Point of principle regarding permanent camouflage
Admiral_noodle replied to Charger76's topic in Archive
...maybe I just expect less from companies. What they've done seems ok to me and if I had been affected I wouldn't be complaining. If they'd given doubloon refunds I'd be cheering sure, but it could have been a lot worse - so I don't think WG should be bashed for it is all. You are slowly convincing me though...and my partner thinks there should be "store credit" (he's not a player of wows but does know law and fair value)- 48 replies

Point of principle regarding permanent camouflage
Admiral_noodle replied to Charger76's topic in Archive
Can't vote in the poll because the third is biased and there is no neutral option. Oddly the way WG have handled the camo is likely to make me consider buying a premium camo more rather than less. Since the game started I've seen a lot of changes to the tech tree ships. Good ones have been nerfed. Bad ones buffed. And this cycle will continue. The decision to give you the equivalent camo AND let you have premium camo on the ship that's been moved means I'm not worried if I do buy a premium camo for a ship. WG can't give the doubloons back because then you'll have benefitted from the bonuses from camo at no cost. However if WG had said "ok we will give you the option of getting 2/3 of your doubloons back instead", then that might be ok as an option. But full doubloon refund after profiting from the camo already? No that would be unfair I think. Although if you did get a refund of doubloons I don't think I'd complain either. Was my choice not to have premium camo. So no. I don't think not getting a doubloon refund is unfair or unprincipled. But if anyone manages to wangle a doubloon refund good for you.- 48 replies

Well exactly mtm Can you imagine the cost of a lifetime Netflix?? Maybe WG should only sell premiums and camo on a yearly basis to avoid these issues - but other websites do sell lifetime membership- I just can't think of a decent example right now. And sure premiums don't change. Often. But they could. WG are in their rights to do it they just don't because people would get upset. Legally they can and it says so when you buy it.- 48 replies

Campaign 'Honorable Service' is over for me before it began
Admiral_noodle replied to ThePurpleSmurf's topic in General Discussion
Consider a mission which can only be achieved by playing CV. Let's say I want the "prize". I don't play CV. What would I do? A) accept that I won't get the prize B) try to play CV more to get the prize C) complain that the mission and life isn't fair I would pick A or B personally. The missions are like contests for a prize. I have the opportunity to go for it or not. It's my choice. I lose nothing by the introduction of missions and campaigns only gain opportunities. Therefore I won't complain about mission requirements. -
Well to be fair spreading the love is sometimes good and required. But remember to make your shots count and shoot at the right target. Basically if you're in a cruiser and do half damage to a dd that's as good as half damage to a BB. Guess which one is achieved quicker Shoot at those targets which pose the biggest threat to your team and those you can have the biggest impact on. So prioritise dds, select the right ammo and shoot where your shots will do most damage
-
So I endeavour not to get into such a situation in the first place by turning away when they are at medium range and now I'm starting their YOLO. Dispersion means the risk is acceptable When I am close to one of these ships I'm almost always already angled away from them having planned up front. The exception is when I'm also YOLOing with those ships And it usually ends in a trade if I fail to "juke" my opponent. The problem with a BB is once you shift your rudder over you're committed and will eat torps. A favourite move of mine is to fake a turn but not go full rudder, hope he launches then brake and put the rudder full the other way. Or I end up ramming. It's generally not a good situation!

Getting Pink because of blind team sailors -.-
Admiral_noodle replied to Hades_warrior's topic in Archive
Oh ok. My bad. Danae is a dd with a citadel anyway. But still my point is valid. -
Hi. Is this the right screenshot? It says total damage just over 28k. For tier 4 80k damage would get you a lot more xp. 787 seems about right for a 20k damage performance. Also base cap assists are worth less than solo caps. Also i think the cap xp is distributed between players based on how much they contributed to the cap. It would be nice to see an xp breakdown in game though to help with such questions.

