Discussion thread for "some interesting info around the world"
Unintentional_submarine replied to Deamon93's topic in General Discussion
It is of course 7% flat reduction to incoming HE shells... It's only fair, battleships are so poor and underpowered. Urgh... I don't have the strength to be mad about this too, so that was the best I could do. I fear it might in fact be just like that, on top of the DE nerf and the KI which wasn't really changed (oooohhhh so now the player knows he has been detected with KI, BIG CHANGE HUH!). They say they are worried that battleships are overrepresented, and are doing too well, and they do this and the many previous things with but naught of any serious battleship nerfs (basics of survivability is now 3 points, but that absolutely also hurts other classes). -
Indeed it has. It's like they just have to do things worse if given the chance. It is a baffling state of behaviour. Usually humans try to do best, or at worst not bother, but to actively do worse... that's usually reserved for saboteurs and similar. And merry Christmas.

Where are the Christmas convoy missions?
Unintentional_submarine replied to bigbramble's topic in General Discussion
I was about to comment on this saying something along the lines of "well it is probably just worded differently, we get the same" then I decided to log in first when I saw one of the achieves has gone gold... WE BLOODY DO GET A REGULAR CONTAINER! Holy crap. They just can't help themselves at this point can they? This 'just one more kick' attitude is really unpleasant and I'm honestly starting to doubt they can repair this mess, even with good behaviour in the future. Seriously? Even nerfing the reward containers? -
RU, NA, Asia give free 16.800.000,00 Credits to everyone. EU player: 0Cr = zero

Heh... I would actually have liked to get a free Leander. I don't look forward to the crappy low tiers in that line. And my Tirpitz would absolutely have loved that extra camo... but nope. Not even a chance for it. -
German Destroyers Nerfed Before Launch
Unintentional_submarine replied to Darksith_77's topic in General Discussion
This exactly. The penalty works directly opposite to the Hydro. It makes them dual personality ships, but not in a complimentary way. Using islands isn't an option on so many maps, besides, any DD worth his salt would already be using islands to the extreme, so I don't see how that is somehow a special German tactic or flavour. It merely reduces the German DDs to be more predictable and once uncovered, far easier to kill. -
Yeah, we got all the birthday achievements in gold, and one was indeed 200k. It is important to look past the 20-30k online, and think about how many hours we ourselves aren't in the game while the numbers stay the same. There is a lot of substitution in a day.
-
Yeah, what's the gold version? Seems a little weird... maybe it is a multiplier? Do the same stuff X amount of times? [EDIT] Ahhhh... it's like the birthday event. Once enough people do the achievements, they turn gold and we get stuff.

