OP A-F if you learn to play the line. Don't have time to write a novel but if you click the link to my channel below I have several playlists featuring Asashio, Yugumo, Kamikaze R and Shima (all play in same way and with mostly same captain build - RPF for the Win!), with guides on how to play and how to build for success. On Kagero and Yugumo, always use TRB never smoke. Instead learn to play around CVs and use your team AA support until he gets bored of you. -

Im not saying it isn't possible or it didn't happen but looking at this video from Flamu in the Rochester which is a much more maneuverable ship then a T10 BB he pretty much executed a almost perfect attempt at a dodge and still all the torps homed around in a bow and hit him midships. Thats why I have a hard time seeing Kremlins, Yamatos and GKs doing this on a regular basis. But I will soon start play subs at T10 so I will see. -

In my limited experience BBs cant dodge homing torps without using DCP and even then they usually get hit but no citadels, I cant imagine T10 BBs being able to maneuver better the n the T6 ones. So you say Kremlin, Yamatos and GK just torp beats around homing dubbel-pinged torps? Yeah, I got the T8 and 10 pretty fast but wanted to stay at T6 to learn the basic mechanics of the playstyle before moving to T10 (crazy idea I know ... ) Pinged a DD in smoke yesterday as well.... seems legit... How hard is it to just spam ping and torp a smoke? Specially since his movement gets updated all the time in the smoke after the first ping hits (another great feature WG). Finally you will get a ping and a hit which makes smokes even more useless for DDs in the future. Also so easy to just shotgun a DD that is trying to push you. Depth charges in my experience SUCK monkeybaaalllls Regarding the second video I think it was a bug. The green double ping section shouldn't move to a new section just after getting hit once. I was trying to see if I could just wait efter getting my first doubles. I used the skill that makes the double ping last longer. Otherwise its easy to ruin your own double ping if you continue to spam pings on a already double pinged target so you end up with a single ping when the torps arrive. I Believe that double ping ignores torpedo protection and insures a citadel and most likely a flood, based on my experience at least. Single pings seems to half the damage and half the floods almost. I have a hard time understanding what captain builds to use and what are the best. -
Zero damage sub games

Only thing you really can compare subs to are IJN torp DDs but not damage wise. All other ships can pretty much reach around the map and do damage. With subs you are restricted to one certain area where you gone to. Some maps with many islands you get really restricted to do any damage. that said you can spot and spam pings and torps at everything you see. I Ping EVERYTHING. I ping DDs in smoke, i ping cruisers behind and BBs and send torps on cooldown. If you miss the DD because he uses DCP you re-ping the cruiser or BB behind and then the homing torp sent to DD suddenly go for the next ship. Most games I sit fully surfaced and just spam it. At mid and end game you should stick to a teammate for protection and help him with spamming pings, torps etc. -

Only played T6 so far but omg these things are broken. You just sit fully surfaced and spam ping BBs and cruisers and smack them with citadel and torps. Hope T8 are harder. -

I don't know why DDs (or other ships for that matter) couldn't just always get RPF on a sub if he is the closest. Why should they have a god mode depth when even the other depths are pretty much god mode? We have to consider that the surface ship that will try and hunt the sub will most likely be perma hard spotted his entire travel to the subs position so it will pretty much be a suicide mission for the first 15 min of the game anyway. So why the extra protection for the Subs? Another thing I cant recall reading regarding this, will the sub take damage from depth charges and BBs airdrops when he sits at lowest depth? Or is he safe from that as well? Another fun fact, looking at Flamus Rochester video it seems like torps home and curve right up until it hits the hull. So good luck using DCP at the exact right second to dodge those. Video starts at 11:40. -

Apparently it shows at certain depths which is even more confusing for the DD that is trying to hunt the Sub. When the RPF turns around does that mean the Sub just shifted position or did it just go deeper and it now shows the closest DD?! You will never know. I had RPF on my Somers, in the example above but it just turned around and around so I never knew where he was even tho i was above him the whole time. So you cant just head on RPF direction and drop charges (that is what I tried to do). -

