On PT I only tried DM *with* AA build and didn't get that many kills. Surely 50 plane kills in a non AA CA is situational? What was the CV doing? Hovering over the Zao waiting to get planes killed? Until we have more stats (from lots of games) I can't say what's OP and what's not.

Play a ship you're good in. Murmansk is about to be nerfed by BFT and AFT changes but! Get last stand and demolitions. Put the fire starting flags on. Shoot HE at everything and watch the world burn (yes you should switch to AP sometimes when say you get a nice juicy Kuma broadside). You can do a lot of damage, it can torp, cap, and basically get you income. Don't try brawling with it though. You'll die. Murmansk is why I have 20m credits

Wat? I hate the North Carolina and its shotgun full of cabbages. If Iowa is the same I'm going to be sad. New Mexico is the bestest

Sink the wows-stats (XVM for warships)
Admiral_noodle replied to MADcompany's topic in General Discussion
And I hate this. MM based on stats? How do the tomatoes learn? From playing with better players... How would divisions work? The possibility for abuse is amazing. Get your stats down by afk-ing then go in the tomato "pool" and go seal clubbing. It's also random battles for a reason. Save this idea for ranked v2- 306 replies

Sink the wows-stats (XVM for warships)
Admiral_noodle replied to MADcompany's topic in General Discussion
The only xvm which would work is one which highlights where players are *good* only. Like badges of achievement. It would not show averages or games played. So it might read - gunnery ace (for hit %) - brawler (for above average secondary damage) - marksman (for high damage average) - fire starter - torpedo expert - objective securer Etc Marks of renown for a player or ship (ship is better) If you have none, it's much harder to say if someone is bad or merely an all round player...- 306 replies

Actually you can stop a retreat. Especially in a battleship. Point at the event, fire single guns at different enemies, indicate your going to make a stand and take damage for your team. The ship I do this in most is North Carolina lately after being dragged into tier X games and finding myself useless. Recently I've been getting better results by sticking my nose in and getting other better ships to follow. It usually leads to my death and I can't hit anything in that stupid ship but I've got my win rate in her off the floor (it was really really bad) Most times a few others will follow, and I've made whole fleets run just because I shot at them It can be done. If you're in a battleship you have to be the one who does it. But you have to tell people, you have to expect cruisers to flee if they are under heavy fire (although get them to rally behind you).

Which forum members have you seen in random battles?
Admiral_noodle replied to Cobra6's topic in General Discussion
Just met Babykim in Fujin with my Nagato. He single handedly won the game actually for the enemy (boo) by decapping me. I was the last ship and capping their base when somehow he appeared right in the nick of time to stop me stealth capping... In a Nagato. I would have gotten away with it to love be to have Babykim's perspective. He travelled most of the map after sinking our Fuso just to pop up and decap me to win the game with seconds to spare. -
Sink the wows-stats (XVM for warships)
Admiral_noodle replied to MADcompany's topic in General Discussion
The problem isn't with stats. The problem isn't with xvm. The problem is with people mis-applying stats (especially these "gross" stats) to individual situations. Generally I'm great with New Mexico. But I just got myself stupidly sunk by a "potato" CV because he executed a perfect dive bomber attack followed by a very good TB attack while my damage control was down. Stats really aren't everything!- 306 replies

So people won't build AA builds... So CVs will get played. So people will take AA... Until it reaches an equilibrium.
-
I still bet the net effects of all this will be small, but individual experiences will be very divergent - like a CV player coming up against a full AA build CA and having a nasty time... While completely overlooking the "non AA Cleveland" that didn't shoot his planes down anymore. But we shall see

Massive lag? Friday 5/2-2016
Admiral_noodle replied to Good_Old_Painless's topic in General Discussion
Fine for me apart from one or two lag spikes over the course of an evening. Although I did notice those one or two "glitches" whereas I usually get none. -
Team battles mode: better alternative to Random mode & ranked battles?
Admiral_noodle replied to daki's topic in General Discussion
I agree. Now I just have to organise a team. -
Which forum members have you seen in random battles?
Admiral_noodle replied to Cobra6's topic in General Discussion
I think it is - same username as in his videos anyway. -
Well I was being simplistic. If playing ranked I come with best ship possible - flags, consumables etc. I always play "to win" anyway. But I was talking about not getting overly stressed about your rank - just play and "see how it goes"

0.5.3 Commander Skills - Behind The Scenes
Admiral_noodle replied to karsun's topic in General Discussion
Thank you for the thread. This is a good insight to the changes. I agree with some, have doubts on others but time and stats will tell. I could've wrong Interesting suggestion that CL stats were showing an OK performance but an OP performance for a small population with skilled captains. It's stats like this that are important. Could we have a detailed explanation to the thinking behind the (complicated) AA changes as well? With so many interlocking changes in that area it's hard to guess what the thought process behind it was although I have some ideas. But getting an insight there would be good too -
Well. RU are giving more people more time to get the reward. That's not a bad move. If they are selling the reward too they should have continued to sell it *after* the contest so people could see if they won and then buy it if not. Otherwise *that* would be a poor move.

(Switch it off)

If you just play it as 7v7 random and completely ignore the ranked part it's ok
-
This is kinda my point. You CAN make an OP AA Cleveland or any us cruiser. But would you really? If a CV meets one it will hurt. But it's so niche and situational I doubt I'll build an AA specced us cruiser. Not even the possibly OP Des Moines. I'd be irrelevant in so many games. Same for Germans. I kinda want last stand on them as they break all the time.

Can someone explain this please
Admiral_noodle replied to Doughnut_Jimmy's topic in General Discussion
I sank 3 DDs with My Arkansas in a recent game because no one else was. It's quite amusing to get set upon by 3 DDs then take them out one by one while they miss with torpedoes. The trick is to run away from DDs and get them to chase you while you pummel then with HE and secondaries. While weaving. I must have annoyed them. Surprised I didn't see "BB OP pls buff DD" thread In a cruiser I always switch to a DD if it pops up. More XP to be gained. -
Useless Complaints From Noobs About DD "Buffs" and Mogamis
Admiral_noodle replied to MS_Surface's topic in Destroyers
On the "Des Moines shoots down 1 t10 plane per second" - only if properly tricked out, which will be rare - only if you get close enough to the DM and actually decide to stay there. I had a fully tricked DM on PT vs 2 carriers. Only managed 23 plane kills (to a Hindenberg with 100!) Because I had to leave my station to sink 2 DDs. So +1 op. Lots of theory based complaining. If cvs be one unplayable or dull at t10 WG will re rebalance. But so many changes right now their interlock is so great I can't reliably predict anything. -
This suggests to me that there are so many tweaks the *net* effects will be small, but individual builds and tactics will be more dominant. Now it's less ship more the way you build it with skills and upgrades. If you fully tool up a Cleveland for AA it will be an AA monster - more so than now. But if you don't it will be weaker than now. If if to go fully AA you're sacrificing *a lot* to do it.

wtf wargaming patch 0.5.3 = cv is ded
Admiral_noodle replied to U156dasboot's topic in General Discussion
I suppose I'm confused how I came second. There was no capping. -
Thats one good game. Why even bother with a cost.

You could technically destroy a battleship with petrol bombs and Molotov cocktails. If you had enough and the crew was asleep.
