WGing allowed BB to manually shoot secondaries in an alpha version......
Unintentional_submarine replied to Dbars_eu's topic in General Discussion
It has 20 5 inchers and 10 each side. -
running out of shot powder

Nice connection. Even if it wasn't that it is a reasonable explanation. -
BB Dispersion secretly fixed?
Unintentional_submarine replied to 2go4it's topic in General Discussion
Nah... No changes. In fact I would say the opposite if I had to say something. And that is obviously not true. Sometimes there is luck on your side, sometimes on your enemy's side. The point is to make sure you keep hitting. Last night I had a game where I scored but a single citadel... still did 75k damage in my Fuso. It was a reasonably bad game in terms of luck, but you also have to seek out the luck. You can do better than 70k damage in a New Mexico, I'm sure of it. -
How about cruisers with Barrage can/should click on a nearby battleship/carrier (let's say within 5km?) and for the next three minutes have bonus XP gained from AA kills. A bit like when you focus planes. That should mean that the ship involved is active and tries to actually defend the target. The main problem is the number of cruisers with bad AA. They are fresh out of luck then. Maybe it should be a ticking XP generation for when Barrage is active and covers at least one capital ship while enemy planes are within the envelope?

Actually Fuso is the fastest of the three. 25 knots. She also has better acceleration and less of a powerbleed in turns than her competitors.

BB spotter plane fun sights.
Unintentional_submarine replied to VonVolks's topic in General Discussion
Sometimes it is worth it (if the target is far away and behind islands), but generally I just prefer the old sight. Preferably we should be able to turn it off and just have the range bonus. Especially since some people really dislike it. I can live with it, but some don't even use the spotter plane at all. Add to this the fact that the scout fighter is simply up longer and has a shorter cooldown, there is not much reason to keep the spotter for the vast majority of people. The only reason it is 'common' is because the scout fighter isn't available until fairly late for battleships. -
MM Has become hell for Aircraft carriers...
Unintentional_submarine replied to RNG_Tech's topic in Aircraft Carriers
Sure, but it still requires the bombs to actually hit. Getting more than two hits with DBs, even with a good manual drop, is reasonably uncommon. And 3% extra base chance isn't that much in a low hit per minute weapon such as bombs. With the most common result being one or two fires, flooding is arguably better than fires since it lasts longer and does at worst marginally worse damage per tick. -

Yeah, 13 planes are not that costly. It looks like a minimum repair bill. But I haven't actually looked hard at my carriers after the battle to see if they get a similar repair bill for no damage.

As many others the Omaha business is odd to say the least. Des Moines need better guns? Well I think that one deserves to be lined up alongside the Omaha point. The 'Potato' is this case is a bad computer. Probably a Russian nickname for such. Other places have 'bamboo' for instance.

Why are t7 BB's considered so terrible?
Unintentional_submarine replied to ApexTitan's topic in Battleships
It is also the first tier where you will regularly face tier X ships. Mind you, it isn't just BBs that suffer there. Pensacola, Hatsuharu, Hiryu and Ranger all have a reputation for being rather less than the average of their classes. Myoko has her detractors, but since the Mogami swap she is probably not that bad off in tier VII. The two carriers might not seem bad right now, but back when you had full tiers more or less, they could be a real pain too. I would argue that aside from the unfavourable MM position, it is the tier where you have the last of the 'old' weeded out. Thus you have 'unfinished' ships so to speak, that exhibit some poor function somewhere, but from Tier VIII and on, the ships are a lot more whole, aside from the Izumo and Kagero. Finally it is probably the best tier to implement a weak ship in general. Before that and it will matter a lot less, both because of the time required to grind it, as well as the limited impact due to more favourable MM. At Tier VII things will hurt more, but not so much as to drive people away. So it serves as an incitement to get Premium or make people spend money on free XP. -
It reduces the dispersion by 7%. Now, whether this means a 7% reduction in dispersion area or a 7% reduction in the dispersion radius is anyone's guess. And yes, it matters quite a bit, the latter being considerably better than the former. Based on experience, I would expect it to be the latter, but I have no evidence to back it up. Though when presented to us in other forms, dispersion shows up as a length (meaning radius or diameter), and would arguably be easier to calculate since the dispersion is applied as an ellipse.

