Why have the RN cruiser posts been deleted/Moved

To be fair WG are pretty easy going regarding the forum rules. Plenty of off topic posts are left in and posts about ships don't get immediately moved to guides --- where they actually belong. Feedback is good. WG do actually read feedback as well. However a lot of removed posts are posts which complain but don't actually provide any *feedback* X ship is a pile of trash isn't feedback. Nor is it helpful. Neither is X ship is Great. If you're going to have an opinion and post about it i would suggest adding context and reasons. Explain why something is bad. Is it underpowered? Why? Examples. Is it balanced but no fun to play? Why is it no fun? This is much more useful and better for discussions. RNCL topics were getting spammed on the forum (understandably) so tidying them up makes sense. Multiple threads and lots of contentless posts decreases "signal to noise" ratio. Tidying them up and keeping the useful feedback is better for everyone.

HMS Belfast is in the shop!

I decided not to buy the Belfast to punish WG for making Danae and Emerald so hard to play... For 5 minutes Of course I was going to buy her! I was on her in June. Sat through all the content and loved every minute. Worth a visit!

    Guide: British Cruisers

I think the mixed emotions going round exactly mirror my experiences with these ships. Now I've done it once I'll be interested to see if my thoughts and feelings change now I'm grinding then for real. So far yes. What I'm seeing is some players really struggling with how to play the ships. Others seem to naturally take to them. Hilariously the boot camp mission is "sink 25 cruisers in a BB". Serious lul But playing a battleship this morning I had the choice of three British cruisers to delete on strait with my imperator. (Don't blame me. Boot camp mission!) Two of said cruisers sailed predictably. So I deleted them. The third never stopped randomly turning. That was deeply annoying and I didn't manage to kill him in open water. The low tier RNCL are very agile and this method of sailing - basically sail drunk - does pay off. So I deleted a Kuma instead. Moral of story: to have any hope of avoiding being deleted at low tier, sail drunk.

Yes... and no. Depends where you and the dd are. If a lone ijn dd has decided to do that flanking thing you can go chase him down. He's unlikely to be able to torp you. The RN ships have good rudder. And close up it doesn't take long for most of the line to melt a dd. At longer ranges I tend to pick my targets. Russian cruisers if you can lead make excellent targets. They don't turn so much. German bbs are poor targets as you don't do much damage. German cruisers take a lot of damage but ijn Ines I can't hit with anything let alone RNCLs. The most ridiculous thing I've seen is a Gearing who decided to try to gun my Minotaur down. He melted in seconds to the point where I was still shooting ha wreck because I hadn't realised he'd died. On the other hand a Khaba at range is not to be messed with.

    Grinding for the King

Caledon I've forgiven already. When she's top tier she's a good tier 3. Love that agility. So she can't risk being in the open vs. Bbs. Doesn't happen a lot and they aren't very accurate. I might keep her. I can beat st Louis players if they aren't on the ball and she's quite versatile. She seems quite accurate too. the Danae will come soon. My nemesis.

    British AP Issue

Well I had my first excursion on live. First game in Weymouth. 40k danage confederate. Came top. Ship done. Against Weymouth Weymouth good Second game Caledon. 35k damage with guns. Barely bothered with torps. All cruiser game and all but two RN. 4K salvoes against "angled" Weymouths and a Bogatyr. That ship was just for damage farming. Slow, easy to dodge shells. Easy to hit. Lots of places to pen. Almost done wit Caledon too. Now in such an environment Caledon is great. Fast agile and good enough guns and lots of torps. She'll be eaten by BBs but since she'll be in tier 2-3 games sometimes she's fairly fun. Soon I'll be at Danae. And the furious angry will come back I'm sure.

    Grinding for the King

I had games in Fiji and Neptune where my potential damage was off the chart. Dodging and kiting the entire enemy fleet while laughing maniacally. I found Fiji could even wreck bayerns of all ships.
  8. Admiral_noodle

    The RN is coming tomorrow!

Depends if you click with them. I rated Edinburgh my favourite tier 8 cruiser. Fiji is good. I found Neptune fun. And I don't care if Minotaur is good or bad. Having a machine gun is fun.

    Grinding for the King

I think I'll grind them sooner rather than later while there are a load of inexperienced RN players on. And use my ST experience for evil I want Fiji and Edinburgh in my port so much.

BRAVO WG (A British cruisers topic).

It is true. They are all actually playable but from tier 7 they are good. I exceeded my normal expected stats with all ships tier 7 and up. But, I'm not exactly a noob at the game. I did reasonably ok with the lower tiers in test but we all agree the line in general is not noob friendly. At all. At tier 7 and up that doesn't really matter. Nothing is noob friendly at high tier cruiser wise. But "fun pew pew" at tiers 4 and 5 isn't a thing with the RNCL.

    British AP Issue

Objectively they aren't crap. Which is what does my head in over the low and mid tier ships. I say objectively because my stats are in line or better than my other cruisers with these ships. But I absolutely hated the tier 4. The tier 5 felt weak and yet I did ok to good with them. Much confusion. I made them work but I didn't enjoy them. Leander was relatively painless, though in tier 8 games there was a lot of not doing much and waiting to pick fights. From Fiji on I had a lot of fun. Edinburgh was a revelation. Everything I wanted from hipper and didn't get. I'd take Edinburgh over hipper any day if the week. But it comes down to how you play them. If you don't have fun in them what's the point? (This is why my Iowa sits there rusting) My worry for the line is that only a few... strange individuals... will love the tier 4-6, while normal people (!) will consider them rubbish to play (i.e. No fun) and after a while we won't see many in game. Which is sad.

