BBs are the speahread of attacks, yet..
Admiral_noodle replied to Soulblight's topic in General Discussion
You have to know how to play each ship. Playing then in takes time and you'll suck at first. Learning the difference between a battleship and a battle cruiser is also important, as is CL vs. CA. Know your ship! (Or learn it). Fuso can't brawl, most U.S. BBs and Nagato can. Super Myogi can't go toe to toe with Arkansas etc etc... Also Figment is spot on. -
It's more annoying when I can see the shells coming from the invisible ship... Then I realised I can shoot where the shells are coming from It can be annoying to have stealth destroyers, especially on cap, but as a BB I won't sail side on to smoke screens.

That's a good way to put it. -
Carriers are OP, Battleships are OP, Cruisers are OP, Destroyers are OP

People are grinding BBs to get their favourite big ship back. I know I am. Once I get super-Kongo back I'll focus back on cruisers. But I win more in Omaha than anything else... I have 6 real life friends who played in CBT - a mix of ships. Now they are all playing BBs "for a change" (not because they are op) -

Ah yes. I've noticed people have forgotten (or never learned) about angling. My kill rate has gone up from 2 kills in 3 games to a kill per game now. Stay 45 degrees on people! -
I'm a new player and several of my friends are. I joined in CBT (late) and loved it! I was sooooo bad at low tiers the first time round. It was an experience, but not a bad one As the tiers progressed I needed to learn and then master new skills. I think the game progresses well.

...and that's just insulting him Was trying to educate and help here :p -
To be fair I've only noticed it at flat angles. And I've yet to do it to a St. Louis. My poor Omaha got wrecked by a stealth New Mexico because I went side on. Not sure why so many BBs right now. Cruisers are still more fun to me. I'm just grinding to Kongo then going to focus on US cruisers.

+1 from me too. This is a very well thought out post! This is the only game apart from cities skylines I even play. I am 37 and for me this game is just *so good* compared to what I grew up with. I had a Commodore 64 Young 'uns today are proper spoilt I've also noticed: I get a problem in WoW - go onto YouTube and look up advice - like angling! And lo the proven mostly goes away.

Will we ever see submarines in this game?
Admiral_noodle replied to Gunerstile's topic in General Discussion
Non playable sub hazard zones might be fun on a map though... -
Fair enough. Of course WG would need to make the maps a little bigger to have the fatal sub zone. It would look better than the boundary skiing though.

I'm pretty good at BB play tactically, plus my situational awareness is usually good. Sadly I seem to suck at shooting However a battleship has no place charging forward especially when close to islands. It's asking to be sunk - cf Dardanelles, battles at Leyte... BBs are at their best in 2s or 3s, close to the middle of the map (ie not way over on one end), with good sea room escorted by 3 or so cruisers screening them. Works amazingly well! -
Ah but who would get the kill? And is it fair if your rudder is jammed (it's funny of course)

I don't mean camping. I mean not rushing in alone. Sit back supporting cruisers and flush out dds. Then pick the moment and "press" the enemy. Don't charge in, ease in, with team mates. -
Surely the answer is rock ;)
-
Someone else noticed this! Not all angles but oh yeah big guns can proper wreck cruisers now. Good ;and I play cruisers)
-
I still like the idea that you can sail out of it but get a 30s countdown. Then a submarine torpedoes you

BBs are not spearheads. They do not rush forward. This is not how they were designed to work! Suggest reading about major naval battles and tactics. Wows is realistic *enough* for naval tactics to actually work -
Win rate saddens me now I'm in the mid 40s! However for me I like to see how well I do vs. my team. If I come near the top it's good Average XP would be nice to see. Might show up bots and afk too?

Impossible to Evade Carrier Torps. (Not when you evade properly).
Admiral_noodle replied to Outlawz0111's topic in General Discussion
I've played carriers in CBT and setting up a "perfect drop" is very hard. For it to work you need a little time to set it up. If the enemy is turning all tho time it's a real pain... Still as a BB player I rarely get sunk by Torps. Take a few hits sometimes sure. Why should you always be able to dodge though? You can't dodge battleship shells and I've lost >75% of my cruiser health to AP citadel hits. Something has to be able to almost one shot a BB otherwise they would rule the game totally. -
And I still don't rate it Maybe I should buy it back and give her another go!
-
Seriously people use your mini map! When you see torp bombers inbound: - check to see where they are going - don't be the most tempting lone BB - start turning well before they are even close - keep them to your bow or stern and turn as they approach to keep yourself a difficult target 9 times out of 10 the CV player will go bother someone else instead.
-
People all have St. Louis because it's in the path to us cruisers and bbs... So it's ground twice (!) I still don't rate it. I hated playing her and now I just make sure I engage at long range. She's so slow you get to dictate the terms of the battle with most other ships. I suppose an exception would be US BBs which can't get away but they have better guns and ought to sink St. Louis before they burn you to death. I do think it's to hard to citadel the ship though. Unlike Kuma or Tenryu which I always aim for for the easy criticals!
-
Weird. Although I do find their citadels hard to hit, I don't fear St. Louis with myogi. For a start I'm faster and can simply open the range to where he can't hit me back. Plus I have captain skills to stop the silly fires a little. Just don't duel with the St. Louis in its comfort zone... Kawachi is less good
