    Sad thing though is a lot of players appear to be quitting the line tier 4/5. So I've not seen many British vessels. I find this sad anyway.

    Do you mean between each game rather than between the two teams in the same game? Because I think the use of "between" may have been misunderstood

    Actually yes. My Murmansk had not been having so much fun lately. However at least I can fit DE to it and farm some fire damage. And yes I know it's actually an illusion. That fire damage can be healed and generally isn't as useful as RNCL damage. XP doesn't care though does it maybe light moderate and heavy damage needs separating and rewarding differently. For different classes. Maybe fire damage should get less xp. Oh and at least in Murmansk I can reliable finish off low health targets with HE... oh no. RNG says module destroyed and no damage. (!) But with HE and fires you feel more useful. And perception is everything.

    So in terms of dds in smoke. - they would be harder to counter because you wouldn't see the ship. Bear in mind they would still be detected and you'd see the icon and be able to "lock on" to them. Only the ship itself wouldn't be rendered. - being in smoke would be much harder to use but again you'd still see the icons and be able to lock on to targets. But like firing over islands you'd have to judge where they are. The point about "this makes smoke harder to use as an offensive weapon". Yes. Yes it does. That was the point. Making smoke more historic as "cover" for retreats and less about mechanics which only exist in the game itself. As for "it would completely upset the balance". Yes. Yes it would. I don't deny that but this is how I world *prefer* smokescreens to work in general. As an escape mechanism. But the idea itself is very easy I think. It wouldn't be hard to do technically because it doesn't change the underlying game mechanics. But I feel it would change the gameplay. For the better? Don't know. But smoke would feel more real to me.

    Flawed reasoning. You don't need anything like 12 good vs. 12 bad to get a one sided game. Just one or two bad players can cause a cascade which leads to a steamroller. But I think that was your point sorry

    Is the Belfast REALLY overpowered?

    There is a bug I have replicated if you are decelerating from exactly 28kts. The second puff doesn't deploy at all. No idea why. Is Belfast OP? At the moment yes and in divisions even more so. However when people cotton on to firing at the small smoke circle I think she will be less OP. And more dead.

    I would agree that the tier 7+ are strong and fun to play especially as you have more guns and RoF making the tier 3-6 problems go away. You can fire at angled anything and do ok damage. The problem is 3-6. 3 and 6 are tolerable bookends. 4 and 5 are a chore to play. Not fun. I can make them work. I don't want to. Not do the vast majority of the EU server it seems. 10 games tonight mostly testing Perth before you all cry foul I only played 2... all mid tier. One RNCL sighted. One. And the AP problem isn't that HE 6" spam does more damage. It does not. In fact it does next to nothing vs. Armoured bbs. But all you're playing for is the glorious chance of fires. With the RNCL there is no chance. You get whatever damage you get. In Fiji and above that's ok. A few thousand against angled targets will add up. A few hundred damage at best with the lower tiers will not. Tier 4/5 need something, and pretty quick. Or no one will ever play the tier 7+ anyway.

    ....anyway, the key thing is if people don't like them they won't play them... which would be 1) sad and 2) might lead to a rethink. So if you don't like them don't play them. If no one plays them well, pointless content is pointless and something will change. Two tier 5-7 games in a row and I've yet to see a RN cruiser (apart from Belfast)... I personally think the tier 4 and 5 are putting people off playing the line. RNCL *might* be extremely rare

    +1. Scavenger gameplay. Can get very good results but not on your own terms. That's how the line plays. A lot of people don't like it. And a lot of people want to play Royal Navy ships. I'll probably like the scavenger roll as I learn it, because I am a large troll. But it's not fun for everyone and therefore (this is the explanation Dropsiq!) as it's a popular nation --> lots of disappointed players. Whereas I find IJN frustrating - quit them after CBT because of turret traverse. RUCA are pretty easy to play and this is why some are upset that a "less popular" line is the more comfortable to play for many. ...still think Danae and Emerald are too weak. Edit: even if Tuccy can get lucky once :p