Who released the Sound Department out of the basement again?
Unintentional_submarine replied to WhiskeyWolf's topic in General Discussion
Some ships have improved though. Yamato has lost her *squip* sound, Gremy has gotten some seriously beefy guns. But i did hear Zao's guns... did they give her the old 130mm sound or something like that? They sound like a guy hitting a plank with a hammer. *Blonk* -
German Destroyers Nerfed Before Launch
Unintentional_submarine replied to Darksith_77's topic in General Discussion
The main issue isn't the loss of stealthfiring, we all know that most DDs that use guns don't use that. So it shouldn't be an issue on it's own. But the way it is done means that it impacts scenarios that have nothing to do with the initial problem (stealthfiring). And that's just using the ship as a gunboat that doesn't fire at max range all the time. Given the choice between a 10km ranged, just about stealthfire incapable, DD and one with 14km and also stealthfire incapable, I would pick the former for most of my gunboating. That is a problem I see with this, as the German DDs fall into the latter group. But Soviet DDs manage it. Yeah sort of. The real users of this sitting at longest range, are well equipped for it. Once the speed reaches more than 40kn, it seems DDs get over a hump of accuracy from people. Below it, people don't have any issues landing telling blows at 10-13km, or some even further. But above it... experience shooting at them and watching others try, tell me that the hit ratio sharply drop off. The Germans don't have this. Also the Germans are now locked out of one of my favourite scouting methods. Shooting a gun when I sense an enemy DD is sneaking in. If I get detected, and I have visibility on the bigger ships, I know a destroyer is near and can prepare. Yes, it loses me the surprise, but if I have backup (and I never do it without backup) I can sometimes even goad an enemy into a fight he can't win. With the Germans... yeah, no. And sitting at longest range neither serves the torps, nor the hydro well. So what is the engagement supposed to be? It looks like it is supposed to be... uncomfortable. That's the one word I keep hearing, uncomfortable. And we aren't talking potatoes either. That has put me off from the line I must say. I will naturally give it a go, but only once the initial patchweek spam is over. Oh and the low tiers aren't affected? V-25's 12km+ bloom sort of disagrees with that. That's further than most (all?) T2s can even shoot. Being visible across the map in the low tiers absolutely affects the ship. You won't be able to use a tactical island to shield you from one target while the other is out of range. But it is of course not as obvious in those tiers as many players playing there are not that experienced yet, so they won't take advantage of it to the same degree. But pit experienced players against each other and it will absolutely be felt. -
Where are the Christmas convoy missions?
Unintentional_submarine replied to bigbramble's topic in General Discussion
This is the response we will get... Seriously. I have stopped hoping WGEU will ever learn, because it isn't a matter of learning, I thought it was until the ARP missions lately. They just flat out don't want to, and prefer it this way for whatever reason. Don't expect anything matching the other servers in the future, it makes no sense to do so any longer. If it happens, great, but to hope for it or *gasp* expect it? Just don't. And if it isn't WGEU's choice then I can only say that colonisation is in full effect. The colonised people never get equal treatment, it is good for them to see what they can aspire to, right? They will learn the proper way, and maybe then they can get the good stuff. But as mad and disappointed I am, yet again (I feel I'm repeating myself more than the gif above does), there is no need to get physically angry, to take it out on someone directly or even try to defy the will of the company. I mean seriously guys, what will it achieve? Nothing, and it won't stop them, or even make them think "hmm that guy was onto something". And even worse, letting this dung affect the real world Christmas? I think that's taking it too far, for yourself I mean. It's like 'taking the work home' after a bad day, letting it out on the family, it's just not good. I will stay mad here, and I will make fun of WGEU, because they really are behaving like parodies of an evil consumer corporation in an early 90s movie right now, and I will never trust them again, not that I really have for some time now. And that's going to be it. WGEU deserve my scorn, but not abuse. So don't do stuff that will only hurt you, because it is like trying to break a concrete bunker down with your face, nothing much happens, except to your face. Hence I changed the middle finger signature, as I can see why it might break some rules. A middle finger might be more to the point, but it isn't the only way. Personally I'm now using it to remind myself of this additional dung they have piled on the already quite big dung heap. -
German Destroyers Nerfed Before Launch
Unintentional_submarine replied to Darksith_77's topic in General Discussion
I'm talking about NA players FFS! They had no warning. I believe in common goals, and just ignoring their issues because it doesn't affect me right now, doesn't mean it isn't a shitty move. Who knows if the patch schedule won't be changed and we get the shaft next time? It is a common 'counter' argument that those that complain other servers get it better don't say anything about when we get it better... And yes, there will always be people that don't inform themselves, and it is their own fault. But we have people that did that, and trusted in the information they were given. The CCs are angry, obviously, but not just for the annoyance, but clearly they are also humiliated by this. This could so easily have been avoided, as we know from 'unreliable' leaks that the plans were in the workings for quite some time. They could easily have been told something was up (perhaps not exactly what), or as iEarlGrey suggestion pushing it back. Remember the RN cruisers? Pushed back many times it felt like (and if they weren't, then WG did a lousy job of portraying that), and at most people were laughing at it, being confused what the problem was. The same would have happened with the German DDs. Oh sure, some would have pulled that old quote out about German DDs in 2016, but people are more understanding in general, of things not panning out as planned... to a limit of course. A few days wouldn't have cost anything in that regard. But the German DDs had to come out with the Christmas stuff of course, so no short delay. -

You don't have to free XP to the top to be burned. Any bit of Free XPing would be enough. And the NA guys had no warning until they saw that the game was different. And yes they were informed. Aerroon has a comment about the hydro change in his video. -