"Sexiest" ship in-game

Haha... That's the game I also made contact with Fuso first. But compared to Yamato I found her to be, well unbalanced. -
How does the hitting mechanic exactly work?
Unintentional_submarine replied to Thonar's topic in General Discussion
Haven't noticed anything in regards to Clevelands being particularly hard to hit in general. However, most captains of Cleves are by that point rather experienced in the entire 'never stop maneuvering' aspect. Against the lower tier cruiers you will still find a lot of people that just sail in a straight line while getting punished badly. Admittedly the Cleveland can keep it's turrets on target with ease. In any case, that is my main observation in regards to the Cleveland. The skippers are just more experienced and handle the ship somewhat better, and as such battleship guns can have a bit of a rougher time hitting them. But certainly not to the point you have experienced. So bad string of luck I would say. In regards to the heavy cruisers. Well those ships tend to be either less maneuverable or have turrets that can't really match the turning ship, thus that cuts down on their tendency to dodge. The Cleveland is just in the sweet-spot in this regard. -
Last advice, don't go broadside to broadside with an Arkansas or Wyoming. It is just inviting punishment.

Suggestion... Show personal score hits in team report
Unintentional_submarine replied to Major_Headache's topic in Archive
You can see how well a player did by how much XP they gained. XP is gained as a function of the percentage of damage they did of the total health of the target in question, with a modifier based on the relative tiers (bonus for higher tier, penalty for lower tier). I have many times topped or ended second with 0 kills. As have others. When that happens, and the player isn't in some 5 tiers lower ship, I always expect them to have done really well. That's what I do when it is me in that position. Kill numbers are relatively useless. However, that doesn't mean it wouldn't be nice to have a lot more details. Such as in the list of ship I have hit, how much damage did I do to that target and by which means. And of course in the teamscore list mousing over a teammember (or enemy for that matter) and get a total damage number for the battle. Positions on the enemy list are often harder to evaluate as you can't compare to yourself as easily, unless it is a draw. -
Your best and average BB preformance.
Unintentional_submarine replied to Gunerstile's topic in Battleships
Average of all my BBs? Don't know that. But my Kongo average is around 82k, and top is 158k. -
See I can't participate because the first options are bad. I don't find the border-running to be innovative or game ehancing at all. But it isn't glitching. Glitching is when something in the code has failed to account for something, like when a map has a small 'hole' and you get go into the walls in an FPS and be safe in there. This mechanic is acting the way they intended it to, there is nothing wrong with it from a coding perspective. They even intended the walls to be slideable. It is an intended feature. However they didn't consider the value of staying there, rather than sliding for a while until you can get off. That part is obviously not intended, but at the same time it is clearly not very high on their priority list. You might be able to argue the point about abusing an unintended consequence of an intended feature, but it pretty much falls apart when WG themselves are not really bothering with changing it any time soon. Should it be changed? Yes. Should it be changed radically? Probably yes. And all we have heard is that they might change it sometime in the rather far future (when they don't stress soon or something like that, it sounds like months, and probably more than three). But even when they get around to changing it, we can't be sure that they actually 'fix' it as we would like it to. it might be something very small, leaving the present features in place. Or it might be a major overhaul. Until such a time, I suggest people voice their displeasure about the functionality, but shut the hell up about people doing it. I dislike it as well, but this morality campaign some people have going? Please stop it.

French Navy: Any thoughts on it?
Unintentional_submarine replied to CrazyWelshy's topic in General Discussion
I suggest you guys take a look at the Alsace class. It should be able to sit easily at T9 and maybe T10, T9 with it's 380mm guns (3x3 or 3x4 setups, design option 1 and design option 3 respectively) and T10 with it's 406mm guns (3x3, design option 2). At T10 it might lack a bit of punch though. -

Atago, Grem and New Mexico (top hull, with the old blue and red paint scheme, the new colour is ugly but the ship remains very nice). -
What Were Your Greatest Gaming Achievements Today ?
Unintentional_submarine replied to Hanszeehock's topic in General Discussion
In itself not a super impressive battle. Sure I did well, but I was in a lower tier battle, I had to do well. No the interesting part is the Double Strike. I got that in one salvo on one target. It just so happened that a destroyer was hugging the Cleveland I was shooting at. Killed both and was most surprised, only noticed the reason when I looked more carefully at the minimap. Quite amusing, and the first time I have done this, or even seen it, in a battleship (topedoes doing this is relatively common). -
Anyone noticed an aim assist? (The annoying kind not the unfair mod)
Unintentional_submarine replied to Remi_Drexel's topic in General Discussion
At long range the target sometimes blinks out just as you fire. Or running behind a smoke screen etc etc. As I said, you want the lock on every time you fire, but you are not always the master of it. -
MM Has become hell for Aircraft carriers...
Unintentional_submarine replied to RNG_Tech's topic in Aircraft Carriers
But flooding last a hell of lot longer, and it slows the target down.
