Matchmaker Discussion Thread & MM Balance

I think to recall that WG had wanted to implement a change to the MM, so that the lower tier ships wouldn't end up alone in a battle with a multitude of higher tier (+2) ships. And I also recall that there was supposed some kinda "fixed" percentage chances to be low-mid-high tier after a number of battles... Both seems to be just... vaporware? 10 battles today. Once high tier ship. Two times mid tier ship. All the rest played as low tier... kinda tedious... Add to that getting teams consisting of high tier ships controlled by sub 45% potatoes and it gets even frustrating, as carrying in a T5 cruiser against 8 T7 ships is not really easy... I still think this kinda planned by WG to get players to go to T10, which is the Tier from which probably WGs most income comes...

Republic of China navy flag in captains logbook?

I got also the fancy I need with my Golden Co** sorry... Golden Rooster flag. Always leads to interesting remarks in chat when I write "My Golden co** Rooster flies proudly in the winds"

Glad that WG still find a way to make money from another fiasco.

The main problem seems to be that Mouse and Chobi probably think that WG has ANY interest in "fixing things" with them. WGs only interest is to get out of the situation with as little effort from their side as possible and dropping the blame on someone else, be it a WGNA employee or a pair of CCs and then make sure that the whole ""problem" gets covered up by time... like they did with all the other f*ck-ups they produced over the last years...
  5. Deckeru_Maiku

    Someone please explain....

....which isn't a problem if one is just ready to sink enough real moneytm into the Premium Shop. 62million credits for only *cough* € 82.-

WG Can you PLS map out all the shallow parts on the map?!

It's a problem that at least many BaBBies (= WGs main customer base) will never notice, considering that are few islands near the upper and lower map edge... So no reason for WG to do anything. Especially as spreadshiet says that submarine players need a highly detailed underwater world to "immerse properly" into how it was to drive around in a sail, with no optical help except the periscope (for above the waves) and sonar and depthmeter for below the waves... because players want to play submarines that work like surface ships, only under water...

It's a russian company. They never understood and probably never will understand how customers are treated or expect to be treated in countries with a more western styled mindset. For them it's "eat what you get fed and don't complain, else you're going to get starved or send to gulag" The main problem with WG is, that there still are too many people throwing money at them, even though they aren't satisfied with the output they receive for their financial input, but, hey, it's only a couple € so what the heck... But considering the russian mindset, WG would probably rather go broke or let WoWs go the way of the dodo (like they did with WoWPlanes) instead of agreeing that there is something wron with their behaviour.

2 CVs per side at T8???

Just play CoOp... even when your team is filled with bots they are hardly any worth then the average human players you might find during primetime
  9. Deckeru_Maiku

Good job WG, there's no need to fix the game...

Spreadshiet says this feature is needed to make subs phun. Don't complain, comrade, because you would go to gulag for making the spreadshiet look bad. Spreadshiet is never wrong.

    Kitakami is coming

Nope.. but neither did interest me at all.. so why should I care? Current amount of credits in my coffers: ~500 millions, so there is little need for more. One of the benefits of not playing that much T10 ships (due to lack of interest) Your arguments are all very fitting, just not for me, as I seem to be a different type of player than you (and probably many others here in the game...)
  11. Or just say: Without rockets the number of CVs got lower, while all other classes returned to the way of eternal changes we had since the game started, with only one fix point: there will always be too many BBs in the queue...

What Were Your Greatest Gaming Achievements Today ?