"Fought" a tier 8 German sub in my T10 Somers yesterday. My team got steamrolled (like most matches these days) but I was left alone on the flank where we actually got the cap with a enemy sub. So I was pretty much circling the cap for 10 min while launching torps against enemy push in B cap because I just didn't want to give the sub a free cap and then give him free space to just hunt me if I left A cap. He pretty much sat on the bottom for ages just waiting me out. I dropped depth charges on cooldown att all times and once I got a random hit but no kill. A few times he popped up beside an island but before I got my guns on him he just disappeared and I went there and dropped and no hits. In the last 2 min of the game he eventually had to surface and then he rammed me, I survived and he died. But I was useless in fighting him! And I also took myself out of the game for the majority of the time to hunt him and still failed. So I guess I will just ignore subs next time and just focus on farming damage and let my teammates die instead. With all the risks DDs take when trying to push a sub, why cant RPF show his location at all times?! Its impossible to find him when he just sits at bottom. I get more and more the feeling that I should just sell of every DD I have except for the long range ones (Somers, Halland and Asashio) and just switch from DD Main to Sub Main instead. Seems like they by pass all the BS that regular surface ships has to deal with like angling, torps, CVs, hydro, radar, HE spam, CVs..... who wouldn't want to be free from that? And just sit at bottom spam pings and citadel torps into everything. -

If one considers selling of most of ones Destroyers and switching from DD Main to Submarine Main what line should you go for? German line seems like the most OP line before Russian Submarines (read Red October with caterpillar drive) comes to live server. Long range pings and torps? Anyone have a captain build for it? -

Same as Smolensk. Once broken/OP, now in current CV/HE spam/Sub meta its mediocre at best. If you gonna play crusiers these days it needs to be 19 km+ range cruisers otherwise you just damage pinatas. Mostly play Nevsky, Petro, Hinden these days. -

FDR +Thunderer+Sub is my bet. FDR for perma spotting of victim, always cross fire victim causing floods, engine breaks, fires etc etc etc and makings sure NO ONE can escape and go dark. Sub for perma pings and forcing out DCPs and of course citadel homing torps And Thunderer for full range HE spam and braking of AA and modules And of course constant communication between them every time victim uses DCP or gets a perma flood or fire I have a hard time seeing a team loosing ever with 1 division like this. Just go thru the enemy team BB by BB, then cruiser to cruiser until the team is dead. I choose Thunder over Conkek since my experience Thunder makes more fires and hit more shells then Conkek. -

Single fire torps? Doesn't that just mean that part from spamming pings on BBs and stressing them the hell out and pressuring them to use damage con to un-ping themselves Subs now can ping and fire 1 torp, force the BB to either use damage con or take a citadel hit and if he uses his damage con to un-ping you just ping him again and fire all the rest of the torps guarantee yourself citadel hits and perma floodings? Or am I missing something here? With this new mechanic every BB in the game should have a 30-40 sec cooldown on damage con. Sub captains will just sit on the bottom and ping everyone left, right and center and if they don't use dam.com to break ping they fire torps and if they do they just re-ping them and fire and also letting their div.mates on the surface know what BB just used up his damage con in vain. When will BBs ever be "safe" to use their damage cons any more? But hey...... BBs can push right into the center and drop depth charges on the subs ........ Thanks WG.....- 537 replies

I think I actually prefer this over clickin the W key and .... CV blasting you Jinan 40 DWT torps spam Jinan and sisters Smolensk-esk HE spam Smolensk HE spam Soon Kitakami 40 regular torps spam Soon all Subs homing torps spam Asashio.... Benham ... 20+ km HE spamming Conquerors 20+ km HE spamming Thunderers All the rest...... Just feel like WG goes out of their way to make this game more and more passive or just more and more steam rolls with one team dead in 4 min. I would love some mouldy Edam cheese, it goes well with my red Malbec wine! WG: What new map would you as a community like to see in the future? Playerbase: Can we have a map with 80 very tall and broad island on it? Maybe where the water is only 10 meters deep? And maybe the air filled with those WW2 AA balloons? -

I would say: 1. Kutuzov - Amazin range and smoke, half decent AA or hydro (not really available any more) 2. Atago - The OG Prem, still great al rounder, one of the few with heal. 3. Mainz - HE spammer Deluxe, shits on lower tiers, decent in higher.
