    Hunt the Bismarck Badges

Got all mine now. Cashed my duplicates to finish the set. On mission 4. Quite nice and easy to complete so far without using Hood much.

Are you buying the HMS Hood?

    Don't give them ideas
  3. Admiral_noodle

Are you buying the HMS Hood?

Yes. Because of the following. - I loved the hood in play testing and really want her - she's a ship I always planned to buy from day 1 - I deliberately denuded myself of doubloons, camo, modules etc and avoided buying doubloons so that I knew I'd be in need of a package bundle as soon as Hood was announced - I don't have much time to grind out the campaign without Hood (I could do it I've worked out but why make it a chore?) - I have a large disposable income - I will spend a lot of time playing Hood - I don't intend to buy any more premiums in 2017 - I won't need doubloons again until next year These are my reasons. For these reasons I bought the Hood as the bundle meets my wants and I am satisfied at the total value of the package. Everyone should make their own judgement. Don't have money but have time? Want to complete the campaign? Work out the best "star earning" strategy and you can still complete the missions. Want hood but no bundle? Buy it later. No money and no time? Well. You're a bit stuck then.

    Hoods out!

Hahahaha well played WG once again. The ship will come out without bundle. But not in time for the event. But you can still do the event without Hood then get hood later. If you invest time. This is actually in line with "pay to rush" not pay to win. So I can't get all indignant about it. The bundle itself has lots of things I actually planed to need... because I had a suspicion this would happen. Still. It's cheeky, but I'm ok with it so long as the ship on its own comes out (which has been promised)

    Errant post.

D'oh. Didn't realise you could click on the eye. Thx

    ARP filter gone?

Did that. My arp ships disappear from port. Still see arp ships in game though. Any ideas?

    Rage quit anyone

I feel like rage quitting tonight trying to get a win in the Baltimore...

    Rage quit anyone

Which is why I started experimenting objectively. I don't have masses of data yet but the average game duration at tier 8 went down in my limited data set. There is a weekend effect. However it shouldn't negatively impact your WR unless: you are already well above 50% and your play style requires the game to be even enough at the start to have an impact over the entire game. To test this I would take say a different style of play in each class - let's say a Des Moines and a Henri. Play solo a lot at weekends and weekdays and then compare. My hypothesis is that in the hands of a good player the DM WR will be higher at weekends vs. Weekdays whereas the opposite might be true on Henri. Any takers for the challenge? I would need masses of games. I might set this task actually.

The best advice for weekends. Short version. Take versatile ships. Read the game better. Adapt accordingly

    Rage quit anyone

However for reasons I mentioned I find this not to be true for all ships - especially ones with an inflexible play style (or player for that matter). Weekends will tend to push you to 50% unless you can leverage your skill to "plug the gap" in your team. This is much easier in a well played dd or stealthy cruiser than in a long range HE spammer.

An even better solution is to division up with a good player playing your "opposite" play style. So if I'm going to go play a HE spamming cruiser I want a dd that knows what he's doing on my side!

Weekends simply make the game environment more "diverse". With a more random mix of player levels to find success you need to be adaptable - and be in a ship which is adaptable. Like yesterday in Amagi. On haven. Domination. Early on I realised our dd division - an akatsuki and ognevoi - were apparently allergic to capping, and our chapyev did not feel like using radar. So I used this. We lost all but one cap but the torpedoes from the flanking dds were useful in that I got a few broadsides to shoot at. Unable to cap I concentrated on doing damage. This paid off and we got a ship lead. Still the dds would not cap and chat started raging as we were well behind on points. No Matter. With the enemy fleeing and our dds chasing a CV (!) I capped. I often cap in BBs on weekends So we won that game. However the lesson I took from it was adapt to the game and don't try to get others to do things. Sure you can ask but if they don't do what you think they should, play the hand you are dealt to the best advantage. Don't do what some people do and suicide claiming "no one else was pushing". Well that may be true but why chase a forlorn hope? If you have no caps concentrate on sinking the enemy. Then get caps when it's clearer. This is why a versatile ship is more useful I feel. All this advice is applicable always - but at weekends as the average skill goes down you are more likely to find "unexpected" behaviour. So you need to pick up the slack and do what you're team aren't doing ---> which is why a versatile ship comes in handy.

