What if RN cruisers suddenly became very popular?
Admiral_noodle replied to Admiral_H_Nelson's topic in Cruisers
Well actually I've found when there are British cruisers in play the teams get closer together. At least tier 6-7 - RNCL need to get close to do damage and torp and they can because of smoke - everyone else wants to get close to destroy the squishy cruisers. Especially gneisenau and Bismarck who like to get close anyway. So actually they seem to create closer and bloodier battles. Which is good. -
What going on with the Gneisenau ?
Admiral_noodle replied to DinkyToy_AW's topic in General Discussion
She's infuriating at times. Especially when your team decides to dither around at the back. Sometimes I just sail forward and take them all on. Full secondaries build and torpedoes so I'll probably do 70k damage before dying. Note I only YOLO if my team point blank refuse to engage the enemy and we are losing. I also find depressing wins if we win too fast. Gneisenau needs time to get some shots to hit. -
Yes. They would still be able to lock on to targets and aim at them. I'm just talking about the rendering of the ship model through smoke. - full extreme example would be no rendering of ships through a smokescreen - but if that won't work gameplay wise I'd at least like "misty ships" when you're looking through smoke and zoom in. Rather than magically vanishing smoke.
-
Well if nothing else I'd like to see smoke rendered more when you zoom in. It irritates me that it magically disappears.

Did the Dunkerque get nerfed in 0.5.13?
Admiral_noodle replied to Gulyabani's topic in General Discussion
...I do hope no one at WG has "fixed" something to do with dispersion on battleships and just haven't put it in the patch notes..., Nothing has been changed to Dunk (or Gneisenau) but if there is an abnormally high number of BB dispersion complaints I will get suspicious. I remember 0.5.4. -
I realise that. But the balance should be inherent to the mode so that the outnumbered side basically has easier win conditions. Allowing the side with the numbers to potate equally.
-
Why not. Although the value in doubloons would need to be more than the relative cost in the package. Personally I wouldn't buy something I can't play with. So unless the flag does something... I only play to rush and for premiums. Too many to play now! And it's not lazy or malicious. It's marketing. (Not sure if that's even worse

Though my occurred today. If you angle against a RNCL you reduce his damage. This has been a complaint. But wait. This means the skills of your opponent have mitigated his damage... like WASD hacks for torpedoes. Isn't that... how it's supposed to be? So... I submit that it's not RNCL AP which is broken, but the skill-less HE!

Had one game in her today and had the same problem. Overpens and ridiculous dispersion... But she's always Iike that. -
Well in Pvp mode you have potatoes on both sides and it would be balanced differently so that on average both sides win just as much. This mode has fixed AI on one side. Which seems to win more often than not. Which is interesting.

1 sided matches from last 2 patches.
Admiral_noodle replied to Holaadian's topic in General Discussion
Apart from balancing ship tiers and ships as specified by patch notes MM is entirely random. We need a "how MM works" thread. -
Scratch the coop idea. Why not escort mode in random with one team as attacker and one as defender. It could be balanced properly with unequal sides and/or different classes for escort and attack *digs out his victory at sea scenario book* We would have to public test such a mode to death to make sure attack and defend have an equal win chance. But it would be fun.

Actually it's if the players on your team decide to lose you will lose. And the problem with stats based MM is also a random gathering of unicums does not actually imply a good *team* -

WG have said it's not implemented. Also the patent was general. It might work in WoT but WoWs it would probably cause queuing issues except at peak times. Evidence: I did actually record my wins and losses by session and overall and recorded tiers in each game. Had to as part of testing. As I was interested I ran a correlation function on the data and found no correlation between wins or losses in a row and whether I was top tier. Sadly. -
Good mode. Rather hard. A little bit simplistic. However the idea is nice. Makes me think. Scenarios in coop please? Then maybe in random? Escort mission interesting.

The problem is that first sentence. People are giving up at emerald because she is so bad and so is Danae. Whereas tier 6 and above are playable and even good. The tier 6 is nowhere near as ridiculously squishy as the 4&5. Yes show a broadside and sometimes bow in you can be nuked, but I've found Leander can actually bounce some shots.

Game is boring below tier 5...at least for me...isn´t it a problem for WG?
Admiral_noodle replied to Kamikazesushi's topic in General Discussion
Playing yesterday camping at tier 7 just wasn't a thing. Every game got close and brutal. It was brilliant I don't quite know what's going on -
Is the Belfast REALLY overpowered?
Admiral_noodle replied to Drunken_Jedi's topic in General Discussion
I think the one thing that prevents this ship being OP is the lack of torps. You can rush her in her smoke with a battleship and she has no answer. Of course she does to gneisenau. RNG. But other BBs can just charge her. -
Yes but it shouldn't do that. And as for slowing down - yes you need to. But I've only replicated the bug at 28kts. I'll try at half speed too.
-
I got 72k damage and came top of a tier 8 game. Leander isn't bad. I also played her right. The failure to kill the DD is understandable and I was dead anyway. It's just frustrating. It's about learned perceptions. Immediately after the game I felt cheated that I didn't win that encounter because I'm too busy thinking what my other cruisers could have done. On reflection... - my other cruisers wouldn't have taken half his health in one salvo to start with. - only Leander could have done that torp run on New Mexico - I could have. Should have rammed the dd!

The problem with wanting to avoid potatoes in game is you'd need to have tier based MM. So good players never meet potatoes. Problems... - MM wait times. - stats become meaningless over time. Good players stats drop because fewer potatoes to farm. Bad players "improve" - now you can't really tell a potato from a good player so how do you split them? - potatoes rank up to "just good enough" - good players complain about potatoes - we are back where we started. Or you could fix it so potatoes can never get into high tiers no matter what. Well that's bad. Best potato is seal clubber. Worst good player is now effective potato. Much rage still exists. -
Not having consistent keys is annoying. This has been mentioned s few times. Also there is a bug or "feature" that when smoke says it's available pressing the button does nothing for like 2 seconds.

Sometimes I take bogatyr out when I just want to shoot the thing with the thing. -
Right. I've played even more now Tier 4 and 5 are still garbage. Leander can actually survive longer. She will take a lot of pens from everything but has heal. But the single most annoying thing is the AP only. Was having a good game (personally. My team were suiciding and it was pretty much just me left) I'd joyously torpedoed a New Mexico coming through the middle on two brothers utilising that trollish single torp spread and then went after a Farragut. Took half his health in one salvo. But he didn't try to panic torp. He simply slowed, pointed at me and kept firing. At point blank range. A few bounces later and I'm dead. Of course my torpedoes were destroyed so I had no options. 72k damage. Top of the team in brutal tier 8 MM. And I come away from the game thinking Leander is useless... ^^this is the frustration. You can have a good game (I did really) and come away frustrated because there was nothing I could do in that situation apart from fruitlessly bounce shells and miss. Also I feel bad for not complimenting the Farragut. He played the situation perfectly.

Um no I was approaching this from the point of view of making smoke feel more realistic actually. Guess you missed the point about invisifiring also being more difficult because you can't see through smoke? Actually interesting that some people are saying the idea is a nerf to smoke and bbs would profit and others say no, this would make smoke too powerful
