Aren't battleships kinda underpowered right now?
Admiral_noodle replied to Mars_Triumphant's topic in General Discussion
Thats because they are tier III BBs and are rubbish. Even so they can wreck cruisers. I had great fun in South Carolina. BBs get better quite fast. By tier V they are excellent. Also great necro thread. -

I don't know about all the numbers and theory crafting but for me BBs are superior to cruisers. At least when I play them. - massive alpha damage. If you're patient - can nuke cruisers in a few salvoes - planning and thought can easily avoid their weaknesses. I rarely get torpedoed to death or burned to death in my BBs. If I do it's either because my team have suicided or I've done something rather wrong. If anything cruisers need a little help. They seem to be food for my BBs unless the player is very very good. -
I liked it, encouraged me to play more, then try to firestart in cruisers which I dont normally. Was fun! Now I have to get it on my other account* too (!) *and by other I mean my partner's, and not me playing on his account at all.

What Were Your Greatest Gaming Achievements Today ?
Admiral_noodle replied to Hanszeehock's topic in General Discussion
Not bad for the first Kongo game in a month. I must say Drigtol complained just a little about the team after being sunk, but I managed to get the final shot to win the game (despite not being able to sink a Ryoju right next to me... where is its citadel!?) -

Ah thank you well it's a system. I like simple systems and I think it's "fair" to compare to server averages. Of course I'm awesome in lower tier ships I like that it shows how "good" you are per ship too. It shows I have a lot of learning to do on some ships vs. Others. -
How can you improve? Progression issues anyone?
Admiral_noodle replied to SeaWolf7's topic in General Discussion
Seriously do watch Notser on YouTube. He plays most classes of ships and narrates what he's doing. So does Aerroon. These two I watch a lot in order to see how to play. Both have helped me no end to get the most out of my ships. However I'm still bad above tier 8. What I really need now is map guides. I seem to do well on ocean, strait, two brothers but I always struggle on fault line. I've no idea where to put my ship! -

im not sure if I like this or not. Stats reduce my enjoyment of the game because it puts more pressure to do well, and pressure is less fun. On the other hand it is something to aim for and improve on. -
A sophisticated MM almost certainly doesn't exist. People are good with some ships at some times and not at others. Coming up with a "clever" MM would be a huge investment of resources for practically no gain over random. There is litterally no point in WG doing it. Lately I keep getting bottom tier in Murmansk which is annoying. As for team skill I've never seen any kind of patterns in MM. It's just luck of the draw.

I must admit I like the rating system. It's much better for me to focus on that than win rate as a measure of how "good" I am. I will admit that I do play on another account (set up for my partner when he showed interest. Played a few games then said he didn't like it lol) - and I've been "hooked" on completing missions on that one (well I'm more progressed on that account). I've managed to get a rating of 1524 which seems good, and I can maintain that even when on the losing team. I've no idea how it works, but I like whatever system it is! -
Everyone is in a Yamato too. The high tier games have been not so enjoyable on PT. mostly because people have no idea what they are doing and one team squashes the other. However I like the new maps. Des Moines is always fun. 15 citadels and 110k damage in one game. Yeah. People just showing their side... I sank and made 200k profit

Fun as this is it worries me. I'm green to purple lately and imagine if that was visible in game. I'm not even particularly good, a lot of people must just be awful. No to xvm in wows. -

It might be by ship. Overall I'm green in pvp. Over the last 35 days I'm purple (?) but over the last week I've been trying to improve with NC and tier 8 gameplay and I'm green/blue again. Whats purple? I must be purple at tier V -
Killing 5 enemies in a game will now give you equal speed Charlie London... I agree that +50% XP flags are a little to easy to get (from WG perspective). Whatever ship I am grinding permanently has one, and my stock of them is still going up. Because my "grind" games are about 1 in 3, confederate in about every 10th game now, which yields 3 flags - 3x what I need.

Not evough carriers currently. I tried to complete 8 plane kills in New Orleans over and over... Then completed it randomly in tirpitz...

IChase's talk about state of the game
Admiral_noodle replied to Horin728's topic in General Discussion
I do agree with a lot of those points, but to be fair to WG most of the issues have been there from day 1 - ie the simplicity. There are things that could be done to make the "button pressing" less simplistic. In terms of balance there is an issue with CVs at the moment. There aren't enough and it makes my poor old us cruisers redundant. To address the immediate issue of balance I hope 0.5.2 is an improvement. To address ichase's other issues about simplistic button pressing - it's been there since CBT. It would take an entire rework to address. It would be nice to see some more complexity but I'm not sure it's as big an issue as he suggests. -
This is classic herd mentality. It's difficult to reverse as you have to get people organised to all go in the same direction once the rout starts. It's interesting.

Funny thing is I keep completing mine too fast now I can drop one I don't like. So I don't have to play for as long... I don't really notice them until they come up completed on each game result... Poor team play. Yeah. You have to deal with it as best you can. If team is good play for the win. If struggling try to carry. If hopeless play selfishly for as much damage/XP as you can get. I usually get my best XP in games we are losing. Usually come top of the losing team but mid table in the winning team. I guess I am a defensive player.

0.5.2 Patch - exp & cr gain changes - WoWS Asia Bulletin
Admiral_noodle replied to XueLong's topic in General Discussion
When is anything ever final. Tweak then analyse then tweak again... I keep making money from daily missions now I can drop one per day. In fact the current set up plays well for people who play like under ten games a day. Just enough to complete missions to cover some costs. Hmmm..., -
But it's still stupid to do it. If you waste a potential salvo to get a kill for say 2000hp when it could have been 10000. Well 1.5x2000 is less than 10000! So kill stealing is really dumb. Kill securing when you're the best placed to do it is sensible. Cretins won't work any of this out so it doesn't matter what you're awarded for.
-
Well encouraging people to switch targets after doing 20% HP isn't exactly good either i wish there here was an achievement for coming top of the team on XP though.
