    [12.6.0] Aslain's WoWS ModPack Installer

Ah, thank you. Navigator is actually important for me as I run a lot of tests so knowing things are perfectly broadside on or near bounce territory is quite valuable to me. [EDIT] Well that didn't work. Firstly I had no alt_hud folder in the profile folder, there was one in the res_mod folder, tried to delete that, but it didn't change anything I could see.

Ok, I have some issues. Some of them are repeat offenders. I have marked up the mods I know for sure are not working, or not working as intended. In addition to this I have a situation where the hit markers are moved some distance to the right. The screenshot below will show it, as well as the problem I have with the other mods. So the problem I have with the player panel mod is that it isn't the mod I selected. As the log shows I chose the one by monstrofil, but I got the one by BADoBEST. [EDIT] Hmmm, it seems it is in fact monstrofil's mod, it just doesn't display the same information as before. I suggest updating the preview screenshot. And Navigator simply doesn't show up as can be seen, it has been like this for a good while. I deselected the custom minimap circles as they conflicted with the new official minimap circles, creating a giant mess (all the circles were on at the same time but with the custom ones at wrong ranges).

The new repair flat is bullcrap!

He damaged higher tier ships more. The Kagero and Fubuki pretty much cancel each other out. But the Des Moines certainly beats the Mogami. And the battleship damage is certainly in favour of the second battle. So that leaves the 21 planes compared to the over 4 million potential damage and double the spotting damage (60k+ is good). What this means is that tanking and spotting provides very little benefit, if 21 planes are worth more than that.

    Russian Destroyer Nerf

Interesting way to start off a poll... Especially given the results so far.

    5.12 changes

The damaged ships are the ships you hit but didn't sink. The two lines, 'sunk' and 'damaged', are separate, so you have to combine them for the total tally. Anyway, this is not new, it's been like this since they gave us the detailed post battle screens.

    Shards!

lol I doubt even the most potato team would see 3+ BBs head for A though. Haven't seen the map yet, but it does look promising. The 'closer but more dangerous' caps are a slight departure of the usual 'one cap is a noob-trap' setup, and should allow for daring play, but also punishment of stupid play. But I will have to play it some times until I can comment for real.
  7. Indeed. The important thing is to look at the entire game, not just our own results. And from that it looks like one or two per game manages about normal results, everyone else has lost 20% or so.
  8. What I find interesting here is the end results for the winning team. Those XP values appear to be really low for a max T9 game. One DD does get a good result, everyone else gets pretty bad to downright lousy results. Normally, if a single DD ran around doing everything, it would have gotten more than 2.2k XP. And it isn't as if the battle was short cap-win battle either, it lasted 17 minutes, so plenty time for the various actions to be taken. Now this result wasn't impossible before, so it certainly isn't conclusive evidence, but I do suggest keeping an eye out on the XP generation in general.

Cruisers are becoming more and more pointless

Exocet6951, on 28 September 2016 - 12:31 PM, said: I read that DD's had a 1/4th caliber rule when it comes down to HE though, but I may be wrong... Still though, have you seen some of the current BBs? 50mm armored deck on most German BBs, the Amagi has a 35mm armored deck all over (with a tiny superstructure), USN BBs all get 26mm, Montana is getting buffed to 38mm... No, the DDs have the same 1/6 rule. Akizuki appears to follow a 1/5 rule though, but she isn't ingame yet. And German BBs have the infamous 1/4 rule (not all of them, but enough that you can call it the German BB Rule). The German BBs does have a 50mm central deck. But their bows and sterns have 32mm decks (just make sure to not hit the sides as those are armoured to an extent), and their superstructures are absolutely massive. Hitting the 50mm deck is less likely than the superstructure. Amagi has a uniform 32mm deck. Everything but her conning tower, turrets and belt is 32mm or less. 203s are very effective against her. The USN BBs follow the same rules. Montana was unique is having an especially weak central deck at 29mm (the patch notes are wrong in saying it was 28mm), but Iowa has always had a 38mm central deck, and the other areas are 32mm. Beyond that the USN BBs follow the 19-25-32 progression.

