Opinion regarding the released German cruiser line

But where are the Deutschlands then? P and D are just upgrades of the Deutschland. And The O-class isn't fitting in the cruiser line with 15 inch guns.

That's the stats for the Königsberg class and Leipzig. Nürnberg got up to 12 rpm. Exactly, and that's why I think it is enough of an upgrade over the Königsberg class in terms of power. But as noted, these German ships were fragile things. Imagine them with somewhat less HP pool and little armour (which would be true, 50mm belt is not impressive). They would be the ultimate DD killers, but face an enemy heavy cruiser and they would vanish in a cloud of black smoke. Also the penetration value of those guns was not exactly impressive. But man did they have a high muzzle velocity, 960mps.

Soft stat upgrades. AA, range and armour (armour was indeed upgraded). Also with the change in turret placement the class got better balanced and increased the RoF dramatically for Nürnberg. Those stats alone make the Nürnberg a clearly superior ship, if of similar outwards looks. It should be noted however that Nürnberg looked quite different from Leipzig and the Königsberg ships, with a more boxy superstructure and the spotter plane in another location (because of the larger funnel). In terms of outward appearance the Nürnberg was about as different from the Königsberg class as the Phoenix is to the Omaha.

Opinion regarding the released German cruiser line

No... just no. Roon and York and just classic German naval names. Those two armoured cruisers would have absolutely no chance at VII and IX, they would probably have problems at III or IV as it is. And it says nothing of the several tiers between the same class... and it would also be the first time one class of ship would occupy different tiers (with one in between no less).
  5. Unintentional_submarine

Opinion regarding the released German cruiser line

I agree that the German ships appear somewhat weak almost all the way to Admiral Hipper (even there it is not certain, Admiral Hipper vs Mogami vs New Orleans, can probably match New Orleans, but not Mogami). Especially the idea of pitting the Kalrsruhe against post-WWI designs seems imbalanced. Unless the german 10.5cm guns are going to be cruelly good in penetration and RoF. And I sort of doubt it. It certainly won't be protection as the German light cruisers were notorious for their fragility. Both in WWI and later.

    Cruiser suicide train

You can see the ships in the first shot. Cleveland, Murmansk and two Kumas. Enemy ships are a Nicholas and an Isokaze. A bit further out a friendly Isokaze is spotting an enemy Mutsuki.

Opinion regarding the released German cruiser line

They would indeed fit terribly bad in a battleship line. That's what worries me. It was a reasonably famous class of ships, but as usual, it was the one that went out in a spectacular way that captured the imagination. Thus only Admiral Graf Spee would be a good premium. But as the German tree is going to lack ship in general, I can't imagine an actual real class of ships won't be included as a regular ship. It is simply not a good decision to let one of the few real ships not show up in the tree, but add paper designs in it's place.

Opinion regarding the released German cruiser line

Yes, I wonder at that too. No Deutschland makes me worries that it will be crammed into the battleship line. And Emden, while a pretty crappy ship, is still a viable ship. Do wonder about those high tier ships. As far as I know there weren't any real German plans for heavy cruisers after the Admiral Hipper class. There were the P-class and the D-class (older designs though), but those were pretty much just updated Deutschlands and would be incredibly odd to include but not the Deutschlands themselves. By the way OP, the T4 is the SMS Karlsruhe. And no SMS Blücher makes me sad. It would be an excellent T5. If you can't be bothered to look her up, well armoured, 8.3 inch guns but relatively slow.

But we don't even get XP for that [edited]

Yes, but it also unfairly diminishes the cruisers with relatively poor AA. Cruiser escorts don't protect so much with AA (Cleveland, Atlanta and DM do) as they discourage attacks or downright reduce the impact of incoming attacks with the panic. If it were to be based on kills, only those three cruisers would really be worth it to escort with. Or if the other cruisers were worth it, they would be absolutely OP in the escort role.

