    Konigsberg, er, wtf?

It depends more on the target than anything. If you get the right targets, then you will see stuff like this. *That Minekaze killed me with his guns! Well, I had 500 HP left, but still. It was not pretty. If not... yeah you might see one or two citadels. Königsberg will rack up an impressive amount of citadel hits if she can citadel a target. That 'if' is a big one. She can relatively easily citadel Kumas and Tenryus, she needs a bit of nice broadsiding for Phoenixes, Omahas and Murmansks, but they are still quite citadelable. Furutakas, Clevelands and Aobas are pretty much impossible unless you are uncomfortably close, and in the case of the Cleveland... well if you ever get close enough he is a tomato (a Cleveland will eat a Königsberg for breakfast otherwise), and your torps are a much better bet. I have a total of one citadel against those three cruisers, compared to a huge stack against the first two and a fair few against the middle group. I have found that Königsberg does best in island maps. Maps like North are pretty bad for her. She needs hose islands to poke out, shoot and get into cover before the enemy retaliates. Big Race was surprisingly awesome for her, while I was surprised at how bad Fault Line was. Every time I engaged an enemy there he was either too far away or too close. I had a hard time getting that right range where she can hit comfortably and be hard to hit herself. Haven't tried New Dawn with her yet. And Hot Spot is... Hot Spot. It can be good and bad for her.

    got my Koningberg

A super lucky freak citadel doesn't make up for the guns' lack of regular run of the mill penetration, just because I have citadeled a Myogi with Gremyashchy HE doesn't mean that it is a good idea to fish for citadels against her with DD guns. Being unable to citadel Furutakas at combat ranges (10km or a bit less) is a major issue when you can't fall back on HE. However I disagree that she has a hard time penning Kumas. As I mentioned previously have had great success citadeling them and Tenryus (I can upload a couple replays if someone is interested). But not Furutakas and certainly not Clevelands and Aobas. They are effectively impevious to Königsberg AP. Well, regular penetrations do happen of course, but seeing 7 shells hit, at a good angle, and getting less than 1000 in damage is pretty discouraging. To me this means that the Königsberg is good for her tier, but utter crap even just one tier up... incidentally that's where Nürnberg sits, and while she has better RoF, the actual shell performance is the same. She is going to have a rough time facing the cruisers around her tier, since only Omaha is really able to be penetrated by her guns. Königsberg is not crap, but her weaknesses mean that she is not for everyone. Those that can make her work, will probably like her a lot. She can wreck house against noobs, all ships can do that. I mean the pre-buff Furutaka could do that. But once you come up against a guy in an Omaha or Murmansk, heck even the Furutaka, that knows what he is doing? Yeah, set those scuttling charges as the Königsberg will lose that confrontation, and lose it badly. Comparing her to other ships... I would say the Kuma is the closest to her gameplay. Not the Cleveland. Kuma suffers from much the same weaknesses and have much the same strengths. Though Königsberg lack the scout fighter that all her peers have (and Kuma), and that is atually a fairly big disadvantage. No 'peeking' around an island for a sneaky DD, no early warning for torpedoes incoming, no protection from air attack.

New Aim Mod (No, realy, this one is new)

Probably for that reason. In CBT we were a much smaller base, with people being on average much more interested in the goings-on on the forum and in the news. The percentage that kept up with these matters, even if only cursory, was probably a lot larger. So more people were aware of the issue. I have so far been accused twice (one was pretty pathetic, the other was more questioning due to a super long range double citadel hit) There is of course also the possibility that the mod was more rife than the present one. Personally I haven't noticed people being particularly more accurate yet.

    got my Koningberg

Königsberg is a temperamental ship, that's for sure. Pit her against her own tier or lower, and she will wreck left and right. She can easily pen ships such as Kuma, Phoenix and Omaha (had a battle against two Kumas and a Tenryu, ended up with 19 citadel hits). Pit her against higher tier ships, and she will instantly feel massively out of her league. I have faced off against Furutakas (same tier, I know) and Clevelands a few times now, and they are not fun at all. Yes, the Furutaka. The only reason I have defeated a couple of them was down to them playing badly and me having a bit of luck. I simply couldn't penetrate their citadels at all (1 citadel hit so far), and the HE simply isn't strong enough to whittle them down. Both my Furutaka kills have been from torpedoes, that says something. The Clevelands are simply something you should avoid at all times. Very long range might work, but she is still considerably better. Against battleships I run. I usually don't in my Murmansk or Omaha, but In Königsberg I run almost instantly. I might drop a few salvoes on them, but otherwise I get clear. I tried a few times in my first battles to do the usual wiggle and HE spam. Didn't work. The fires and HE simply can't do the job in time. It seems every BB hit is a citadel, unless they fire HE, though technically HE can citadel K-berg. Destroyers are food though. The high rate of fire means you can usually get off more than one volley, and having 9 guns per volley does appear to make up for the weak HE. However, I am not proud to say this, but I did get pummelled pretty badly by a Grem. His firepower was simply impressive, and while I was under fire from other ships too, it was the Grem that convinced me to retreat. He even citadelled me from a bad angle... I know the Grem has AP power unrivalled among the DDs (and have used it myself), but it was still a rude shock to be on the receiving end of that for the first time. Essentially she does the same job as the Omaha at that tier, and can pretty much perform the same sweeping kill action. But this is mainly down to many people that that tier not knowing about angling, citadels etc. As soon as an enemy knows how to handle his ship, the Königsberg loses a lot of her shine. In an angle-battle she is bound to come out worse due to poor armour, sub-par penetration and weak HE. Incidentally, against such an opponent her torpedoes aren't that useful either. Overall, I don't find her to be OP. Certainly not as good as Omaha or Murmansk. But she is a very fun ship, and highly enjoyable. I would be very sad to find out she was nerfed.

