I use it on my German cruisers. Mostly because I know plunging fire will kill me. I need to know if I'm being sniped. Sometimes I'm "busy" and don't want to worry about dodging for the sake of it. And yes. RNG will make you crazy if you let it. So do dice based games. I play a lot of those though so I'm totally used to "RNG". I just see a battleship as a 3+ to hit. 4+ at long range and 6s cause citadels (such a geek)

Is a premium carrier needed in Wows?
Admiral_noodle replied to Gefreiter_Fritz's topic in General Discussion
Ooh ooh this! RN, different, armoured deck style, smaller load out, tier VI -
To be honest all or a lot of high tier DDs have decent torps. Dodging torpedoes is part of the game and fun. *only* dodging torpedoes while being unable to shoot at anyone because neither side will close due to torps is boring - actually doesn't happen to me that often but it means basically your own DDs aren't doing their job (or cv if you have one). Of course I also need to try something when I see walls of torpedoes. Disengage and go somewhere else on the map!
-
Not always though. If the enemy has incoming fire alert, fire one gun, see him commit to a turn, compensate and fire the rest to OP. You kind of have to live with the frustration or not play BBs. I can't cope with the panic feeling in DDs or the rage of missing a torp drop in a CV so I only play cruisers and battleships. RNG I can cope with

I can understand it but to be a good bb player you need to over come the frustration, not "expect" your salvo to be awesome and just get used to it. The nuking times are worth the frustration Being a BB player is all about "risk management". If you absolutely need to make a super salvo then you've probably got yourself in too deep (or your team have derped)

Dodging torps all game and being unable to close and play the game *is* boring. I imagine being perma spotted in a DD *is* boring. That doesnt mean it's not balanced. But "world of torpedoes" isn't a game I want to play so I am: - not playing my Iowa much - going to fit out my NO as a DD hunter - going to try to play us DDs so I can go kill torpedo boats

Nurnberg is very easy to citadel with plunging fire. Pensacola is very easy to citadel. Pensacola has better AA and better guns but Nurnberg had that rate of fire and torpedoes! Pensacola is actually more manouverable. Overall I would go Nurnberg. I've got up to New Orleans in us cruisers and to be honest I rarely play her. Can't see why I would.

Ah the team build meta. This is what I was looking forward to in team battles. Reminds me very much of the list building you do in tabletop Wargames. Sadly I haven't managed a team game yet so I can't give advice. I am wondering if a bb + DD build would counter the ca wolf pack. DD used to spot and harass with torps while BBs attempt to wreck the cruisers, who ought not to be able to close. As for atago, it's simply the best tier 8 cruiser all round - which is ideal for this meta.

It would be nice if MM tried to balance divisions next. It doesn't and should.

Some interesting info around the world

Incidentally stats of imperator aren't the problem I don't think. On paper she's "ok". Really vulnerable to torpedoes I've found. The "problem" is that she is ridiculously easy to play. Those 3 forward turrets actually encourage bow on angling, which means even "bad" players accidentally do well in her -
English speaking or not the biggest problem I have is only having 2 hands. Those F keys are actually useful. If I try to type things during battle I may crash or run into torpedoes etc.

Just had a very odd bug. Port wouldn't load so clucked battle. That wouldn't load either. I tried to exit the game. That would let me either. Had to hard reset my PC

8th of March free premium ship for a female player
Admiral_noodle replied to 22cm's topic in General Discussion
...right. Ok. I get it. Didn't know there was one. The reason why there is one is to highlight ongoing oppression of women around the globe. Interestingly *no women have replied to this thread*. Well so far. I don't think. Not having a girlfriend isn't relevant [edit] oh c*** Mother's Day! -
This is a silly topic. If you see me in a bb double citadel a cruiser, please finish him off for me. I'm here to deal damage as s battleship. I'll only "kill secure" if I gave a gun cool down and nothing else to shoot. As a cruiser kill stealing (or finishing enemies) is the point!!

8th of March free premium ship for a female player

Sexist, potentially patronising and more than a little concerning... Why exactly? Are we running these for all under represented groups in wargaming? -
Who cares about OP/UP anyway. Fun is what counts. Facing nothing but torp walls isn't fun, and a reason I don't enjoy playing tier 8+ as much as tier 4-8. Playing in a game where you feel irrelevant and dodging torps waiting and hoping for other ships (like your own DDs) to scout out the enemy and tiring. And not really much fun.

Trying to rationalize: Played well but still lost 11 out of 13 games...
Admiral_noodle replied to Leo_Apollo11's topic in General Discussion
It isn't trying. It doesn't need to. Random MM will deliver "close to" 50% WR anyway. Given enough time. This is why WR only varies between 40-60% in general. Divisioning helps boost your WR (assuming you're all good) but you're only 1 player out of 12. 8 games out of 10 are just going to be wins or losses whatever you do. You're clearly having all the losses in one ship Stop looking. It's like weight loss. Check WR after every 20 games or more. -
Secondary Shell Hits Banner/Ribbon

Well there is "dreadnought" for BBs. People should aim to get that. Might be nice if there was an "honourable sacrifice" award for dying epically. Like - do more damage than your HP by some margin or have more than X players land y hits on you. -
So we got back to this again. Awesome My karma is now 15 but: - I don't seem to get notifications on compliments - my karma jumped by +3 in one game where an opponent told everyone to report me for "cheating" in Murmansk - I guess people compliment when salty people rage in chat to report you. Which is nice
-
Suggest there might already be a thread about shima in destroyer section. Anyway your problem was taking the 4 torps. Try not to
-
So I created a team. So if you're in a team I now can't play as a merc without leaving me team? And it doesn't warn you? That is extremely bad if true.

I like strait even in a bb. Even a slow one. Do not sail to the edge at the start unless you a) have the numbers advantage and b) you have guaranteed support, like a division. If its domination I like to position myself with an escape route and a place I can cover two caps. I will admit to running off and abandoning a Wyoming to its fate in Murmansk today. We had 4 ships on our spawn. We defended long enough to slow the superior event forces (who went to the edge of the map) before running down to the other side to complete the annihilation of their southern spawn. The Wyoming - the only bb in our north spawn didn't get the memo and went north to the map edge. He died to the enemy but we won handsomely. A worthwhile sacrifice. However the Wyoming player didn't think so and raged in chat. I kinda felt bad, because none of the 3 of us (all cruisers) said we were going to leave. It was obvious to anyone looking at the map. He shouldn't have gone north. But I should have pointed this out...

THANK YOU WG, for the wonderful weekend

Firstly red text is for mods only Re: Cleveland. Well a friend of mine says since the aft nerf Cleveland is much more fun as it can be used as a DD hunter and brawler/ambusher. Use terrain, get close. No opinion on aim assist. You can't tell if someone is a good shot or using a cheat. I got reported apparently by a Myogi who didn't like my Murmansk raining fire on him (demolitions expert). Apparently setting that many fires is cheating -

Oh yes. If you've been upgraded and your router is old you might have issues. We were warned when we upgraded but the router is new evough to be fine.
