Now if someone showed me a graph of WR vs. How top tier they were then that would be evidence of one of the patents. (I'm sad. I did this. I recorded WR and recorded if I was top or bottom tier or mid and by how much. I can confidently say over my smallish sample size I got no positive correlation. In fact the more I lost the more I was bottom tier. WG MM seemed to hate my Nagato )

Checked your stats. 40% win rate over last 10 games. 60% over 200. 64% over last 312. So I can see you've likely had a worse run than you are used to of late. This isn't statistically unlikely at all. Your WR dropped 1%. Not unlikely. Also you picked "madness over pearls" period, which did seem to make some players behave strangely and I had more one sided games than usual. Both ways. Because people were mission completing and let games get away from them. There is nothing at all in your stats that suggests anything other than random MM. In fact, a complete lack of *pretty much everyone* noticing such "trends" pretty much tells me all I need to know. I had a 43% WR after 300 games. Now I have a 57%. Reason = I got better.

shouldn't Captains be given a visible rank status under their name in battles? so that all the noobs can stop given out BS strategy plans?
Admiral_noodle replied to Maston_1's topic in General Discussion
Pros. Er. Yeah ok. My stats are better when I play alone though. So "divisions help your stats" isn't always true. -
I think WG will play be the rules (which they've written) and just let it play out.

Ways of Encouraging Teamwork.

Doesn't ring true to naval combat though for me. I'm not a fan of the "heal" or speed boost to other ships. However, you might be onto something about increased/decreased RNG for cruisers near BBs. How about "comms" - when in close formation you get better detection/rendering Better RNG when close to friends. But won't that just lead to clumping? Hmmm -
Sink the wows-stats (XVM for warships)
Admiral_noodle replied to MADcompany's topic in General Discussion
Because of the 5% of players who are arseholes who ruin it for everyone else. That's why. To to be honest XVM ought to be behind the scenes in game. It ought to blend teams to an "average" level of stats like it does with tiers. Then if people knew there were the same number of potatoes on both sides they might whinge 10% less.- 306 replies

I don't have to. The MM is random until WG say it isn't or there is some evidence to suggest there is some kind of "help you to win more/give you more of s challenge" process at work. The games I get in and the overall pattern of people's win rates matches exceptionally well to a random MM. Ergo I suspect it is random. If it's not totally random then the patent wasn't very good
-
Please don't bring "the patent" up. I read it. It describes multiple possible ways to adjust MM to give consistent winners more of a challenge and consistent losers a break. They are also incompatible with each other, and based mainly on whether you will be top tier or not. Also a patent does not mean it's in game. A patent is there to say "it's my idea" so someone can't run off and profit out of it. WG have never said any of the patents are in play. As they are (in my view) very reasonable ideas which should positively impact gaming inexperience it's illogical to think they are in play and WG is hiding the fact. Besides, the patents don't "rig MM so you win / lose" at all, and are questionable at times as to whether they would be worth the effort (making you too tier if your a potato might actually make things worse)

Premium repair, premium heal. It's worth it. You make more money by spending the 45k I've found.

Chance of a ten game losing streak is about 0.001. If 25,000 people are online and play ten games about 25 will have a ten game loss streak. Every night this will happen A brilliant player is *slightly* less likely to be one of those players. Similarly you should expect ten losses in a row for every 1000 games on average. 2 such runs isn't unlikely either!
-
It's totally statistically possible, even likely. You just don't grasp statistical concepts. And you're not alone. It's disheartening to see people think MM is rigged because they have a bad run. I wish I knew how to show how losing say ten games in a row even if you're great isn't at all unlikely with a random MM - which it is. It would save people so much angst
-
This will happen with anything. Everything gets dull after a while. I still love playing the game though. But I don't play every day so I build up an itch Also with so many ships in port there are many itches. And I've just started cv and DD again. When more lines come I'll have even more. I think the trick is to leave it. Don't play for a week.check the page every WEEK not every 15 mins!

Admiral_noodle replied to Maston_1's topic in General Discussion
Its also possible they are a bad shot, don't know how to angle or can't pilot their ship very well, but are tactically gifted. Unlikely though. -
Or charge for them
-
No harm in practicing in coop either. You will learn aiming and angling but not so much strategy.
-
I like the random detonations. They enhance the feel of a naval battle because they happened. No RNG either? Every hit the same damage? No random fires? Not really a sea battle game for me if you take out the random explosions. I would like a more dramatic boom! Effect though. Mushroom cloud, booming noise. Something you can see from across the map.

Tirpitz isn't a battleship. She's an oversized cruiser. Well that's how I play her anyway and get decent results. Not spectacular damage (apart from my all time record, which is with tirpitz) but decent wins. I do find I switch a lot between HE and AP. I even torp She seems fast and manouverable. Very good reload. Not great accuracy or penetration so sometimes HE really is better. She's not a sniper not really a brawler. But versatile. She can do anything in a pinch, but don't go toe to toe with other BBs you'll probably lose in a fair fight. So don't play "fair". Use cover, use speed, work in groups. I prefer her to NC though.

We got to win rate again then. Solution. When giving advice e plain your reasoning. Keep it simple. State facts. People will listen more. Explain why ideas might be bad. Politely. With facts. -
I will be having at least 20 games in coop before I go out solo in random. Might get a buddy to help me but the highest tier DD I've had is a tier III...

what is your biggest flaw in wows?
Admiral_noodle replied to Dippypiece's topic in General Discussion
Oh yes. Greediness. I'll just stop my turn so I can shoot that cruiser *gets citadelled* -
I bought a Langley to CV and I have DDs too. But I was too scared to take them out in randoms. Just look at my coop stats!! Still, it got me to buy them and play. Even if it was coop.

This is getting beyond a joke now.
Admiral_noodle replied to _x_Acheron_x_'s topic in General Discussion
Hmm I wouldn't be upset by this result. Look you "won". Top of the list! I'm never upset by a loss if I come top. -

Admiral_noodle replied to Dippypiece's topic in General Discussion
Actually WR obsession is a problem of mine. It's a very important stat. Over the last few hundred games I'm consistent at around 60% and this has pulled my overall WR to about 56%. However last session I won 3 in 8. I immediately got concerned. My "flaw" is not realising that WR over 8 games is meaningless and that its long term WR that matters! -
Finally ive got it to show 9.072m As I'll be playing later I'll be adding another 20 this evening. I don't think we will hit 10m today though. All in all I am very satisfied with this event. It's been the best WG have come up with so far and mostly enjoyable. Its also got sone of my friends back into playing. I particularly liked the personal milestones you could achieve like flags and cammo. I also liked the XP missions and the ship/tier missions. I'm not a fan of the "kill X ships". Killing DD on cruiser is an "ok" mission but I would also like to see more variety in missions and ones that don't "promote kill stealing" such as cap resets, DD cap missions, Bb damage missions.

I admit it. I am a torpedophile. Confess ur best derps!
Admiral_noodle replied to SkullFox's topic in General Discussion
I'm bad with torpedoes and hardly ever use them with my cruisers. I consider myself a torpedo dodging expert though
