Shimakaze Long Lances - Nerfed, yet we have to use them in stock.
Unintentional_submarine replied to Agantas's topic in General Discussion
Pretty much this. But it is absolutely a [edited]move to force the Shimakaze players to use the 20km torps, when we know they are crap as hell. The worst is that those torps have the highest torpedo rating which is likely keeping a lot of less knowledgeable players playing with them. Remove them (preferably), or at least allow for not being stuck with them for such a long time (or make THEM the 'upgrade'). -
German Premium Destroyer?
Unintentional_submarine replied to Umbrascythe's topic in General Discussion
I'm thinking either the Z-39 (Z-23 without the forward pointing gun in hte rear, more AA and a different bridge structure, similar to Z-46), simply because she is mildly different in several areas, can be changed a lot in soft stats if need be (preferably so in fact), or a low tier option in the S-113 being the first foray into the 150mm gun destroyer (think the T4 with 150s more or less). I don't think it is 'fair' to use the impressed ships from other nations. If I accepted that I should also be ok with Yukikaze becoming a Pan-Asian ship, and I'm not. -
Mutsu-Nagato class premium TierVII BB
Unintentional_submarine replied to Ebu34's topic in General Discussion
That's a pretty safe bet. If you are going to upgrade the internal armour, you might as well upgrade the other stuff too. Would be pretty silly to pull the ship apart and put it together exactly the same as before. So a stock Nagato at T6, which really is T7 these days... Yeah I can't see that being much fun. Sure, she is likely to not have stock rudder shift or speed, so there is that, but derpy guns, 35 second reload (lol) and poor penetration for the size. And imagine the AA...- 43 replies

Time to sell those worthless Signal Flags

How can you have so many Zulu Hotels? Skipper XP be gained! You have so many that you might as well mount them on all ships not fully XPed out yet. -
[Speculation] How gun performance will affect Royal Navy Battleships
Unintentional_submarine replied to WarshipsPodcastEU's topic in General Discussion
That alone gained a Like (yeah I want those sailing bricks too). -
I knew about this before I even started the campaigns... Intended to wait for it to be fixed... Did it anyway as I got too fast for my own good and didn't check which task it was. Felt more than a little silly when I got those glorious 500 credits.

[Speculation] How gun performance will affect Royal Navy Battleships
Unintentional_submarine replied to WarshipsPodcastEU's topic in General Discussion
Only one ship I know of has ever managed to reach it's physical limitation for gun elevation, and that was Murmansk back when AFT worked for her guns. The non-turreted guns couldn't elevate enough if you tried to fire at max range with the spotter plane up while having a captain with AFT. -

Good, as it is a bit of an asshat comment. Complaints would be more fitting, and it isn't as if they weren't justified to be mad about it, it was simply a pretty damn poor choice of ship. Personally I have no vested interest in Alabama, but even so I was a little concerned about a South Dakota, so I can easily imagine the unpleasant feelings quite a few Americans might have had. The comment about the ships with stealthfire being compensated for losing it... Oh dear. Imagine Zao losing stealthfire but gaining something like more HE power or fire chance. Ouch! And what about Gremyashchy? Does she honestly need compensation? I will just spec out of AFT and troll around with my newly buffed Grem (well, not so much as I honestly haven't played her much for half a year at least). Now, if there was just a stealthfire capable ship that wasn't really strong I could also present a case where the compensation isn't very good and said ship gets an overhand-right to the temple. Chappayev might risk a bit, but honestly I'm seldomly not spotted when firing in her, so I don't know. And Graf Spee from a Christmas campaign... will have to wait and see how long it lasts to react to that. -
I would like to point out as an outsider and interested viewer, that while Flamu does point out mistakes, because he notices them a lot more than most and has a really high bar for excellent play (when someone does do that though, they are praised to heaven, like that Benson double kill in the second finals match, he wouldn't stop talking about it), I never even once got the feeling that he doesn't think every single player involved isn't at least very good. Hence why he focuses on the mistakes, because they are unexpected from someone of such obvious capabilities. If you would watch some of the... urgh don't crucify me for the words chosen... 'lesser' matches, he was distinctly less poignant, and didn't point out mistakes that were noted upon later. I can only attribute that to him not having the same high expectations. Also, once you reach the highest play, mistakes are more important. They usually revolve around the failure to take advantage of one of those short moments of favourable circumstances. Thus, personally at least, I found it important to point them out, as they were among the most defining moments. The great plays... usually the result of taking advantage of those moments, or 'the expected outcome' so to speak. But as I noted gav_n got a gloriously long praise for doing something extraordinary. And then there were the almost meme-moments surrounding Flambass and his interesting ways. I'm not a CV player either, intended to be one long ago, but never followed through. So I know about what is good and what is bad, but the the little intricacies surrounding plane movements etc. Yeah I would probably need the actual voice coms to understand that, and see the brilliance of something that isn't obvious like leading planes over AA or dropping someone at a critical time. For instance, a super important DB for two fires on someone who has just used DCP but is safe from guns for the moment... how would the viewers or the casters know this was important, unless said target had been in focus at the time of the DCP being used? So obviously a lot of less obvious great plays are missed. [EDIT] Damn, didn't even write what I came here for in the first place. Excellent cup. Good numbers, good structure for viewers, and what I saw was mostly very good play, sometimes even downright very amusing on top of entertaining. Would absolutely tune in again.

