Easy solution: just dodge...
-
I played - for research only of course - reeworked CVs a bit. Including Ryujo. And I met quite a few T8 that were "no fly zone" ships earlier during that time... Even I learned how not to attack them and to go for easier targets, but only because I am lazy and because of most of the time the ain't high on the priority list of targets anyway... And yes, a Cleveland can melt T6 CV planes... but it also can - as in RTS times - get baited into using it consumables and is not much more dangerous than the average T8 cruiser after that for T6 planes... like... just an agent target. I can do it... and by ElRaZeR's standard I am only a potato in reeworked CVs... so, @Pikkozoikum, what - except a liar - makes that of You?

Wow... yeah, your ability to twist reality to make it fitting to what You think is uncomparable... Laughable, but uncomparable... -

So, how is that to make You less stupid? I guess it is a smart phone, right? Dude, it was about killing a HIGHER tiered DD in a (T10) Zao and that would be problematic... Thought I try to explain it to You, as You seem to make a habit out of missing obvious things... or ignoring them... or whatever.. Which, in the end, would matter sh*t, as it's not the kill that gives the exp, but the % damage... why - as see it - spamming HE is probably most frustrating thing to do, as the "burned" HP can usually healed quite well, which then - as I understand it - raises the HP pool of the target and lessens the "effective" - considering the "exp for damage ratio" - damage done for the people damaging this ship. Or do I get the mechanic wrong here? Of course nearly no player really understands this all exp mechanics work... considering that there seem to still be tons of players that think taking less damage would also mean having to pay "lower repair costs", especially among the "muh big boom BB ship" -

Deckeru_Maiku replied to thiextar's topic in General Discussion
Even though that is it true, is not a reason to not try to keep it from happening. I don't understand why people are happy with just "grinding" in a game, without been able to achieving something really meaningful/funny/important/(insert anything of worth here). And it's nice for YOU that stuff like this keeps YOU interested. But people are different, y'know... some might have to have higher expectations on games ^^ Like... expecting fun and engaging gameplay... Balanced game mechanisms and stuff -
Haven't looked too close at those changes coming, but from what I read it looks as if BabyAtlanta aka Krispy Kreme will be heavily nerfed when (if?) AFT gets removed from the Cruiser Skill Tree. So I only can hope that You don't restrict Your "efficiently watching" and "adjusting" to T10 or BaBBies, but also check for other problems coming with this ReeeeWork 2.0.. Oh.. and of course I have to add: Give spotter plane for Krispy Kreme plz!!!

& And luckily we have the option to hide it in battle (even on enemy ships), so we can keep our eyes from starting to bleed... ^^ -
Yeah, seems You miss the context... So I try to give it to you really sloooow... might be that it helps the shown bad player was not in DFens_666's team DFens_666 is not a bad player DFens_666 was punished by this enemy player the player of the CV in DFens_666's team was - as to be expected - in no way involved in this, as allied CVs have no way whatsoever to keep enemy CVs to "punish" someone (except themselves because CV..) Conclusion: an obviously f*cking bad CV player can cr*p on a good player's surface ship and there's not much to be done against it. Especially not by the allied CV player. Even that one would like to help. Conclusion 2: a Unicorn CV player in the enemy team cr*ps harder on surface ship players than a potato one. And it's not dependend on the quality of the CV player in the opposing team Conclusion 3: the skill gap is still there - it's just only about can cr*p harder/faster as the element of CVs interactingwith each other got removed Conclusion 4: Your argumentation is faulty, or, in the worst case, intend to hide the reality, which would mean that El2aZeR is right when writing
-
Well, WG would say that they achieved their goal, because at least there are some more average and a shipload of terrible CV players in the game... okay, mostly at T4, but hey, more is more, right?
-
Wow... Seems I'm lucky that I'm not such a good surface player, as I didn't really feel having been "punished" by any CV player - Unicorns exepted, though I rarely met any of them - but only get dealed the proper result for being dumb or doing something dumb... And I can't really say that CV play was "too impactful". Not more than having than 6 potatoes on the team when the enemy team has only 3... so... wouldn't that mean that 3 potatoes had as much impact as an CV? On the other hand, now, after the reeework, I really have the feeling to get punished by CVs... good ones, bad ones... deserved or not... just because they just can attack me without having any chance to keep them from it... But I guess that is what You expect to be "a good change" in the game?

What Were Your Greatest Gaming Achievements Today ?