    Citadel damage reduction upgrade.

You don't see how it would affect an AP focused line with weak HE? Hipper lives for those glorious few moments when an enemy cruiser presents a broadside. She does badly as it is, and the only thing keeping her from the bottom is the fact that she can punish cruisers now and then. Remove that possibility and she will plummet. It would be a terrible nerf to her. She can't fall back on her HE very well, having fewer guns and less capable ammunition. And she can't make up for it by shooting at battleships, as she should already be doing that, besides her AP, unless uncomfortably close, is rather weak against battleships, having a rather poor penetration. Hipper only has her tremendous AP damage, nothing else. Take that away and she will go from 'meh' to pointless. But as Aotearas says, this is symptom treatment.

    Citadel damage reduction upgrade.

Seinta, on 27 September 2016 - 02:59 PM, said: It would buff Cruiser survivability without nerfing anything. High tier German cruisers would beg to differ. Especially Admiral Hipper would be hurt badly by this, and she isn't exactly a high performer as it is.

Glorious quotes from the weekend gameplay

Well, idiots will be idiots, sometimes we just run into them. I mean a few weeks ago I was in my Roon on Hot Spot. Northern spawn to the west. Like so many times there I cover the island approach and the first ship I can hit is a Myoko. I do and hurt him. In chat right after (I didn't know at the time it was directed at me) he says something like "yeah sure, how fun". I don't react but I notice the enemies are coming up on the outside of the furthest island, so I turn around and aim to cut them off. Surprise surprise, friendly Myoko leads the charge with a Bismarck. Now, who would you shoot at? The Myoko in the open or the Bismarck angled near the island? Naturally I chose the Myoko. And he gets rekt by myself and a few others. With around 2k HP left he manages to angle away and run. Should I finish him off or shoot at the Bismarck who is by now a reasonably good target? Well, I decided that removing guns from play was better, as did at least two others. I don't kill him but he does die. In chat the guy begins to type up stuff that I was seriously thinking were jokes. It was that silly. How unfair it was that high tier ships were shooting at him and not the Bismarck and how we had ruined his game etc etc. So I responded with what I thought was a fitting comment "well, when dinner presents itself" It didn't take long to discover that he was serious about people being a-holes for shooting at a lower tier ship, and should have let him get away, because killing him was ruining his enjoyment. I began to think he might be trolling us, but the way he kept it up, not with righteous fury or insults, but with a sort of insulted dejectedness... He really came off as being honest about his position, which really was worse than him trolling. He seriously thought it was unfair that I shot at him, that I should have left him alone and shot at worse targets because I was a higher tier ship. That he has managed to get to T7 (he was in a fail div mind you, with a Warspite) thinking that once the battle starts there are unfair or 'wrong' encounters, and had no compulsions about voicing that... I lost a little faith in humanity that day. His own bad play shouldn't impact him if he faces higher tier enemies, they should give him a free pass. I can't even find the words at to how wrong that is. That's not how games work. And if he can be out there and voicing it, then there are undoubtedly many more that think the same, but don't say anything. And that's honestly a little scary.

22 BB line up at T10

Probably less than you would think. Those strikes were very likely to be kamikaze strikes. Planes go out, but planes don't come home again. Though with that many Tirpitzes, an Izumo and an Amagi, there should have been enough low hanging fruit.
  14. Unintentional_submarine

Real issue of the meta - Carriers got shitty controls.

Sounds about right. The game will certainly 'forget' commands if you have even a somewhat high apm. I posit that it is the reason behind the 'derpy planes' issue that people will experience from time to time.
  15. Couldn't we just get the basic functionality until such a time that You are ready to roll out bigger features? Just an official and enabled version of the present one, I mean it isn't as if replays aren't already used for tickets or competitions, might as well make them part of the game without people having to fiddle with files.

    Warspite AA nerf?

She has also been buffed in AA a few times along with the changes to how AA DPS is handled, as well as been given the turret AA like a number of other ships. Overall she should have the same relative strength as she had before if not a little more. However other ships simply gained more than her.

