I think a better graph would be average tier. So add up all the ship tiers and divide by 24. At the moment although being top tier is rare in a tier V and even VI the balance has improved. Usually now on a tier V (in a tier VI game) the average is closer to 5.5 - yes they are tier VII games but they aren't dominating. My main gripe is that it's harder to get high caliber because the HP pool is bigger and you have less capability to do damage. And I like medals - although to farm that go play a tier IV BB this weekend. With so many DDs around the HP pool is lowered so HC is easier. There is an issue with HC... But that's a different topic. -
Is WG taking into account the "RealLifeTime (TM)" requirement to successfully fulfill the weekly "Boot Camp" mission?

I'm kind of ignoring boot camp and focussing on the rule the waves mission, which is much more achievable. The boot camp missions are OK for people willing to play that much, but I don't mind. I like they are in 3 stages as I can usually complete the first and get a mini reward. How is this different from ranked anyway?- 34 replies

On the Balance: How do the German BBs compare?

Stats wise... Low and mid tiers you can see how the player numbers are inflated. There are a lot of experienced BB players down there. At tier 5 you could include the arp Kongos and see if they are doing more damage than actual Kongo. Who actually plays Kawachi or Myogi for fun? Most of those players will be genuinely new. at high tiers these are the good players who have played so much they either have a bucket load of free XP or they have grinder their way already --> not casual players! WRs don't tell you much because the German BBs are generally facing each other. Overall it's too early to say if they are OP. My stats in the German BBs are better than my other BBs which I no longer play, but are in line with the stats on the BBs I do still play. I actually found Konig reliable but nothing special. I'm on Bayern now and she has a lot to live up to. New Mexico is my speciality and Bayern will have to go some to reach her 68k average damage. How the global average in New Mexico is a mere 35k in that ship is beyond me... -
So German BBs are not meant for long range combat ?

The player numbers are telling. German BBs are way more played than the others. If we assume new players are about equal in each nation, then that's a lot of experienced players still playing lower tier German BBs. I'm only on Konig now. So the dominant effect is still player experience. I would like to see if average damage on IJN and us BBs has gone up in the weeks post German BBs release though. -
As the population in each tier moves - especially with German BBs - the poor end of the stick also moves! I agree with T4. They don't struggle that badly with tier 6

Well it's not been to bad in my tier V Konig. Every game has been a "tier VII" game but usually only one or two tier VIs and VIIs and a whole bucket load of tier Vs. I don't mind matches like that. I don't like being only one of two tier Vs is a tier VII dominated match. So being "bottom tier" really depends on "how badly"

Yeah. The obvious issue is that if MM "averaged" the tiers of a division in some way it would be abused. Or if it said "oh a tier 4 and 5, I can't put tier 6s in" you've guaranteed top tier for the tier V in the division. Which isn't fair, etc. In fact if MM did take into account tiers within a division, everyone would fail division -

...I didn't say individuals agreed I said the majority view in the poll we had was that +/-1 tier spread in a division was an ok compromise. And that's what we got. -
Now we have the armour viewer I have more to work with. Ships are indeed like cakes. Hitting and penning guns and other external modules with AP doesn't always kill them and leads to 0 damage pens. I just need to get this written up and confirmed when I have the time.

There was indeed a survey. The majority view was +/-1 difference in a division was OK as equal tier only was too restrictive. So this is what was implemented. WG actually listened to the majority view. Ther will still be poole who don't like what is in the end a compromise, but that's life. -
Win a battle in top 3 position? I get frustrated if I'm not top 3! The hard part is the grinding of damage, but doable in the time

German BBs have the highest damage stats because the saturation of BBs means there is more damage on the table each game. -

Ok I'll bite. If I had to choose today is go Molotov. In Murmansk currently your rarely if ever top tier. Molotov has more utility thus will do more and make more. -
Is camping starting to poison lower tiers?

Well I don't see any more proper camping (avoiding damage and missing at the back while the team loses). In fact lately I've noticed fewer campers than usual if anything - to the point that individual campers really stand out. I've been playing at 7am though so the community might be different early morning. Certainly getting exciting and close games. -
I should hope we get the 1.2m credits. Doubloons would be nice but expect credits.

Suggestion against frustration: MM and the chances of being bottom and top tier.

I have suggested before that MM could be tweaked to stop you being bottom tier 3 times in a row. Just to ease frustration. Not sure how easy it would be to code. -

Of course it depends. A division of potatoes is no good. The only thing I would say is divisions ca win or lose you the game whatever you do. But that's obvious. -

Well I'm at Konig at tier V and she cannot into camping. So at tier V at least camping BBs aren't happening so much. -
Simulation or not cyclones done generally appear out of thin air. You would get a warning. Clouds building etc. I mean we have the shipping forecast and modern meteorology because of naval travel. Even by WW1 captains would have a weather forecast. Sure they might not know just how bad it would get but a warning within the timescale of a wows battle, even compressed time wise, is appropriate. I got used to spotting cyclones right from the match start though so the warning isn't required for me.

0.5.11 Cap circle border visual changes (3D and minimap)

+1 - I don't know what the problem was with the buoys. People should be able to read the minimap to see who owns the cap! But if we must have a visual representation on the main view, then the buoys were much better than the "ugly circles". Maybe make it an option in settings? -
Apparently I was a Unicum in Myogi but had a 27% WR. Remenber WR is only relevant over a large sample. It's not even very relevant over 100 games. Only when you look at multiple 100s does it say something more certain. And yet knowing this if I play 10 games and win 2 I still feel "dirty" somehow and WR paranoia still makes me play less than i would like. Even when I win three in a row I stop in case my "daily stats get worse" ...I need help.

Search their content for cruiser replays. See how they play and what they do. All of them explain what and why they are doing what they are doing.
