What Were Your Greatest Gaming Achievements Today ?
Deckeru_Maiku replied to Hanszeehock's topic in General Discussion
Greatest achievement for me today was my first battle in a Yamato (on test server...) gaining "base" 150k (or so...) experience for sinking NO ship and doing about 60-ish k damage. Oh, and shooting down about 20 planes... -
Had a nice match in my Cleveland today and was faced with a Tirpitz on the opposing team. That mother can take a lot of beating. I stuck around 70 HE shots in it and it just sailed on happily... On the receiving end, it took her quite a while to sink my Cleveland, as I was going straight after her, showing very liitle profile, so shells were killing lots of water all around me. So, I'd love to play one, but right now I'm not ready to pay too much for it. Instead I'd rather wait for the Bismarck...
-
No, I wouldn't - but usually a DD should be used to being circled (by other DDs usually...) in a knife fight... so he should be able to aim his salvos a bit better
-
That's about one of the dumbest DD drivers I've ever seen...
-
During 0.4.1 test I had a couple normal - non-ranked - battles with only 6 to 8 players per side... and depending on the map I liked them more than the usual - crowded - 12 vs. 12 battles. Especially in lower levels and the smaller maps smaller teams make a lot of sense IMHO. Most fun I had in a BB on Hotspot map, three cap domination mode with 6 (!) ships per team.
-
I had some of my "best" games - exp-, damage- and kills-wise - in losses or draws. Kinda like me sinking four or five opponents with the other eleven player sinking another two before getting sunk themselves... But most of the about 5% draws I got happened because of dumb play by one or more players on each side. Trying to cap too late... not capping at all... hunting the last enemy ship... stuff like that. Alas, players can rejoice - with 0.4.1. there will be a new "domination" mode with only two cap zones, which are already owned by each side at the start. Each team starts with a cap and 300 points, and gains another 3 points every 5 seconds unless their "own" cap is tapped or captured.

Battleships, just a waste of space
Deckeru_Maiku replied to DreadArchangel's topic in General Discussion
I've played several matches this weekend, where BBs ended up in the Top 3 points... so what now? Your "facts" vs. my "facts"? And buffing would be great - but there's no way to buff player's brains, or is there? -

Getting more and more hard crashes lately
Deckeru_Maiku replied to MrMacavity's topic in General Discussion
Game crashes at least once a day for me since 0.4.0 has been implemented. From what I read here on the forum, the "access violation" crash happens mostly (?) to players with an AMD CPU. -
At least the ability for ships to dive is already implemented... Too bad there's still trouble with the ability to surface again...

Sunk by torpedo bombers in my BB...
Deckeru_Maiku replied to MilkPowder's topic in General Discussion
I know that situation, OP, from both POVs - being the sender and receiver of torpedoes... so a +1 from me -
Doesn't the Yuubari feel a bit weak?
Deckeru_Maiku replied to UzukiPyon's topic in General Discussion
I've got a 3.31 planes shot down per battle average, without the patch 0.4.1, so IMHO the Yubari is already a quite good support ship. The guns do quite well against DDs and other Tier 4 cruisers and can be quite nasty against BBs, causing quite a few fires. I think, people might have problems with her, as some people have problems with the Furutaka. Both aren't the standard cruisers... but both can do quite well if handled right. Kuma is nice... but Warspite is real nasty, if played right... But people and preferences are different, I guess -
Why do carrier players not move their ships?
Deckeru_Maiku replied to Blackeon's topic in General Discussion
Only if the island is high enough... which they often aren't on several maps... And even then, those islands are the first place an enemy CV will search for you. -
What it's like to play online games as a grownup
Deckeru_Maiku replied to Siagor's topic in General Discussion
I started playing online games some 25 years or so ago... when I was 30 or so... ...community hasn't changed a bit since then. -
Please help me, what should I do in this situation
Deckeru_Maiku replied to mscv_36's topic in General Discussion
There's an Ingame Report Option - use it. I guess WG can then also see what happened in chat before those shots were fired... BTW... what's an DD doing at that spot of the map at that time of battle? Trying to sink you some CV? -
Any news on when the skillships will be nerfed? (CVs)
Deckeru_Maiku replied to fenrirspup's topic in General Discussion
Jep, terrible nerf. Now you have to guess where the planes drop the torpedoes... no more sinking ships 30 yards besides an island... -
Why do carrier players not move their ships?
Deckeru_Maiku replied to Blackeon's topic in General Discussion
Even with a slow CV you can move away from the places where everybody expects you to be. Being behind most of the small islands on the map does NOTHING for the visibility rating. And moving around the island so you can shoot at the CV takes nearly no time at all. So the only reason left why a CV hides behind an island is: Dumb Captain! -

Deckeru_Maiku replied to schadowhunter's topic in Allgemeine Diskussionen
Deckeru_Maiku replied to schadowhunter's topic in Allgemeine Diskussionen
Naja.... -
Naaaaah... can't be that high. I only have about 5.6% draws or so... I don't think the average will be much higher than 7 or maybe 8% And usually there's only two reasons for a draw: players being frightened by a bad MM so one team stays close to the starting point and playing not aggressive enough, with the other team not taking that chance, because they also don't play as aggressive as they would have to win and players going YOLO and getting sunk, making the survivors losing faith and - again - not playing aggressively enough or - yes, a third reason - players just being dumb, taking the long way along the map edge and forgetting about the time limit...
-
*sigh* this is why CV's get a bad rep.
Deckeru_Maiku replied to Deathmaw's topic in General Discussion
Let's not forget that many - and I mean MANY! - players who started to drive around in CVs recently do that because "CVs are totally OP!!!!111eleven!" and usually know nothing about HOW to drive around in a CV. I'm only a mediocre CV player at best, but even I sometimes would love to bump my head unto the keyboard when I see what those people do... BUT - and it's a big but - often people offer advise in chat that doesn't help a bit to better the situation... stuff like... yelling at a Langley/Bogue player that he should keep up with the fleet. Sure Sir, I just start the magical CV speed boost and be with you right away... telling a CV player where to hide his ship... like, behind some island near the spawn (first place an enemy will look for a CV)... or at the map edge behind the spawn (so far away from the action - due to slow planes - that the CV will be utterly useless)... -
The biggest problem with this game, No Teamwork.
Deckeru_Maiku replied to simonmd's topic in General Discussion
You did most of the damage - you get most of the Exp. Kill brings only a little bonus Exp, afaik. Yeah, dumb move by the CV to go for that near-sinking CV instead of the BB, but people make dumb choices in this game all of the time. Ne need to whine about it... IMHO there is no "kill stealing" in this game. Every ship sunk helps your team to win. Exp are rewarded mostly for damage done. Even a ship with only 1% health is as deadly, as if it had 100% - so to sink it ASAP is the best choice. -
Any news on when the skillships will be nerfed? (CVs)
Deckeru_Maiku replied to fenrirspup's topic in General Discussion
Anybody noticed that each team had a player with -1 kills in it? TKs - they are EVERYWHERE! -
Lemmingtrain IST die richtige Taktik
Deckeru_Maiku replied to schadowhunter's topic in Allgemeine Diskussionen
