What is ahead of us - RU streams with devs and Q&A
Unintentional_submarine replied to Sharana's topic in General Discussion
Didn't they get the 'in water' range extended a bit with 0.4.1? They certainly don't seem as stunted as before. -
Or those Polish DDs were British... It's honestly a stupid argument. Ships that were in one nation's service and got transferred, those you can say were nation X', but not ships that there planned and built for nation Y from the get go.

0.5.0.1 Maintenance and Patch notes
Unintentional_submarine replied to Thorontir's topic in General Discussion
Their patchnotes have always been like this. There are always a few notes where we are left to wonder what it really means. Do not disagree that proofreading and proper translations are needed, but when that doesn't happen, I see no need to withhold the somewhat confusing notes as they are not going to get better... In fact, time is probably better in this case in order to let people figure it out or asking around. -
What we know about Ships: Updated 05/04/2017
Unintentional_submarine replied to mr3awsome's topic in General Discussion
1: Saipan is at present the only confirmed premium CV, but it isn't something that will come next patch it seems. They are worried about too many non-CV players flooding into games with not a clue. 2: They have plans, or at least hopes, for splitting the lines. Though it seems the IJN CV line is at present rather set, with another 'conversion' line coming at a later date. But at present the focus is clearly on more nations rather than more branches on the shiptree. 3: Same as the previous point. They have mentioned battlecruisers in their own line, though in the case of the USN ships, they are likely to get combined with some fast battleships, as opposed to a slow battleship line next to it (terminating in SoDak 20 it seems). 4: They want to, but nothing much has been said for a while. Based on the last comments on it, they are probably pretty low on the priority, and WG still needs to find a proper gameplay function for them. -
Nice healthpool and good range. Torp rating is... hard to figure out, but at 28 it is actually not half bad. I think we can expect torps one step up from the ones Tirpitz carries. Perhaps 8km range and a bit more speed or damage. Doubt it will be an upgrade in all three categories. AA is ok. Nothing more. She will be able to protect herself and make the attacker pay, but she can't really hurt them in the vital setup phase.

Polish destroyer confirmed!
Unintentional_submarine replied to rafparis's topic in General Discussion
But guuuyys... according to some of our friends over in the Soviet DD thread, this isn't a Polish destroyer, it is British since it was designed and built there. /trolololo off The simple fact is that this ship can technically be at many tiers. If WG wants it low, then it isn't hard to fit it there, if they want it high, the same applies. Her changes in armament, armaments we have yet to see ingame otherwise (Warspite has some of hte later guns right?), they can do what they want with them, more or less. -
I'm not sure the 21cm guns are the ones being applied to Yorck, the Entwurf I/10 design had 203mm guns. But the turret, for such an early 20s ship, would undoubtedly have been at most an evolution of an older turret format. The very same that every WWI big ship had (Blücher and later essentially). I think that's what they are going for. However, should it be the 210mm guns, it is pretty obvious that the ship will get upgraded ammunition. That it got new ammunition for WWII can't really come as a surprise, this is something every sensible navy did. Every other non-low tier ship with old guns gets it at present. We don't see Warspite sailing around with Jutland-era ammunition, so giving Yorck such would be a fairly silly weakness, especially considering that the hull we are presented is an upgraded one, with several 30s design features. Elevation isn't really an issue ingame. Most ships barely cross 20 degrees (some, such as Cleveland with ATF does have a pretty hefty angle). It shouldn't come as a surprise that the Furutaka guns were not really of greater performance in terms of range/elevation. At that age the ammunition was simply comparably badly made for ballistics, suffering a great deal of drag and reduction in velocity. I would expect her to have pretty crappy guns at stock hull, and much better at B/C hull, a bit like New Mexico and... well, quite a few ships honestly. But nice muzzle velocity is to be expected, and the rate of fire... up to 6rpm (which I doubt she will fully get). That's a whole lot of ouch. Regarding Leach' decisionmaking: He did the bloody right thing. Let's not forget that it wasn't vital to sink Bismarck right then and there. The British would probably have been perfectly satisfied with slowing her down, and then disengaging both big ships (assuming no lucky destruction, Hood was already on the path of a beating, taking hits from both German ships). But we will never truly know. Also, while Leach disengaged, he re-engaged twice afterwards in the course of the day and following night. He didn't run off, scared to fight more. But the tactical situation was obviously not going to be decided in favour of the British at that point.

