From the other thread: Had a go on fully tricked (and I mean fully) AA DM today. Actually it was a fun game on islands of ice. I DD hunted tho so got beaten in AA by a Hindenberg Me 23 plane kills. Hindenberg 100. 2v2 carriers. It was actually a struggle to kill planes... Before the carriers or the Hindenberg! One CV on the enemy team did ok but the other kept sending his planes to die.., The CVs came middle of the pack in XP. All I did was kill a DD, 40k damage and sank a DD and I came second after the Hindenberg in XP - have they buffed XP for plane kills? Anyway. Yes a fully tricked tier X cruiser is monstrous at AA. But what am I giving up? Situational awareness for a start. No gun rotation buff (makes shooting things hard) and other things I kinda need on a cruiser. It was quite fun being an AA platform and DD killer, but will many people enjoy the escort role? (The Hindenberg must have) I'd love to get the carriers perspective on that game.

Just pay attention to where DDs are and aren't. Know where they might be. Know how they think. Intercept and kill them -

Thats because you do (like today, defending the cap and our CV from a hatsuharu. In my New Mexico. While clevelands wandered off to set fire to BBs, dying in the process). Realise that you have to do everything or it won't get done and you'll have less frustrating gaming -
Can't test all the perks as not enough skill points. Anyway. It's now impossible to get all the good skills. I think that's the point. Last stand is nice at level 2. I'll be putting that on my German cruiser captains!! Extra hit points. Not worth it for BBs. Very useful for DDs AA and secondaries. Overall too situational to warrant bothering with. A "better accuracy" skill on main batteries would be nice. And "realistic"! Anyway I don't think the skills are OP. I doubt I'll have a captain with a level 5 skill ever! I might keep AFT and BFT on Murmansk just for the AA. But I want last stand

I do think low tier CV play will be aggressive, but at high tiers AA will make CVs more wary and tactical. I play mostly mid tiers. I shall ready my AA platforms and maybe even tryout CVs - just to go all fighter to upset people -

I haven't seen this happen in about 150 games after I realised my role as "goalkeeper" But seriously I always keep an eye on base cover. -

So. Some thoughts. The current theory is tier 9-10 CVs are "ruined" because fully tricked out Des Moines (among others) will simply obliterate planes? Now I'm working towards a DM. I don't feel like I'll be spending all my captain skill points just to sail around eating planes. Maybe useful in team battles but in randoms? No. Of course the CV could ask for the AA cruisers to be focussed first... You know, team work... Or carriers could wait until cruisers are thinned out, then clean up. Someone is bound to make it work, that's the nature of meta. I don't know. This is why a LONGER TEST would be useful. With tier 9 and 10. And 15 skill points for everyone. Come on WG let us do a proper volume test. How is it going to hurt? -

Well... Not at tier 9 and 10 they aren't! If cvs got a nerf id like to see battles with 1 cv vs. None. Those used to be fun and interesting. Until people realises one cv was OP. If one CV is no longer OP why not just allow it again? As a non CV player I sympathise, but don't understand much I know I played on PT with 2v2 cvs. The cvs came mid to top of the XP list. I had NO and shot down 10 plays (woo). It didn't feel any different. At tier VI I faced numerous good cv players. I managed some awesome dodging with my New Mexico but didn't shot more down than usual. Same with Cleveland. Didn't feel any more powerful - I had BFT and AFT but not the AA speciality. Very few captains will get that - but it will affect tier 10 mainly. I can imagine a few DMs tricked out full AA... But unless carriers are in every game, or at least half, why would you go AA? I play USN cruisers. I really need cvs on the game!! -

Doh! Oh good I can go make an OP AA USN cruiser later then to see if this AA stuff actually works. I'd also played 2 tier 1 games before realising the research costs.

We need to: - test high tiers - test high tiers Also the PT is too short. WG should really extend for the weekend. After the fiasco of 0.5.1 we need longer to test. Not had any issues with cruisers and BBs - my fave classes. I've been up against some good cv players, which was enjoyable, so I hope we don't see them disappear.

Team battles first impressions - great addition and I can see my friends joining in with a team - flexibly implemented with mercenaries. This is good. Had one go as a merc so far. Boy my team were bad but anyway: - can we see in the UI who is a merc and who is part of the team? This would be useful - everyone is playing tier VI on the server at present. How will MM work with tier VI - VIII? I have balance concerns.

Well let's test it. I doubt ranked and team battles will run at the same time. You could have seasons or even "team weekends" or something. However generally I expect teams to be minority. And mercs only a few aswell I think ranked will be fine.