Tsk... it's a well known fact that there ain't no females on the Internet Met two with that intent in my Yahagi today... I must say, I didn't expect to Warspites to burn that nicely (mine usually doesn't ) Hah! Even managed to get +2 Karma from my teammates for a battle in my Furios today... So now I got +1 Karma (for a while, I guess...) And everybody wondering how 0 +2 make 1... well... I guess one of the two DDs (a Maas and an Öland (!)) which I sunk wasn't so happy about my gameplay... As Y'all can guess by me mentioning playing my Furious, my daily Ranger battle was a win. It was a nasty battle though. T6 battle and I got a skilled team, which lead to enemy ships getting sunk so fast, that I nearly hadn't much chances to do much... I got DD sunk, a total of 19k damage and only an "average" 1.3k PR... well, at least a win... That Furious battle was quite different.... T8 battle with only a few T6s thrown in. So at the start I went for spotting enemy DDs, but my team wasn't that eager to sink them. When the enemy team was ahead caps 2:1 and ships 10:8 I changed into "get at least some damage" mode... Shortly after that our right flank broke, while our left flank managed to rout their opponents, and pushed in the middle to engage the enemy... as we lost sight of the Öland I ran north along the western map edge, when I got the message that my ship was spotted. So I knew where that Öland was and set out to get it... which I did after one attack with rockets and an unaimed torpedo* In the middle my teammates had taken position and I went spotting for them, directing fire on enemy ships down on HP. And shortly later were ahead on Caps, points and ships left... So I took some time to go hunting for the Maas, and managed to it too... Got me a "GJ Furious" from my team, 57k damage, 2 sinkers and a 2.5k "SuperUnicum" (???) PR... With my Yahagi I ended in a T6 battle and had to some tough kiting, when I had to retreat from a cap that my team couldn't hold. Luckily our Ryujo decided too late to retreat and did a bit nice damage against the two Warspites chasing me... Out of that (too) late retreat evolved some heavy tanking, while I was free to pepper those Warspites with HE... Shortly the Ryujo went down, I managed to sink one of them, while the other got sunk by one my teammates... and after that there was a race for sinking the last surviving enemy ship - a DD.. I managed to hit it, but the battle ended with a win before it could get sunk... 51k (mostly fire) damage... 1 sinker... 2.7k (superunicum???) PR I had also good battles in my Anshan, Sims and Krispy Kreme (with wins) and a "just for the lulz" loss in my Icarus (in a T8 with a T8 CV against me) in which I spend the first 7 minutes spotting for my teammates on the right flank on Two Brothers (standard battle), which did some nice shooting, but wasn't really eager to push, while our other flank got annihilated... Seeing that and knowing how it would end, I decided to go a bit yolo, slipping between the enemy ships in their cap and east of it until I got the enemy CV - a Shokaku - in my sights. Seems he expected his teammates to finish me, but with some skill, lots of luck and wiggling of my behind I was able to get close enough to the Shokaku to release the Kraken my torpedoes against it. And, damn has that Icarus loads of torpedoes... yeah, a sh*tty 7 km range, but, hey, I was close enough to make that not matter anymore... I fired my smoke after releasing the torps (to avoid get sunk before they hit) but still got rewarded with a really nice loud BOOOM! when that Shoggi ate a couple torps... like 6 or so?! When my smoke dissolved there were two cruisers and a BB heading in my direction, like 7 or 8 km away... and yeah, of course they did sunk me... but it was worth it... The battle ended shortly after with the enemy taking our cap... So.. 69k damage done... 1 sinker (T8 CV ) and a (well deserved) 3.5k (SUPERUNICUM) PR Disclaimer: the PR I mention is the "WoWS S&N" PR * Unaimed torpedoes.. when going with torpedo planes that drop only two torps total it sometimes helps to not to wait to get the torpedo spread marker getting too tight when going for a DD. They usually EXPECT the torps to come tightly against them. So sending them at odd angles sometimes (!) proves as a problem for some (!) DD players... like that Öland... -
I agree on lots of what You wrote. But please, to avoid confusion, try to learn the mostly used abbreviations/designations for naval vessels used here: CV - Carrier BB - Battleship CA/CL - Cruiser (heavy/light) or most often just "Cruiser" DD - Destroyer Everytime I see that BS in a text it makes me wonder why Oxen's feces is called upon something ^^

