The Kirov wrecks cruisers and fast in a way Murmansk never will. But it can't be alone and even if it's not it just dies. Murmansk is more reliable. It's also more fun tier V cruiser fun scale 1 Murmansk 9/10 2 Omaha 8/10 3 Koenigsberg 8/10 4 Furutaka 6.5/10 5 Kirov 4/10

Fire ... fire!? FIRE! FIREEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE!
Admiral_noodle replied to Fonfalks's topic in General Discussion
Subjectively I've not noticed any increase or decrease in fire in the year I've been playing. -
Forgot to add there may be NDAs at work to not give competitors the jump... I mean look at the rollercoaster tycoon world / planet coaster debacle. You have to also think about what your competitors will make of your comms. But "we plan to release a line or two every 3 months" would be nice.
-
Communicating like that is very very hard. It requires total dedication and is a full time job to manage just the comms. Probably multiple if you have to translate as well. And it generates some good will, but little direct profit. It's not surprising companies usually just don't bother. I think they underestimate the value of good will... It can be done. A dev blog with an "aspirational schedule" which gets updated honestly "this cruiser lines release has gone back due to problems on test sorry guys!" Can be managed. You can even colour code with a likelihood of hitting the date. And show dates moving around. Don't just say "RN cruisers in August" then in July suddenly move the date to October with no reason. Publish weekly... Gah. I do this for a living so "easy for me to say"
-
Grinding all the lines does make you a better player. For the record I love the Kirov guns and hate the ship. I've seen people (friends) get great results one game followed by appalling ones with no real reason due to being citadelled. Against them I've hit Kirovs for 5k damage with AP, heavily angled... In a Murmansk. If a Kirov is in range I load AP and farm damage. It almost feels wrong.

I suspect 80% of MM complaints could be addressed with simple MM changes. DD balancing (one side is not allowed x2 DD of the other) Top tier of each class must be matched at least once. Might affect wait times but would stop the "2 Yamatos does not equal 2 Zao" complaints. -
Ah. Majority of games ruined then. Another reason not to play WoT (as well as *I suck*)

In WoT though that's still what 30 people? I bet only 2 or 3 whine. That's a minority. Still too many and still makes me sad

I play "nowhere to run to" by Martha and the Vandellas when playing my newly radar equipped Nee Orleans

But this is only a problem at tier 8+. Lower tiers are fine and fun. And where I play. I'm not playing high tiers much until it's more fun. Mind you I need to get NO out and practice radar. -
This is the problem. It's not even most people. It's the minority who can't cope with stats who then start mouthing off and ruining it for everyone else.

Battleship players are ruining the mid tier gameplay as much as DDs are ruining high tier.
Admiral_noodle replied to Valinrista's topic in General Discussion
I think the stat comparing is missing the point. The question is "is it fun?" - and below tier 8 i would say yes. There isn't a class which can't do things and impact the game. I am happy enough feeling like I can carry in a New Mexico or a Murmansk, and I know ppl can carry in mid tier cvs and DDs. At high tier I would say no. It doesn't feel fun, and I don't feel like I can carry in Iowa or New Orleans (my highest tier ships). Maybe I'm playing wrong/need to learn, but bumbling around at the back waiting for someone to do something is depressing. At mid tiers I don't feel like BBs or any class are ruining the game - or rather ruining my fun... -
Funny that I hardly if ever encounter this particular issue. But yes. Huge imbalances in DDs are just daft.

But +/-2 isn't bad with most ships. It's just those odd few that can't cope being up tiered +2 which really annoys. I still feel like 19/20 games are fair MM wise though. -
Seems you die a lot and don't do a lot of damage vs. the average. But the good thing about knowing your stats is realising you can improve that's what happened after I found mine shortly after coming on the forum. But in game I wouldn't want ppl to judge people on stats... And then not help them because they are "bad". Or focus allegedly good players on the enemy team. That's kind of unpleasant

Try warships.today for a rating. But that's very damage focussed. I looked. Your rating is 896 which is just below average (based on server stats). so the question would be, with that knowledge, what do you want to do about it? Does it matter to you? And thats the problem with stats. They should matter to you only. Not everyone on your team so they can complain about it.

I feel that pain. It's so annoying. Oh bottom tier again. But I feel obligated to play as well as I can in those situations. I just have to remember I'll be too tier as often as bottom. Just doesn't feel that way. Worst is St. Louis or Bogatyr on ocean in a tier V game -
Oh true if it gets to shoot it's an absolute monster. Citadels for everyone! But it's so situational it's just unpleasant to play. I've seen kirovs get 100k damage easily, if the enemy team are stupid enough not to focus it as soon as its detected.

but to be honest cumulative damage to the ships overall structure is going to eventually sink it. Or render it useless -

Well. Let's face it. Having "pride" in anything which is designed specifically to kill and maim is slightly morally questionable, so let's not judge -

"Dwindling numbers" arguments aside (holidays, other game releases etc etc) I will agree that: including the RN, French, Italian navies, and putting in historically significant ships/trees would indeed see an increase in player numbers. "Play WoWs and command the might Littorio/Ark Royal/Bretagne/Bismarck" etc is going to grab attention more than "play the Moskva which you've never heard of because it didn't exist". Like, the Kirov annoys me so I'm unlikely to persevere with her. But if it was a historically important ship I would make her work somehow! So yes. More content please. As always. -

Admiral_noodle replied to Valinrista's topic in General Discussion
I understand your points but respectfully disagree. For me this would make the game 50% more boring and less of a naval game. Randomness and bad luck was part of naval warfare. I want "hood"/"Bismarck" moments in the game. Otherwise it becomes samey. Sure I like the competitive aspect, but I like the lucky moments as well. That's just me though. If all the changes above were made I'd probably not be as motivated to play. I like thinking "there's always a chance. I might detonate/multiple citadel him..." -

Agree in principle. However WG need to be careful to ensure the player base is there at high tiers. there has to be something to grind for. Paper designs are ok if they were ever seriously considered. Like the conceptual British BBs. Trouble is some of those are still classified -

1 - it's not just WWII it's WWI to post WWII 2 - it's a Belorussian company. Why wouldn't they want to strongly represent their own heritage (real and made up). If it was a British company... Hmm my analogy is going to go wrong because we always have a lot of ships tanks and planes. OK world of racing cars. I'd expect British bias RN will come. People have no patience these days but there is an obvious problem. The RN had lots of ships... But none were really that good. We could have floods of tier 1-7 but tier 8+? Struggling a little! And then whatever is left out will cause moaning. RN is probably the hardest tree. I'd be leaving that one a while too. -
Your stats do suggest that your having fun with your tier Xs anyway. Whereas my pitiful damage stats with Iowa and NO show how much I'm "enjoying" higher tiers. I think I need help
