Ranked Battles S5 [all rank battle topics merged]

1000+ battles... heck 500+ takes a special mindset. And think of how many more are not yet R1. -

Jeez, cut down on all that Fuso, it is bad for your health. -
My point was, that as a relative skeptic, I was later surprised at how naive even I had been. I simply had no idea of how absurd things would get.

Ahhh the good old days of the 'Global Village'. I must admit I found that notion to be more than a little weird, but I would never have thought it was that naive.

What happens when u complete the ARP mission but u already had the ship beforehand?
Unintentional_submarine replied to Bladenite's topic in General Discussion
Two missions and no credits (captain slots are neutral since we get those ARP captains we can't dismiss too). So if someone is getting it, then it just goes to show that something is quite wrong. If everyone was not getting the credits, it would seem most likely that it was a 'simply' switch, but some getting credits indicates a more complex problem. -

The one and only SC I have gotten so far... 250 useless flooding flags. Urgh. I think I have used a grand total of 10 of those flags since we got signals. That SC content is a major troll by WG I think. And by all accounts it appears to be a rather common. Ah well, I'm glad that I have kept to the regular rewards, those are at least always great. -

Exactly. How long will it take for the battles to register (if at all)? And if it is tomorrow, will I lose my daily win bonus for tomorrow and what about that crate? The latter one is obviously going to be lost, I can't see them doing the efforts of looking at who got enough XP to unlock a crate and who didn't, and compensation for everyone is out of the question. But the former... It wouldn't be that hard to reimburse another daily bonus, would it? -

Three battles in a row haven't been counted. This is infuriating. Especially when you really need those credits and XP. -
Discussion thread for "some interesting info around the world"
Unintentional_submarine replied to Deamon93's topic in General Discussion
They were nevertheless major gameplay affecting changes that didn't happen for months in all cases. Basically, as the line appeared, it was considered fine by Lesta. Admiral Hipper had atrocious survivability and damage until lowered in the water. And it still took a long time for any response to that issue. Had she been doing well, it is doubtful she would have overtaken Warspite for this, if at all. The turret issue was also something that had a significant impact on Admiral Hipper's capabilities, but it was only when it became especially glaring that it was changed. At which point it was practically impossible to angle her (I was unlucky enough to sail her during that period of time). It was a specific change made for a situation that negatively impacted the ship's capabilities. That's a buff, regardless of how you label it. Especially considering that now her guns actually clip the AA guns that caused this issue in the first place. Essentially Lesta broke the model in order to 'fix' her. If you have to do something like that, I would argue it is outside simple fixes, and well within buffs made in order to increase the strength of the ship. Königsberg was not the first ship with this feature. That was Svietlana, and as such she was the test. When the Soviet line came out I noticed that the front gun on her was capable of 360 (and not like those once-in-a-while wonky clipping rotations, this was a repeatable and usable thing). Was pretty nifty in running away as it allowed perfect left and right wiggling. Only after a while of that did they introduce it to the other ships. And unlike most of the others, it was a major buff for Königsberg, as it allowed her to actually move aggressively forwards without locking her into one direction. -

Forgetting the buffs Admiral Hipper has received? She was lowered considerably in the water, her AA was buffed (though that one was in the first instance incidental, and in the second part of a widespread expansion of AA mounts) and her turret arcs were 'fixed' after they royally messed them up after the second AA buff, so that they were better than at the beginning (or as I like to think of it, finally ok). Or the turret buff Königsberg got when when she got full rotation (why not Nürnberg is a question I still ask). What about the high tier HE buff? The German cruisers have been buffed a fair bit. -
Hey guys, maybe you can clear this up, but aren't we supposed to get every challenge completed in a battle awarded? I had a game where we managed to spawn Rasputin, but then died. I did 270k damage and sank 9 ships (including Ras), yet I only got one camo and 100k credits. Shouldn't that have been three camos and 200k credits? Or is it just the best reward achieved?

