Why are CVs overperforming on EU only?

I honestly don't think anyone seriously though that EU CV players were better. It is after all one of the most absurd things to say, but it is also a good way to get a rise out of those who despise CVs in general. We have pretty much entered a phase where there are parties taking shots at each other in any way possible. It isn't pretty.

Ranked Battles as a game design doesn't really work

Personally I'm sitting out on Ranked for the time being. Partially to let them fix whatever bugs there are (seems there are some issues with granting stars for victories), but also to let the players settle into their positions. Thus I can predict behaviour ahead of time and not get frustrated once I begin. Or at least that is the plan. Can't be sure it will work.

    Hype please?

Oh interesting, didn't know about that. Have any useful links for more of that? Well, you can be forgiven for that, it seems the USN cruisers did have a tendency to shed their bows from torpedo attacks. A bit like the German cruisers dropped their sterns. One could argues in jest that the German designers looked to lizards dropping their tails... might confuse the predator.

    Hype please?

Dammit... making mistakes left right an center tonight. In any case, I still think Kolberg will be rather weak.

    Hype please?

You are right, I was apparently thinking of the earlier 105mm guns. The 15 figure stuck in my mind I guess.

    Hype please?

Yeah I failed to deliver the 'proposal' as to what I think the T7 is. I think it is going to be the first design study for a new German cruiser in 1923, a development that eventually resulted in the Deutschlands. No real name is around since it was just a study, but it goes under the working 'name' of Entwurf 1/10. Represented in the top right corner (take note of Entwurf 11/30 as well). To me it is perfect. 4x2 205mm guns, 4x2 torpedo tubes, 32 knots, relatively small displacement (thus rather weak armour). It is also right on the money in terms of age compared to Pensacola and Myoko. I wouldn't be surprised if it is actually the basis upon which they designed the Admiral Hippers later on, the similarities are very strong. The T9 and 10 are not going to be the D or P classes. Firstly the D is barely better than the Deutschlands, and the P would perhaps fit T10 fairly enough, but it would be a bit strange to have it but not the preceeding Panzerschiffe represented, especially Deutschland. The shipline we have long been going on in the 'what we know' thread shows something that is called the Super Eugen at T9. So a beefed up Admiral Hipper at T9? Could work. But then again T10 is represented by Deutschland. Maybe that is the reason it is unknown, because Deutschland simply couldn't hack it at T10 but P class could? Give it whatever AA and speed is required and be done with it. No need to be hampered by the real thing.

    Hype please?

But that's the thing, the M-class isn't exactly a step up as much as a step to the side. It drops a gun and 4 torpedo tubes, and we can't exactly buff the rate of fire over Nürnberg with her 15rpm. The M-class was supposed to correct the faults with the previous ships, faults that have barely any bearing on the game as it is about structural integrity and seakeeping. In power terms the M-class was a step down. Heck they would even have had worse armour. Let's not forget that it is supposed to go up against Myokos and Pensacolas. Imagine a ship with 80% of the guns of Myoko but at a smaller caliber, with fewer torpedoes, worse armour and most likely worse HP because of a much smaller displacement. And worse armour than the Pensacola. Not to mention the AA will be quite sad in comparison to either (though that is one area that can easily be buffed due to it being a papership). Arguably she doesn't even belong at Tier 6... I can only see her work at Tier 5. Against Furutaka and Omaha she looks much more reasonable in al areas. But she won't be there.

    Hype please?

Kolberg looks really good in the striped camo. But not sure if she will be good. At best one can hope her 105mm guns will have their 15 RoF, because in all other areas she will be weak. [EDIT] Doesn't she lack a set of 105mm guns? I count 10 on the shots, and she had 12... Unless it is supposed to be the 150mm upgrade, but then it should only be 6. It's as if one of the middle sets were removed, and the remaining set was move to a more central position.

ShipComrade.com (World of Warships Fansite) : Updated 1/6/16

Would the Australian flag be a suitable compromise? I mean I can imagine every other country would be pissed one of the others were chosen, but Australia being like a "oh well, when not mine, it's better than X"?

What is ahead of us - RU streams with devs and Q&A

They said earlier? When? Damn, this is important stuff. But I'm glad it is coming relatively soon. Say when the Germans come? Doesn't that seem about the time for 0.5.1?

    Thank you

Exactly. Besides, usually 'our' solutions are incredibly limited in scope. It is usually based on our personal experiences and as such have a heavy slant in some direction. No one person should come up with solutions to 20 different issues, some of which are not normally encountered by said person. It is a recipe for disastrous balance, that would be even worse than now. No, it is simply our job to outline the issues and let the professionals come up with the solutions. It is arrogant of us to claim to have the solution. We are happy amateurs. Single solutions, that might work, but not solutions for widespread issues. And the problems presented here are all over the place, or in other words, a fundamental problem.Fundamental problems are things that we should tell the developers we are aware of, because if the players are aware of such issues, then it can become a serious problem if not corrected fast. Thankfully the new developer stream addressed some of the more vague issues. Like tutorials and the 'it's a beta' excuse. That's good. But even then it is more a "we would like" rather than "next update will have". As such it is at best an opportunity to have hope, rather than one for optimism. By the way, I agree with pretty much everything but the placement of Nagato. It is much better than it's position. Having both right now, I can tell you it is leagues ahead of Colorado, not just 'better'. But that's a minor issue when I agree with the overall message of the graphs. Also you don't mention the port chat cleaning the messages now and then, for whatever reason. That's a crappy thing to be honest, and not acceptable in a released game.

