Don't forget to put as many points into ASW measures, as fighting subs is the main job for DDs nowadays...

Could I rather have 'xXx-Super-Unicorn-1337-sniper-hero-xXx' instead? -

Tier 10 is boring - thoughts on why
Deckeru_Maiku replied to Pukovnik7's topic in General Discussion
My example was the scenario I described happening more often than the "backsnipe player winning the battle" scenario. Doesn't mean it have to be the same players all the time. Yeah, because there's no inbetween... Nah, at low tiers I usually just charge ahead guns blazing and attack the sh*t out of the campers, who play like they have seen it in U-toob T10 Battle Videos... Several reasons... I hate the passive meta at T10, so I play very little battles there. And I only play ships I enjoy playing, not just those that "are officially good ships". And yes, I play too aggressively at higher tiers, because I hate that "camp your island waifu until someone moves" meta. Doesn't mean I rush ahead blindly, but as my time for playing is limited I rather go down in a blaze of glory, hoping to get some people to support my attack (or make use of my spotting, when playing DD), then wait for them managing to locate their testicles on their own. It has the added benefit that I can get in another battle with one of my other ships faster... Which lead in total to me playing very, very, VERY little battles at T9/10 and only slightly more at T8, as I tend to end up as the lone T8 in a T10 battle too often for my taste. Yepp... the only reason why I play mostly T5 to T7 instead T8 to T10. Not a preference for certain ships - Krispy Kreme for example... utterly OP that little one... - or just the wish to have a fun and action filled battle, instead of watching the waifu I've parked behind for 12 minutes, waiting for the opponents to make an error... -

I get cautious when I see names with "leet speak" in them... like C00lt4nk names that derived from video games and/or movies names that clearly show that the player failed at World of Tanks before coming to WoWs all military ranks, but usually the non navy ones are worse otaku style names certain nationality abbreviations or country names anything contains letters -
except they do with their presence alone, as potatoes will go "Oh my (insert deity of choice here), there's a sub out there somewhere, so I have to play extra defensive to nit get torped by it... so I better stay way back and ignore all the enemies that go for the caps... rather lose the battle than get sunk... lets hope our DDs do their job and hunt that sub..." etc etc...

I took the time to read the first post of the thread and can say that nothing of this was mentioned in that post and therefor can't be really the topic of this thread. What I showcase there is a slightly better than average player, who get's teamed up with a bunch of potatoes most of the time (of which many decide to play too defensively and/or hug the lower map edge), which hurts his winrate horribly, so he will surely never reach unicorn levels. Many questions arise... would the outcome would have been any different when it had been a 46% potato in your side's team who decided to suicide like that? Or a 50% slightly above average player on a bad day? would the outcome for your team would have been any better if that 40% winrate DD player had decided to camp the lower map edge instead of suiciding like described? what has the example to do with the topic (see first post of the thread)? Between only you and me, it is. -
And again being german makes it difficult for me to understand what is supposed to be wrong with a Käseigel (except of it being an outmoded food concept from the 50's)?!?

Well, might be that I encountered that "skewed scenario" a couple times too often... compared to the "the potato at the back of the map ending on the end of the battle result list winning the battle..." scenario. -

I'm not competitive to play clan wars, as that would call for me playing at times at which I don't want to play and with ships that I don't want to play with. And I tried ranked a couple times... can't say I saw a big difference to average random battles, with less fun so I have no intention to go that way again. A ship dead, after sinking three enemy ships after taking a cap and ending in the battle results at #1 is for me a lot more valuable in the battle than the camping potato lobbing long range shots into the water while the enemy takes back the only cap the other team had taken (see sunk ship above) even if he manages to survive the whole 20 minutes a battle could take (although of course due to not competing caps it will end with a one-sided win after 10 minutes or so..) So no, living potato on the map edge does not automaticly trump a dead ship... I guess the only way I could be able to "enlighten you" would be to set you on fire... nonetheless, look up a couple lines for a possible answer. You just described "Things one sees all the time when playing random T10 ships (or rather: T8+ ships that end in T10 due to effing stoopid game design all the time)" from my experience. Usually from players on my team, while the enemy doesn't play like potatoes and wins the battle... -
unless, of course, you like their cows too much, I bet..

Being german, I really don't understand what would be the problem there... for me english and dutch are nearly the same language anyway...

It's a fact that better players don't play so risky at T10. Potatoes at T10 play too passive. I expect you to know the difference On the other hand ships at lower tiers are offer a lot more forgiving gameplay for inexperienced players, so aggressive play would be rewarded there. But too many players try to learn their "how to play WoWs" by watching T10 battle videos on u-toob and learn to how to play passive by that... So... Yeah, T10 players are the root of all evil... -
....unless you choose a ship that really absolutely nobody else does play.

So after all that... interesting... talk about the quality of T10 players you come up with the example for an average T10 player? Noice... -

& I LOVE people who want to assure themselves that they are always "up against the best players in the game at T10" to make themselves feel better then the rest of the plebs... Each and every potato with enough endurance can (and will...) reach T10 after spending enough money or time and dying his way up. Reading the forum and watching players in T10 battles (yes, I played some... even though mostly in T8 or 9 ships) not knowing even the most basic basics shows it... Nope... it's because there are so many effing bad players at T10, who usually not even have the excuse to be new to the game... except when they bought up their way up... -

Don't worry, they will get stuffed down your throats just like CVs.. so just bend down and... uhm... swallow? -
Just stop feeding it...
-
Time to take a slightly longer break from the game, I say.
-
Darn...you beat me for that...
-
Aren't the only CVs without infinite amounts of planes those controlled by potatoes or the "I got to catch each puff of smoke" elite?

I do soooo love your childlike optimism... Just give them the same mechanism and times that DDs have for their smoke... no replenishment, just a cooldown - like DDs have for smoke - and Bob's your uncle...
