Desperately needed, now with that Brexit and shiet... now just let's see where they manage to rebuild their "Empire"

The good thing: The whales doing ox feces like this and continue throwing their money @ WG allow the servers keep running and WG bringing us more interesting and challenging gameplay... The bad thing: We might have the unfortune to have these whales in the game as members of our team(s)

Were the old captain skills too "jack of all trades"?
Deckeru_Maiku replied to Figment's topic in General Discussion
WG managed get away from cookie cutter builds about as much as they managed to close the skill gap for CVs... But, honestly, who had expected they would get it right this time... or at least for once... -
I want the BB's Secondary range to 15km :)
Deckeru_Maiku replied to ImoutoSaikou's topic in General Discussion
Recently I had battles with less than 12 players and more than 5 BBs per team... just today 10 players per team, 6 of these BBs, 1 CV, 2 cruisers and 1 DD... not that funny... If this will become the new average, which I expect as soon as the Italian Stallions BBs hit the MM it's time for a break again, probably... or to take out T4 CVs out a bit to teach the new BaBBies what they have to expect -
I usually don't use things like "challenged" as I prefer to call an idiot an idiot and a potato a potato... still I only got chat banned once (or twice?) only in my career.. So I wouldn't bet on that perman ban for chat... I would probably enjoy it, if it would also mean that I would not have to read all the outrageous BS that so many players write there... And I don't those like the OP, but the more snowflake-ish variety.

Quite, yeah. Alas, as a T6 CV one - or maybe only I? - gets thrown into battles with quite a few T8 ships regularly. So it helps to be a bit careful with choosing targets.
-
As someone who plays CVs at the T6 Potato Level right now it doesn't look as if it's really doing any more problems before. I only get in T8 battles though - while that often - so I can't say anything about the only tier that WG at least a bit cares to balance a little bit (= T10) but with my T6 CV I never got deplaned in battle, if when many T8 ships were present. Okay, I shorten squads at the start and kinda avoid too troublesome targets, but after 10 minutes of HE firing at them most ships have lost enough AA to become targets again.

Business as usual... Starting with the Ranger, getting a T8 battle and a mediocre team - which usually to me playing also only kinda meh-ish... - and had to see them wither away around me, while I tried to achieve something against small clusters of T6/7/8 ships sailing close enough to support each other. So I only managed only two sinkers - just pre-damaged ships and worth nothing - and 54k damage, but I was not able to carry the battle, so it ended in a loss. Just proof that I'm a utter potato in CVs. I might be able to achieve good results sometimes - or more often - but can't support a bad play enough to win against a slightly better team. Might also come from the fact, that I still do not really enjoy playing the reeworked CVs, even when I have a good battle... still I will conclude my research... Apart from this I got the usual mix of good and bad battles... I had an okay-ish battle in my DeadEye Thunderer, did some 91k damage and sunk two enemy ships, but again was not able to carry enough to win the battle... even the player in our team who managed 4 kills was not able to do that though... Battles in my Isokaze, Yahagi and Yubari ended with me getting blapped by the Italian BB from Hell - Dante A. Not a nice experience. Considering that WG thinks that more of these ships will be good for the game makes me - again - wonder how many of the devs really play the game... in anything but BBs... or CVs... probably none... My Ishizuchi on the other hand worked okay-ish against the Dante A. I didn't finish it off, but I got a poor little DD and this and 57k damage was enough to do my part in the win... In the Dunkerque it went even better. Even though I ended in a nasty T8 battle again. But I got lucky and had the better team, so I didn't had to make up for other players mistakes and just "do my thing" which usually - in the Dunkerque - "ignore that it's two T7 BBs you're towards straight ahead and just shell them with AP until you're in secondary guns range and then shoot some more.." which lead to me getting a nice tanking score, 2.7k PR, 71k damage and two sinkers (only one of those BBs though, the second - earlier - sinker was once more a DD) and a win... I also did battles in my Hill - 49k damage, 1 sinker, 2.5k PR - and in my T61 - 111k damage, 2 sinkers (two BBs that thought themselves immune against torpedoes) and 4.99k PR which rounded up my day nicely... All in all, the skill reeework still feals quite unbalanced and sh*tty, but I don't expect WG to act on it and change a thing about it... If the italian BBs turn as toxic as the Dante A. seems, I probably take a really looong break and get my daily dose of frustration in WoT maybe... -
I don't that expect to work... and it would be a total waste to not spend all points available in the secondary guns and survival (as much as is still possible..) Seems btw as if WG really hates CLs... with the new SAPping Italian BBs and probably DE skill one get's a really nice flysquatter to get rid of all DDs and CLs, while also still doing nice damage against all BBs with superstructures that deserve this name... GJ WG or should I say... well played...

Well, might be that being a bit older is enough reason to prefer a wee bit larger minimap. And the fact that it allows to access the informations delivered by it faster. If one thinks can he live with out these informations, than that is okay by me... hopefully I meet him on the opposing team then. Which makes them about usefull as "proof" as all the stuff that some orange skinned ex-president said he had... But yeah, okay, whatever...
-
That would mean the subs would make it to the other side of the map without getting rekt. Which would so much time when doing it dived, that the battle would probably over before they were in torpedo range... making it as about as dumb tactic as BBs shooting from one map edge to the other...
-
sorry, but that minimap is a wee bit on the "way too mini" side to see where you two ver positioned... seems to me you were quite close to that Conqueror... like so close, that when spotted by that Kleber it wouldn't make any difference as if the Monc had DE running or not... But hey, that's only me being the arse again of course...

You DO know that sometimes Your trolling is among the best, don't You?

with no "detected" notification how would would have any use? If not detected, one can not be a target for enemy...

Well, I am utterly prepared to be the arse here, so I do the obvious: Replay or it didn't happen.