But we don't even get XP for that [edited]

But how do you differentiate between escorting and just incidentally being in the vicinity? Personally I want a ticking XP bonus for when Barrage is up. And for every capital ship in the envelope, while enemy planes are also in it (you can also make their numbers and type be a factor, so fighters or non-CV planes don't grant the benefit), you gain X amount of XP per second, on top of a base value per ship (in order to grant a benefit to driving enemy planes off temporarily). Thus when the cruiser pops his Barrage, he has to consider how to get the most of it. Does he do it for that single DB squadron? Or should he wait for the big three TB strike lurking out there? This would make escorting a real option, without messing with XP per plane killed which can quickly become incredibly unbalanced.

Minekaze needs to go from tier V

The Minekaze might be 'considered' the most OP DD of the low tiers, but she clearly isn't. The very excellent Asia stats has her as not only below the Grem for average XP, but also below the Nicholas. Let that sink in for a moment. 'The problem' as many perceive it is that the Minekaze is a capital ship killer. It's average damage is much higher than either of the other two. Yet it's XP gain is less. Why? Because the Minekaze attacks capital ships that have large healthpools. Meanwhile the other two destroyers attack... well, Minekazes. And they flat out murder them. Thus we are back to the old 'BB sees something killing him, it must be OP' sort of thing. Obviously it is more complicated than that, but do you see IJN DD skippers complain that cruisers and enemy DDs kick the living daylights out of them, and thus gain better rewards? No. Of course not. Another important stat is the kills per battle. And here the Minikaze leads the other two. How can that be? Easy. The Minekaze is drawn to BB skippers that place themselves in harms way. Thos skippers are more likely to be lower tiered, like in a Myogi or Wyoming. Killing one of them will generate a lot of damage, but not a lot of XP. Essentially the Minekaze is seemingly very dangerous because it faces a lot of ignorant skippers. It would tank pretty badly if it's enemies were aware of their surroundings. The Mutsuki is not only worse, but by T6 the most bad behaviour has been beat out of people. BBs don't go into narrow channels as much and so on. Also the maps change to favour more lumbering ships. And finally, the Mutsuki is much less likely to face the same T4 battleships the Minekaze preys upon.

2 new US tier 10 CA (patch 4.1)

Prompted by this I went into the Training Room with my Kongo vs 3 Hoshos. The planes showed up at exactly 6.2km. With a bit of rendering time, like you get when a ship comes around an island, I can put it at best at 6.5km. This is actually an important bit of info, that I had wrong.

    Bismarck sighted!

He was sticking to maximum range for about 80% of both games. Amagi and North Carolina aren't that much different there, and both of those are considered reasonably accurate ships. The remaining 20% shows something else. The groupings were pretty good at 15km and less, and it was entirely down to his lack of leading, or overleading, that he didn't get good hits. Now, it isn't some Aoba that lands hits where you aim every time, but it certainly isn't a Colorado. Far from it. But as others have noted, it just seems everything that you post these days is negativity. You don't need to be a fanboy to see good things. Don't take this an attack on your person, but doesn't it strike you how much you lash out at the game, the devs and whoever else gets in your way? I used to value your posts, but recently I don't. Not because they 'don't follow the party line' of loving everything etc. etc., but because it seems like they are coming from someone who has stopped enjoying something, and makes sure to let everyone else know it. I don't know what it is, and honestly, it neither matters what it is, nor is it my business. However it clearly affects your posting here. Again, I'm not trying to attack you. I usually don't step into these matters, but as noted, I used to value your posts, and rather prefer to see them return.

Any news on when the skillships will be nerfed? (CVs)

He was a prudent and observant player. In the company of others he made sure that he was the least attractive target. That's something I often hope to make myself, but if you are on the surface, it is generally harder to see if it works, or if the carrier had another target intended from the beginning. So it is good to see how pre-emptive evasion might impact the decisions. Not that I haven't played CVs, but I already know myself.