Yup, credits are the real throttle in this game. They could technically do away with XP and still have a very similar progression (not the same, but similar). I was recently building up my credits for a T6 and two T7 at the same time... The woes of not abandoning all but a couple of a lines. It is actually pretty sneaky by WG. The players focus on the XP, buy free XP with dubloons and use flags for more XP... But doesn't notice that it is the credits that slow them down. Leading to said players having to buy credits or a premium ship. And they barely notice this situation, focused on XP as they are.

As Userext says, it pretty much sounds like a Farragut from that description. -
Atlanta - Additional hull?
Unintentional_submarine replied to SeaMonsterUK's topic in General Discussion
HE can knock out permanently. All turrets have a healthpool of their own, and when depleted, the turret is destroyed. Not sure when it gets incapacitated though. The Atlanta suffer turret losses to both because it has guns all over the place. You can barely hit it and not knock a turret out, if only temporarily. The reason why AP knock them out faster is because the entire penetration damage gets applied. If you hit the turret of course. HE on the other hand gets mitigated by the turret armour but can 'hit' when not hitting it (splash damage from the explosion). Conversely AP tends to be aimed at the waterline where there, unsurprisingly, are no turrets. Hence less AP hits the turrets in normal play. But aim for the superstructure and you will see Atlanta turrets get blown up frequently. More so than HE. -

My experience is that in countries like Germany and France, famous for their 'resistance' to English and famous for dubbing, the younger (sub-40) population are in fact quite capable in English. However many of them don't feel comfortable talking it, for various reasons (met a guy that didn't like to talk in English because he felt his accent was far too thick on top of being somewhat poor at it; didn't bother me). But reading English... Yeah, that they can certainly do. Reading is easier than talking when you 'only' have school-English. I would say that they are no worse off than the Scandinavian countries in this regard, and you don't see them/us complain things aren't written in Danish/Norwegian/Swedish/Icelandic/Faroese/Finnish/whateversmalldialectIforgottomention. So I doubt they will be very angry either. -
Atlanta - Additional hull?
Unintentional_submarine replied to SeaMonsterUK's topic in General Discussion
What? No it doesn't. For self defence perhaps, but the Atlanta doesn't need that at T7. Now I'm beginning to wonder about this thread. AP most certainly knocks out turrets. And does so more commonly than HE in fact. HE knocks out AA a lot more. How rte heck do you suppose battleships knock out other battleship turrets? -
Atlanta - Additional hull?
Unintentional_submarine replied to SeaMonsterUK's topic in General Discussion
No, DP guns work all the time for AA. Even when you use them for 'ground' work. It's a bit silly like that, but I suppose it is a limitation of the engine. I don't know. But they do work all the time, as long as they are not knocked out of course. And AA rating? Really? Come on, you know better than that Ahsoka. AA rating is at best a rough estimate of "can this ship shoot at planes or not", no more. No, the Atlanta is a beast AA ship. Her long range AA is massively better than any other ship in the tiers around her. It is that AA that protects other ships. Medium and close range AA is at best self defence. The Bofors 40mm can at times help, but usually they only come into play in helping allied ships after the planes have dropped their payloads. Unless the CV is an idiot and flies right over your ship of course... But at T7 CV skippers have learned not to do that unless special circumstances apply. In regards to the Pensacola, the Atlanta is even more crazy. The Pensacola long range AA is weaker than the Cleveland, thus it is much weaker than the Atlanta. -
Atlanta - Additional hull?
Unintentional_submarine replied to SeaMonsterUK's topic in General Discussion
Are you kidding me? Her AA is weak? Not it isn't. It is better than Cleveland which is better than Pensacola and New Orleans for the vital long range AA. The AA that actually matters when providing AA cover to other ships. -