Whats the best performing tier 8 battleship?
Admiral_noodle replied to Tyskland169's topic in General Discussion
Can I make that statement? It is kind of true. But the down side is worse main battery and increased reliance on RNG. -
Point of principle regarding permanent camouflage
Admiral_noodle replied to Charger76's topic in Archive
This is indeed true. When you buy a permanent camo for a ship you do so in the knowledge that ships may be moved, reworked, changed or otherwise fiddled with at any time. If WG reimbursed those doubloons you'd have got a benefit for a period of time effectively for free. That's not fair on everyone else. The solution WG have come up with is generous, and avoids some legal issues. Effectively you get to keep the camo and you get an equivalent camo. I bought Murmansk. I got good use out of her. Less so now following AFT and MM changes. However that's life with a living game. When you buy any content in the game you are actually renting it for an indefinite period. It would be equivalent to paying up front for lifetime Netflix. If in the future you don't like the content on Netflix, you wouldn't be reimbursed... When you buy a camo or premium you have to think of it as "permanent renting" and buy it in the knowledge ships will change.- 48 replies

Getting Pink because of blind team sailors -.-
Admiral_noodle replied to Hades_warrior's topic in Archive
I was wondering if anyone had checked OP's stats. If I've got the right player then he only has a very small number of games in dds. However it's important for OP to understand and accept that torping a team mate at point blank range is *definitely* OP's fault. Have some map awareness. If there is a team mate in the way he's likely having his own problems. Don't become one of them! -
Campaign 'Honorable Service' is over for me before it began
Admiral_noodle replied to ThePurpleSmurf's topic in General Discussion
The mission is permanent. If you don't have the ships right now to complete the mission you will do at some point. I'm not even looking at that campaign yet I'm doing the easy one first. Why don't people see this as a nice incentive? I really can't see the validity of the "not fair" comments. Everyone can achieve these campaigns in the time limit. Because there isn't one. -
Haha! But being focussed is part of new ship testing. However in that game I was focussed because all my team mates died around me

I need 3 more wins at tier 8 to get Takao. Therefore my next tier 8 results will go like this... WWLLLLLLL.....LL

In your defence I think you're saying that people who have bad experiences of a ship will tend to hate the ship and that this doesn't necessarily reflect a players ability but rather their opinions will be coloured by their actual experience. This is certainly true for me. Also if a ship doesn't have a play style you like naturally you won't like the ship. When I played Danae I had bad experiences. So naturally I skipped her and Emerald. Perhaps at some point I should go back - try the torp boat tactic and see if I get results. I still think that generally the ship is weak - but played "a certain way" can get results. I don't like that certain way though

Scharnhorst bought via doubloons - Can I get my money back?
Admiral_noodle replied to BruceForce's topic in General Discussion
Suggest raising a ticket with WG and seeing if they will apply the same. After all if you get the doubloons back it's only like store credit anyway. -
ARP Takao? nah, prepare for the ARP Nachi pain
Admiral_noodle replied to Jvd2000's topic in General Discussion
Well oddly I went out in my Chapy this morning. Did 60k damage, sunk 3 ships and survived. Didn't get focussed or even shot at much. I felt like saying "hello!!! Russian ship here!! Shoot me!" So I'm doing my bit... -
The stats of the japanese DD-lines doesn't feel in line with what they say they were supposed to
Admiral_noodle replied to DaWyrm's topic in General Discussion
To be honest the test of the ships was my first ever experience of ijn dds. I didn't like the long range torps (always selected lower range ones if I could, while still being able to torp from stealth) because I felt the only things they did were: - cause me paranoia about hitting friendlies - cause camping - only punish stupidity or mistakes by the enemy. If you like budy (I like budy!) you should like Akizuki - if you use HE to set fire then use AP to do damage. Shiratsuyu with the torp reload mod was also adrenaline pumping fun at times. Get into position, dump torps. Flee. Useable guns too. Yugumo with F3 torps I also found decent. I also found to my surprise that apart from the odd noob mistake I didn't totally suck in them - which given I have next to no dd experience until these - was quite pleasing. I may grind ijn dds, but I might wait for German dds or do US ones first. Certainly I enjoyed the new ships, and I didn't think there guns were useless - making me think "why do ijn dds never shoot?" -
It's a completely new alternate line. Why should you not have to research said new line? Original hatsu has been replaced. Hatsu is now a totally new ship on a new branch. Thus you need to research said branch. I remain confused.

IJN DD | 0.5.15 | Perma camos - should there have been a refund option?
Admiral_noodle replied to T_H_0_R's topic in General Discussion
Well I disagree with this in general. First because I think the game has a future and is pretty good now. Second because if I like a ship I'll buy premium camo for it knowing it will change. If it changes I'll take that as a challenge to learn the ship again. I also have faith that truly garbage ships get buffed (I've bought back NC now) and WG do try to balance ships to make them playable. After all if I didn't believe that I wouldn't be a super tester. finally given the way WG have compensated premium camo owners I'm MORE likely to purchase them now, not less.