Leipzig class cruiser?
Unintentional_submarine replied to Black_Baron_MC's topic in General Discussion
Obviously, but the turrets are the only thing that really stands out when it comes to a difference for a game. Mind you I'm very much of the opinion that Leipzig and Nürnberg were different enough to not be considered class mates, but the visual differences aren't that more significant than some of the other German ship classes. -

I think the stated chances are 4% for TYL and 1% for the others. Something along those lines. -
Leipzig class cruiser?
Unintentional_submarine replied to Black_Baron_MC's topic in General Discussion
It isn't an easily identified difference. The wiki page pretty much lumps them together, which is unfortunate as the Nürnberg carried the Drh Tr C/28 mount and the others the Drh Tr C/25 mount. I suggest looking at navweaps for at least a good help towards understanding the weapons and their sometimes odd qualities (sometimes they don't match up with real life performance though). It isn't the be-all end-all, but it should provide the required information in 90% of the cases. -
Leipzig class cruiser?
Unintentional_submarine replied to Black_Baron_MC's topic in General Discussion
Their turrets. Leipzig had the same turrets as the Königsberg class, while the Nürnberg had improved versions with more armour and a better layout improving the rate of fire. For a game that pretty much makes them different ships. -
Can we make the citadels a bit smaller?
Unintentional_submarine replied to Kazomir's topic in General Discussion
Tachibana shouldn't be able to do it. The reason the Caledon and Dane appear to get utterly weird HE citadels now and then is down to their weird citadel hitbox and their upper citadel protection. Now I'm saying it is weird because Yubari and Tenryu used to suffer the same problem, if to a lesser degree. Both got buffed to stop this. What I'm talking about is of course Caledon's 13mm top citadel protection, which is also her central weatherdeck. Danae has the same problem but with more protection, 19mm, so only 120mm or greater HE can citadel her. At ranges more than around 5km, it is reasonably common for HE shells to land on the deck, and if you are a bit lucky you will hit the relevant areas, which might not be huge, they are not hard to hit either. It is ok for some carriers to have this issue, as they are not common brought under fire, and when they are, it is fair enough that it hurts. But for surface combatants, this is not ok outside the random strange stuff, like the times I have citadelled battleships with DD HE. Those are rare as hell (haven't seen them in many months now), and are curiosities, but Caledon and Danae have easily reproduced issues regarding HE landing on their weatherdecks. -
I think a large part of the problem really is that AGS falls squarely into the 'why bother' region. Not because she is inherently a bad ship, but because the benefits of her don't really make up for her weaknesses, and aside from the torps, it doesn't look like there is much special gameplay surrounding her. That leaves her originality less pronounced than initially expected. I mean we see big guns, few guns, better armour and think that it is special. But as it turns out, she play just like any other cruiser, only she is more sluggish and slower. So what does that offer us? Add to this the point Flamu makes about T6 (which I think he overdoes, as I have played some T5-6 ships recently and the terror of the early days after the MM change appears to have been reduced a fair bit) and there is not much compelling about her. She looks original, but don't appear to play differently, she has a bad tier and she is massively outdone by a ship just one tier different for pretty much the same gameplay. So that sends us right back to my first sentence, why bother? Collector, love of the actual ship and all kinds of non-game reasons all apply of course. But those will always apply.

Commanders 2.0 (new skill tree confirmed)

This is taken from the RU news thread. -
Yorck carries her guns. So we know their punching power (the only difference would be a different HE shell, which would have Yorck's AP's arcs, but otherwise was the same). And the reload is not something that can just be nerfed (a reload of 12 seconds is a rpm of 5, which is a lot), for the most part guns reload about as fast as they could manage in sustained firing (or faster), so that will be the same. The range based on the size and position of the rangefinder would be around 12km. At that range Yorck has little issues hitting stuff. Her armour is just shy of the more vulnerable battleships of the lower tiers, with significant protection of non-critical areas. This would make her rather hard to hurt for cruisers of those tiers, and able to bounce battleship shells. Meanwhile her own firepower would set battleships on fire and punch big great holes in cruisers with ease. And her speed would be 25-26kn. Her HP pool would also be quite impressive, somewhere in the mid to late 30000s. Think about her this way. A St. Louis with better protection, more punching power, faster, longer range and more HP. She would not fit in T6 at all, T5 would be a mess due to the MM. T4 is the tier I see her at, but also that she is likely too powerful for her tiermates. Hence why I think she is a tough fit. T3? No.

One on One - Battleship vs Cruiser

Belfast has just about 900m stealthfire + spot range against a stealth Nagato. It would be hard to maintain, but certainly not impossible. -

German and Japanese ports?
Unintentional_submarine replied to FireflyActual's topic in General Discussion
Zipangu is probably the closest to that if you can get over the cherry blossoms. It's lighting is probably the most clear and it doesn't have any haze, like the Black Sea port for instance.
