Restrict multiple clan divisions in random and reporting system
Admiral_noodle replied to BIG6969's topic in General Discussion
I wish you'd stop picking on clans. I have real life friends I div up with and supertester / forumites I know. If I end up in battle on the same side of a div of people I know I will coordinate with them. In fact I'll coordinate with ANYONE on my team if they try to communicate. Rather than complaining about the enemy team having an advantage it might be an idea to try to coordinate more with randoms in your own team. -
After the hard mission last week which took multiple attempts to get 5 stars this one is much easier. Completed twice with 5 stars and a sea star award. Being in a division helps of course. I do like the approach so that you can win relatively easily but you need to win those stars. Very good for motivation. However this one is a bit easy.

XVM: I wouldn't use it as it would mess up my play trying to double think how a player might react. I can tell a good and a bad player pretty often and how good they are overall doesn't matter. It's how they play the situation they are currently in Therefore not particularly useful. As for losses. Get over it. I keep having bad games too. If I want to pad stats I'll go seal club in imperator. But where's the challenge. Carrying - or trying to - is more rewarding. P.S. If you have a problem with Leo's posting style then you have the problem not him

How many 19 points captains do you have?
Admiral_noodle replied to Leo_Apollo11's topic in General Discussion
I have one. My Bismarck-Scharnhorst-Tirpitz captain. And that's why. I have a few 18 point ones now though. -
balance domination and dd numbers
Admiral_noodle replied to Fluxiepower's topic in General Discussion
I don't think it's an advantage always. It depends what I'm sailing. I often enjoy being on the team with fewer dds. It also depends on what dds. My usual strategy is to analyse the team breakdown and act accordingly. If I'm in a dd I will request support if outnumbered. If I'm in a cruiser - especially a radar cruiser - I'll try to plonk myself where I can radar as much as possible. If I'm in a bb I'll prepare myself to be firing at dds and grumbling at the poor damage stats - then be pleasantly surprised (every time despite knowing this) when I end up with good xp. Overall any difference in team make up just means you have to adapt, which I like. Since I never expect my team to adapt (!) I usually expect to be the one having to do it. Communication also helps... -
I like the current one. Outnumbered trying desperate defence until your allies arrive. Nice theme. But I'm looking forward to the next one already.

Still. Don't underestimate the power of humans to fail to learn from experience. There are still many players trying their best to win and still failing. Some of them don't mind, which inhibits their learning. Some are convinced they were doing the right thing, which is even worse. Only a minority of players actually improve to the levels most people on the forum "expect". This is because forumites are overwhelmingly those motivated to learn and they also find the most resources. I tried to win all through CBT and the first 500 games after release. I was still bad with a 45% WR.

Well because the map edge should be obvious while islands can sometimes be missed under clutter on the minimap. We don't need a warning that you're getting close to the map edge. The minimap is quite clear on that.

You get a medal. I like medals. It's not like any of the rewards are real things anyway. Also the mode is more for people teaming up in 4+ man divisions. At least that's what it's appeal is to me. Playing with more friends as a team.

A manual would be nice. Even though all this can be found out on YouTube. In fact why not just suggest to players to go on YouTube to seek advice in game... links to CCTs or something. Until then try to forget the players are human and consider them all bots with dodgy AI. Play your game the best you can and be satisfied you did your bit.

Online ganging up, - your thoughts
Admiral_noodle replied to Excalibur1987's topic in General Discussion
If I see a known unicum in the enemy team I'll make sure my team are aware. If I see a fellow supertester in the enemy team I'll say high and try to get him sunk -
Probably should be off topic... But I am disappointed in the graphics of war thunder. And I'm. It too interested in sailing ships.

I think the thread has lost the plot somewhat and a definition of terms might be in order. There are 2 kinds of players. 1- people who try to win 2- people who don't. Then there are varying levels of skill. I will never complain about someone's skill or their stats if they fall into 1. These players will often listen in chat. Say affirmative. Try to play the game as a team. They often fail but they try. The players who fall into 2 are also varied. Some are skilled players who just farm. Others are people who literally don't care about tactics or being part of a team. These players annoy me. Stats aren't very good at differentiating 1 from 2. And a lot of the time people who rage in chat are actually 1s but are clueless. These 1s also annoy me. A lot of 1s also play for fun. You can do both. The ultimate is to play to win AND play for fun. Not OR.

Got the 5 stars on the sixth attempt. However in all the games I was playing in a div of 4 or 5. We often play as a group of friends and if there's more than 3 of us on we have a crack at the mission. Good fun. Fair rewards. After all this mode is for something different not for grinding. Certainly a success from my point of view. This mission is hard. That CV is borderline suicidal so rescuing it takes effort and often sacrifice. The best ships seem high dpm cruisers which is my only sadness.

