I use the autopilot regularly... and today it looks as sh*tty as ever, or maybe even more so, as when adding a second course target spot made my Furious stop, then backpaddle a bit, before then going to full throttle and full rudder... Seems the autotistic pilot has still slight problems to define when an island in 20 klicks distance might or might not be "in the way". Luckily I usually only need to set "full throttle ahead, full rudder left/right" for at least half the battle without having to bother about the autotistic pilot... but when I have, it usually f*cks it up...

You either haven't read much of this thread or have some very interesting views about how this game works. Would You care to elaborate exactly HOW submarines could turn out "a great addition" to the game without breaking it any more like.. maybe... for example... the CV reeework? -

Maybe it should read "Why so many trash skills for all classes?" As for me each class has it's share of useless or (even worse) noob-trap skills, which might look great for the uninformed but in the end don't deliver or outright give a blatant disadvantage. Skill rework was supposed to help get away from the cookie-cutter builds? Yeah, sure... target missed by a mile imho... for DDs I've got exactly two different skillsets: one for DD hunter DDs and one for all the others... and for the other classes it isn't that much different...

No DD player in his right mind - so about maybe 20% of the total DD players - will go hunting subs with CVs looming above, radar Cruisers able to light them up and then the added "oopsie, you got spotted" delivered by sub sonar... As soon as subs hit the random battles, I will camp with my DDs way behing my team's BBs and enjoy all the salt in the chat...

What Were Your Greatest Gaming Achievements Today ?
Deckeru_Maiku replied to Hanszeehock's topic in General Discussion
Had my usual mix of good and bad weekend battles today. So of course I write only about the more impressive ones CV Research Project - Furious Edition: Got a T6 battle with no sinkers, but 63k damage and a 1.8k PR due to spotting etc. ending in a win... Krispy Kreme - got a nice T7 battle with no sinkers, but 41k damage and a 1.9k PR for.. whatever... ending in a win... Oktobryski Relovuzzi - got into a potato battle, managed 72k damage but no sinkers, got a 1.9k PR but couldn't carry enough potatoes, so it ended in a loss... Gnevny - another potato battle, with 52k damage, two sinkers, 3.5k PR and... well, another loss due to uncarryable potatoes... But I also had this one glorious battle that made my day... Enter the Hill... in a T5 battle. The enemy team had a Ranger and a Hosho - yeah, two CV per team battle - and targets everywhere... with lots of pigeons in the air, I hadn't to do any spotting, so I could me nice place(s) to smoke up and go a lot of dakka-dakka-dakka... I managed to take a cap, defend another cap... do a shipload on damage on poor helpless straight-sailing BaBBies that thought themselves immune to HE.. and when only some four enemy ships was left I broke through to the enemy CVs, who for most part of the battle already had tried to sink me, but failed miserably, because they were even on an potato scale level really, really, REALLY bad... So when I got close enough to the enemy CVs to torp them - yeah, with those magnificent 5.5 km range Hill torps! - one of the other two enemy ships had been obliterated by my teammates, and I managed to get the last shot on a helpless BB, denying one of our CVs his Kraken - sorry - and then I managed to get a nice double strike against those two CVs, downing one with torps and the other by taking it's last few HP with some HE shells from <5 km range... 73k damage done... 3 sinkers... doublestrike... 4.3k PR (unicorn level - lol) and 30 planes shot down... all of them Rocket and Torpedo planes... while those CVs did only neglectable damage to me... Could do with a few more battles like that once in a while... -
easy solution: have a limit of 3 BBs for "normal" battles. All the other BBs in the queue that can't get assigned into normal battles go into the "BaBBy Containment Facility" Result: BaBBies busy with BaBBy-things... normal battles still get some phat slowturtle targets to torpedo spam... everybody is happycamper... only with less camping...

You: Texas 54 battles.. max planes killed in a battle: 22 - average planes shot down in battle: 3.98 - total planes shot down in 54 battles: 215 Me: Texas 11 battle - max planes killed in a battle: 39 - average planes shot down in battle: 8 - total planes shot down in 11 battles: 88 NikolayK.: Texas 31 battles - max planes killed in a battle: 16 - average planes shot down in battle: 2.35 - total planes shot down in 31 battles: 73 hmmm... no, not really. Your König has 5.74 planes downed per battle (34 battles..), my Oktobrysky Relovutzki did 3.98 per battle (52 battles), as many as your Texas... Looks all like utterly average and unfilthy results. As do the average 8 plane kills of Your Orion and the 4.75 or 4.4 killed planes each battle by my and your Yubari... And of course shooting down those flying pests can't be considered filthy in any way at all anyway...

Fun fact: You don't really need those camos... Fun fact too: luckily there's supposed an option for other players to turn off the display of these camos of all ships which they meet in battle... so even You deem it necessary to spend money on them, at least You won't damage the visual organs of other players when using them...- 39 replies

Unless of course one is going in T5 Hill in a battle with a T4 CV controlled by an - courtesy of PotatoAlert - obvious potato... then activating AA at 5.8 km can be lead to hilarious results. Like today, when I ended in a battle with a Ranger and a Hosho on the opposing team, who wasted 30 planes on the attempts to sink me, only to get sunk both by me in the end (literally, as the double strike that got them ended the battle...) Yeah... not an everyday thing... but f*cking satisfying when it happens

Is WG's strategy flawed, and actually hurting them?

