Where are the Christmas convoy missions?
Admiral_noodle replied to bigbramble's topic in General Discussion
Maybe if sales of the tirpitz camo were below expectations. No it's not fair or right to take any action against anyone who chooses to buy it, but personally I won't be. -
German Destroyers Nerfed Before Launch

Possibly not but for *me* they straddle the line between us and Russian dds. Russians I find to awkward and us dds I can't get my head round their arcs. So for me this line is "just right". The hydro - on a dd does add something new as does the forward firing torps low tier. The tier V is the stinker as it adds nothing new and another ship can always give you something better. So it's the right dd line *for me* -

Remove the emotional bit at the end and you'd probably have more effect. Putting opinion into anything will cause some people to react negatively to your statement. Just state facts -
Well given I want the ship anyway and don't have unlimited time if I had the same option as the other servers to get everything the best way for me to do it would have been to buy the ship and grind the convoy campaign. If all regions had the option of convoy or to buy the camo I might have bought the tirpitz camo and played for the GS. Since this is not the case I will now do the GS campaign and NOT purchase the tirpitz camo. So actually thanks WG for saving me some money

LOL - top class editing Now let me think should I by this... No, would not recommend! I'm tired at being angry at WGEU though. It's not worth my effort. I'll still spend loads on WoWs, but "happy" (happier?) knowing that in my case WG have lost money from me in this specific case. It would be awesome if litterally *no one* bought this camo - in my personal opinion -

FInal haul from ~10 containers (some gifted) Ishizuchi, 2500 doubloons, lots of camo and... Atago. SO yeah, am pleased, and also DONE -
so I had a last round of present buying as I had 3 to get for friends and thought "oh go on, just two more for me". First one, 40 more ocean souls Second one, Atago. Since I had no IJN trainers pre-yesterday and now I have two, I am very pleased. Guess the game is telling me to grind IJN CAs after all. OK then Now since the prospect of getting anything amazing is slim, I shall stop. It also means I don't need to buy any IJN premiums now . Overall amount gained slightly better than amount invested, so good fun and worth it. It does make me think of "value" in games like these. People compare it to other game titles but with those I play them for a bout a week, finish them, get bored. The closest I can compare it to is my addiction to tabletop wargaming, and there I bought a 40k Warhound titan. Hundreds of pounds, beautifully painted, mostly an ornament. PLayed like 3 times, been one-shotted twice (!) Do I regret it? No! Non-geek friends and my partner think I'm mental for spending money on "toys", but to me the ships I have in WoWs feel very much as "real" as models I physically own. You could argue that at least with physical models I can always sell them and get money back, or that I can always enjoy them... Well tell that to my warhammer army

German Destroyers Nerfed Before Launch
Admiral_noodle replied to Darksith_77's topic in General Discussion
...or be extremely cunning and use islands to your advantage. Since I tested with no concealment builds *anyway* I was forced to play this way and I found success... Although the rudder shift on the german dds meant a fair few accidental beachings until I got used to it. I learnt I had to plan for *after* the dd fight as well, so things like ducking behind cover from the next ship that detects you and using the dead dds own smoke (my personal favourite). As for the miscommunication easily done. We had heard about the change (I think it was leaked actually on this forum anyway I saw it) but as Sub_Octavian said in the thread it was moved into a different patch so it all got a bit lost in translation. The only German DD I hated with a passion was the T5. No front torps, no hydro, ugly as hell and awkward as hell. -

Sometimes it's better to step away from the madness. I suggest you do that -
You sir have more sense than money For everyone else, me included, remember to gamble responsibly (it's better than actual gambling though. You always win something)