2 new US tier 10 CA (patch 4.1)

Unless something has changed recently, CV planes get spotted at 8km. Source: Same Sharana Well then the AA gun let off and increases it. But still. I suppose ambushing a flight of planes would be tasty as heck. I'm interested in the fact that the Worchester doesn't have any DP guns listed. That means no Barrage ability? Surely not! So I guess their 3 inchers will count for that.

Can you not get 2 Torp sdns with the Bogue?

The bomber loadout is a trap. Don't pick it. Essentially go with stock loadout, unless you really want to play with fighters, all the way to Essex. But bomber loadout is almost never a good idea.

2 new US tier 10 CA (patch 4.1)

Those two TX cruisers... if those stats keep, they will be beasts and then some. Move over DM and Zao, you just got made obsolete. And Kamikaze... urgh... What's the point of it?

    Kawachi in tier 6 game?

Honestly, it should have a favourable MM rating. Like the Yubari, Mikasa and some of the others. It is just not right to pit it up against T6, and especially not on Ocean where they can't even attempt to hide.
  19. Unintentional_submarine

    Bismarck sighted!

Both look pretty damn good. Not just their looks, but also their performance. The spread is reasonably good. The speed is obviously good. HE is crap (and he still got three kills with it). Armour seems great. The last battle in Bismarck had him soak the fire from an Iowa, an Amagi and a Fuso into the belt nearly 90 degrees on. Didn't look like any of the hits were citadels. Damn though, QB isn't terribly good with battleships huh? In fact he is quite bad. Still, he managed to get some value out of both ships. Conclusion: They are pretty damn awesome.

    Kawachi in tier 6 game?

A few days ago I was playing in my Aoba, on Ocean. Noticed something odd. A Kawachi. He wasn't even in a division, so there was no excuse. Instantly I felt that that was particularly cruel to the poor fellow. Kawachi on Ocean... against Fusos and New Mexicos. I'm sure he had a lot of fun.

Any news on when the skillships will be nerfed? (CVs)

I have watched it. It isn't that I'm bad at it, it is about finding new tricks that I didn't know before. Watching from a carrier's perspective tends to help more with that as it is the active part in the encounter. A good BB dodger will anticipate the attack, so seeing that from top down, will provide more clues as to how the BB thinks.

    Tirpitz stats...and torps...

Expect the one showed in SideStrafe's video isn't from WWI. It is from the early 30s, and is the last tricolour before the infamous ensign. Technically speaking Germany had more than a few ensigns over the timeperiod the ships cover. But I do hope WG doesn't go overboard with them and keep to a few.

Any news on when the skillships will be nerfed? (CVs)

It does show things like that, at least some the time. The glitches are generally just the planes popping out a bit and then settling back into place within a second. The other glitch is the lack of showing the squadrons being selected, but that is mainly a highlight issue. But I suppose it can be so crappy that it is worthless. In any case, good luck with finding another Neo.

Any news on when the skillships will be nerfed? (CVs)

Well, yeah. But you wanted to show a New York that evades like a boss, and I actually want to see that (I'm always on the lookout for special skills to improve). Then your orders, shown perfectly, hardly matters, we can see the planes move (and people will probably guess it was you that ordered it). The planes do glitch a bit, but I have seen replays used by others for instructional videos, like iChase and Aerroon. The glitches aren't really that bad (they would be terrible if you had to play with them though). You still see the correct movements and strike vectors. It's not like the 0.3.1.x period where you couldn't trust the replay. If you just comment that the video is slightly glitchy, then people will accept it. Most are interested in the results at the end of the day anyway.

    Bismarck sighted!

Indeed. And that actually impacts her combat capability. As most of us knows, if you catch a battleship in a turn where he presents his red, then he is dead. *oh yeah rhyme* Bismarck doesn't need to turn to have that. Just hit that red, riding high. Presumably it will be changed.