Yeah I agree with OP. Some different death effects would be nice. It does annoy me how everything explodes.

Which forum members have you seen in random battles?
Admiral_noodle replied to Cobra6's topic in General Discussion
Well that's not fair 2 v 1 on the same ship But yeah. I was literally milimetres from the ram! -
I would like to see this stat included *aswell* as the others. Especially average position on a win vs average position on a loss. All three would be interesting statistics. Personally I think I'd probably average 4th, with a lower average position on a win than on a loss. ---> suggests defensive player. But I'd like to see it. I don't think any stat alone indicates "skill". In fact all stats do is tell you where you might be able to improve. If you want to get super nerdy (and I do) I'd like to see distribution curves by ship and overall of danage and xp. By wins and losses.
-
Yeah. I aim a bit higher and also ripple fire and avoid salvoes. Take into account turning cruisers. Banana salvoes working well.

"Not worth the cash" is entirely subjective anyway. - she's historical and I was always going to buy her - the bundle suited *me* - I have enough money to spend on the game. The ship itself is quirky but I love her. That speed is great, the AA is hilarious and she is tanky. Sure she shoots drunkenly but with adrenaline rush just keep shooting. You'll hit something eventually.

0.6.6 PT 0.6.6 Feedback - Operations - General Feedback
Admiral_noodle replied to Kandly's topic in Archive
For the coop missions I want to add a piece of feedback on one thing specifically. - 20 doubloons to waive the 30 minute wait time on using the same ship again. First let me say that this will barely affect me. I have ELEVEN tier 6 ships. It's not difficult to select a different ship. It also encourages playing different ships. However. 1- this is pay to play. A free to play game should *never* use this model. I don't actually object to the Hood bundle as it's "pay to rush" the campaign. But this is a mechanic which will prevent me playing what I want when I want (play it yor way) just for the sake of 20 doubloons - for an artificial 30 min delay included apparently just to milk the consumer. 2- it devalues premium. I can live with the 20 doubloons cost but ONLY if it is waived for premium users. Why should I pay for premium if you are going to force me to pay doubloons to play a ship I want when I want? Please at LEAST waive this for premium accounts. I have said my piece. Overall the new coop missions are greatly enjoyable. The 20 doubloons thing is hardly worth it and in my view will leave a bitter taste in the mouth of many users. Please reconsider -
Is the "Hunt for Bismark" doable ?
Admiral_noodle replied to anonym_XGuN6pHmfiJ9's topic in General Discussion
Without premium, hood etc the most efficient way to complete the mission tasks is to spam the xp task over and over for xp. It's not base xp and it gets you quite a lot of stars. So take a good medium-high tier ship, mount extra xp flags/camo and play that task until you have stars. Also take the base xp one. For the final task select a reasonable "in one battle" task so you don't lose anything swapping it out for the final task Then your best damage farmer for the final tasks. Repeat. Plan your tasks carefully each game you play to maximise progression. Note the tasks get harder so plan time accordingly. I have Hood and premium but I'm not really using the Hood tasks as "destroy two dds" might take some time and I prefer to not have tasks affect my gameplay. I'm on mission 5 now. -
My div mate often says "I am not in a destroyer" many times when starting a game in French cruisers. Otherwise he rushes forward and forgets he doesn't have smoke.
-
Hahahaha. I don't do this too much. Although I do have a habit of rushing forward in algerie and trying to smoke up... or looking for defensive fire on a battleship. Or trying to launch a scout plane in Hood...

I so hope Foch is coming to WoWs, we need CC's like him around!
Admiral_noodle replied to mtm78's topic in Off-Topic
Yes. But of an individual not supported by the management. I am satisfied with the statement and congratulate WG on putting it out there. With any luck this will be the solution to their own self induced crisis.- 217 replies

I am alarmed by the accusation of homophobic slurs by someone in WG. I've mostly just watched this whole thing with vague bafflement but accusing someone of homophobia is - well more than dodgy. 1- I can't see anything in the video which could be thought of as homophobic 2- the reference to the gun being "AIDS" is not homophobic. Tasteless sure, but no worse than "cancer". Which we see a lot of 3- I don't like "my community" being used as a defence when it's not justified. 4- I don't see WG tackling the use of actual homophobic slurs in game or in videos, so such a comment feels hypocritical Or is every use of a homophobic slur going to be investigated now?- 217 replies
