OP I don't think you enjoy the game. I was in a battle with you and you were complaining in chat while I was trying to win. Which we did (and I came top in Kongo ) In many ways the game is what it is. And your main complaints are things which have been there right from the start. So if you dislike it so much and it makes you so unhappy why do you keep playing?

57 HE hits for 0 damage. How?
Admiral_noodle replied to Admiral_noodle's topic in General Discussion
I did hit the deck. But it was an Erie. At point blank range. Just shows how armour and the system works I suppose. -
Pointing your nose at BBs really works though. I melted a Fuso (granted two tiers lower) in no time while his shots just bounced off my nose
-
Thanks to advice I managed a win and 106k damage in her this morning. Mostly vs. BBs though. I hit a Myoko 15 times and every shot was an overpen. Does this shop actually do damage to cruisers?? She just sailed along broadside and was invulnerable apparently. Very annoying.

I would also prefer a proper map rotation rather than "random" - random can get repetitive

Same problem for me over the holiday period. Logically bad teams should even out but apparently not. Then there were the 3 or 4 games where all my luck came at once. 120k damage and a shed load of achievements in Murmansk. Next game sunk in Koenigsberg as my team melt around me. 44% win rate over the last month. Main problem is North Carolina though. Hard ship for me to carry in especially with a load of derpy tirpitz drivers around Oddly I had a great game in tirpitz today, 120k damage and torpedoed another tirpitz. Sunk by a very good cv player but never mind

Happy new year!

Can be a problem. If tier always correlates with experience - which it probably does a lot of the time. The only way to mitigate is to try *desperately* to organise the team if YOU know what you're doing. Can work, sometimes.

That's not bad for your division. Any battleship can wreck your Omaha and Murmansk and your ships can take on the enemy cruisers and DDs easily. The Kongos have a challenge but as long as they are escorted by cruisers they had the speed advantage over the Colorados. The slow enemy BBs are a problem for the enemy. You have to - as a team - work out how to exploit those weaknesses. Oh and the Pensacola can wreck Koenigsberg aswell. This isn't terrible MM.

Strait is the worst map in the game.
Admiral_noodle replied to CatOnKeyboard's topic in General Discussion
The reason I like it is because unlike fault line there is a chance to engage the enemy immediately. Then how you coordinate the "top and bottom" is always interesting. -
Wouldn't that also depend on whether the dispersion algorithm is linear? I confess I don't know how the dispersion works in game. Also I'm less bothered by maximum dispersion, rather the distribution of dispersion probabilities, which is unknown to me.
-
Massive argument --> must now be balanced I got caught out by the change... But it was my own fault. You should know where DDs are or are likely to be and take steps to mitigate damage. You should also know what the DDs are, what their reload time is and their range and spread. With this information you can avoid torps altogether from DDs. If you get torped you either took a risk and it didn't work out or you didn't do your homework

This is my favourite map. -
Wait yes. It makes dispersion worse?? I can't hit at super long range anyway (and I shouldn't. People should move). Might remove it. I hate the long range anyway.
-
The change is a good one, though it does mean players need to do their job!! and at high tier can lead to even more passive game play because everyone is waiting for people to do their job. DDs are getting popular again which is good. It means my cruiser has something to do anyway. My BBs need to rely on cruisers and DDs and planes to "sweep" an area clean of lurking DDs, or I'm dead (which is how my NC died yesterday. I had to push no one else was. No one helped. I got stealth torpedoed from behind an island - at least the enemy had competent players!) It makes divisioning more important at least while there are useless yolo selfish cruiser players around. Answer: be a cruiser player.
-
Aaahhhh. The muzzle velocity is screwing my aim. I was so rubbish in Cleveland I sold here. NC feels a little like an up gunned Cleveland in some ways! I think I'll wander off to coop to practice my shooting with her. Thanks!
-
Vigilance and target acquisition now must have on BBs. I'll have to be refiddling my captain skills. Again.
-
I think the point is certain sounds actually cause some people actual pain. Which is not great fun. But I could be wrong. Still I think it's worth fiddling your headset rather than the game.

Tirpitz for me is just a big Kongo. It's a battle cruiser but without brittle armour. The armour is in fact "squishy". Hard to citadel but every salvo is 3-4K minimum usually. This is in contrast to North Carolina who angled, bounces everything mostly. Guns aren't as powerful as NC but you can actually follow your cruisers in with tirpitz without the fear of accidentally being broadside to another bb. Surprise torpedoes as well make the tirpitz a very forgiving ship. And therefore it's hard to be "good" in her as she won't punish your mistakes. It's best to learn with unforgiving ships like amagi and NC - then relax in tirpitz
-
Thanks. I did try divisioning. It made things worse Unfortunately my division mate's Mogami blew up straight away. Yesterday I was in a division with a cv and a DD and that didn't help much. I clearly have a lot to learn about tier 8 gameplay in general - although I'm pretty handy in tirpitz my New Orleans is similarly woeful. I'll keep going, though it's ruining my stats
-
Avtualky op has a point. I still have over sensitive hearing at 38, but thankfully I've lost the ability to hear high frequency sounds (I used to have bat like hearing). The ringing squeal is barely audible for me now, it mostly just goes quiet, but I can sympathise. If I was 18 again playing this game a citadel would have me throwing off my headset in *actual pain* Suggest however you fiddle with your audio settings out of game and quieten down the high frequencies of you can.
-
I'm struggling to hit anything with her. No one else goes close so I get stuck at a fair distance dispersion seems poor. Add that in to my inexperience at leading high tier ships and I don't get hits much at all. Oh and then there are the high tier maps I'm not used too... Only 44% WR and 58k average damage. It's early days but disappointing. I do the turning and angling thing all the time and usually avoid a quick death, but I don't feel I'm having the impact I did with say New Mexico. Any tips? Or is it a case of practice harder? (Couldn't find another NC thread so necro'd this one)

Aren't battleships kinda underpowered right now?
Admiral_noodle replied to Mars_Triumphant's topic in General Discussion
A very good point actually. I have games where I just dodge torps all game. I'm good at it (CBT experience led to paranoia and dread of torp bombers. TBs should go for me in a cruiser. I'm so complacent) It wastes carriers time and dps. This is good for my team. Usually they give up. Its still infuriating. -

I think on balance I'll keep mine open. I shouldn't (and no one should) be ashamed of my performance. It's a game for goodness sake. Also if I have a weakness borne out by my stats I shouldn't be angry or upset if someone points it out. If people choose to point at my stats to undermine an opinion of mine then they are either an idiot - or they may just have a point, which will help me if I listen. -
Sigh. If you're travelling predictably I can hit you dead centre every time... If the guns are accurate (unlikely except with some cruisers). And I can do it while evading. I have two hands and a big screen. If you dodge and weave and change speed I can't do this. Neither can an aim assist or any mod. Unless you have one which is capable of predicting the future.