    ! Königsberg - Max 1500 XP Cutoff?

I just ended a battle where I was sunk in my K-berg (Draw no less). I still got my 100k and XP. I'm rather confident it relies on performance. Do well and you are rewarded ok nicely, do less well and you get a bit less, do marginal damage and you get nothing. Regardless of what we get from it, it doesn't cost anything, so any gains are pure profits. If you don't gain anything... well, I can't help with that. But the fact remains, these ships are free of charge. Too bad the captains don't advance though.

    ! Königsberg - Max 1500 XP Cutoff?

There are no repair costs. So all the credits are pure profits (unless you use premium consumables).

Finally an event worthy of WoWS

Got my Königsberg and took her out. Too bad I got into a T7 match, but most of the enemies were T5. Stuffed her with an engine mod to keep the crits out... got critted twice in a row in the engine. Maybe I should take the mod out again, and Fate won't apply a heavy dose of irony on me again. But it is interesting to see that there were more Ognevois about than Königsbergs... Have seen three Russians and only two Königsbergs (of which one was mine). The Ogres are intersting to face I must say. Long range gunnery seems the way to go. In the game I got my K-berg an Ogre tried to rush me in my Fuso. That didn't go too well for him. He did manage to get off his torps (so close range), but since I was running away and turning this way and that, is was easy enough to avoid. Even with those fast torps. And killing him was then a breeze, my secondaries did their job and softened him up for my main guns. Was enough with just half the guns on target. K-berg seems incredibly squishy, but I only have that game though. So I will keep that in mind but not stick to it just yet. Conversely, her AP is surprisingly poor. As I mentioned I was in a mainly T5 game against multiple Furutakas. These Tacos presented thier broadsides a lot, and were easy to hit. I sent about 7 full salvoes into the nice broadside of one of them, nicely placed too... result? 1 citadel. One. The range was about 10-12km. She can't pen the Furutaka broadside on unless it is very close. That's not impressive at all.

    We get Ognevoi!

Seems logical to me. T5-6 are the most populated, so the ships are most likely to get good matchmaking. As for it being the Ognevoi and Königsberg rather than Gnevny or Nürnberg... Well the Gnevny is pretty much the Gremyashchy with shorter range torps, so it makes sense that it would be the Ognevoi. Not Nürnberg? Well, K-berg and N-berg are supposedly the best performing German cruisers (thus one can assume this is a nerf-test of sorts), and of those I wouldn't be surprised to see Königsberg being the one performing the best (since she faces enemies that she can reliably pen, as opposed to Nürnberg).

    Lots of events for October!

Well it seems it is indeed the Ognevoi. Have met quite a few of them in my quest to get the Königsberg (man, is she fragile!). So it is the same contest after all.

What is ahead of us - RU streams with devs and Q&A

The IJN ships are better with the average players, the top player stats are very clearly in favour of all the USN CVs. Now, we only have rather limited tools to work with and the stats presented are not even. I argued this point in another thread. The USN CVs have a much higher skill ceiling, while the IJN CVs are much more forgiving (hence is better on average, though it should be noted that the USN CVs have that fighter loadout trap that is bound to drag the line down a great deal). In any case, I gave up on CVs as they became less and less interesting. For myself, while still doing well, I didn't enjoy the constant frustrations... How could I be frustrated and still do better than in other ships? I'm not sure, which is why I'm hoping for some upheavals in the gameplay, like the inverted spread, which is bound to make things more exciting. Also, you must have noticed the significant drop in carriers played. Even at T6 it is very common to see no carriers at all, and seldomly two on either side. Prior to the changes there were often two on both sides. Clearly the class overall is not doing well. A more thrilling gameplay should make it better at keeping the players, while perhaps more unforgiving earlier on. So fewer CVs T4-5 but more from there on. I can't see that as bad. I miss carriers when I play battleships. Their spotting is vital. There is nothing more annoying than going somewhere in the Colorado (which is just one of the worst, the IJN BBs are also impacted), only to find that three ships opposed you while all the rest went the other way... Good game, now you are locked in.

Do we really want a good community in-game?

I think this video pretty much says it from where I started it. That was about a 'movement', this is quite a bit less significant (though that 'movement' is hardly very significant), but the first 'follower' that greets back essentially has the same role, he/she shows that it is ok to say something, and the initial guy goes from being a weirdo to being a nice guy.