    To be honest the AP as special AP does as much as HE just without fire chance. (Obvious question. Why not give them HE with no fire chance!!!) and it's not the AP only that I think fails the vision. It's the idea that cruisers that are fragile will be aggressive then use smoke to cover their retreat. And I think that was the rationale. So they created smoke cruisers that were fragile and everyone kemped smoke and burned everything. Predictably. But the swap to AP only treated the symptom not the cause. That smoke isn't used defensively and dynamically. It's used to camp in and troll people... That's laughable the way smoke works now. In my view smoke is not working as intended nor is it working like "reality" Smoke should be opaque. This is something I might suggest to you guys and get proper thought about my smoke idea.

    So the game play is hard because of the above. You're always a second from death. So you have to time things, use cover, know whose looking at who. Know where everyone is. So it's much multitasking. You can do well. Is it fun? Well. That's up to you.

    No I think you missed my point. I think the *idea* was a line of CL which could be aggressive and fragile and flee with smoke. That was the aim. But the aim missed.

    Only my own experience. Maybe I'll do a compilation of dd kills mostly because HE can be just as unreliable as AP vs dds. I agree about getting nuked *while* hunting dds...

    Of course WG removed old standard mode where it was easier to stage an epic comeback because people don't like draws. So now we have points which lead to snowball games more often than not. Even in epicentre the caps are less important than getting the ship advantage. It shows though I think people are now a little too focussed on caps and not thinking about ship advantage

    The salt is still out of proportion to the problem. I actually liked the jingles video (guys it was dumbed down vs. What you might get here). Watching the actual emerald gameplay in the video pointed to the fact that I keep defaulting to "normal cruiser play" when under pressure in RNCL. I must stop doing that. It's hard to unlearn it though. I've not unlocked Danae and emerald yet. When I do I'm going to give it another go. I still think those two are weak and/or have a "too high" skill cap. But maybe I need to learn to torpedo better. I really am bad at that. Oh and as for dd killers - I've personally found the RNCL AP better than HE at killing dds. I think it's because I'm used to firing AP at dds with the best dd killer in the game. New Mexico. The heal makes RNCL able to have a fight with a dd, win and then heal some damage as well. RNCL are best at ijn killing then us dd killing. But not great vs the Russian ones.

    From my perspective the idea was supposed to be a class of agile light dd hunters which could rush in to torp dds and then flee behind a smokescreen. Trouble is smoke doesn't work like that. I would personally just make smoke opaque instead of see through. Sure you'll detect enemy ships behind one but you'll just see the icon. And if you're in the smokescreen you'll see a lot of smoke and ship icons but then firing from smoke would require skill. But that's just me.

    And you'd have a pretty fun cruiser line which still required skill. Yes I like those ideas. Obviously. Heal and citadel problems I don't mind. Can leave that but: - give Danae and probably Caledon smoke. Certainly Danae is just a suicide machine - fix the guns. Either give he with no fire or small fire chance and/or fix the arcs and accuracy.

    In many ways this is IT in the 21st century. It's called "fail fast". Put something out there and see if it works. If it doesn't, fix it later. This obviously has the benefit of getting good stuff out to market quickly but if there are problems the company gets bad PR. Nice to know most people think this can be fixed. And really it can I think. Totally get the frustration factor. But at least: - it wasn't a patch which stopped the game working - it's not affected existing content - it's not all broken - problems can be fixed later - it doesn't catch fire and burn your house down.

    And yet MM has absolutely nothing to do with one sided matches. Nothing. 100% the players since MM improvements on ship balancing. I don't mind people criticising WG for things they do badly (sub optimal comms, rushing the RNCL line out after hasty changes and good ideas badly executed sometimes) but bashing them for something they explicitly don't do is just annoying. It weakens the genuine criticisms.

    I would skip Emerald if you can't skip both. Reasoning: -Danae has no smoke but it's tier IV. Preferential MM and sometimes you'll be in ok tier 3-4 games -Shorter grind -Emerald has smoke but gets uptiered all the time -Free xp the "end" of the pain. At least you are free xp-big to finish it not to avoid the start.