I don't have the same effect but I do have an effect. My usual consistency gets blown out of the water at weekends, tho win/loss appears overall to do what it normally does. However when I split my ships into "high impact" and "low impact" then I see a correlation. WR goes up in high impact and down in low impact. Note that overall my WR gets pushed towards 50% in the low impact ships. It's as if I'm at the mercy of the teams with those. WR decreasing at weekends only makes sense if it's decreasing towards 50%. Meanwhile playing imperator at weekends is amazing - high impact ship - rather OP - enemies with overall less capability of mitigating her ----> silly scores and very high WR High impact being ships that can change a game in one action, low impact being "damage over time" ships. For me at least this appears to hold true since I started looking at the "problem". And the reasons make sense. Weekends are more likely to throw up unbalanced teams so being able to control the game early on through YOUR solo actions to me makes all the difference. So playing my Moskva for the first time on Saturday was probably ill advised

    German BB weekend

Dear WG. Please don't encourage more BBs. Especially German ones. Thank you

There is actually, but it has just as much chance of increasing your win rate as decreasing it. And there are strategies you can implement to take advantage of an environment relatively full of "weekend warriors". For a start the overall skill level decreases at weekends. As a decent player you can take advantage of this on the enemy team - but also have to suffer it on your own. On Saturday I had an awful day. 30% WR and dire teams. Sunday was much much better. However I learned something. Games at weekends can often be decided early on. Playing a ship that has low impact on the early game can be disastrous for you personally - either your team suicides before you can have an impact or the enemy team fails to turn up and you end up not doing much in a disappointing win. This was Saturday. I also found my own performance dropped because players were doing "odd things". I missed shots on a grounded tirpitz because he didn't bother to try to reverse off the island and I totally didn't expect a nurnberg to sit in the cap stationary broadside to me... Sunday - apart from playing more in a division - I chose more ships with high impact on the early game. This was much better. Conclusion: at weekends take advantage of lower skill levels by taking high impact ships that have large alpha. Avoid slow damage ships that get better as the game goes on. Adapt your play style accordingly and don't rely on logical play from your team or the opposition.
  17. Also saw LilJumpa on the enemy team
  18. Yeah. Flamu died but waxx in his Minotaur hunted me down. The one ship I don't want to see in khaba is a Minotaur. Tried to pick off his gearing buddy but he wouldn't die. Sadly the rest of our team couldn't cope and I knew the Zao at the end was not going to beat waxx 1v1. I suggested fleeing but never mind - it was a really fun game to be in. I didn't even notice Flamu until it was pointed out I also potatoes and didn't mount premium speed boost. That would have come in very handy. I was just disappointed to return to port to a message that I'd been called a mongo division or something like that. I know. I should just ignore it. People get salty etc. And it's part of the Flamu "thing". But its still not nice
  19. Met Waxx25 on the enemy team while me and my friends were playing our tier X dds. He was in division with Flamu and Runner357. Their division played well and Waxx carried well to win a tight game. We all complimented him (Turns out my div mate torped Flamu for a dev strike. Flamu then called us stream snipers and mongos. Which is nice For the record we didn't. Also got whined at for taking a 3 man dd division. Maybe this is naming and shaming, but a CCT shouldn't be able to just say that about me to his stream with no response ) Edit: meh. I'll get over it.

Wargaming, at least TRY to improve the playerbase

To OP. - as you become more skilled you do notice potatoes more. The playerbase isn't really any worse you just notice it more. And so do I. It's nice when an enemy makes a mistake and you profit, but overall I wold also prefer a better general standard. - tutorials and guides in the game please. Please!

    Win Rate

You could always like, do loads of damage, cap and survive in your BBs. It's what I do anyway
  23. Admiral_noodle

    Win Rate

This again? Win rate over a large sample size is a measure of your overall contribution to the team. However you need hundreds of games for WR to be significant. I can achieve 60% or so at tier 3/4 simply because I know what I'm doing and a lot of players don't. I can keep my team in the game for longer therefore win more. At higher tiers 55% is more my ability solo. So my WR is kind of on the slide simply because I'm playing more high tier. Which is a good thing. But over thousands of games you don't get a 45% WR without being bad and you don't get 55%+ without being good. Things like divisions do impact your WR (potentially both ways) but it's not true to say you can't affect your WR over a large number of games. You can. And you will. If you have a bad run (for me this is 50% WR over 60 games lately) but you are a decent player, then that bad run would likely have been even worse if you weren't good at the game. But don't obsess about it and certainly don't look at short periods/numbers of games as a measure of anything.

The only thing I didn't achieve was the 2500 base xp. Lots of 2000s but not quite enough.

    Should I grind past t7?

Play whatever ship and tier you want. It's your game But higher tier ships are worth it. Even tier 8 ships are good. I'm grinding Mogami right now and she's never too terrible. I also just got through New Orleans and found it great fun. In dds I loved Kiev and Tashkent and khaba is still great to play. FDG was a bit painful and I'm struggling a bit with Donskoi, but GK is a good ship to play and I believe Moskva will be worth it. I play all tiers 4-10. I think the trick is variety. Don't get bogged down in a grind, especially at high tiers. It's only when I know the next ship is a few games in sight I'll really start playing. Today for example I got my daily wins in Emile at tier V, had a GK game, got my win in Mogami, then played Donskoi till I won followed by a couple of scharnhorst games and a Duca. I find playing various ships and not concentrating too much on grinding more relaxing. The meta at high tier isn't bad either. Just different. Also I have a crazy spreadsheet with tasks