Had today quite the usual mix of desasters and glorious wins... or wins and glorious desasters... The probably most fun one was a T6 battle in my Kamikaze *CoughDirtySealclubberThatIAmCough* Domination mode on Fault Line. I started on the northern half of the map, quite to the left. There were a CV, 4 DDs, 3 cruisers and 4 BBs (just that one of the enemy BBs was an Ise...) each team. Half my team sailed to A cap, the other half to C cap... so I steamed happily ahead to B. And capped it unmolested. Utterly ignored I felt.... so I checked the minimap and saw the way to the probable position of the enemy CV free... so choo-choo... steaming happily towards my goal... I even got spotted for a second, but - who would have expected - got totally ignored... even when I spotted the CV he didn't send any planes my way... only when I sent my eels towards him I spotted an enemy cruiser finally setting course towards me. But when my torps found their target - Boom said the Erich Loewenhardt - the cruisers send some shells in my direction, but before more damage could done (to me) it got annihilated by a nice salvo from one of my team's BBs. So I looked around and saw the Ise ignoring me and trying to get away from the left where my teammembers were breaking through... so full speed ahead and mind the torpedoes (mine, which I planned to launch). And again I got utterly ignored... so I was again able to launch torpedoes, lob some shells at the Ise scored shell and torpedo hits and watched it get sent to the bottom of the sea by the allied CV... I also tried to get into range to do something nasty against the last surviving enemy - New Mexico it was... but slightly before I was able to launch more torps the battle with our counter reaching the 1000 mark. So.. only 1 kill... but it was a potato controlled Erich Löwenherz CV And nice 81k damage done... And a win... In my battle with the Dunkerque I managed to do have a real "ooopsie" moment. T8 battle (of course..) on Trident (Domination) with me starting below the C cap. An allied Ödland in front of me sailed into the cap, but then retreated after just launching some useless torps, so I pushed through to the island in C and kept the enemy from taking the cap. On the other side of the island a Vladivostok, a Charles Martell and an Orkan also played the "waiting game", while a New Mexico got greedy and moved around the island, just to get shelled by me and an allied BB from far behind me... After nearly 5 more minutes (!) of nothing happening I tried to sneak around the island myself, just to stumble into into the Vladivostok, which kindly presented it's broadside to me at less than 5 km away.. so I was able to score one of the most hard hits that I managed to score: 75k damage from one salvo... still not enough to sink that Vladi though and time for my Ooopsie moment, as I had pre-chosen HE for my next reload *cough* as I had expected to have to face the DD... so the Vladi managed to get away, the Charles Martell shelled me and sent torps my way, but it was a torp salvo from the Orkan that sunk me... Still the Vladi and Charles Martell had not much time to brag, as a minute or three later they both got sunk, too. And we won the battle. No sinker for me, but some nice 113k damage done... Had some more high damage battles today, but also some with early deaths and little damage.. wins and losses in about equal numbers... so I guess I stop bragging here.

    Kitakami is coming

I'm playing since open beta. The chances that WG comes up with something that I would want to have enough to grind for it are slim.... very, very, VERY slim. Especially as the ship du jour seem to be CVs and subs in the near future

Ah.. yeah, I understand that for some people that might be a reason... not for me, though... haven't found anything to spend the tokens I already got on, and the stuff that costs more than the amount that I have is of no use/interest for me...

What Were Your Greatest Gaming Achievements Today ?

Sure did... Right when it became obvious that he was going through the channel I also explained open chat all the things that would not allow him to succeed, like having no torps and heal on the Belfast... so more kudos to him for still going for it.. "Ave cesar, morituri te salutant" or so..

What Were Your Greatest Gaming Achievements Today ?

