face it, t8+ battleships need nerfs.
Admiral_noodle replied to Kutfroat's topic in General Discussion
I disagree with the premise that any class as a whole is OP. I have played 690 games in cruisers. 691 in BBs. I have a 60% WR and 62% WR respectively in them. If BBs were OP then wouldn't I have a much better WR in them vs. Cruisers? Meanwhile I have the imperator. Which is OP. And a 78% WR. So I would go back to - if a class is OP then players who are good will get better WRs in them. Overall the class won't have a higher WR because potatoes will lose hard in ships which are OP by relatively not pulling their weight. But looking at good players they don't carry in BBs any more than in any other class. So no, BBs overall are not OP. You can carry just as well in cruisers or dds by playing them to their strengths. This is not the same question as "is this meta fun" - which is completely different and a better question. -

Bastion Mode - Anyone else really not like it?
Admiral_noodle replied to Cirrus4000's topic in General Discussion
I don't like it because it's daft. You sail into a cap and it converts a fort into your own, and back again. Plus the surveillance stations... it really feels weird. Domination I can "get" - your fleet is trying to get sea control of an area. The other modes too standard is breakthrough and epicentre is similar again to domination. But bastion? I understand the intent and applaud it, but I'd rather have things like a convoy mission or protect an airbase or bombard an enemy coastline. Bastion - nice try but it's a daft mode which doesn't do much for immersion. -
6 consecutive games as low tier ? Are you kidding me ?
Admiral_noodle replied to AlwaysBadLuckWithTeams's topic in Archive
Just to be clear there is no guarantee. You get what you get. And yes it's annoying when you get bottom tier games all the time. -
Or WG could helpfully put a boot camp mission up to sail tier 8 Russian ships. Hint. I need Russian ships to kill too. Only 5/20. 19/20 US ships done.

Some players obsession with stats. What's up with that?
Admiral_noodle replied to Runner357's topic in General Discussion
Well. You can't consistently get good results by doing this. And this stat would show that. -

I would love average finishing position as a stat. -

Admiral_noodle replied to Runner357's topic in General Discussion
I play to win. Always. Simple as that. I don't always stres out over a loss but if I feel I've made a mistake then I get grumpy. I also get grumpy if I do my best to win then watch as someone in my team goes out of their way to lose the game... I wish I didn't care about stats but the problem is I feel I am being constantly judged as a player. Why should I care? Well it's because I don't think I'm very good at the game and I have a constant need to prove to myself that I don't suck. Because I did suck. See my CBT stats. I sometimes don't play for fear of doing badly and letting the team down. That's a really sucky feeling as well. Probably stems from being bad at sports as a kid and being psychologically affected - knowing first hand what happens when you screw up in a team game... I still don't think I'm very good at the game, but at least I try to learn and generally use my brain in order to win - so I can make up for my inherent lack of actual skill. tl:dr - I obsess over my own stats because I have an inferiority complex as a result of being crap at football at school. -

Admiral_noodle replied to Kutfroat's topic in General Discussion
BBs ought to have the highest damage and survival rates. Well maybe not survival. That suggests BBs not tanking for the team. But the game isn't about that it's about playing to win. Thus stats are a bit misleading. Dds cap more right? OP in this context would mean a bb having a disproportionate carry capability vs other ships. If true then you can find this out. If a class is OP (rather than a ship) then Unicum players should consistently get better WRs in that class vs other classes. And across many Unicums Similarly if a class is UP then the reverse will be true. So go look at unicums and their WR by class (and by ship this will work across multiple unicums) and see if BBs net them a better WR than cruisers etc. -

Why do people in every thread want things to be buffed/nerfed before asking "how can I get the best results out of X?" Also, especially in high tier games I've found that team play is actually OP. The minute a few players start cooperating individual ship strengths/weaknesses become far less important. So the first answer to the OP question is "try teamwork". The second is "ask how to defeat high tier BBs". And for the record no I don't think BBs need a nerf in general. If anything I'd like to see CVs get more of a role in the game and radar not seeing through islands (but active a little longer). At least then there would be skill in hiding and it would encourage hydro and radar players to *shock* work together. -

4th supercontainer I've lost track of how many containers I've got but its usually 2 per day. 20m credits 500 doubloons 50 Ocean Souls 5m credits Pleasing Although TBH I like 5x Julliet Charlie's just as much -
Voted other and better arcs... Because overall the line is fine, competitive, and fun when you work out their play style. Same with RUCAs in my opinion. But the tier 4 and tier 5 are hopeless, and need *something* to make them less depressing. So I suggest arcs.