That was some impressive stuff Maxxy. While I'm in a 'not a cent' mood, I can absolutely see that as a positive deal overall. -
German Destroyers Nerfed Before Launch
Unintentional_submarine replied to Darksith_77's topic in General Discussion
The intent... I think it is obvious enough. As I said, the intent with the CCs is to promote new content, to get people to buy it. They aren't slaves obviously, so they don't always sell the stuff they don't like. How does one change that? You let them look at stuff that is good and make it not-so-good afterwards. People have been burned because they trusted the information people like Flamu gave out. It is quite clear from the leaks that WG had the stealthfire nerf planned for some time, yet it is equally clear that they never communicated it to the CCs. So in effect they held back on that change until the very last moment. Even you dislike it, but when you step back a little, it is worse than that. It looks intentional, because all WG needed to do was tell the CCs "hey guys, there might come a seriously big change", like they did with the hydro change. They informed them about it, yet held this back? It's shady and ugly. -
German destroyers and the future of stealth firing
Unintentional_submarine replied to dasCKD's topic in General Discussion
They have indeed said that, but they have yet to put forth anything that could be construed as a future nerf for BBs, and it has been months and months since that (and they have mentioned it at least a few times). So what can we make of that? Meanwhile we heard about this open water stealthfire dislike only recently (in the past there has been murmurs, but nothing like 'we don't want it'), and really soon afterwards they push this out. Now, stealthfire from open water is indeed fairly silly. However, there comes certain issues with increasing the detection penalty. DDs engaging in their knifefights will at the end of that fight (unless it ends in smokes for both sides) still be detected because of that. I can absolutely see DDs being much less willing to engage each other due to the risks. Sure, when the enemy DD spots you you always run the risk of getting slammed by the enemy fleet, hence why it is often a good idea to end the fight fast. Now it seems the reverse, just don't get into that fight. So there are some pretty serious risks involved with this that don't really have anything to do with the problem of shooting someone, who then can't see you back. I agree that isolated incident is annoying and not a good mechanic. But the problem, as I see it, isn't that it goes away, but that it impacts other areas, making everything more risky. DDs are already the ships that tend to die first, I'm not sure it is a good thing overall if that went up. -
German Destroyers Nerfed Before Launch
Unintentional_submarine replied to Darksith_77's topic in General Discussion
Let's see how long ago, shall we? Flamu I know did his first video after the NDA lifted. He stated after the Monday stream he would do the first video then. Fits with the amount of premium time his account had left (on Monday he had 13 days left, just as in the first German DD video). So days ago is correct, if looking at it from now. He literally did it as late as possible in order to avoid this issue. The point of the Community Contributors isn't for thier own sake, if that was so, WG wouldn't have made a program for them, and just left them do their stuff. Obviously they are a benefit for WG. They are given these things in order to showcase the lines so we can make informed decisions, and to sell the lines. Then making changes of this size so late is shady as hell. Oh oh oh... leaks indicated this might happen! Leaks we are told to not put much trust into. But one could also say, if the changes were ready so long in advance, why drop them on the ships on the very day they were released on NA. It smells. Either WG messed up, or they intended for this. -
Where are the Christmas convoy missions?
Unintentional_submarine replied to bigbramble's topic in General Discussion
No, RU and SEA had full access. And at the time NA had less than half of EU's numbers... so they had it a little better, but only a little. But let's not forget the bonus loot boxes they got that were progress mark things, where we had to expend the pearls to get stuff. -

Where are the Christmas convoy missions?
Unintentional_submarine replied to bigbramble's topic in General Discussion
It would be a nice, and honestly long overdue, surprise if WGEU cane out with an announcement of something different but just as good for the convoy part. A year ago I would have assumed such a scenario to be most likely from the situation we are in now. Unfortunately my faith in WGEU has been eroded over the the time I have spent with this game, so I no longer think that optimistic scenario is very likely. Oh sure, they will absolutely say something along the lines of "We have something special in mind, and you will get a chance to get those things"... but never say when or how. And those are important bits of information, but WGEU has learned... they have learned to give us even less information, so when the hammer does drop and it is a pathetic showing, they have a strong defense in place for hte inevitable "but you promised" comments (which we all know aren't the important ones, but are the ones that are the easiest to crush). -
Bismarck shells bouncing at 2.5km
Unintentional_submarine replied to Tredka's topic in General Discussion
There is a pretty good chance the shells stuck the deck rather than the sides, or the sides of the turrets/barbettes, and those surfaces are thick enough to bounce 380mm AP at harsh angles. -
Mutsu-Nagato class premium TierVII BB
Unintentional_submarine replied to Ebu34's topic in General Discussion
Yeah, she won't be a full stock Nagato, none of the other stock'ish ship are what one would consider fully stock. Even Arkansas Beta, which is about as stock as they come, is not going at stock speed. And Arizona, well, she is a monster while still being a pre-war ship with little of the usual American stuff (in fact I would argue that aside from how her hull is, she is remarkably non-American). And that leaves me with a little hope, however, if Mutsu really is supposed to be a post-Kanto Earthquake 'hero ship', then I can't see her having much going for her. Heh... my little WTF clip wasn't intended for the AA, the AA can be pretty bad and still not be a major issue (Arizona and Fuso comes to mind), it was the combination of factors. So yeah, I agree with takeda here, if she is as crap as I fear, then I hope she floats like granite. But I would naturally prefer her to be an honest, fair and good ship. Arizona showed that it could be done (though arguably she might even be too good), so here's hoping.- 43 replies

German Premium Destroyer?
Unintentional_submarine replied to Umbrascythe's topic in General Discussion
That's not the 1938B. This is [EDIT] Well this is embarrassing. I don't know how I managed to read it to be 1938B when it was 1936B. So I was talking way past you guys... Good job me. I was considering the 1938A/Ac, but those are clearly at least T9-10 material. Same with the Zerstörer 1945. So those are out, but I thought maybe it was going in the wrong direction and began to consider the Raubtier class (Torpedoboot 1924). Not entirely sure where one of those would fit, seems like somewhere between T4 and T5. -

Goodness, that's hilariously bad for a ship that doesn't have the advantages Bayern has (being the least powerful, but still close to Mutsu). There has to be more to this story.- 43 replies

German Premium Destroyer?
Unintentional_submarine replied to Umbrascythe's topic in General Discussion
It is more like a T6. In fact it is very close to Ernst Gaede with the 128s. The main differences between the two would be size, the Ognevoi turret layout, looks like a bigger T-22 but probably somewhat more maneuvrable than Ernst.
