put in an alternate MM in tha game so all players could choose to go inte a MM with carriers or go into one without carriers in it, how many non-CV players do you guys think would go into the first one? I think none, it would only be full of CV players. And I think that would say something. But this is never gonna happen, then we would see a Br(CV)exit. -

Hindenburg is awesome, you dont need to use repair for any fires pretty much. And you can out-spam any other HE spamming cruiser in a duell. Henris I hear is great but dont have that ship yet. -

But if you look at his barrels you dont see the 2 cruisers targeting you. I use this skill so when I see the number go up I know to pop smoke or take awasive action. Also in a duel with a DD when it goes to zero you know hes torping you. Problem with the caps is, sooner or later you need to go in to cap for your team and not even counying all hydros and radars the CVs can have their planes there in 10 sec to drop you, to cross drop you if you smoke and just put their fighters over you. I really wish all WG staff had to play only DDs for 2 month. Then see what changes they make, because im pretty certain they never play DDs. -

Well you pretty much said it yourself. You want to know how many are shooting you and if you shoot at a BB engaged by another you want to know how long you can free farm him before you pop smoke. DDs die in caps because thats where WG force DDs to push sooner or later while all BBs sit in spawn. I wouldnt mind the new CV meta if WG took away all the caps and just had standard. But then CV and BB players would rage over that, no one to shoot/strike, all just camp in spawn all match in a AA bubble. So be thankfull you have those DD players ready to get blapped by DDs cruisers, hydro, radar, CVs etc etc every match. -

Problem is that this "counter" will work in about 2% of the times you try it, since they can spot you and keep you spotted and they can sit either at mapborder in the back or just relocate whenever. In 98% of the times either he or his team will focus you and kill you before you get even close to him.

Because 1 good game in a DD makes it allright? So a CV cant spot a good DD player? Im above average and I get spotted by CV in all CV matches, most of them lately leeds to my death, either by his drops or by cruisersalvos while being spotted by him. So easy fix, dont be any where a DD should be? I just hide in the back corner all game just trolling the crap out of that dumb CV player.... So as I said above. Just hide in the back corner and you are fine. WG dont force me with a gun. But if I dont push and take caps we will loosa a 100% of the games. Waiting for the 15 min mark? I dont really like my teams chanses. Most outcomes decides first 8-10 minutes. And if I dont push its Only up to CV to keep all 3 caps clear of enemy DDs. Radars at caps are usually just an issue first 5 min then they move of. CV can keep you permaspotted all match if he wants. -

They cant? I think they can fly all over the map. But usually they dont have to, just fly around the caps or in front of the fleet and the DDs cant really do much. "Pop smoke"? No problem, I come back in a minute, or I just drop you in the smoke or torp smoke, or drop my fighters overhead that your silly AA will never kill of. If you sail with AA off he will fly over and spot you and drop fighters thats perma spots you, and he can drop you over and over again.... You mean mistakes like choosing to play DD or mistakes like chosing to try and go for the objective that is forced upon DD players from WG, just like CVs. -

Im a DD Main and I have pretty much stopped playing my favourite class, why even bother. It was a struggle before with all the ships radars, hydros, spotterplanes, other DDs etc etc. and now also be permaspotted and dropped by CVs and usually even 2 CVs?!?! I dont care about the [edited] argument that "You only have to disengage you AA and then you are invisible" No you are not!! They will spot you first time they fly over you and then they just drop their fighters overhead that you cant shoot down and they just Blap and Blap and BLAP you over and over until your dead. They dont even have to have skill since they just can keep on doing it until it sticks. And when that squadron is empty they just launch a new with other armament and go after you again. "DDs are hard to find"? Try circeling the caps! Or scout in fron of the fleet! Im a pretty good player that usually can carry my team pretty hard in a DD, but when I cant go anywhere alone without trying to convince 3-4 random players to follow me as bodyguards im pretty limited. Had a game in my T-61 yesterday where i was about to win a loosing game for my team by sailing around getting all the caps. Managed to dodge a couple of strikes with my AA and smoke but he (the low tier 5 CV) just kept on coming and striking me so finally I died and there was nothing else I could have done in that match to change the outcome. These days I usually only play Minotaur and Wooster because the AA protection. Sometimes I play Grozovoi, but then I usually dont even go for caps, I just try and farm damage like everyone else in T10. I wouldnt have a problem with CV rework if WG just took away domination gamemode all together and just have standard battle, then even the DDs could just hide in tha back with everyone else, but how fun would that be? Do you still use BFT & AFT on your ships (regarding free Commander re-spec in upcoming WoWs v0.8.2)?

I think I only use AFT on a few of my DDs actually like Harugumo and Grozovoi for the range on the guns and the extra AA power is just gravy. On my light and heavy cruisers I use mostly CE and maybe IFHE. BFT I dont think I use on any ship. Rather pick Superintendent, Demo exp for cruisers and SE and DE for DDs (also Superintendent). For my GK I go with the full tankbuild, no secondary specs. -

Im playing mostly DDs and cruisers and the cruisers is usually the ones in the thick of it like Minotaur or Wooster. And I really hate the fact that I in the most fierce battle where im ducking Yamato and Montana shells and incoming torps while free looking with my RMB because my aim is locked on the closest DD or BB I have to take a break from all that and find the button for AA sector management and use button and mouse to switch to the side where the Carrier suddenly attacks me from, and a few seconds later after the first drop I need to torpedobeats thru a Shima wall, switch targets for my guns and then drop everything to click the AA sector thingy again and choose other side where the bomberplaner are at this second. My suggestion is to just make 2 keybinds in the keybinds section in options. One key for left side on for right side. Maybe this is just a thing for DD mains (a dying breed) or Mino, Wooster and Des Moines players. But I would love to be able to sail inside a cap, have my guns locked at one target, be able to free look around me and without breaking out of all that also just be able to fast click a button for the ship to switch AA sector without me having to stop shooting at the DD/cruiser im in a duel with. Of course clicking same button again will make the sector neutral and clicking the other button will fastswitch to other sector. What do you guys think?

Suggestion: Key binds for AA sectors?

I wouldnt like the cycle thru different sectors with one key option because that still requires me to glance at the thing and make sure I stop cycling at right sector. The pro of being able to for instance bind Q and E button (which are pretty useless, locking the steering) to Q for port and E for starboard would mean I can perform this action 10 times over without ever taking my eyes of the target im shooting with my main armament. -