Seriously watch your tone. It might be "all in fun" but on the other hand it's not funny or clever. So just don't. As for CVs there is no way they are as they fix as arty in WoT. You can see planes coming. You can take steps to avoid. Played right CV gameplay is dominant and controlling. The only issue I have at the moment with CVs is games can be won or lost by one cv player.

This also sometimes happens with the +150xp win of the day. Basically the port doesn't seem to update immediately.

It would be p2w is Leander was UP because she doesn't have HE. This is not the case. Leander and Perth are just different. Tier 4 and 5 notwithstanding, the RNCL are not unfairly handicapped.

Another MM thread yet OP seems not to have read the others... I don't need to google what the chances are of getting 7 heads in a row. I can do maths It's 0.78% OMG that's so unlikely. Well yes. And no. If there are say 20,000 players on one evening and let's say they all play 7 games, about 150 will have 7 losses. And this can be every night. So it's not that rare at all. Then if you find you keep having losing streaks it's likely the problem is you - and you need to see if you want to do anything about it. Personally if I lose a few in a row I'll switch ship to one that I know I am good in and play it till I win. Nothing worse than banging your head against a brick wall with a ship you're not doing well in because then you'll try too hard and lose because of poor judgement.

The SAP is "represented" in game using tweaked AP mechanics so it doesn't entirely work like proper SAP. This is because WG haven't invented a proper SAP mechanic... yet. Maybe they will. It still won't cause fires (because gameplay) but you're right non penning AP ought to do some damage if it hits superstructure. Shells bounce because of angles though. British AP has a better auto bounce angle though. At the moment the SAP mechanic works fairly well but I agre it would be nice to have it work a bit more realistically.

I like this. But it might be frustrating to players. Worth exploring though and feels like realism.

The only issue I have with MM now are: - it sucks to be the only bottom tier ship in a match dominated by higher tiers. I would like MM to make sure at least a third of ships are bottom tier. Other than that the idea that cruisers are weaker is daft. Use team work to play to your teams advantages and see the match up as a challenge to be overcome rather than trying to make wows into endless samey mirror matches. Players >> ships. ...I wish (sigh)

Economy changed just before they add premium T10 camo......
Admiral_noodle replied to scousersuk's topic in General Discussion
Funny thing is since the economy changes I'm making a lot more out of my tier 8 games. Not checked the Iowa but I suck anyway. The way I see it the new permanent camos and the changes to the tier VI - IX camos are great. It now gives people the option to pay money to WG to enjoy their high tier ships without worrying about costs. Or they can continue to play lower tiers to make credits. Or they can be super Unicum and make money at tier X. It's about choice. I'm all for it. -

From Reddit: Very interesting visibility/concealment "oddity" found regarding detection range!
Admiral_noodle replied to Leo_Apollo11's topic in General Discussion
Working as designed. Not entirely sure if as intended. Point is the debuff to concealment applies for 20s. This is to stop you transiently passing behind an island or through a smoke screen and immediately dropping off when you pop out again. But as we see, firing when nothing to spot you immediately reduces your concealment again. So while transiting through cover if you fire your guns it will make you drop off faster. Interesting.- 6 replies

While you are all complaining about overpens I managed to miss every shell at 6km with Bismarck vs. A broadside tirpitz. Bismarck really is a shot gun. But it's to be expected. I've obviously specced her for secondaries. I need to learn to aim a bit higher so RNG doesn't shove all my water line shots into the water.