    Epicenter :-(

Just wait until you get a T8-10 game on Tears of the Desert and you will come to hate it as well. I agree that it is great fun in mid tiers on Trident. That map and the capabilities of the ships just matches the mode very well. Tears of the Desert match it so utterly terribly that I get downright dejected when I face it.

Discussion thread for "some interesting info around the world"

I'm pretty sure that Emerald is provided with HE as a sort of baseline to compare against. To me it looks like they know the present plan is at best not-that-good, and eventually want the line to be 'normal' so to speak. But for now they are trying to shoehorn it into the limitations and advantages they have given it. Quite. Basically it would be little more than a reduction in diversity, a diversity which is already stressed enough.
  19. Unintentional_submarine

Discussion thread for "some interesting info around the world"

Actually the usual penetration of 1/3 is made up of two portions of 1/6. One hits the local module (bow, middle, stern, superstructure) and one hits the general hull. The 50% depletion happens when the section in question is depleted, from then on the penetrations there deal 1/6, until such a time that the general hull is also depleted. There is something about depleting the middle section dealing more damage to the rest of the ship or something like that but I can't remember it now. So, if we take this comment at face value, then the RN AP deals 100% damage against a healthy section, because the section takes 50% and the hull takes 50%. That would be massive, and pointless in regards to citadels, so I doubt it. Chances are the comment is simply a mistake after dealing with the two 1/6 shortly before, and it is in fact meant to be 1/3.

    Kamikaze R

Well, it can't get better than that. Minekaze can achieve that. And Minekaze did achieve that before Kamikaze (I believe there were some minor camo changes to her around that time?) because a lot of people simply kept her and had a dedicated well skilled captain. Obviously today they don't, a couple of guys might still, but not enough to make it matter. I certainly remember a time when Minekaze was a common sealclubber herself. The main difference now is that the Kamikaze has a better income potential and you can move the captain around. Just like today Kongo is a grind ship (and so either not a skilled player or at least one with a rather new captain), while the old comfort play role Kongo had before is taken over by the various ARP Kongos, disregarding the MM changes which have certainly reduced the 'comfort' levels.

    Remove Detonation

I'm thinking realistic times for engines and rudders being knocked out (that is for the entirety of the battle).
  22. Unintentional_submarine

    Kamikaze R

What? Let me be clear here. Kamikaze and Fujin doesn't not have: Longer gun range, all three have 7.6km range. All three have the same detection of 6.2km (which is 6km with camo). The turret placement isn't favourable, in fact Minekaze can bring more guns to bear at a sharper angle, and like both the premiums she can fully rotate all the forward three guns. Yes that makes the guns on the permium ships better in the first 10 seconds of the game, until such a time they are pointed towards where you want them. From then on they have better arcs. What makes you think they have these advantages? Did you per chance happen to compare captained premium ships with non-captained regular ships?
  23. Unintentional_submarine

    Kamikaze R

Well that's the thing. On the outside it looks like Minekaze and Kamikaze are the same. But it is deceptive. As noted Kamikaze has a more flexible torplauncher layout, letting her maneuver more while launching torps. Similarly her guns also turn faster (but have worse firing arcs compared to Minekaze). This makes her a more flexible ship and better suited for actually fighting enemy destroyers. Even a small benefit can have the effect of changing an attitude to a problem. Minekaze on the other hand is faster with a more responsive rudder and better AA (while it is seemingly paltry, Minekaze can drive off fighters above her if she isn't uptiered badly, Kamikaze can never do this). This makes her a better stalker from the shadows, and better at dropping off again once detected. If played to their strengths they are surprisingly different ships. That doesn't make one or the other better to me. I much prefer Kamikaze because you can't always control when you have to engage, but I'm sure there are many that think Kamikaze simply tries to make up for her weaknesses instead of focusing on her strengths, and think that is less effective.

Will the RN cruiser make high tier battles worse?

Haven't been able to confirm the 805mps. GM3D still has 768mps. And yes it is up to date. Now, just because they have it at that speed doesn't mean the 805mps won't appear, just that apparently not yet.