What?! No compensation for team damage?
Unintentional_submarine posted a topic in General Discussion
So I was team torped by an Atago in a Ranked battle. He hit me with four torps and did 25k damage. Not a single credit in compensation. Even more, I didn't get Dreadnought despite taking 100k damage because 25k was team damage. Seriously? -
I'm sorry but: "No, Trafalgar Day won't be celebrated by World of Warships, as it isn't a common European holiday. In fact holidays and special dates are too small individually in Europe." A bit hyperbolic, but Trafalgar Day is a definite no. In fact the special for the weekend is the Japanese Fleet. Just accept it already, EU doesn't get special dates unless they are on the level of Christmas, or we complain enough that they still feel the burn a year later. *Yes I know it was just a joke-hope, but I always get a little angry when special dates are mentioned*

Economy in 0.5.12 - a Detailed Look
Unintentional_submarine replied to Ph3lan's topic in General Discussion
Let's look at this way. Let's assume that the difference in income potential (not talking about profits yet) between an average and a great player has gone down (and it really does look like absolutely beastly games are rewarded less now), but fixed expenses have been reduced on average. Thus to the average Joe, things look pretty nice. He probably sees a fairly nice increase in actual profits. The great player sees less, but wait there is more. With less flat income (and about the same to more expenses) the variable expenses takes up a greater part of the cake. So premium consumables and camo suddenly eat more into the eventual profits, as they probably make up a larger portion of the net expenses. We have heard not so long ago that WG was surprised at the use of premium consumables, and they sort of partly blamed that for the previous economic woes. And now we see that they take these sets and exclude consumables. Better players are more likely to use premium consumables. So naturally they tend to see more of an impact, on top of their less rewarding beast games. Personally, I saw a dip in my income. And if you look at my survivability stats or my Dreadnought achievements, then it is safe to say that I'm slightly too impetuous. I'm not reckless or YOLO though. But even with that and loving German battleships for their tremendous close range power, I have lost profits compared to before. So it isn't just people who rarely took much damage, it is also people who often had a full repair bill before. -

Half the reason I'm going at it rather hard is that if things are really so weird as to provide an uptiered ship less rewards, then we have a platform to argue from (to get that changed). As mentioned, I doubt it is like that, but if it is like that it is just one more reason to get it spelled out directly. Of course, P3lan isn't in any position to clarify things for us, and we know the path to the people in the know is... at best patchy. Nevertheless, I felt I needed to give it some effort. -

But he does with the Frag value. Either it is 1/5 of the target, or it is 1/5 of the fragger. Now logic would dictate that it is 1/5 of the target, but since the explanation is apparently for own ship, it makes it rather unclear. This is why we need clarifications badly as these explanations are simply confusing as hell. And if they are correct, WG needs to up their game a lot. A T6 in a T8 game takes a hell of lot more risks capping or decapping, so obviously needs T8 values at the least for doing that. Now I'm being generous in believing it actually holds that way (that lower tiers get more or the same out of it) since that corresponds with my experience of it. I mean most of us have played games where we did little more than capping (say in a torpedo DD on Two Brothers when it is a ring-around-the-rosie game), and there my personal experience tells me that being lowest tier is more valuable than highest tier. Now that's just me, and I'm not a large sample, but it would also make sense if it were like that. Why would a lower tier ship get more XP from damaging, but less for other tasks? I don't think WG or Lesta are like that honestly. Their communications however... that would fit the bill nicely. -

But see, that makes no sense at all. That means a lower tiered ship is inherently disadvantages from capping, decapping or spotting. It gets value from two tiers below that of the top tiers. Heck you can even apply it to the sinking and damaging too as the sentences are the same, there aren't any differentiation between the destruction, or mentioned about damaging. That makes no sense at all, and doesn't conform at all to the experience of playing lowest tier and running around capping etc. Everyone knows that a lower tier ships gets better value facing higher tiers, rather than the other way around. A Mutsuki that sinks a Bismarck entirely, gets more out of that than sinking a Kongo (lowest tier she can face). But if the mentioned line was correct, she would get exactly the same. -

I don't see that first line in the post. Hence we can't link it to what the post actually says. The point is that the post is unclear as to what it means. As I'm sure you noticed, I sort of assumed it means decapping, but with that weird choice of words, it isn't something that is certain. Hence why I call for a clarification so there can't be any confusion about it in the future. This game is all too plagued by weird choices of words and structures that it would be a breath of fresh air to sort this out. Besides... what on Earth is 1/3 of a ship destroyed? The capping ship? An average of the team? A flat tier value based on the most ships or some other metric? What value is the 'destroyed ship' in the case of decapping or capping? That is still not made clear in any way or form. -

Yup, noticed that too. AFKs don't appear to get 0 rewards unless they are on hte winning team and never saw an enemy. -
It was nice to see the opposite 'setup' from iChase. That gives an excellent perspective on the value of both. And both are valid from this... It does look rather crazy good. I was not going to say that it looked that crazy on my own, as I haven't played it and only watched others play it a bit, but if these games are in the least indicative of how she plays, Belfast is a murder machine, and will only be sold once.