Low Tier German DDs - A Little OP, perhaps?
Admiral_noodle replied to invicta2012's topic in General Discussion
You forgot butt ugly Stupid tugboat... BUT... I did break 100k in her by using her as a torp boat... So suggest doing that. -
I bought 4 and got camos. I was happy with those (I like camos, they reduce grind, economy and look nice) until YOU showed me your premium ship, then I sulked a bit. Then unexpectedly 2 friends got me containers. I got Ishizuchi and 2500 doubloons and am very happy So moral is... er, gifts are better? Complaining gets you free ships? I don't know if there is a moral. It IS a lottery, however the camos themselves do represent fair value. I think I worked out camos are usually ~5 doubloons per go (ish? now they are permanent I forget) which is about 10-15p depending on doubloon conversion rates. 40 camos is therefore "worth" between £4 and £6 on an individual basis. However if you won't be happy with camos I strongly advise NOT to buy them for yourself in the hope of free ship. Similarly if you don't have money to spend...

You know this is a very nice and profitable way to get us spending money. Reasonably priced Xmas gifts that give you "nice things" and a decent chance of especially nice things. All my friends are now gift giving. And the four I bought for me - sure they were only camo, but I can use camo... The other gifts I gave were doubloons and camo, so in all I spent £30... Then I got 2 containers as gifts - and got Ishizuchi, which is great (and hilarious with DE and all the fire flags). Then the second - doubloons from the second Ishizuchi... Looking at the shop I spent ~£30, and got: A LOT of useful camos, a £9 ship and £8 worth of doubloons. Its arguable whether the bucket load of camos are worth the difference, but value in this game is highly arguable anyway... And highly argued I think its a fantastic Xmas event and a great reuse of the container mechanic. I presume its making WG a nice pot of cash too. So thanks! ...WG EU, this is how you make money and please people, encourage them to spend, don't force them... Just sayin' -

Tuccy is totally right. But so is the truck story. It's a very good analogy. The only way I can interpret this is WG EU believe they will make more money out of the permanent camo in EU because maybe the high number of tirpitz and then Graf Spee owners who are willing to spend. Clearly they have decided it's worth it financially to have the large number of people paying for it to offset the loss of good will. It's not illegal and it's not even abnormal practice. Offers are tailored to markets in all industries. Tuccy is right we should remain civil, and team killing people for buying such content is just absolutely wrong. I think it's a misjudgement as the community is relatively small and well connected. Perhaps as we see more criticism of WG EU on various media they will realise this is a mistake. Perhaps not. As an individual however I'm not going to let it "ruin Christmas" or ruin my experience of the game. After all WG have given us the chance to get lots of free stuff anyway even if it's not as good as the missions elsewhere. In the end only a relative few would have achieved all the missions and a lot of them are here. That's why the forum is particularly enraged. Justifiably. I wouldn't have been able to do all the missions for free. But I might have bought GS to do the convoys instead. Now I'll hopefully get GS free and not spend a penny. I won't be buying the camos now either so actually WG have saved me some money there Anyway we shall see where this ends up. -
Wait people just wait. It's luck. It's also gambling. So bear that in mind. If you aren't going to be happy with camo (which are just about "worth it") then don't play the game* *i mean the game of try your luck. Not wows!

I'm just not buying any camos if others can get them free and I have no choice. Just don't shoot others for buying them please. Unless they are on the enemy team. -
Thing is quitting is then cutting your nose off to spite your face. If WG ever bothered me that much (they don't. It's a company. I don't expect companies to be brilliant) I would keep playing but play for free. Your choice though. Have fun in whatever you do

German Destroyers Nerfed Before Launch
Admiral_noodle replied to Darksith_77's topic in General Discussion
Except they can still launch torps from stealth. Don't think this was a conspiracy though. Just that WG still thought then a bit too good and nuked Invisifire. They ought to have made it clear to CCTs though. I just think they forgot. I don't see what anyone has to gain from deliberately not mentioning it. Creating hype then releasing a let down is the last thing they want people to think. I never used it much anyway. But I think t1-4 good 5-7 weak and you must use your torps. 8-10 still good even after the firing nerf I used the 150s whenever I could. I like rushing in and damaging things before running for island cover. Some people will still love these dds. Others won't. That's not new. Stats will determine if WG have been heavy handed with the nerf bat. -