Anectodal evidence much? I can count the times I got one-hitted by RTS CVs in any ship (of any class) on the fingers of my two hands... at least if I forget the - still also rare - occasions where I thought "Oh well, looks like only one torpedo will hit me.. I can take that... Ooops detonation..." Interaction between CVs now are nearly completely zero (mostly...) so in the end the faster killer - which is usually the more skilled player - does better without even having to bother about the enemy CV until the end. During RTS times he had to either take out the enemy CV right at the start - which at least took some time in which the other ships were unmolested - or be on the watch for enemy fighters messing up his attacks and draining his plane resources. So while an Unicorn CV RTS player of course nearly always guaranteed a win over a potato CV RTS player, it at least took him some effort when he was faced was a better than average opponent. And he couldn't just ignore him as he can now... II was no CV unicum in RTS times... still at least until the strafing was implemented - and even for the short while that I played CVs after that - I managed winrates of 58%+ with my T5+ CVs (never was interested in going higher... I knew my skill ceiling even then already...) and I don't remember getting ever outplayed by an enemy CV player without having at least the chance to annoy him at least for a while. Not that I met that many Unicorn CV players - neither in my CVs nor in my other ships - with there seemingly only being a quite low number even then. In the end the reeework did only change the amount whine that gets served. During RTS times it was mostly potato BB players - who whine about about every thing that threatens their ability to straight-sail around the map and go booom-booom with their big guns, but never used to learn the WASD-hack - and the occassional annihilated cruiser that complained about mostly Unicorn CVs, while now it's kinda all players that say reeworked CVs s*ck, except for them CV players that now have a solid base for winrate % and experience... while even several Unicorn CV players agree that the reeework didn't bring anything positive.

Bet You were utterly freaking out from joy when that container opened, right? Finally... 50% winrate in randoms today and not much to brag about... except... Taking my Minekaze out for a ride, and what a ride it was... it started being pushed into a T7 battle. Ah well, Minekaze... they probably thought, What can this puny T5 ship do against me, a mighty T7 BB... Well... Like... shoving 4 torps into Your broadside and taking the last HP left on Your poor Ducky of Yorck and sinking You? Hrhrhrhr I only did measely 19k damage total in that battle. Most of that against that poor helpless straightsailing already badly damaged BB... and still two more ships got sunk by my "puny" Minekaze.. And people fear the Kamikaze? Hah!, I say... I ain't even got a 19pt captain in that Minekaze (only a 10 pts or so one)... Ina battle on more even ground - like as a T5 DD in a battle with some T4 ships, including two CVs per team - I also had a nice battle in my Hill. I had played it quite a bit today in CoOp for missions, so taking her into a random battle and getting a good MM made it feel like CoOp with slightly better bots *cough* One of the two Langley players in my team had written in chat that he had only played it only in CoOp before and this was his first random battle in it and he hoped to not f*ck up... well... it didn't really matter... Yeah, I'm bragging... But I kinda think it's deserved... got 70k damage done and 4 kills done and a 4.5k PR. And probably was one of two players carrying the team to the win... So.. don't let us talk about my other battles today -
WG if you cannot seperate balance from fun to play, then you should shuffle employees
Deckeru_Maiku replied to Pappus's topic in General Discussion
Occasionally getting devstriked vs. getting permantly spotted an/or getting constantly crap on by an endless amount of planes is the choice the surface ship player has.. now let's see what most people would rather endure... Hahahahahaaa... No. The reason why there's such a low number of players playing CVs in high tiers - as there's a shipload of CVs in T4 and now even many in T6 - is that the real potatoes - like me - rather stay in the tiers where they can send an endless amount of planes against helpless victims in stead of having trying to get the skill needed to do the more AA heavy hightier ships. CV player care about responsibility... HAH! Russian bias at work here... "We do have to give the germans a CV line, but lets make it the only kinda balanced one.. can't have them german ships to behave to good after all what they did to mother russia..." ^^ -
Why do I stay in the Gold league?
Deckeru_Maiku replied to StraightUpYourA's topic in General Discussion
This misconception is quite common among a certain type of players. It's the same that also think that "I reached T10, so I have to be skilled" or "T10 battles is the endgame of WoWs" ...and also not by the part of the players that have more than only a limited amount of working braincells. ^^ How would that be negative? Lots of free room for the the natives to repossess... things like some orange politicians won't be an bad example for the population in other countries of the world any longer.. I would wish them "riddance and please never think of returning.." ^^ -
Even though I s*cked at using (and dodging) the strafe mechanism, I never thought of it as bad or unfair. My manual skills weren't just good enough to handle these precise timings needed to get it right. Adding to that, the mechanic itself was sometimes bordering the buggy area, with planes reacting not expected. Might me only my personal experience though. So as I wasn't really good at strafing, I stopped playing the CVs that needed that mechanism to work properly, which I had quite successful before (see below). Even without strafing the mechanics to support allied ships against enemy plane attacks were sufficient (in my opinion...) So for me RTS CVs where way less OP and easier to endure than the reeeworked ones, especially the reeeworked in the end did not change anything to the positive... the skill gap is as big (or bigger) as before, except for it is now even a lot more punishing for the poor little helpless victims. I knew how strafes worked. Still couldn't get them working (see above). Guess being 60 years old and never enjoying all these Jump&Run or 1st person shooters which ask for manual dexterity put me in a bat spot when WG introduced strafing. Didn't want to burden be a team for my teams by not being able to use my planes efficiently, so I only played T4 CV from that point on. Even though they got crippled when the manual drops got removed.