And I got in a T8 battle with my Dunkerque and the enemy CV - an Enterprise - didn't ignore me... in fact, I was the first ship he attacked. Luckily he played quite potato-ish even though he had quite impressive stats on the account and on that ship... still he didn't sink me and lost 21 planes in my vicinity (most of those weren't fighters either, but bombers and torpedo bombers...) - alas, he also went for some Graf Spees near me... In the end I DID get sunk, because two Spees, one DD and my Dunke had to hold a flank against 6 enemy ships... I didn't do any sinker, but 60k damage, while the kills were done by those around me... but I did a shipload of tanking before I finally went down in a blaze of glory... And we did win the battle... Didn't get that lucky in my Normandie, though... pushing ahead worked nicely for me, but the potatoes all around me decided to throw their virtual lives away achieving nothing. Add to that a CV who was happily attacking fresh enemy ships instead of going after nearly dead targets - for his skill might have been enough, while he only fed planes to the targets he chose - and even sinking 4 enemy ships, doing 74k damage (2.6k PR) did not prove enough for a win... -

Soo... not sure how the new captain skills are supposed to make medium tier CV lives harder... can't say I notice any difference on either side - CV or surface ship... Daily Ranger battle... I ended up in a good team but a T8 battle. So getting things done was a bit problematic... except for some spotting and a bit molesting of DDs I didn't manage to achieve much.. only 20k damage, no sinkers... but a win... ...which lead to the CV battle 2 - Furious. T7 this time, with a nice bunch of T6 and T5 mixed in. So more targets, easier to attack... and even though I didn't sink any of them - because as soon they took enough damage from me some ally blasted them to the bottom of the sea - at least i gathered 68k damage done in the win... Apart from these, the only battle worth to mention was the one in my Orion (see above). 51 plane kills was a wee bit excessive, I guess... that Rhein and Hosho really seemed to have fallen in love with me. Ok, I *was* kinda trying to invade their private sphere... but that was a bit too much. -
How Wargaming will balance post Commander rework.
Deckeru_Maiku replied to The_Chiv's topic in General Discussion
For me 20% larger spread means a cruiser with 10 barrels can shoot like a shogun at me (in DD) and has a higher % to score a random hit compared to blasting his whole salvo inter the water because of sh*tty aim... So it seems as a great skill when having to face lots of good players with perfect aim, who often more often... but seems a sh*tty skill when you only meet the average potato who now actually score more hits due to shotgun approach... Kinda like Fuso... yeah, might could use Dead Eye on it... one has great aim... if not, don't use DE and play it as the shotgun it's always been... -
Yeah, it might proc all the time... but 8% reload speed for 4 points? You'd have guns with a 12.5 sec reload to gain a 1 second shorter reload. And dependable on visibility (and probably reductions of visibility) which makes it - for me - counterproductive... I prefer to have as low a visibility as possible usually... So yeah, might (!) work on some ships... but with 4 pts I probably rather take a different 4 pt skill instead...
-
My opinion: #1 - Dead Eye: only on Thunderer, as I couldn't stand to waste the points on ships in which I could never make me play that dumb as needed for "effective" use of that skill.. #2 - Super Heavy AP (BB) - not worth the penalty #3 - Super Heavy HE/SAP - not worth the penalty #4 - Heavy AP (Cruiser) okay-ish for Supercruisers and the 203mm Cruisers (I guess...) and I probably use it on those #5 - Outnumbered - bonus not worth the points #6 - Top Grade Gunner - bonus not worth the points... #7 - Dazzle - utterly waste of points #8 - Fearless Brawler - doesn't give a flak blob to ships that don't have any. +5% visibility can be too much. -10% reload can be to little. So most of the time not worth the 4 points #9 - Swift in Silence - +8% (!!!) speed... that takes 35 knots to "stunning" 37.8 knots... for "only" 4 skill points... utterly waste of points. #10 - Extra-Heavy AP (DD) - really? I mean, REALLY??? The only times when AP is worth being to be fired on a DD when You can shoot a RN CL broadside at 5 klicks From my - limited - experience with the different classes and new skills it seems to me that the least f*cked class is CVs with nearly no changes, then BBs with some tough choices, but in fact some easy choices if one doesn't fall for the trap(s). Cruisers lose a lot of flexibility (AFT/BFT etc) and have to choose carefully, to not got trapped. And as to was expected, the DDs get fully shafted, with many builds being rendered useless/impossible and tons of traps to waste points on...

Thunderer and Conqueror with dead eye are killing the game
Deckeru_Maiku replied to Inzight's topic in General Discussion
And the creme on the cake is all those borderhumping Dead Eye BaBBies yelling at Cruisers and DDs to "give them intelligence" - something their parents should have done - and making them responsible for losing the battle by getting sunk... Sooo... In the end: no change to pre reework... I mean Skill Update... -

General Submarines related discussions
Deckeru_Maiku replied to YabbaCoe's topic in General Discussion
Such a relief.. they aren't stubborn, but only incompetent... ^^ Has has been said tons of times already: Submarines only very rarely engaged in what can be called "Naval Battles" They engaged transport ships / convoys and crippled or not combat ready combat ships. The whole concept of submarines taking part in naval battles is flawed and the mechanics - all of them - that WG wants to introduce for them into the game are detrimental to current gameplay. Submarines can work fine in a seperate game mode - missions - in which they are set up to do their historical job... Oh and btw.. submarines DID quite did their attacks on freighters from the surface, using torpedoes or even more often the (usually single) gun they carried for this purpose (due to torpedoes being limited in their arsenal). -
Probably that playing T10 ot even more useless due to "new meta" than already before... Playing medium tier ships today I didn't see a single battle turn out that shippy as Your example.