What's good about Italian battleships?
Deckeru_Maiku replied to Curesto's topic in General Discussion
Haven't had that many random battles with the T4 to T7 RM BBs, but I got some moments when some hapless cruiser managed to show up ~10 km in front of me, going broadside-ish hoping for overpenetrations - I guess - just to get devstriked.. I wouldn't go so far to expect that happening with some regularity, but it's nice to see it once in a while... -
So it wasn't perssonal experience just - like WG - "mighty spreadshiet" that resulted in that slight hyperbole?!?

When one looks at your stats in other ships, it indeed is. And no need to brag - solo You only got 88.89% wr I don't understand those lower stats in the Minekaze though... except for the slower torps it's still close enough to the Kami to wreak havoc... okay, on a lower level in my case (see above) but still...

In no battle in which I a) played my Texas myself b) faced a Texas in my T4 or T6 CVs or c) witnessed an Texas on my own or the opposing team on the battle result screen I ever saw 100 planes shot down by it. Never. My maximum of shot planes down in the Texas is 39 - Yours is a stunning 16. And You had three times the battles in Texas than I Those 39 are 6 more than the maximum number of planes shot down in my Krispy Kreme... just to put it in relation.

Afaik I could hand out 8 (or so?) +1 each day... But... Am I supposed to give +1 for every player who manages to "do his f*cking job"? Or only for the one or two I meet that do better than that? Or for players whose name I know because they are regular posters here on the forum (which I usually do, unless I either don't remember them or forget to +1) and all players of Krispy Kremes, as a reward for showing their masochistic tendencies...

Is WG's strategy flawed, and actually hurting them?
Deckeru_Maiku replied to Hurricane_tb's topic in General Discussion
As long as the number of new cashcows players is higher than the loss of players who already spent a more or lesser large amount of money, WG will be have enough money for vodka and females of negotiable virtue. In fact, a steady number of "replacement players" seems to be the main goal for WG, as - see above - veteran players usually don't spend a lot of money anymore. They are only needed as the examples for the new players what one can achieve by spending enough money - for premium account, premium ships, flags, whatevers - even no amount of money can make a Unicorn out of a potato... but the potatos don't know or at least don't believe that.. so WG will get thrown money at them, until the potatoes finally notice that spending money doesn't has the wanted effect and leave.. and get replaced by the next batch of potatoes... -
it was before the skill reework... must admit, I haven't tried it a lot since then and not really skilled it's captain... still waiting what WG will change without any free respeccs in the skill trees... But while the AA skill setup got changed, I would guess it would be a question of spending a point of 3 more to achieve the same result... My maximum plane kills in the Yubari after her nerf and the CV reeework was 44 btw. Which is 7 less than the max plane kills in my Orion Some CV players just don't learn...

And usually also a very defensive battle approach, in which one waits for the enemy team to mistakes, but is on the same time always ready to go aggressively ahead if needed. Which often works good with potato teams... And feels for me boring as sh*t, which is one of the reasons why I'll never become a Unicorn...

well, then Your Yubari is kaput... mine is still melting planes... not that it would help in the end, but still... gives CVs to think about... And sure there are a few that won't be bothered by a Yubari. But 90% of T4 Cv players are potatoes... they can crap newbies and potatoes, especially in BBs.. but when confronted with a slighty tougher target they usually go looking for more easy prey. Which is true for the higher tiers, too... Noneteless CVs are basically OP...

Fixed that for You.. Homer was the writer of the story... lived a couple hundred years after that war is supposed to have happened... no need to drag him around Troy

not that did achieve any "nerfing" in the end... When playing my T6 CVs - purely for research reasons - crapping on Texas' as become a habit. Just let them simmer a bit in the HE oven and they are soon ready to be used as a nice snack. Especially the quite short AA range makes it easy to ignore them until the time is right... Do You by any chance play CVs yourself? Cause that usually helps a lot with measuring the influence AA at T4 has on CVs... which is ~zero (with very few exceptions) How to division at T4 properly? My guess would be a combo of Orion, Yubari (heavily nerfed, but still nasty AA and that Lazer-DD destroying guns) and for the rest a Isokaze (aka Baby-Kamikaze...) If You need a trendy name for that division I'd tell it "Sealclubbers Finest" or something like that... Unless You meet a real Unicorn Hosho - which probably is a quite low chance - You'd probably be able to crap all over most CVs the MM will be able to throw at you...

My Kamikaze - 56.3% winrate, 41k average damage, 1.33 average kills (627 battles, most after Minekaze got nerfed so with nominally "better" setup) My Minekaze - 57,48% winrate, 36k average damage, 1.15 average kills (715 battles, most after she got "nerfed"...) Hill - 62.3% winrate, 29k av. dam., 0.95 ac kills (61 battles) Nicholas - 60% winrate, 31k av.dam. 1.25 av kills (40 battles) Visby - 59% winrate, 24k av.dam, 0.86 av kills (22 battles) I also got a couple DDs in which I did suboptimal... but on the other hand I have encountered tons of utter potatoes sailing cluelessly around in Kamikazes, getting obliterated by my Minekaze or US/Russki/French/whatever DDs... Yeah, Kamikaze is a good boat. It can deadly in the right hands. So can most other ships. Potatoes will potato in her. If You would have spent more time at T5 in the differents nations DDs You probably would have done in them as good as in the Kamikaze... which would just prove that it's not the ship that is OP but that a good player can make a good ship a lot better. I'm only an average player.. that's why I do better in other DDs than the Kami