Sooo... You feel dirty now? New Tuesday - new missions... and as I do most of them in CoOp (mostly...) there isn't much to brag about. I mean, in CoOp I got in all classes winrates between 98.91% to 99.51% so winning is to be expected... But still there were the usual suspects to be played. Ranger - got luck and into a T6 battle. Did CV Thingstm (like sinking/spotting DDs first, then turn to mopping up duty) and got even a nice team, which got me 68k damage, 3 sinkers and 3.8k PR The battle in the Furious didn't go that well. T8 battle with only two T6 ships (except the Furry) and a team that did it's best to throw their (digital) lives away... I only got one sinker, 38k damage and had to shoot down 24 planes, as the enemy CV continued to try to snipe me (and failed...) and I ain't good enough to to turn such a battle into a win... But at least I got in a nice T7 battle with my Krispy Kreme... which usually goes better than when I'm high tier in her... as this time... Even though I only concentrated to get some fires going - for mission - I somehow managed to get mostly ignored by all those Big Bad T7 BBs, even then I pestered them with HE shells from max range... (got 8 fires going.. not superb, but okay-ish). The only thing that didn't work out for me, that the battle ended before I was able to farm some more fires (or another kill) on the enemy CV (last survivor of it's team...) as the battle ended vctorious before I got about 10 or 15 hits on it... So only *cough* 86k damage, 2 sinkers and 4.9k PR I promise to try to do better tomorrow... -

The call from the Dark Sidetm gets stronger and stronger... CV Battle(s) of the Day: Ranger... got shoved into a T7 battle (well, what else is new, right?) and got a team that was oblivious to me spotting the enemy DDs at first (well, what else is new, right?) and I lost a point of Karma obviously for playing CV (well, what else... wait a minute... that WAS new... although maybe it was only the first time for me noticing it, due to me usually not having any Karma anyway, except for this time I got a +1 Karma the other day for... wait for it... playing CV) In the end, it's ended with a great win, me doing 103k damage (personal record in Ranger) and taking out 2 ships... one of them a DD, the other some cruiser-ish thingy... and even got me some 4.5k WoWs S&N PR Due to my codex I had to do another CV battle... Furious... turned out a wee bit more interesting, even though I was high tier in that battle. It was Standard mode on Strait map with me on the lower half (enemy cap half) on the eastern side. So it was going past those small islands north to our cap (as that position feels more effective for me). Alas, an enemy DD was allowed to camp the middle of the map - and successfull dodge my attacks mostly - and teammates sunk left and right... in the end though, I got a bit more lucky with rockets and the other three survivors of the team found their testicles and with only one more of them getting sunk we managed to sink the last enemies... I only managed 19k damage, proving I'm kinda useless, but still sunk two enemies close to the end - BB and DD, both with torps *cough* - while surviving with at least 15% of my HP still there... From the six battles I did today I managed to end in the winning team five times and at least three times I consider myself "rightly" on the winning team. -
Idea: Soviet CV Line - Helicopter Carriers
Deckeru_Maiku replied to 1MajorKoenig's topic in General Discussion
In my example? In the smartphone, obviously... -
Well, it's not about YOU being bottom or top... but if the CV you face is lower/same/higher tier than You. Fun fact: I've never had a battle - in no class I play - in which CVs ruined my "game experience" much. They are either a nuisance - when potato - or just take me out of the battle fast, so I jump into the next ship in harbour - when good CV players (which I rarely face in game it seems). Still reeeworked CVs are a pita for the game globally and should be changed...