What is ahead of us - RU streams with devs and Q&A

Blue is mine, obviously. No mention of the much expected inverted spread? The thing that might be the saviour of the IJN CVs (in the sense of interest, clearly they aren't too weak). Overall it was a mixed bag. Good and 'meh', but I think the good are better, and some things can be inferred, like the hybrid ships having special features other than more scouts like poor Tone.

    Lots of events for October!

Almost the same... The Russians appear to get the Ognevoi, we get the Gnevny, which many of already know in the form of Gremyashchy. So not entirely the same. Out of curiosity, why the Gnevny? I would have thought that pretty much any other Russian DD would have been better. Though I suppose for those that haven't played with the Grem, it might very well be the best option (not too low and not too high tier). Anyway, I will certainly try for them both... But only actively for the Königsberg.

    Lots of events for October!

Transfer? Don't even mention it... it gives me pangs of sadness. I would do it in an instant. I should have picked NA back in the day, damn, one of my buddies even picked NA by accident and I got him over here instead.

WG fix the loading times already.

Today was the worst for me yet. I spawned in on the wrong side of 18:00... That was a first. Usually things are a bit edgy in hte first battles, losing up to 30 seconds. Then later on I get in rather fast. Not this time though... Even after getting in it took around a minute for hte ship itself to finish loading in. Before that, no camo and no AA guns. What is strange is how this was considerably worse than before. I haven't really fiddled with my system, neither hardware nor software, so the local load should be the same.

What Were Your Greatest Gaming Achievements Today ?

This was a totally insane game... Close Quarters Expert medal from a stock Pensacola, and that was just the least of it. But CQE!!!! DAMN. The secondaries killed two ships in that battle (one of which was a DD I had no right to kill, hadn't even fired at him, suddenly I just got a kill). It was only my third such medal yet. Beyond that I ended up holding a bit back when there were only two enemies left, I didn't want to 'snipe' more kills, and still ended up killing one of them.

To WG: Is there anything being done about the essex/midway?

Joke joke... but inverted spread coming in 0.5.1?

t5 captain skill for USN CV

No. It is the rendering range that is 11km. The rendering range is the hard cap on detection range as stuff outside the rendering is not rendered. So if another ship spots an enemy, it is just like when your ship can't see it, it will become that 'hollow' ship on the minimap.
  19. Unintentional_submarine

    What rank are you?

Tried it for a day. Did 8 battles, won 6, and gave up. The simple fact is that while I won a great deal, I found I was getting a lot more angry and annoyed (at the other players) than in regular battles. I don't play to get pissed off, and Ranked pisses me off it seems. Thus I think it is simply better for me to just back out and not do it. I can easily make do without it.

    Des Moines Gun Operation (video)

You know, this video, or rather the 3 inch part of it was used in my training on that very gun. Yup, I'm qualified on it. Well, I don't know if it still applies, might have 'run out' so to speak. Have fired it too and have a shell casing standing around in my guest room. The loading mechanism got updated some time later to a simpler system with two wheels instead of three, but maintained the rate of fire, and the guns fired in unison unlike in the video. Loading it was a breeze, but I suppose I would have gotten quite tired in the waist had it continue for minutes on end. Loading the feeder was done by more or less tilting over to the side that was to the rear of the gun, grab the round by the shell with the far hand, drag it out of the ready rack, grab the body of the cartridge, stand up and slam it home on two arms acting like a slide. With two guys, one of either side this was easily done fast enough, as long as the ammo was supplied fast enough. If we had been given the ammo by hand it would probably even have been downright comfortable. And I'm not even that old, 35 years. It was quite outdated by the time I trained on it, but it functioned really well, and it was surprisingly accurate too.

Still doesn't fix the anti-TB function the border has. But we all know what that would require... planes having an 'easier' way to leave the map (and while we are at it, still be minimap visible) and be able to attack across the border.
  22. The Jingles review probably hurt it a lot. He was not impressed. I know jack about WoT, but I know that Jingles does tend to impact people's decisions.

Can you somehow see Damage done to you by fire?

Basics of survivability reduces the fire duration by 9 seconds, which is 15% of 60 seconds.
  24. Unintentional_submarine

Has anyone ever had 2 double strikes in one round ?

Unsinkable? Yeah it is pretty rare, but I have actually seen it. I think a buddy of mine has it. Obviously you will not see it at the higher tiers due to the reduction on flooding damage.

t5 captain skill for USN CV

To expand on the other question if this is working as intended, I would rather ask "is it intended that this is not clearly visible in the port tabs?" I mean it certainly does make the air detectability a little silly for a very big portion of the ships in the game. So technically speaking we are informed wrongly. Now, I know that rendering, or vision, is limited on the ground as well. Lovely little Albany can't even see a lot of ships that shoot at her, even at T2. But with planes we don't really have those big and obvious white cones. This is a fairly important aspect that is not transparent at all. I have known about it for some time so have completely disregarded the air detectability for anything but destroyers and low tier cruisers as it is functionally the same all around. So, since the rendering can't happen at more than 11km, why does the stats say something higher? For ground detectability it makes sense, as someone can render that far, they are not all Albany (but planes are in a manner of speaking).