Thank you, but these things I have listed up here are rather unclear. Ok the solo cap makes sense enough. But what does the next line mean? "Knocked out capture points"? As in Bastion forts and such? Or is it a weird translation that means a shared capture? Or is it decap shots (green ribbons)? The next one is fairly understandable, or at least I assume it is. I'm supposing it means I stay in a cap and if I stay there while enemies tries to cap it, I will get that much rewards based on the time it would otherwise have taken them to cap the point. The more enemies trying to cap, the more gains for me, though still not as good as decapping (if the previous was decapping). This applies to neutral caps too right (it does for decapping, but better safe than sorry, so I figured I better ask)? Epicenter values are simply applied onto the previous ones, so understandable (especially the block makes sense as Epicenter sees a lot of blocking). Completely detected the team... is that if I detect 12 ships, or all 12 different ships? I mean the previous line mentions the 2 minute 'gap', but then the team is specified, so that points to 12 different ships. Unclear, but I suppose it is just 12 ships detected within the 2 minute rule (so I could technically get 24 ships detected over a battle). Also, since teams features different tiers of ships, does the game take an average of the 'spotted' ships and calculate the earnings from that? Or is it a flat value so to speak? Or does it award the spotter 0.83% (1/12 of a 1/10) of the destruction value of said ship, per ship (rather than a convoluted combined value it is just assigned per ship as they are spotted). Now comes the really odds ones. What on Earth does "2% of earnings" mean? Do I get 2% of the value that the other player get from damaging said ship (I presume the value will change based on the note)? But what about Potential Damage? What does the 15% of earnings mean there? Do I get 15% of the value the enemies would have gotten if they had damaged me with that much damage? And as an additional question: In the detailed results tab, we also have a "spotted planes" section. Does that have any sort of value? Like a percentage of a plane shot down? Would make sense since that's how the other spotting mechanic works, and it is there in the tab, but I can also see how less than 1% of a plane shot down might be too little to actually bother implementing. -
Holy crap yes... It loses some speed down to around 30.5kn, then if the turn is kept that speed then increases back up to around 31.5kn. Whaaaaaaaa??? That is without a doubt the best power retention in the entire game. An aspect I have a keen interest in as power bleed is a serious factor in maneuverability (which can't be gleaned from any stats, port or datamined). A great rudder shift is worthless if the ship in question drops to 22kn in a turn. But if it stays near max speed... oh dearie.

Will comment when I have watched it. [EDIT] Wow... this features some pretty gory action. DD players might want to avert their eyes. Overall I was not surprised as much as I thought I would be. Though the DD killing potential appears to be much better than anticipated. I mean I expected her to be good, but this was impressive. It should be noted that this was the perfect storm and all the DDs failed to get the hell out once Chase began clubbing them. Even under normal circumstances it is foolish to get that close to a cruiser in a DD, and not engage him properly. The triple combo of consumables is very impressive. Superintendent ftw. However, it looks like heavy cruisers are going to be a counter. Which is good. Heavy cruisers need something that is theirs to kill. With Steering Gears mod 3 it seems battleships won't be a huge problem unless you get too close. Naturally random shells are random so even with that Belfast will never be truly safe, but her weak armour is sort of made up for with this. Was actually surprised at the power of the AP. Citadelling a Yorck at that range with less than 203s is less than that common.

Oh they did well in mine as well. But as soon as anyone as much as shot in their general area, it seemed like they took massive penetration damage. Oddly enough I never noticed any citadel though. But then again, it is hard to gauge exactly when it happens if it isn't from a battleship. It should be noted that in every battle I have seen one, it has been captained by very good players (I know not all STs are unicums, but these all were). So the combination of smokes at the time, the firepower, concealment, the lack of knowing their strengths and weaknesses (by the players in general) and the quality of the captains, they were unpleasantly powerful. With the smoke changes and a more regular player, I think Belfast will be interesting. Could still be too powerful, but her weaknesses were there and if exposed a bit more...

Discussion thread for "some interesting info around the world"
Unintentional_submarine replied to Deamon93's topic in General Discussion
The German DDs have their own issues, like the 150mm guns on perhaps as many as three of them (tow high tiers and one low tier), which will require a lot individual tweaking and fiddling to make them effective (since no BFT, AFT and lessened EM). Even so, the 150mm ships will be bracketed by smaller gun platforms, and so the captain skill requirements change in the high tiers (the low tier possibility is probably one you can just power through without much trouble anyway), unless they have massive range then AFT is probably one of the best skills for the non-150mm armed ships. A mess... and probably why we haven't seen anything regarding them yet. They can still fail at the path they have taken so far and don't want to run into another RN Cruiser issue, where they announce them, and then have to delay them multiple times because things are whacked up.