    RN Cruisers...

But you're almost past the worst. If you can get to Leander she is "alright". When you get Fiji it's like yay I can damage things! Then you get aggressive and die. Then relearn to pick your fights and do well. By the time I got to Edinburgh I was wrecking stuff. In test Edinburgh quickly joined my "100k club"

    Guide: British Cruisers

Biased not bigoted but yeah the line is half good half very hard. So arguments will happen. It is good that Edinburgh and Minotaur are good ships. The tier 8 will get a lot of play in teams and ranked. The tier x of course is the end game.

This. X1000 Part of the problem though. As I said elsewhere. I can make them work. I can find success. But I can't play lazy. If I want a game where I can chat and listen to music while playing. I'll play a German BB. These I cannot afford to make a mistake. Not once. It gets more forgiving at higher tiers with more HP and better heal. Plus you know what you're doing by then. In fact RNCL are Luke high tier gameplay at all tiers They are excellent dd hunters. Comically so at high tier. Gearings will last about two good salvoes. RUDDs are harder because they stay back and are fast. However we all know RUDD are light cruisers. Now I say it's a problem because there are a lot of RN fans who want to play RN. But they aren't all skilled to be able to do it. I would like to have seen someone else take the "unique hit but then I wonder... who else? This way I suppose you need to be good to be British.

BRAVO WG (A British cruisers topic).

Like I said elsewhere these ships have given me the full range of emotions. Including rage, despair... but. I honestly believe this is fixable as is. Repair was a good addition and in theme of RN. Half the line is fun. Please fix the other half. It can be done I know But to do that the poorness of the tier 4/5 particularly needs proving in stats. In the meantime just try to get to tier 6 as soon as. And yes the whining should stop really because ships change! This is a first release of RNCL. Let's look at their stats in a week or so.

BRAVO WG (A British cruisers topic).

Sorry we can't be fired we aren't even employed so And as we aren't employed our job is to test the ships and feedback. Not to instruct or in anyway be part of a go/no-go decision. We advise. We do not decide. Also no other line has ever been publicly tested first (remember the whinge when DE bbs weren't on PT?)
  17. Admiral_noodle

    British AP Issue

You would guess wrong. There was plenty of testing and plenty of feedback. AP will damage angled ships if you aim higher. You can't afford to hit the sides of the ships. Takes some learning. I agree at mid tier the combo of arc, RoF and dispersion is frustrating. That has also been fed back. At the same time however my average damage in the tier 1,2,3,6,7,8 is in line or better than my other cruisers. 4/5 I found week. Everyone did. You should consider torps an equal weapon until tier 7
  18. Admiral_noodle

    RN Cruisers...

right. Well I don't believe this in the slightest but never mind. You know there were several reworks of the line right? You know that means lots of work and rework for the devs?extra hours etc? No puts that much effort into trolling. Anyway here is my own personal fun rating for every tech tree cruiser I've played or tested. I believe it shows my issue with the Royal Navy ships. The whole line isn't bad. But that's a big ugly mid tier no fun zone...

    RN Cruisers...

Clearly this has nothing to do with world politics and nationalism. If the thread is going that way (started by the brits as well) then that's the end of the thread.

    Guide: British Cruisers

So I will add my super test notes I made to this thread later about "how to" with these ships. Especially that AP which you can probably get more out of than you're getting when you start playing it. The ultimate "how to" RNCL of course would be to free xp the tier 4 and 5
  22. Admiral_noodle

    RN Cruisers...

Seriously don't take it personally. It's a ball drop at mid tier in my opinion. No one in WG is deliberately trolling RN fans or British people... they just aren't Best we can do is go out, wreck every mid tier RNCL we see. Ruin their stats and show WG that attention is required
  23. Admiral_noodle

    RN Cruisers...

FYI new lines are never tested on PT prior to release.
  24. Admiral_noodle

    RN Cruisers...

There is no evidence. Unless you're paranoid. It's an ongoing experiment. Which half worked IMO. Sadly it didn't low-mid tier hence overwhelming dissatisfaction with the line so far. I would like to see people. Especially the brits stop thinking it's a conspiracy and whining because the Royal Navy is special (it is. But actually RN ships were rarely the best in terms of armour) - and saying "it's not fair WG hate us". They don't. They wanted a CL line because they want to add something different. We need to feedback on whether different is good if it's fun. If it's OP or UP, but the WG anti British theories should stop. Especially from the brits. /rant
  25. Admiral_noodle

    RN Cruisers...

No that's unfair. The Danae is a steaming turd. Emerald and caledon are just weak. Leander is passable. The rest are GOOD. Well that's my opinion. No need to go overboard and accuse WG of being anti British. Of course they aren't. WG want all lines to be fun in their own way. And for the higher tiers - not bad... But tiers 3-6 are a horrible dead spot with "okish" ends. That for me is the problem with the line. And one I think needs addressing with dispersion/arc/RoF changes to make the dpm better and shooting more fun and less of a frustrating rage inducing pointless left clicking (Danae and emerald especially. But at least emerald can hide). Calling a spade a spade there are 3 ships which need rework to make them fun. Caledon Danae and emerald. Leander is probably ok. If it was me I'd just fix those insane arcs and you'd actually be able to hit things. But there's no need to start the WG conspiracy "they hate us" crap. Simply not true.