Had a day of "take this ship to battle again *blowing a shipload of dust of Prince Eitel / Gneisenau /Scharnorst / Graf Spee*" today. Didn't do really do good in Sch'horst and Gneisi, but my team won the battles for me... But Prince E.F., which I rarely ever played, surprised me. I ended in a T8 battle (standard mode) on Two Brother Map with her. Right from the start we asked our T6 CV to have a look over the channel when possible. And when nearly all ships rushed the left and right flank, I kept an eye on the channel myself. So I was ready when two (!) enemy DDs appeared already halfway through the channel. I changed my course, noticed an allied Leander going into intercept mode, too, and hurried towards our cap. I reached it just in time to see the Leander damaging one of the DDs, just to get torped in her smoke. As I had my Bismarck captain in the PEF my secondaries started shooting and after only scratching the enemy Kidd (!) with my initial AP salvo - too lazy to change shells before - I blasted it with my second - HE - salvo. The second DD had been bright enough to use all it's torps against the Leander, so he could only send some HE shells my way before it also ate a couple lots larger HE shells and some secondary hits, that took it out.... five minutes in the battle: two DD kills achieved... Both our flanks got a little bit stuck, so I sailed towards the right flank, when a few torps missed me. A third DD (!) was sitting in the channel, spotted by our CV for a second, and waiting for a chance to sneak out... So I set course toward the channel to demotivate him enough to cancel the attempt, which, as the spotting by our CV proved, did succeed. So back towards the right flank... I arrived early enough to get the finally shot against an enemy Nagato (I think...) when the next channel explorer - a Tirpitz - appeared. So do a big circle again - the other ships on the right flank had advanced too far already to get that Tirpitz - and sneak closer toward our cap. There our Skane managed to stick some torps into the Tirpitz, but got sunk in return. But the Tirpitz got damaged enough that I was able to sink it with two salvos... unless I didn't, because just before my shells hit it got bombed by our CV... Right flank secure and the channel - for the moment - too, so I continued toward the left flank, which now was a bit depleted of ships... in passing the channel I had the chance to lob some shells into the opposing cap and towards a Lolorado which seemed to be retreating with only a handfull HP left... which it lost through my hits. Kill number four and the end of the battle got closer... like the - previously sitting in the channel - Skane, that had now advanced along the left flank, took a hit from me, got spotted by our CV and sunk by an ally... Last enemy left: a Belfast... guess what he did... yes, right.. straight through the channel... and guess who was still sitting right in our cap... right, your's truly... He deserved that compliment I gave him for being stupidly heroic to go towards me guns blazing and whatnots with not a chance to not get sunk... I didn't want to end it too fast, so I only blasted him with my secondaries for a bit, before finishing it with the main guns... So.. Five kills without being able to get away from our own cap due to having to run after/toward enemy ships... A glorious 39k damage done... And a win... In the Graf Spee I had to work a lot more for the win... T7 standard battle on Trident. Starting on the right side of the upper map half I tried to take it slow... followed a Gnevy towards, but not into the C cap, as enemy ships got spotted early. I managed a fast citadel hit against a Yorck, then dodged out of sight... The Gnevny engaged a Skane but the fight ended undecided... when I closed the distance the Yorck came siling around the island behind the Gnevy and I were waiting. I managed some more hits against the Yorck, but it got sunk by someone else. Pushing past that island, I tried to sink the Skane, but only managed to scratch it a bit, before I got engaged by a Giulio Cesare. When I managed to set it on fire and to dodge some shots it turned heel. At the same time a New Mexico had entered the cap and I found myself between a rock and a hard place. Sending torps towards the New Mex and shooting HE against the Cesar Salad, I just waited for the next big salvo to take me out. But a glorious Warspite came to my rescue... when the New Mex turned to dodge my torps it had to show broadside to the Warspite, which usually isn't a really good thing to do... and it wasn't this time either... The Cesar Salad had taken some hits from the Warspite, too, but it was I fired I had started on her that take her out. At this point two of three caps were ours. We were ahead with 700 to 400 or so... and we had a nearly destroyed Gneisenau defending the B cap. That about 50% HP Warspite and my Graf Spee, with 25% HP left, but potential to heal back to about 50% or so... against a nearly dead Sinop, a badly damaged Skane and a Mahan. All three enemy ships seemed to go to B, so the Warspite and I did the same. Sinop arrived early, didn't manage to take out the Gneisenau, got shelled from three ships and went down by Gneise's shells. Just before the Mahan torped the Gneisenau... The Skane tried to take the B cap but couldn't get invisible... so I finally managed to stick some HE shells into it... Only Mahan, Warspite and me left... two caps vs one. And the counter going up for us... I was quite sure that I could outdo the Mahan and when it wasted some torps on a blind shot in my direction I advanced... it got spotted and the Warspite and I tried to sink it, but the battle ended with a win by points before we could finish it... Two sinkers... 96k damage done... Win... hard fought... but oh so satisfying...

Utterly surprising, considering that they would love to have a way to motivate players more to throw money away for junk ships... Seems that we europeans might have a better grasp of russian mentality looks like and how much one can achieve by "negotiating" with them.

So... why grind at all? Why not just.... gasp... play for.... fun? Of course RB resets are a great way to remove ships from harbour that one doesn't want to play anymore. Like, really, really not want to play again...

2 CVs per side at T8???

Strange player numbers don't only pop up during off numbers. Stuff like fail-divisioning can also lead to battles not getting 12 players in the teams. I got a T6 battle yesterday, in which two T4 CVs (mind you, only one per team) got pulled into it because divisioning with T5 ships.. Would be interesting to see what a 2 CV divison would lead to... hour-long queue time or automatic two CV on the other team? Anyone wanting to test it at T10? ^^

    General CV related discussions.

You mean when we still had RTS CVs and Unicorns and normal (or slightly better than normal) players offered tons of ideas how to solve the problems CV made back then? Which probably would have had been way easier to implement, more probable to work and less destructive to other classes then the option that WG managed to pull out of their donkey? Yeah... Sure... WG and feedback from players...
  23. Deckeru_Maiku

    Just no (Submarines)

To judge WG's ability to program their bots one only has to look what bot controlled CVs do in battles.. I really wait to see how those bot controlled submarines wreak havoc among their bot teams... I really look forward to play subs in CoOp... a lot...

    The gospel of Femennenly

Corrected that... because she does matter to a more or less large part of the WoWs community. Of course not to that guy who chose his nickname by a former german Bundeskanzler who was responsible for the wall coming tumbling down and the eruption of blooming landscapes in the former GDR (German Democratic Republic). Kinda like when a brit would choose Margaret Thatcher as a nickname...