But that is what you are saying. The office has the English version but sits on it until all the translations are done. What is wrong with releasing it? The other translations aren't being pushed back because of it. That's my point, there is no loss. I don't mind that the Russians get the info first since it is obviously easier to post things in your native language. It has always been like that in gaming. The most obviouls language gets a preference, in this case Russian (in case of smaller languagebases, like DICE or Paradox for Swedish, it comes in English). And I'm not saying anyone has to go and use google translate at all. They can if they want of course, but nobody has to do that. How the heck do you get that impression? The other languages will get their official translations just as always. But if they can't wait for it, the options in there. As it has always been. No difference whatsoever. Other than more people get the information sooner. So yes, you are effectively saying, "since X, Y and Z can't get their translations as fast, English shouldn't get the information before them, despite it being right there." Oh and nice going on that neg rep. -
Atlanta - Additional hull?
Unintentional_submarine replied to SeaMonsterUK's topic in General Discussion
No better AA than most T6 ships? What are yo on about? Atlanta is one of the truly most serious AA ships in the game. The proposal will nuke this down. Her AA capabilities will not go up, they will go down. For the loss of a turret on either side to boot. -

Unintentional_submarine replied to Userext's topic in General Discussion
Screwing them even more? How? Just because the news gets released earlier in English doesn't mean they don't get translated into the other languages... it isn't some zero sum game here. What is relatively silly is not releasing the English version when you have it. Most of the non-English community have a fair grasp of English anyway (considering that a very significant portion of them have to get their stuff here anyway). The result is that, yes, one group gets the info a little sooner (thankfully it is the group that has the largest secondary language population, so it isn't that bad), but isn't that better than holding it back until everyone has a translation? I seriously don't hope you feel that because someone has it bad, everyone has to have it bad. -

Unintentional_submarine replied to rafparis's topic in General Discussion
If she were to have the British guns and first torpedo fit, then she looks like a T5-6. Not T4. Firstly the guns are DP and they are better than those on the Clemson, they are also able to get more on target. And she is bigger so more HP than the Clemson. And she was massively faster. -
The 'upgrade' from Nicholas to Faragut
Unintentional_submarine replied to 2ndaryBattleTank's topic in General Discussion
They probably included it because there is a bit of a gap between the Clemson and the Farragut of more than a decade. Now, the timeline doesn't always appear to be an issue, as can be seen with ships like Nagato and Colorado (though she is debatable), early 20s ships at T7. However there is also a capability gap and a design gap. I can see why they did it. But the amusing thing is of course that the Nicholas is the best USN DD until the Benson, and I mean in absolute terms. In relative terms even Benson loses to Nicholas (because Nicholas faces much easier opposition). At least that's my opinion. -
C upgrade for IJN battleships
Unintentional_submarine replied to goldencamper's topic in General Discussion
The C hull was introduced recently, because the gap from A to B was too big, so they split the hull so to speak. Both in terms of upgrades and in costs. It costs the same a before (B+C = old B). And yes, the last hull isn't supposed to bring much more than AA and perhaps some secondaries. All the important stuff comes with the B hull. Penetration etc. However, it should be noted that ships that had a C hull before, like Izumo, isn't going to play by those rules, it does receive serious upgrades to the C hull. Mind you, I would still get the hull. The AA on Japanese battleships ranges from bad to ok. And Nagato with the C hull has ok AA, enough to protect you somewhat from air attack if you play it well. The only thing you 'save' is a bit of credits, which in the long run isn't much, considering you have to play through 135k XP in the B hull. I'm not even sure that in the end you will have saved much at all, considering you are likely to have taken more damage overall throughout those battles. -

Possible Free ship for the EU
Unintentional_submarine replied to DexterMaximus's topic in General Discussion
It certainly doesn't look awesome, that's for sure. Shorter torp range than detection, super low health pool, weaksauce guns and just barely tops 30 knots. What is good about it? It seems the Umikaze is miles ahead of it. -
New nation coming to the game soon™
Unintentional_submarine replied to Coldei's topic in General Discussion
The Game Show never ratified the Japanese surrender in WWII, they didn't think Japan lost to the Soviet Union. Conversely, as seen by the multitude of Soviet flags, several Soviet factions broke off and declared the war restarted against the Tokyo Game Show. It is at present unknown how many Soviet splinter factions joined the war. -

"Users with "high karma" is awarded to the various game assets - from Flag signals to premium ships." Well that was a surprise given the responses to questions asked about this. I suppose we can't compliment/report division members right? By the way, what is that graph... I must have missed something. -

And I see a Tokyo Game Show flag (third from bottom, middle)... obviously that nation is slightly unexpected.
