The problem that is the ARP Nachi mission: aka "the omg its a Russian ship, kill it" mission
Admiral_noodle replied to Fiery_Kathy's topic in General Discussion
Considering the same. Planned to Chapyev. Don't fancy it now. Might grind my New Orleans as people might not bother shoots by me -
The kill x of each nation is wrong in my opinion. And I won't be playing my Russian ships until 2017 if this is on. I was going to play Chapyev but I don't fancy being focussed by people looking for kills.
-
If you deploy smoke at <18kts you should be fine. But smoke appearing behind stationary ship is a new one on me... needs investigating.
-
...then you won't get the ships. But since they are high tier cruisers anyway do you care? Personally I think "cruisers always get deleted by bbs" is complete bs. Generally this isn't true. And getting up tiered in tier 8 is painful. But now is the time to play them with so many doing the missions.

Super Container Loot Thread [ topics merged ]
Admiral_noodle replied to ThePurpleSmurf's topic in General Discussion
Hey those flags are great! I certainly don't want to EARN them... -
Yeah pretty much this. I have gneisenau and Bismarck grinding to do so that's convenient - I'm planning what ships to play to synergies with the missions. I have three tier 8 cruisers to grind now so it seems like a good time!

DEv/moderators - Dont lisen most of the stuff please...
Admiral_noodle replied to Crusherheads's topic in General Discussion
Ah but that means they've actually already played... -
Of course. Although devs do actually read these threads and are aware that some people want ARP content more hidden. However I think it would be better to have a hide mission button because then it could be applied to any future collaboration. And each collaboration would have its own port and own mission key. "Hide missions of this type" would work. I just think it's unecessary and people are for too touchy.
-
I don't know how hard it would be. Having a simple *hide mission* button is probably the easiest. But the fact people can't deal with seeing the ARP characters on screen is... somewhat concerning because I think it means they think anime is consumed by dirty men who are getting their rocks off... which I don't like. This is backed up when people say things like "I have a family I don't want this content". Like it's somehow "unwholesome". And the "having it shoved down our throats" comments further up touched a nerve in me. Bound to. I would like to not have to see Steven seagals face on the mission screen but I'm not going to start a forum complaint thread about it.

Yes. So what was your point? That it's annoying? Of course! RNG giveth and taketh away. But it's designed like that for good reasons. And it is random no matter how much your brain tries to tell you otherwise.
-
This escalated. Why does arp escalate so much? If these were other cartoon boats (idk, transformers maybe) there wouldn't be this much anger. Firstly.... WG have a good compromise. Don't use Yoko poet and you can just ignore missions relating to ARP. They won't hurt you... For me the question is why a lot of people find the anime disturbing. I would suggest it's because they have some kind of "stimulation" are appalled by it, assume anyone else who likes ARP must be getting some extra "gratification" and are therefore hostile... - my pet theory. In general the extra work involved in "opt outs" to hide all trace of ARP from a possibly easily offended few isn't justified by any gain for WG. Really... you can just ignore the ARP missions!
-
Of course I can see the point. I know RNG is frustrating. It's particularly annoying when someone deserves to get punished and they get away with it. But it's an important part of the game. Like managing risk and dealing with frustration... Unless you have a different point? I like the way shells armour and RNG is modelled into the game. It makes it more real to me. And that's why I want to keep playing. For the immersion. Sometimes you get overpens. Deal with it.

DEv/moderators - Dont lisen most of the stuff please...
Admiral_noodle replied to Crusherheads's topic in General Discussion
Yeah but I meant the change from tier 9 to tier 8 participation now means players have the option of buying a tier 8 to get Takao. Whereas before at tier 9 it was open to people who had got to tier 9 through playing. How convenient -
Because the game has RNG in it to represent real life naval shot. Which I like. If you want a regular point click shooter go play one.

Admiral_noodle replied to Crusherheads's topic in General Discussion
Of course tier 8 does mean anyone can take part. Just spend some money... -
There would be one sided matches with the best skill based MM in the world. All skill based MM would then do is result in everyone having a 50% WR. So why try hard? If you are a potato the better players will carry you. At least now your skill somewhat determines how many wins you get.

It's good that premium ships are somewhow unique and different. And she is balanced. And she was fun to play. At least in my opinion. -

Well. The problem with lowering to tier 8 is now instead of dusting off the Iowa I can go spam tirpitz games. And so will everyone else. So high tier will be awash with tier 8, and tier 6s will be up tiered a lot more often. Which is why I wanted the requirents to remain tier 9 (or something else entirely) Oh well. -

I liked it. You can move - yeah not fast - in your smoke. This allows you to reposition and end your smoke in a moving away position. Plus enemies don't know about the Perth smoke yet so fire behind you when blind firing in smoke. Also the scout plane plus smoke. Who needs a spotter when you have a plane. the scout is also very useful at extending her range. I found her as fun as Leander and more interesting than day Cleveland. Only reason not to get her for me is she doesn't train a captain for an existing nation. Molotov is "better" but Perth - with her special smoke, scout plane and single launch torps - rewards players who can think outside the box to maximise her potential. Basically for devious people. And you can use the smoke to good effect. Just not the way Flamu wants to. -
Ranked battles: Wargaming this is how you will lose me and others as a player&customer
Admiral_noodle replied to zriha's topic in Archive
Ranked is fine. I don't enjoy the frustration and the grind though. So I haven't played it this season. I much prefer team battles and looking forward to clans. I'd like to see a mode where you can have 5 man divisions though. Saying ranked is WGs fault and going to lose people grime the game is just silly. You don't have to play it. It's an optional extra. The rules are there for all to see. We all know a lot of people are potatoes. So it doesn't take a genius to work out there might be some frustration in ranked I like missions. I don't like the process of losing a star and going down ranks. It makes me feel like the last X games were a waste of my time. Prefer to play those missions where you can achieve even a little progress from a horrid game. -

Suggestion (not a whine): Add a warning to British cruisers
Admiral_noodle replied to Artech52's topic in General Discussion
Linked "how to" videos with a kind of rating system would be nice. Probably not a priority for WG but game guides and such in game in general would be nice I mean it took me ages to find YouTube content (but daft of me really, given I use it for everything else) and understanding the game mechanics took more than the whole of CBT. Then again I was a happy scrub who just happily potated then. (See my CBT stats!) -
My internet went down for two days (well in the evenings when I wanted to play) but I didn't get compensation from my isp. Losing a ship in battle for a couple of days seems mild in comparison. I can see they've been having issues today with login not working for a while, but generally the up time and performance of wows has always seemed rather good overall. I don't know how you get a ship stuck though. I can see how that would be annoying if it's your primary ship!

I'm enjoying Leander now. She is a stealth assassin. The AP seems to work wonders as well. Still best played in a division, although with all the missions on that's true generally at the moment.