Now, where is the aloe vera, because this burned

    Honestly didn't notice it.
  14. Ouch ouch ouch... And I agree with our donkey friend for the most part. Thankfully it seems some of the issues have been addressed in the dev stream, but not nearly enough.

What is ahead of us - RU streams with devs and Q&A

I don't actually have it, but I'm very impressed with their approach to PvE missions. From the people I know that have it, they quite like it. So based on them and my own observations from streams and tube, I think I can say that it is something I like. But just because I like that approach doesn't mean that I would like AW more. In fact I'm quite sure I like WoWs more than I would like AW.

What is ahead of us - RU streams with devs and Q&A

Am I the only one that got a very Armored Warfare vibe here? If they implement something like that I would be quite happy. And tutorials... oh man.

WG's "big" WoWS LAUNCH DAY stream a big flop?

The only questions I have in regards to this is: Does WGEU think that the launch went well (as in as it should go)? Was suitable for the situation? Was planned well? Etc. And what does WGEU (or any CM personally) think the playerbase thinks about the launch? And here I don't mean the great grey mass that barely, if even, noticed there was a launch. If there is a disconnect between the two, what is the reason behind that? I'll help by saying that I was utterly surprised at the complete 'another day' feeling here. Yet when I joined my favourite streamers, incidentally from NA, it was a hoot comparably. I would like more of that to be honest. More connections, more interactions, more talk, more delivery. Bonus ships and competitions are great on their own, but at the end of the day, they are not what makes a community. They are the frosting on the cake. And if the cake is a turd, no amount of frosting will make it taste good. Recently, the only red posts I have seen of any consequence, have been in response to complaints, or critique. That smells a long way off of damage control, and a bit of panic. I don't mean 'the house is burning' panic, but in the sense that it is all there is resources for. I was happy for a few minutes with the comments in the ship explosions tread. It was interactive, but at the end of no consequence.

Tirpitz - turret AA removed ?

Exactly. It has, like the Omaha cheek turret AA guns, always been for show only.

4 point captain skill for IJN Destoyer

Since I have gotten Last Stand (which I hadn't yet by last post), I can confirm that for the IJN Destroyers, it is damn good. Engine hits are still annoying, and are still worth moduling up to avoid. But the rudder? Pah! At 75% effectiveness it is still fast, and in one game my rudders got knocked out three times under combat conditions, not even once did I feel like it was troublesome, so I didn't bother repairing it until I was safe again. That's good. In fact that's very good. However, for the Gremyaschy and USN destroyers I can certainly understand if AFT is more attractive, but this is about IJN destroyers.
  20. Unintentional_submarine

I knew the Tirpitz is considered to be a fast ship...

Believe you me, you wouldn't like the game at a proper scaling.
  21. Unintentional_submarine

    Hype please?

I'm thinking that it will either be a premium ship/class (would be pretty sad if that happened), or it will be a branch-off from the cruiser line at a later date. A bit like the USN battlecruisers that can only really line up the Lexington class and the Alaska class (and thus obviously can't be a full line). A one-off (or even a minor line itself with the D and P classes higher up) makes sense, since this would be a rather different ship to play with compared to pretty much everything else. I shudder to think of it as a battleship... What I want though, is to know what their intentions are in regards to the Deutschlands and possibly the D and P classes.

    USSR BBs?

Still better than USA where they get that even when it goes well for the allied ships. "When the British shoot, the Germans duck, when the Germans shoot, the British duck, when the Americans shoot, everybody ducks" So it isn't really a recent thing, given this is a WWII saying.
  23. Unintentional_submarine

    USSR BBs?

Sovetsky Soyuz isn't a suitable candidate for tier 10. 9 16 inchers would be wholly underpowered compared to Yamato, Montana and H41, and probably also L3 (since it is the presumed TX BB for the British). She is however a very suitable tier 9, being effectively the same as both Iowa and Izumo in terms of arms and armour.
  24. Unintentional_submarine

    Tashkent-class destroyer

The option is between a T4 cruiser or a high tier DD. Considering the crappiness of the Yubari, I think having Tashkent as a low tier cruiser would be bad. Not only is she modern, but she isn't even all that big compared to contemporary destroyers. She just fits the higher tiers better than the lower tiers.

    Farming close quarters expert flags

I have gotten exactly two of those. Two. It isn't something you can just farm and not suffer heavily in other ways. One has to remember that in order to get it you have to kill the target. That pretty much precludes trying to slowkill someone with secondaries as normally a 'friendly' ship will come along and 'help' out. I can't remember the first one, but I remember it was a surprise. The second one was very much expected, but was a total chance encounter. I was engaged with a Colorado in my Nagato when a Hiryu got into range. At first I shot at her with the main guns, until I figured out that she was out of planes and that hurting the Colorado was better. So I let the secondaries do the job while I focused on the Colorado. In the end I sank her and ironically she sank me with her secondaries (fires took away the last bits after the Colorado delivered the last of several 4-5k salvoes). That Hiryu was just about enough for the achievement. They did around 16k damage in that fight (with another 6k from fires, but that doesn't count it seems). But how often does a Hiryu or any other carrier, voluntarily get close to a battleship, while no other friendlies are around? And in how many of those cases doesn't said carrier not try to go for a ram (it is better to shoot it than trying to avoid the ram)? The best ships I can see for it would probably be a cruiser. The smaller HP pool should make getting the required damage a bit easier, and the higher speed should mean it is more possible to catch a carrier out of place. Still, it isn't easy and farming for it is never going to be good gameplay I'm afraid.
